CMLL (WED) 03/26 Arena Coliseo Acapulco [Columbiux]
1) La Sombra b Misterioso II [NWA WELTER]

1) ? & Súper Camaleón b Angel Perverso & Ministro de la Muerte
2) Molotov & Trueno b Pólvora & Vaquero
3) Electrico, Fantasy, Shockercito b Fire, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Black Warrior
4) Flash, Leono, Stuka Jr. b Hooligan, Loco Max, Nitro
5) Felino, Shocker, Valiente b Black Warrior, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca

Hooligan replaced Arkangel. Shockercito and Warrior were challenging each other into a mask match.

CMLL (SUN) 03/30 Arena Coliseo [ova]
1) Sensei & Sombra de Plata b Carrona & Cholo
2) Dr. X, Hooligan, Loco Max b Ángel Azteca Jr., Astro Boy, Neutrón
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico b Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera
4) Alex Koslov, La Máscara, La Sombra b Misterioso II, Olímpico, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., LA Park DQ Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V

Tecnicos won the main event in two falls. Villanos could have won the second fall but preferred to rip Panther's mask to shreds. Panther ended up hurt as well. Still don't believe this is going anywhere until a match is announced. Hooligan replaced Nitro in the segunda.

CMLL (SUN) 03/30 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
5) Mascarita Dorada & Tzuki b Pequeño Damian 666 & Pierrothito
6) Averno, Mephisto, Terrible b Grey Shadow, Marco Corelone, Sagrado

Mephisto got away with a foul on Sagrado.

indy (SUN) 03/30 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Peuqeno Demonio b Mascara de Fuego
2) Red Flamer L Danger Boy, Rey Demonio Jr., Imperio Romando, Arlequin, Corazon Adictor, Fomer Love, Misionero [mask, hair, torneo]
3) Tonia Jackson Jr. b Pancho Tequila [FILL SUPER HEAVY]
4) Huracan Ramirez Jr. & Ultramán Jr. b Hijo de Espanto II & The King [FILL TAG]
5) Golden Boy, Humberto Garza Jr., Huracan Ramirez b Dr. Tormenta, Jaque Mate, Simbolo
6) Hator DRAW Aventurero

CMLL (SUN) 03/30 Arena Neza [heri 99]
1) Dark Devil & Freeszbe vs Black Lancer & Puma King
2) Black Bird, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II vs Mohicano I, Mohicano II, Terror Boricua
3) Dark Angel & Goddess vs Hiroka & Mima Shimoda
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Misterioso II, Olímpico [MEX TRIOS]

I think Misterioso went 0 for 2 in title shots this week.

AAA (MON) 03/31 Arena Cuatro Caminos Nuevo Laredo [RFC]
1) Decnnis, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido vs Hombre Sin Miedo, Laredo Kid, Sangre Chicana
2) Brazo de Plata, La Parka Jr., Octagón vs Antifaz del Norte, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II

El Morro Cotudo writes about a indy wrestling promotion in Northern Chile

3 armed robbers nicknamed "WWF Shotgun bandits" in Orange County, CA sure seemed to have lucha masks on. Lucha masks with Houston Texans logos on them, but still. (thanks to mike informer)

March 30, 2008

Today's Ovaciones update has a completely random "Dr. Wagner may be going to WWE, but Super Porky thought he was signing for three years until the contract was pulled" newsbit. I have heard no other suggestions of Wagner going to WWE so I would not take it as meaning much.

I expect such wackiness from Arturo Rivera. His weekend column complains about WWE advertising Rey Misterio Jr. and only revealing he'd be out of action for the Mexico tour after first day tickets went on sale. Arturo also says Mr. Condor ended up in the hospital after stepping thru a false floor (and landing on the level below, I guess.)

CMLL (SUN) 04/06 Arena Coliseo
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Méssala & Pólvora
2) Atomo, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
4) Grey Shadow, Máximo, Valiente vs Mr. Águila, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) Dos Caras Jr., Místico, Shocker vs Atlantis, Toscano, Último Guerrero

Look who's back! Yay for Toscano getting paid.

AAA's news column says Pimpinela and Cassandro are starting "Las Divas del Ring" to combat the Night Queens.

Accion's CMLL highlights were of the main event. Almost all dives except for the finihs. Dos seemed to hurt his right arm on his accidental tope of Mistico. AAA had the Rey de Reyes. Niebla and Abismo weren't shown brawling away, but Abismo did take out Niebla (and the announce desk) with a dive. Zorro's partners were unbelivably happy about Zorro winning.

Oh, by the way:

CMLL FSE Guerreros del Ring #85
03/09 Coliseo: Fire, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Bracito de Oro, Pequeño Olímpico, Tzuki
03/09 Coliseo: Amapola b Dark Angel [CMLL WOMEN]

(so I'm going to have post both matches, huh)

Not much to say for the show. If you want details, feel free to ask for them.

