March 22, 2008

ESTO says Hector Garza already wants an injury, blaming the loss on the right wrist he hurt during the match. I didn't see ESTO's bios of Lutteroth and Black Shadow yesterday, so there's the link for them today. SuperLuchas has Perro cutting a promo after the match. Steve Sims says the show was a sellout.

AAA's injury cursed 2008 continues: Zorro will be out several weeks after tearing something in his right leg during the Rey de Reyes final. The article says he expects to be back in April (so maybe he'll only miss a couple weeks of TV?) and lists him as #1 contender to the AAA Title. AAA still hasn't updated their website since pre-Rey de Reyes.

Arturo Rivera outs Skandalo as Panico's son, and says he's been hearing from promoters frustrated with CMLL forcing Skandalo on them. Arturo also says Magadan is working in the CMLL offices, which breaks the rule of all the announcers being employed by Televisa and not the promotions.

CMLL (TUE) 03/25 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Puma Kid & Semental
2) Atomo, Fantasy, Pequeño Olímpico vs Fire, Mr. Aguilita, Pierrothito
3) Alex Koslov, Felino, Máximo vs Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Ephesto, Misterioso II [MEX TRIOS]
5) Marco Corelone vs Terrible

Each of the three not previous announced matches has something interesting going on. This is Villano III's first match back since last December's appearance on the IWRG's Santo card. The timings makes it seem as though he was just secretly suspended for three months. This is also Atomo's first match in a while. Puma Kid was a name TJ Perkins was using while here with the Havana Brothers. It woudln't make a great deal of sense for him to be back working openers, but, hey, Grey Shadow's around.

CMLL (FRI) 03/28 Arena Mexico
1) Mini Olimpicio & Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Luna Mágica vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Rosa Negra
3) La Máscara, Máximo, Valiente vs Ephesto, Sangre Azteca, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Shocker vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V
5) Dos Caras Jr., LA Park, Místico vs Atlantis, Olímpico, Último Guerrero

V5 and Panther keep feuding. Shocker may be back. Main event plays of the PPV semimain, where Mistico & LA Park get revenge against the guys who beat them up after the match. Neither guy from the main event works this week.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #120
03/16 Coliseo: Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Mictlán vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
03/16 Coliseo: Sagrado, Último Dragón, Valiente vs Lizmark Jr., Olímpico, Sangre Azteca

Not sure what that means for FSE, except they're obviously getting the Volador/UG program.

I'd guess Puma Kid will be Puma King, Felino's other son?

Man, check out that tercera on Tuesday for Cadena tres! - Match of the Year for sure!! :D

Shitty lineups but always good to see the minis b&c-team and i'm also pleased to see Shocker back after a month or so.

Top tier tecnicos had been a bit thin on the ground in CMLL, but with Park being around more regularly, Shocker back, Garza turning and Axxel coming in, the roster's becoming stacked in that area.

If they do show the PPV next week i won't mind, because only the main is of any interest, and that would most likely find it's way onto a b-show anyway.

Chui wrote on (Reply):

I'm shocked Garza isn't booked next week... not really.

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Yeah, Puma Kid has to be Felino's other kid. Interesting he's a rudo and Kid Tiger is a tecnico. Felino is covering both angles!

Tuesday doesn't look too bad at all! Loving the segunda with Atomo returning and Mini Fantasy back on TV! The trios titles match has to be good... or at least you'd think so. Main event can't go long based on who is in it (hope that doesn't start a feud).

Friday's show: Haven't seen that opener in ages!:D Boring looking show otherwise but it has to be that way since they've gotta do a clean night aside from the Panther/Villano stuff that is going nowhere.

GdR got the weak show this week! I guess we have to wait two weeks now to see what FSE gets and if the mini's made it.:/

Well, if anyone thinks Konnan's fault is his 1996itis, run-ins, booking obscure talent like Teddy Hart, this lawsuit displays his biggest character flaw of all. Making enemies. In the end, that has always been his legacy.

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Looks like CMLL is starting the same time as their Cadena Tres show today.

Chui wrote on (Reply):

What lawsuit?

Rob wrote on (Reply):

He filed a lawsuit against TNA for discrimination. Seems silly on the surface but those WCW guys made out like bandits when they filed a similar suit so maybe Konnan is onto something.

luchalibrelive! wrote on (Reply):

Konnan filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against TNA.

