From SmackDown: the National Anthem

open

Live from the old home of Excess (aka "the studio where they tape all the syndi highlight shows over the years), your hosts are Josh and Bill, both of appear to be stuck standing for an hour. Instead of getting a Best of Velocity or an hour off Best of SmackDown!, this is basically going to be an hour of Thursday's SmackDown! in Baghdad. In other words: This is a clip show, and perhaps the same clip show Afterburn got this weekend? I'm not sure I really want to know.

We start with Vince and Santa. Since I - having actually watched SmackDown! but picking a week where I couldn't have given it a number (uh, 2.7?), can I complain about Cole and Tazz? I mean, I know that, in one fashion or other, they fake like they're doing commentary "live" and "on Thursday" and I accept that and that's fine and all. It's just a little much when they go for the "live", "on Thursday", and "in Iraq" trifecta while all three are false, you know? Or maybe Tazz was dressed in camouflage in whatever production room they were doing the voiceovers from, what do I know.  (7:38)

SmackDown! Live
12/30 - Laredo, TX [SD!]
01/03 - Glendale, AZ [SD! Road to WMXX Tour]
01/04 - Albuquerque, NM [SD! Road to WMXX Tour]
01/05 - Nashville, TN [SD! Road to WMXX Tour]
01/06 - Huntsville, AL [SD!]

I had to watch that twice to make sure they were going from a stop in New Mexico to a stop in Tennessee. That'll be fun. Every house for either brand is "Road To WMXX Tour", so anyone can figure out when the tapings are just by watching that road sign not appear (or noting it's Tuesday, sure.)

Burger King Clothesline From Hell to Shelton of Thursday

Talk about Bradshaw and his experiences with the troops lead to Bill thanking his brother-in-law Victor, who's been called back into Iraq. Josh segues to

WWE wrestlers with the troops montage. (2:41)

Josh shows off two 5 Iraq (Dinar) bills that were brought back from Iraq, looking for a ten from DeMott. Bill: "What's the exchange rate on that?" Yahoo doesn't know, but I wouldn't think it'd be that promising. Talking about Eddie's experiences leads to

Eddie vs Benoit (5:16)

Visit with the 70915 Battalion. John Cena's Excitebike shirt is quite awesome. (1:00)

Can't this guy ever sit down and watch TV without being interrupted by someone? Must be tough on him.

Lugz Stinkface/Dance Routine. Which means we'll probably get to see Cena/Show later.

Josh quotes Andre3000, there's talk about Big in a cot, and yep, Cena. First, the rap and then the match. We cut out before Austin's music hits. (7:28)

Camp Anaconda. WELL IT'S THE BIG SHOW/IT'S THE BIG BAD SHOW TONIGHT. (1:12)

Vince on various news morning shows: CNNFN and  Fox News (:50)

Briefing on what to do if sniper fire breaks out during the show (:50)

Josh wears an army helmet in an effort to look like more of a dork than usual. Success! We segue to

Santa's Little Helper contest (4:49)

Fun at the shooting range (:40)

Stone Cold says thanks/stuns Show some more. (2:29)

SmackDown!: Tajiri (w/Akio and Sakoda, c) vs Rey Mysterio for the Cruiserweight Title

Josh and Bill wrap up. This is going to be the first Velocity with no over run ever, I believe.

Ah, wrap up video package is the over run: (05-403)

Confidential is now - and a rerun. Oh no this is the one where Edge is so pumped to go to a WrestleMania he won't make it to! I can't end this like that. Hmmm.

2003 Best of Velocity, looking back but not watching again :
- Rey Mysterio vs Shannon Moore, 03/01/03
- Tajiri vs Nunzio, 03/22/03
- FBI vs Los Guerreros and El Funaki, 04/12/03 (required Funaki match)
- Funaki/Spanky vs WGTT, 08/09/03 (or perhaps one of the other 100 variations on that theme )
- Matt Hardy/Shannon Moore vs Ultimo Dragon/Funaki, 09/06/03
- Rey Mysterio/Ultimo Dragon vs the FBI, 10/25/03

And that's it.
