Zorro takes Nicho’s hair, X-LAW, Taichi/Maximo

Who’s doing the monthly CMLL recaps for wikipedia? I’m guessing you’re reading this because of similar source links, but I’m just curious about it.

AAA PdN (SAT) 10/30 Poliforo Juan Gabriel [Mi Lucha Libre]
5) ZorroNicho el Millionario [hair]

Weapons match with Mini Abismo Negro and Octagoncito (as seconds) getting involved, and the referee favoring Zorro the whole way. No counts when Nicho had a pin, fast count for Zorro’s win. After the match, Nicho protested, demanded the ref be suspended for six months, questioned if the referee even had a license, and refused to get any more than a few locks cut off. However, later in the locker room, Nicho did get his hair shaved. Good he did it, bad the fans didn’t get to see it. Nicho complained more about the referee in an interview.

X-LAW (SAT) 10/30 Arena Lopez Mateos [SuperLuchas]
1) La Vaquerita b La Pantera and Chica Tormenta
2) Bunker & Chapulin Negro b Dragon Ninja, Lumino, Okuzono
3) Epidemia, Heavy Boy, Sadico DRAW Arsenal, Distubrio Ledesma, Sadico (Tampico)
4) Serval b El Duende, Aborto [XLAW WELTER]
5) Bestia 666, Grendel, Heimdal b Carta Brava, Cerebro Negro, Fantasma de la Ópera
6) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Angel o Demonio, Leon Rojo, Obett
7) Super Crazy b Joe Lider, Shyru Dragon [XLAW JH]
8) Sabu b Damián 666 [XLAW INT]

Damian attacked Sabu in a press conference the day before the show, to explain his presence in the match (no Nosawa, who was the champion) and possibly to explain why Sabu went into the match with rib pain. Sabu favored it thru the match and even the Super Luchas recap notes he didn’t wrestle as well as he once did (though he tried), but Sabu did win the match and the title.

Both other titles matches had the champions retaining. Crazy pinned Joe Lider. Juvi turned up to celebrate with Super Crazy, and of course immediately turned on him to set up a future match. The battle of the Sadicos ended with the refs losing control of the match.

CMLL (SUN) 10/31 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Disturbio & MortizCamaleón & Robin
2) Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Último DragoncitoPequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Dark Angel, Goya Kong, Luna MágicaLa Comandante, La Seductora, Mima Shimoda
4) Shigeo Okumura, Taichi, YoshihashiMáximo, Toscano, Valiente
5) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Hijo del FantasmaAtlantis, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero

Porky was both a vampire and Charly Manson! He also hurt Atlantis’ ribs on a splash, and Atlantis eventually was strechered out.

Taichi pinned Maximo clean with the Black Mephisto, then talked trash to Maximo. Unfortuantly, he did this in Japanese, but eventually everyone worked it out. Maximo offered a hair vs hair rematch.

Goya Kong dressed as a witch and got the win in her match.

Electrico feuded with Olimpico and Warrior in his match.

CMLL in NJPW: 10/31
– Giant Bernard, Karl Anderson, Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi b Terrible, Texano Jr., Jado & Gedo [Anderson on Gedo]
– Manabu Nakanishi, Strong Man & Koji Kanemoto beat Yuji Nagata, Wataru Inoue & Jushin Liger [Nakanishi on Liger]

LuchaWorld has Alfredo talking about his trip to Lucha Va Voom, and KrisZ’s news update.

Cesar is in a run of naming things or at least wondering about names for them: CMLL World Trios champsCamaleon’s trademark submission (Camaleon has a trademark?), Apolo Estrada Jr.’s stunner variant, Metalico’s wheelbarow driver, and Mortiz & Disturbio’s double team submission. I think I’ve seen Apolo’s stunners on the US indies (which means in Japanese move), but at least they’re doing new stuff. I’m all for names sticking to moves.

IWL and AAA TV tomorrow.

Castle of Terror! Centuaro, Comando Negro, Alan Extreme and Arlequin Negro are likely suspects. 911 has a chance too – they keep debuting new Oficials, which usually means a replacement is about to be needed.

6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara DoradaEl Alebrije, Olímpico, Psicosis [CMLL TRIOS]

Clean wins for the champions in both matches. Psicosis lost to Mascara’s campana in the third fall of the main event, while Amapola beat Tiffany with the backcracker. The first couple of falls of the women’s title match had a bit controversey, causing Mima Shimoda & Estrellita (Amapola & Tiffany’s seconds) to get thrown out.

