Warning: from the bits of this I watched beforehand, it seemed as though someone decided to grab the bonus materials DVD from the WM 20 one, and use it as filler. Kinda figured there'd be nothing new on either weekend show once I heard they were doing a double taping; this recap is more a matter of record than the slightest bit of interest.

slight spoiler: You may want to tape next week's show. Or at least watch it.

tv pg v cc entertainment open

live from the WWE Excess Studios, your dapper hosts are Romero and Josh. Suits? For Velocity? It's because this is a special Road To WrestleMania 21 Velocity. Romero talks about the Royal Rumble with out actually talking about any specific action from the show, which makes me wonder when they taped this.

09/25: Tickets Go On Sale. (1:00) Tickets may or may not have sold out in under a minute.

WM 20 Recap Package - same one they've aired before, with Drowning Pool's "Step Up". My problem is I've just come up for four hours of NFL Street 2, where this song is featured, so I'm back thinking about Wall Hurdles and Game Breakers, leaving me too distracted to make the "Sable? Rock? Mick Foley? Whatever happened to those people?" Hahahahahaha Goldberg and Brock. That's all I got. (3:55)

Up Next: Angle vs Benoit

SmackDown! Live
02/06 - Anchorage, AK [supershow]
02/12 - East Lansing, MI [SD! Road To WM 21 Live Tour]
02/13 - Valparaiso, IN [SD! Road To WM 21 Live Tour]
02/15 - Cleveland, OH [SD!]
02/20 - Pittsburgh, PA [No Way Out]

Angle/Benoit, WMX17. Josh and Steve make reference to this being voted as one of the top 10 matches of all time by WWE Superstars, but don't mention which place it was. This is the video package from the Top 10 WrestleMania matches of all time, hosted by Ric Flair. (3:35) Fiendish of Teddy Long to show a match featuring a SD! Superstar beating a RAW superstar.

Up Next: 2004 HOF Induction

Eugene as Forest Gump WM 21 commercial.

WM Recall: Pete Rose gets Tombstoned by Kane, 1998.

Josh: "I bet Pete Rose...(I am SO funny)" Anyway, this our segue into the HOF.

HoF Night. (7:48)
(partial) List of new inductees: Paul Orndorff, the Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Bob Orton, Jimmy Hart. The SpikeTV logo in the right hand corner covers up some of the longer names.

Next: TODD GRISHAM. Wow, I can't see me flipping the channel now.

57 days till WM 21

Josh entertains himself with a 'broken watch' spot. All this standing up is making him go insane, as demonstrated when he wonders aloud how he should get to WM - "should I drive? should I fly? should I charter a helicopter? should I take a private plane? should I go the other way around and boat it?" What he really wants to do is take the Road to WM Tour Bus.

Hey, wondering what ever happened to Mark Henry? Didn't think so. Anyway, here's a feature on the Road To Wrestlemania 21 Bus and Mall Tour.  This counts as new footage, I guess. Hillybilly Jim, sure. Calling matches with Todd Grisham would seem to be a treat. Mark: "Fans come up to talk us and say 'Hey, my grandmother loves you!' and we tell them 'Tell them I said hi! (and what's her phone number?)'"

Up Next: people who won a contest! yay.

HHH as Braveheart WM 21 commercial.

Josh: "Can you imagine riding a donkey all the way to WrestleMania? That would make for one tired ass!" Romero fails to sell the joke. Josh really needs someone to stare at him and seethe. Anyway, contest winners

"Are You Tough Enough To Travel". This was one of those "watch Afterburn/Bottom Line, remember the clues, and answer a trivia question (about Tough Enough, hence the name)' dealios. Denise Siders, Dustin Diehm, Kirsten Miller all won - they all obviously get to bring a guest along, but no one mentions that. The went to the Rumble, and then rode in limos with Scotty 2 Hotty, Dawn Marie and Trish Stratus - to RAW? I guess, they don't say and it doesn't exactly explain why Dawn would be involved but let's assume she had nothing to do. Denise, in a limo with Trish, completely forgets the question won on, and Trish figures it must've been 'Is Maven Hot?'. (The answer: yes.) Trish talk about the winners getting an idea about how the wrestlers travel - except for the limo. Scotty, who sounds weird because he's sedate, talks about being stuck with fast food late because of what time they get out of the arena. It's all about the fans learning about what the wrestlers have to do, which is hard work. I can't believe I got a long paragraph out of this. I really can't believe it seemed to be more female than male winners. (1:51)

Up Next: #1 contenders tournament

WWE Slam Of The Week, brought to you by Clearsil: Dupree DCO Undertaker.

What does it say about this week's SD! that with a whole hour to kill, we're only getting to clips of it at the end of the show? That's less time than usual.

Booker vs Eddie. (5:10)

Here's them there brackets. I wish this wasn't completely obvious. What's weird is the seeding actually makes sense, if you'll allow that Rene Dupree isn't the lowest guy involved

  1. John Cena (US Champion)
  2. Undertaker
  3. Kurt Angle
  4. Eddie Guerrero
  5. Booker T
  6. Rey Mysterio
  7. Rene Dupree
  8. Orlando Jordan

1 faces 8, 2 versus 7, and so on, it works.

Romero: "this week from SmackDown! in Japan - that's right, I said JAPAN" with the tone one might reserve for WM from the Moon.
SD!: Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio in a quarterfinal of the #1 Contenders Tournament
SD!: John Cena vs Orlando Jordan in a quarterfinal of the #1 Contenders Tournament

Josh has learned how to say "off the chain" in Japanese, and yells it at us. "That's how they talk in Japan - lots of screaming."

That's it. "SAYONARA"
