CMLL Puebla: 2016-03-07

Recapped: 03/07/2016

What happened: Ultimo Guerrero cheated Caristico to win the main event. That’s it.

What was good: Opener was the best match to me but ended poorly. Maybe I would’ve liked the main event better if not for the boredom prior, but it wasn’t anything you need to watch. This looked like a weak show on paper and was weaker in the ring.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s YouTube channel.

Match 1: Rey Samuray & Zaeta Roja vs Rey Apocalipsis & Toro Bill Jr.
Arena Puebla, 03/07/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Rey Samurai quebrada Toro Bill (5:12)
    • Zaeta Roja wristlock suplex Rey Apocalipsis (5:18)
  2. Batillon del Muerte
    • Toro Bill frontcracker Rey Samuray (3:14)
    • Rey Apocalipsis powerbomb Zaeta Roja (3:38)
  3. Batillon del Muerte
    • Toro Biill half crab Zaeta Roja (2:#5)
    • Rey Apocalispis Indian Deathlock Rey Samuray (2:58)

Winner: Batillon del Muerte (2-1)
Match Time: 11:54

Review: [good] the last minute was rough – Zaeta Roaj slipped on his springboard armdrag, Rey Apocalipsis shoved him off the top while he tried again, and the match just fell as badly to a finish and Zaeta did. It was fun before that point, especially the first fall when the Batillon tried their usual bits and got shut down by the técnicos. Samurai’s ringpost headscissors to start the second fall is always pretty cool, and the ramp running springboard was another attempt to skirt the dive restriction (which makes the dive restriction look silly.) this was four of the more talented locals guys showing what they could in the limits of the opener, and was pretty entertaining outside of the end.

Match 2: Black Tiger, Robin, Stigma vs Artillero, Camorra, King Jaguar
Arena Puebla, 03/07/2016

  1. tecnicos
    • Robin powerbomb Camorra (6:52)
  2. rudos
    • Artillero Special on Stigma (4:28)
  3. tecnicos
    • Stigmatica on Camorra (5:43)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 17:03
Notes: Stigma replaced Sensei.

Review: [below average] a largely boring match. Luchadors were generally professional looking, but the bottom edge of CMLL’s roster remains a generally boring place. They had dives, which surprised me. Highlight was Robin mocking the Artillero music and King Jaguar saluting Artillero. Camorra seems very inflexible for a luchador.

Match 3: La Vaquerita, Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, La Comandante, Tiffany
Arena Puebla, 03/07/2016

  1. tecnicas
    • Vaquerita elbow drop Tiffany (5:27)
    • Sugehit La Mistica Amapola (5:46)
  2. rudas
    • Tiffany short powerbomb Vaquerita (2:44)
    • Amapola Devil’s Wings Lluvia (3:10)
  3. rudas
    • La Comandante Gori Special Princesa Sugehit (3:39)

Winner: rudas (2-1)
Match Time: 12:35

Review: [below average] Seemed smoother than usual for the first two falls but I could not find a reason to care about this match and they didn’t particularly offer one. It was match because they had to have a match in this spot on the card. I have no idea what was with the rope shaking on Comandante’s normal middle rope axhandle – an inside joke? – and Sugehit’s following comeback wasn’t any good. This one careened to an ending and crowd was happy to see it over.

Match 4: Máximo Sexy, Súper Porky, Titán vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Arena Puebla, 03/07/2016

  1. Revolucionarios
    • Dragon Rojo El Anibalina Titan (3:40)
    • Rey Escorpion foul Máximo (3:56)
  2. técnicos
    • Titan huracanrana Dragon Rojo (1:59)
    • Super Porky sit Porky (2:05)
  3. técnicos
    • Super Porky splash Rey Escorpion (4:02)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:03

Review: [below average] mailed in completely. There are worse matches but a no effort match after two not good ones is hard to take. Beneath the standards of a normal Super Porky match. The Dragon Rojo/Titan hitting each other for a while bit was good, but anything that requires Rojo to start moving his feet is trouble because he can’t move them very fast right now. I don’t know why he get bigger but it’s definitely not to help his wrestling.

Match 5: Carístico, Máscara Dorada, Mistico vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Último Guerrero
Arena Puebla, 03/07/2016

  1. rudos
    • triple submission (3:10)
  2. técnicos
    • Mistico huracanrana Terrible (1:46)
    • Dorada Driver on Rey Bucanero (1:49)
  3. rudos
    • Ultimo Guerrero mask pull Caristico (4:11)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:10
Notes: Rudos jumped técnicos. Bucanero needed medical aid after catching tope con giros at the end. Caristico challenged Ultimo Guerrero to a single fall match, but Ultimo Guerrero ignored it.

Review: [ok] nothing extraordinary, but much better than the match they came before this. The rudos here were better than the rudos in the last match, and it felt like there was more to it the previous match despite the short time. On the other hand, crowd seemed more into Ultimo Guerrero/Caristico last week. The other tecnicos were just in for a few spots.
