CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX #249 (08/28/2010)

cat doesn't always land on his feet

Arena Coliseo, 08/22/2010

Astro Boy, Metálico, Starman vs Inquisidor, Puma King, Tiger Kid: Didn’t get much into the early stuff, but it picked up in the last couple falls and the Cats remain always fun. In the alternate universe where CMLL does stuff with the Arena Coliseo Tag Team titles, this sets up a Puma/Tiger vs Astro Boy/Metalico title match

Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Toscano vs Jushin Liger, Sangre Azteca, Terrible: Rudo team is much, much cooler than the tecnico team, and that’s even with Dorada. Sangre Azteca probably could use a highspot that isn’t a dropkick.

Not an arena I’m familiar with. Some googling points to an Al Filo del Ring recap of an AAA show here two years ago; guessing from the pictures that this is in the 2,000 range, maybe less. Boxing and rock concerts there besides the usual community leagues.

Main event is a (sort of) rematch from Verano de Escandalo. Special stip for the match is, if anyone runs in the main event, they’re suspended for 90 days.  The way I see it, X-Fly has nothing to lose. Team AAA’s internal problems will probably be enough on their own.

Hernandez probably hoping to make some progress on his mission of destroying 187.

Elegido’s on the card, so someone does still remember he’s feuding with the Stones.

THEY’RE FOLLOWING UP ON RELAMPAGO COSTING EXTREME TIGER THE MATCH AT TRIPLEMANIA! Three months! It took them three months to be in the same match, and they’re still not even facing off.

Title match was set up way back on the Expo show; Mini Histeria beat Octagoncito, proclaimed to his buddies that he was going to win the title, and his buddies laughed at him behind his back. Last taping had a minis match, had Octagoncito & Histeria participating, and probably should’ve led directly into this, but neither guy was involved into the finish. Maybe it’ll make more sense when it airs.

Puebla results, not much else

CMLL (MON) 09/06 Arena Puebla [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Blue Center & Tigre Rojo b Akron & Siki Osama
2) Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Violencia b Astral, Eléctrico, Fantasy
3) Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Nosferatu b Delta, Fabián el Gitano, Leono
4) Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II b Blue Panther, Sagrado, Toscano
5) Máscara Dorada, Místico, Shocker b Héctor Garza, Jushin Lyger, Mr. Águila

Tecnicos took the first, rudos took the second. Mistico pinned Garza in the third, when Tirantes fast counted for the wrong guy. That sets up the tag title match next week (Dorada/Mistico vs Garza/Aguila, if I’m typing it right this time.)

There’s nothing going on, it’s what I get for doing the news update at night. Dorian Roldan turning back my blatant attempts at Twitter trolling nearly made the cut.

In Monterrey, Dralion took Chico de Barrio’s hair and Paty Rey won the state women’s championship.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

09/04 videos

Teleformula doesn’t have the GDL show up. We probably could use someone who knows how to record streaming flash video to try and record that show directly from the Guadalajara station. Ras de Lona is not up yet.
