AAA #628 (06/09)

taped 05/12

I would’ve really liked to recap the episode before this one, but my TiVo choked on all three recordings. I think I MAYBE could’ve patched something together, but I chose not to fight the fight.

It was a bad call – that episode had to be better than this. The local match opener, which wasn’t more than a six minute basic match, seemed better than most the regular stuff on this show.

Guys were off in the Air Force atomicos – wonder how bad the finish went for Calo that we couldn’t see it, and I have to go back and check my notes to see what the deal was with Super Fly. I’m sure the previous match was better.

Kenzo vs Chessman was everyone Hell Brothers/Legion match we’ve seen for the last month, with Mesias doing Konnan’s interference spots so Konnan could run(/limp)-in himself

Can’t get into the Mexican Powers/Dark Family stuff. Overturned finish only works because it was specified to be a title match – otherwise, the same stuff happened plenty times on this show.

Tecnicos/Vipers was eh. Copetes ruins matches for me, since he’s gotta get involved with the finish if the rudos need it or not, so you know it’s going to be a wild exception if the tecnicos win. Super Astro could’ve been better – I think I remember him being better live.

Head Hunter/Sean Waltman vs Zorro/Cibernetico turned into a US tag for half of it, and so it was weirdly interesting to see if the sudden change in psychology would get over. (No!) Hopefully either “Six Pack” (the guy who’s wearing ab covering gear) watches some of the other matches at the show and gets a sense of what they’re doing, or everyone else adjusts to him. Much like Oz’s notCanadian Destroyer and the non-reaction to it, the point is to do stuff that’ll get over to the crowd, not to just do stuff that’s over with you.

  1. During the interview segment with Zorro, Zuniga should have asked him “when the fuck are you gonna shave that beard?”