Rob wrote on (Reply):

If TNA was smart they'd just apologize, hire him back and promise him a world title run. It's pretty obvious all Konnan wants is one last chance to be the star before the 10% of health he has left finally disapears.

luchalibrelive! wrote on (Reply):

He was making about $2,000 a week to manage LAX. Not bad.

Part of his lawsuit claims that Tenay makes about $4,000 a week to do commentary, while Konnan managed and did commentary in Spanish, and made only half as much. Of course, Spanish is not the primary broadcast language of TNA, but I guess his lawyer feels it worth a shot.

I'm watching AAA, just dying to see the Mexican Powers pop this week.

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Is there really nothing better to do in NY on a nice Saturday afternoon?:)

Chui wrote on (Reply):

2000 x 52, 104,000, so he was doing more than what Killings supposedly signed for WWE...

I think he'll be back in TNA, which might be bad since it would mean that TNA guys would be back in AAA.

luchalibrelive! wrote on (Reply):

How did you know we're having nice weather? I'll watch AAA in pieces as always. Noti is starting now.

Was it necessary for the Night Queens to use a shovel? Geez.

I really don't think Konnan will be back in TNA. His lawsuit alleges drug use among the top brass. That kind of lawsuit makes Konnan enemies throughout the business.

CMLL TV has...

MINI'S FROM SUNDAY!

Women from last Friday.

Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Máximo b Damián 666, Ephesto, Texano Jr. from 3/9 @ Arena Coliseo which means FSE is gonna be a very weird show this week and next week unless it's a replay.

Rob wrote on (Reply):

In previewing the mini's match from Sunday they showed clips of Tzuki from the Sunday before. YAY!

I might not be turning on Cadena Tres today. Well... maybe for the semi-main.

NQ's have been using a shovel since day one, it's their thing. The MP's use barbed wire bats and flaming tables.

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Not the best match the mini's have had but better than anything else that will air today I'm sure.:) Dragoncito's tope in the third fall was AWESOME! 4 ROWS BACK! Just a shame it wasn't on any fans.:(

Just to keep track of these things:

Wed in Acapulco = Sombra vs Misterioso for the NWA Welterweight Title.

Also when announcing which "CMLL superstars" would be in Guadalajara this week, they mentioned Vaquero!:o

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Goddess really isn't very athletic. That cartwheel she does is pathetic...

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Momentos was a repeat of the week of the Pequeno Reyes Del Aire. Works for me!

Hmmm if they're airing a 3/9 match, that means there is still a chance the Tzuki match from 3/9 will air on FSE tomorrow or next week! YAY!:D

Rob wrote on (Reply):

So can we finally give up on the Neutron is still good theory?

Neutron = Tony Rivera = Mictlan.

Rob wrote on (Reply):

BTW Keith - if you want to see how amateurish CMLL can be, get a tape of today's show. The main event is airing with two audio tracks. The announcers are barely being heard over generic noise in the background of the ring announcer announcing names from some past show and other random music playing.

Tim wrote on (Reply):

The opener wasn't bad on Cadena Tres. The second fall in particular was good. But the feed is shitty again this week so screw it.

Chui wrote on (Reply):

I was watching IWRG which aired at the same time as CMLL, but Rayo vs Cien Jr is coming up, so I guess I'll switch to CMLL on Gala...

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Anything good on IWRG? Mini Skayde???

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Sombra is amazing.

Fabian's moonsault is so fucking scary...

luchalibrelive! wrote on (Reply):

Production is almost never a complaint people have about CMLL. But I still think MVS does an acceptable job. Not sure why they have the audio glitch, unless the had to do in-studio voice overs for the special post-PPV episode.

Multimedios is by far the worst Lucha in Mexico, and perhaps the worst production in the world.

Rob wrote on (Reply):

OOF. Super Luchas says Zorro is out *3 months*. Right in time for Triplemania though.

Chui wrote on (Reply):

It was IWRG in TVC not the Azteca one, was a show from Ixtapa, which I didn't even remember being talked about anywhere...

Rob wrote on (Reply):

Ixtapa? From December? That was ages ago.