ELLMEX (SAT) 03/29 Estadio Concord, Chicago, IL
1) 149 Punisher b Will E Blythe
2) Angel de la Muerte, Bazooka, Diabolico b Horoscopo, Mascara de Jade, Yuki
3) Infernal, Principe Azteca I, Principe Azteca II b Discovery, Rey Fuego, Ricky
4) Kato Kung Lee Jr. & Zuleyma b El Dorado & La Sirenita
5) Magno & Principe Franky CO Black Fish & Mano Negra
6) Lola Gonzalez DQ Xochitl Hamada [WWW WOMEN]

I'm not sure on the non-Jade names in the second match. Yuki was apparently a rudo stuck teaming with the tencicos. He got into it and had issues with Diabolico, only for those two to end up jumping Rey Furego and Ricky after the tercera. A hair/hair vs mask/hair match was set up for next week.

Title is the same one from Todos x el Todos that had fifteen different names. Kato Kung Lee had his UWA title, so it still does exist.

March 29, 2008

CMLL (FRI) 03/28 Arena Mexico [ova, ESTO, SuperLuchas]
1) Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween b Mini Olimpico & Último Dragoncito
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Luna Mágica b Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Rosa Negra
3) Ephesto, Sangre Azteca, Virus b La Máscara, Máximo, Valiente
4) Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Shocker b Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V
5) Atlantis, Olímpico, Último Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., LA Park, Místico

Panther yanked Villano's mask for the pin in the semimian.

Tecs were rolling to a straight fall victory in the main event, but Ultimo faked a foul from Park in the second, then Ultimo slipped in a foul on Park when he was trying to pin Olimpico in the third. Park was wearing a Bestia Salvaje t-shirt.

CMLL (TUE) 04/01 Arena Mexico
1) Súper Camaleón & Súper Tri vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Astro Boy, Leono, Trueno vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Hooligan
3) Flash, Mictlán, Tony Rivera vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
4) Heavy Metal, La Máscara, La Sombra vs Olímpico, Sangre Azteca, Universo 2000
5) Héctor Garza, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible

Is that the payment for the Mexican National Light Heavyweight title? I can think of no other reason for Vangelis to be here. It's not (necessarily) about good or bad, it's about the eight hundred other guys they have.

CMLL (FRI) 04/04 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov, Sombra de Plata, Starman vs Apocalipsis, Ramstein, Zayco
2) Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr., Súper Nova vs Loco Max, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
3) Axxel, La Máscara, Sagrado vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
4) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto vs Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico
5) LA Park vs Último Guerrero

Ultimo Guerrero says if he loses this match, he will agree to a mask match. So mark that down as a win. Semimain resumes the issues from the PPV. Axxel is still being spelled "Axel" on CMLL's website, and I wonder if there's a deal there. No Panther/Villano.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #121
03/23 Coliseo; Satánico, Shigeo Okumura, Virus b Fabián el Gitano, Felino, Mictlán
03/23 Coliseo: Último Guerrero b Volador Jr.

I don't quite understand why the final lead up trios match wasn't on this show last week, but okay. That one's getting ripped and put up later.

March 28, 2008

triple moonsault/Litok Vera for CMLL

CMLL (FRI) 03/28 Arena Mexico
1) Mini Olimpicio & Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Luna Mágica vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Rosa Negra
3) La Máscara, Máximo, Valiente vs Ephesto, Sangre Azteca, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Shocker vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V
5) Dos Caras Jr., LA Park, Místico vs Atlantis, Olímpico, Último Guerrero

Ovaciones focuses more on the semimain than the main event, thanks to the ongoing Villano V/Blue Panther rivalary.

ESTO pushes Shocker trying to return to form (for the upteenth time) and Park & Mistico as unlikely partners. Unless I'm missing a turn someplace, the last time Park went to the rudo side, it was because he got annoyed with Mistico on Kid's Day. The Notimex story pushes Park/Mistico teamup.

ESTO's notes column mentions Medussa is out six weeks due to an elbow injury. Elsewhere, Euforia is leading a fight against tuberculosis.

ESTO also reposts AAA's preview of the Torreon show next week. El Sol de Cuautla put it in their own words, which is a point for them. No one seems to know Teddy Hart is Canadian.

According to Luchas2000 (and reposted by others)
- CMLL's about to debut yet another Bronco
- Rayo de Jalisco Jr. has been stripped of the WWA World Heavyweight Championship for no showing that four way title match in Tijuana earlier this month (where Nicho filled in and lost instead.) Unless/Until someone else shows up in possession of the belt, I have trouble believing this.