Mascara was solicting for names for his team on Ras de Lona. I guess they’re not a dream team.

Bad night for injuries. Pegasso did an Asai Moonsault into an armdrag and landed in the hospital. He hurt his right knee on the landing. Angel de Oro hurt a toe on a moonsault to the floor. Both injuries basically gave the rudos the win.

Dragon Rojo fouled Mistico for the DQ in the semimain. Metalico replaced Astro Boy.

Now that she’s no longer teaming with the Invasors, Ras de Lona had an interview with Marcela explaining why she was teaming with the Invasors. Timely! Also, Atlantis played foosball and they had a 10 second skit with Mistico, Monito, Perico and Cuije promoting the Halloween shows.

AAA in NOAH

This resembles the previous listed card for IWRG in that they were both lucha libre shows featuring luchadors. Otherwise, not much the same. Main event is a twenty man match, where the eliminated grab straps and become lumberjacks. Amusing for the Arlequins to return the show before the Castle of Terror.

CMLL vs Invasors cibernetico. Wonder if they’re setting up some new version of that. Invasors desperately need a win, or a new reason to exist.

Main event is focused on the Dragon Rojo/Mistico thing.

Tuesday’s Arena Mexico show has been moved to Arena Coliseo. Maybe because it’s an earlier start time? Maybe because they’re just random?

The lineup for 11/07 AAA says the Apaches opponents are Oyuki & Kaguya. Whoever they might be.

2010 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#963)
Mexico: 11/14
US: 11/27

Here’s the problem. 5 matches = 1 taping, but they  would have to turn around the next taping in Thursday. Maybe they’ll use one of the unaired matches from Heroes Inmortales? They’ll figure it out.

No basketball hoop this time :(

This seems to be a show to have a show. Maybe it’ll be more intriguing after Sunday? Seems like they’re waiting to actually put the new Bizarros in TV, but this main event will be full of Cibernetico bitterness.

Minis return the TV. Tiger & Jack return from Japan. Aerostar returns from oblivion.

The women probably are the same women as Sunday and the same women we think they are, but who knows.

IWRG, title matches tonight, AAA Lucha Libre Premier returns, TV notes

IWRG (THU) 10/28 Arena Naucalpan [Mi Lucha Libre]

3) Bugambilia del Norte, Chico Che, Miss Gaviota b Arlequin Rojo, Comando Negro, Hammer
4) Chiva Rayada, Gato Eveready, Relampago DQ Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Electroshock b Joe Lider, Silver King [bull terrier]

Gato Eveready 2010: A cat you can trust/AAA

Electro won the bull terrier match, with the Maniacos starting off friends not and not quite ending that way. Lider was attacked after the match by Dr. Cebrero, who wanted an extreme match with him. Dr. Cerbero is a goofball.

Sounds like the Oficials were DQed for a mask pull after dominating the match. No telling who’s in the Chiva Rayada outfit now. The name turns up on AAA spot show infrequently, but the gimmick hasn’t made TV since it was other people.

Tercera set up a Chico Che/Comando Negro match.

AAA’s website announced Guerra de Tirantes will be on 12/05 in Auditorio Benito Juárez, Zapopan, Jalisco. That’s outside the extended Mexico City driving area, first time since July.

Tonight’s previews: ESTO, Notimex, AMI Sports (via Gladiatores) focusing on the trios title match. According to that article, Sombra, La Mascara, and Mascara Dorada are calling themselves “Dream Team”. When did that happen? The refs for the title match have been announced as Tirantes & Rafael El Maya. I’m betting on the status quo in both title matches, even though it doesn’t help the Invasors.

AAA’s Lucha Libre Premiere will return this November. The show aired last fall/winter on Fox Sports Espanol (Mexico only) and will be back on that station. They’re taping 11/01, 11/13, 11/20, 11/28 (why did they not mention this until 3 days before the first taping? Peculiar) at Six Flags with no air date mentioned. Last year, this was a points tournament format, where the rules sort of got changed by the end and Dr. Wagner Jr. It was mostly ignored on the main AAA show (and by people who watch AAA) and went unmentioned after it ended. Figured that meant it was canceled, but maybe it’s meant to be seasonal programming – filling in gaps for auto racing and baseball on the network?