CMLL LLA (SUN) 03/23 Gimnasio Neuvo Leon [Josedjesus @ el Martiente]
1) Coyote & Tequilita b Pedro Navajas & Sombre del Ring
2) Angel Dorado Jr., Galactar, Regio Boy b Black panther, Diabolico, the King
3) Principe de Oro, Principe de Plata, Rey Apostol b Flecha Azul, Koko Viper, Memo Valles
4) Gato Volador, Orientale I, Orientale II b Bengali, Difunto I, Difunto II
5) Valiente b Vaquero Romo [hair]

CMLL (TUE) 03/25 Arena Coliseo Gudalajara [cmll]
1) Thunder Boy b Azazel
2) Evola b Danger (Guadalajara)
3) Guero Loco b Nube Roja
4) Metal Blanco b Vaquero
5) Místico b Blue Panther, La Máscara, El Gallo, Metailk, Lizmark Jr., Texano Jr., Mr. Águila, Sangre Azteca, Nitro, Mr. Trueno, Angel Azteca Jr. [ciber]

I love when Guadalajara reports shows up on CMLL. Not just because it's nice to know what happens there, but because the writer does stuff like segueing from "The Year Of The Cat" to the main event, where it was nearly the year of the cat. The seeding battle royal left the teams as

A) Gallo, Mr. Thunder, Blue Panther, Sangre Azteca, Mascara, Averno
B) Angel Azteca Jr., Nitro, Metalik, Mr. Aguila, Texano Jr., Mistico

Mistico was not happy to be teaming with so many rudos, but I guess fighting Averno allowed him to get over it.

- Angel Azteca (by Mr. Trueno)
- Mr. Trueno (by Metalik)
- Nitro (by Gallo)
- Metalik (by Averno)
- Averno (by Mistico, in the usual way)
- Gallo (by Texano)
- Mr. Aguila (by La Mascara)
- La Mascara (by Texano
- Texano (by Blue Panther)
- Sangre Azteca (by Mistico)
- Blue Panther (by Mistico)

Metal Blanco had Vaquero beat in the third fall, but Infierno ran in for the DQ. Metal Blanco wants a mask vs hair match, but Vaquero has yet to accept. This vacation looks to end sadly.

CMLL (SAT) 03/29 Gimnasio de la USMA, Panama City, Panama [Dia Daia Online]
1) Amapola vs Princesa Blanca [CMLL WOMEN]
2) Celestial, Negro Casas, Sandokan vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Ken-Swi, Shigeo Okumura

I may be a day off on that date. Critica en Linea previews the show with a brief Amapola bio.

indy (SUN) 03/30 Arena Ray Alcantara [Noticias Oaxaca]
1) Olimpia vs Columbia
2) Furia Azteca & Mini Zombie vs Dios Egipcio & Samael
3) Angel Nazi & Principe Fenix vs Principe Azul & Zombie
4) Subzero & Super Aguila vs Casanova & Muerte Jr.
5) Conde Salazar, Payaso Arlequin, Vuelo Espacial vs Arkamos, Challenger, Flecha India

This is Vuelo Espacial's fairwell show. He's moving to DF.

indy (SUN) 03/30 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Red Flamer vs Rey Demonio Jr., Imperio Romando, Arlequin, Corazon Adictor, Fomer Love, Danger Boy, Misionero [mask, hair, torneo]
2) Pancho Tequila vs Tonia Jackson Jr. [FILL SHEAVY]
3) Huracan Ramirez Jr. & Ultramán Jr. vs Hijo de Espanto II & The King
4) Golden Boy, Humberto Garza Jr., Huracan Ramirez vs Dr. Tormenta, Jaque Mate, Simbolo
5) Hator vs Aventurero

CMLL (MON) 03/31 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Black Terry, Fuerza Chicana, Negro Navarro vs Centella de Oro, Lestat, the Tiger
2) Asturiano, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Espiritu Maligno, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
3) Loco Max, Nitro, Skandalo vs Máximo, Metálico, Stuka Jr.
4) Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Valiente vs Averno, Mephisto, Texano Jr.
5) Místico & Último Guerrero vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Terrible [ri]

That's going to end badly for someone.

The San Pedro Sun writes (in English) about a show in Belize. The luchadors were flown in from Chetumal, Mexico instead of any native guys (so far.)

(Periodico Digital) CMLL and indy talent are scheduled for a show on 04/19 at Tlaxcala's fair.