CMLL’s Twitter says they’re airing at 4:30 pm (central) on Saturday. AAA’s TV preview hypes the return of Gato Eveready. I was going to make fun of that, but that’s actually a fine selling point.

PuroLove‘s TV listings have “NOAH/Takashi Sugiura Mexico Special” airing on 11/20/2010 on Gaora TV. The Chessman/Sugiura match did not air in Mexico, so that’ll be the only time it turns up.

In the comments, Kyle mentioned Gamestop says the Wii version of Heroes del Ring is canceled. Video game company hasn’t said anything. I think I’ve decided to stop linking to reviews at this point; I think you’ve gotten the idea.

Links

  • Estrellas del Ring has an interview with Super Brazo & Super Brazo Junior. Senior says the Junior is unrelated, but the Junior has a lot of skills and earned the name. This never turns out well. (Early warning sign = this looks like the second Super Brazo Jr. Maybe the third.)
  • SuperLuchas has a promo from NWA Bolivia. NWA Bolivia?
  • News report on a Chilean lucha show in prison.
  • GALLI posted video of their September show in Rockford, outside in the cold and rain.
  • Lucha Libre Salinas is advertising a show for 11/07. LA Park and (Hijo de?) Rey Misterio are pictured on the posters, but the actual names for the show are conspicuously missing.
  • Cronicas Y Leyendas has video of Perro Aguayo vs Fishman in Dallas.
  • Octagon, building houses. We really need a picture of a Casas building a casa (or pinning someone with a casita.)

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 11/01 Arena Puebla
1) Blue Center & King Jaguar vs Ares & Centauro de Fuego
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Horus, Tigre Blanco vs Bronco, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Ángel de Oro, Leono, Sensei vs Demus 3:16, Dr. X, Nitro
4) Máximo, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso II, Pólvora, Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Felino, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

A lineup ahead of time! Main event is a rematch. Really, so is the second – same rudo group, just Maximo instead of Valiente. Next Monday is likely fan appreciation here, and they’re telegraphing Bucanero vs Mistico (maybe Rey defends his title?) but they could be setting up the title match in the semimain too.

Puebla, AAA TV schedule, lineups

CMLL (MON) 10/25 Arena Puebla [CMLL, KrisZ]
1) Akron & Fuerza Chicana b Centella de Oro & Stigma
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Goya Kong, Luna Mágica b La Seductora, Princesa Sujei, Seuxis
3) Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi b Delta, Diamante, Sagrado
4) Misterioso II, Pólvora, Sangre Azteca b Metro, Stuka Jr., Valiente
5) Felino, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Místico

Bucanero snuck in a foul on Mistico, which sets up a rematch next week.

Hey, look, Sangre and Misterioso teamed up. Maybe they can compare notes.

Seuxis did not quit, did not jump to AAA, but also did not win.

This week’s AAA had their TV schedule for November
11/07: Tlalnepantla (Convention Center)
11/18: Naucalpan (IWRG)
11/22: Leon (Domo de la Feria)

The Tlalnepantla is surely a double taping. They’re also doing a tie up with the local sports department to promote the sports in the town.

It’s been a day and a half, and I don’t think any site that promoted the Perros del Mal shows by posting their press releases has even mentioned the show got canceled.

NJPW posted the Texano & Terrible vs Nakamura & Puder match on YouTube.

AAA has short vignettes showing the new Bizarro members: Taboo & Scoria.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and the new Ras de Lona.

CMLL Guadalajara on Teleformula #18 (10/23/2010)

professional!

taped Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, 09/28/2010

This show! This was a show.

I’ve been bored by this program recently, and the matches have generally been inoffensively bland. This one sure broke the mold. You can tell there’s no effort at all put into picking the matches to air on this show, because there’s no way this opener should’ve made TV. At least it was short, and the main got plenty of time.

Sombra/Aguila was a slow starter that got fun by the end. Aguila acted like a man who had actually seen a CMLL singles match before, knew the spots the tecnico did in every single match, and was going to do his best to put a stop to it. Plus, he was dressed like a punk stegosaurus, and you can’t go wrong with that. This was not a MOTYC, but if CMLL could promise me one of these matches every month somewhere along the CMLL TV network, I would be a lot more satisfied with CMLL.

Sombra didn’t start using the Brillante Driver until after he got back from Japan, right? Can we send everyone, one by one, over to Japan so they all get set finishers too?

(lots more gifs after the break – hope you have the bandwidth)