March 27, 2008

Previous: 03/16 (Monterrey, Rey de Reyes), 04/05 (Torreon), 04/10 (Toluca)

1) Danger, Gato Eveready, Milenium vs Bestia Metalico, Mega, R-15
2) Billy Boy, Pegasso, Super Fly vs Gallego, Gran Apache, Mr. Cóndor
3) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera vs Extreme Tiger, Halloween, TJ Xtreme
4) Charly Manson & Chessman vs Jack Evans & Teddy Hart
5) Abismo Negro, Intocable, Super Porky vs ?, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II
6) Cibernetico & La Parka Jr. vs Konnan & Zorro

Projected air date (#833)
Mexico: 04/27 - lag building up again
US: 05/17

Edit 03/28: added Charly/Chessman vs Jack/Teddy. That could be some fun.

Original: This is hyped as La Parka Jr.'s (latest) return match. That's going to be a tough main event.

Abismo teaming with Intocable and Porky might be very rough on him. That ? spot should be Histeria and I'm not too sure what's going on there. Maybe Antifaz still exists?

This will be Crazy's in-ring debut, and the feud with Tijuana goes on. They're probably going to end up doing the title change at some point to make this go on even longer.

Like the previous taping, this feels a match short. Maybe two - that opener (with everyone's favorite videographer) can not possibly be a TV match, but it would seem to be given how few other matches are here.

Upcoming tapings
none announced

Previous: 03/09 (Texcoco), 03/16 (Monterrey, Rey de Reyes), 04/05 (Torreon)

AAA TV (THU) 04/10 Gimnasio Agustin Millan, Toluca
1) Argenis, el Ángel, Gato Eveready vs Operativo, Picudo, Toxico AAA
2) Nygma, Polvo de Esterllas, Yuriko vs Casandro, Pasion Cristal, Pimpinela Escarlata
3) Joe Lider & Juventud Guerrera vs Extreme Tiger & Halloween
4) Histeria, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II vs Abismo Negro, Charly Manson, Chessman
5) Escoria, Mesias, Ozz vs Electro Shock, Kenzo Suzuki, Zorro

Projected air date (#832)
Mexico: 04/20
US: 05/10

I can't believe they're bringing in Evans and Hart and can't keep them five days to work an extra taping. This show feels like it's a match short - we're missing mins, women, or an Apache family drama.

If Zorro's getting subbed out of the main event in Torreon, he's working a lot after it. He's booked for the next taping as well.

Abismo starts on the tecnico side. It's not just teaming with the Hell Brothers...

Figure on Crazy Boy making his return in that tag match. Pasion Cristal is a random exotico. I think I should know who Operativo is but I don't.

Upcoming tapngs
- 04/16 (Celaya)

either Alfonso Lizarraga
or Jose Lazaro Rodriguez
for The Gladiatores

AAA (FRI) 03/21 Arena Azteca Budokan [the gladiatores]
1) Kagura, Rey Dragon, Sobredosis b Clinico, Galactico, Rey Neza
2) Caballero Nocturno, Sexy Amazonas, Skullman b Andromeda, Piloto Fantasma, Ricky Gonzalez
3) Fabi Apache, Gran Apache, Mari Apache b Estrellita, Oriental, Rossy Moreno
4) Mini Charly Manson & Mini Cibernetico b Mr. Takote, Octagoncito
5) La Parka Jr., Charly Manson, Chessman b Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Super Calo

The show stealer is that photo. Rossy just beat Estrellita with a chair and her fist until she bled. And she sure did bleed. They're doing a hair match in April. In the main event, Parka started out in the match but the Stones attcked his hurt arm in the first fall, and was taken to the match. Angel replaced him, and the tecnicos rallied to win the second, then won the third when Parka came back out to help.

Also important: Super Calo's Fu Man Chu mustache. A fine idea.

CMLL (THU) 03/20 Arena Neza [thegladiatores]
1) Dare Devil & Freesbe b Black Lancer & Puma King
2) Molotov & Trueno b Calígula & Méssala
3) Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito
4) Felino, La Sombra, Leono b Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Nitro
5) Místico, Negro Casas, Stuka b Averno, Damián 666, Mephisto

Stuka replaced Alex.

AAA (MON) 03/24 Arena Cuatro Caminos de Nuevo Laredo [RFC]
3) Decnnis, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido b Hombre Sin Miedo, Laredo Kid, Sangre Chicana
4) Charly Manson, Gronda II, La Parka Jr. b Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz

On Box y Lucha, writer Javier Munoz shares his memories of traveling with Bestia Salvaje. Another columnist, Fernando Alvarez, says Mistico is booed because he's not humble enough and oversensitive to the booing.

Rey_Fuego @ Satanico's Mansion reposted Record's list of The Top 75 Luchadors (in Mexico) Over The Last 75 Years. I'm going to put in after the jump because it's a long list, but it's pretty interesting to see who doesn't quite make the list.

March 26, 2008

FSE-US: Amapola vs Dark Angel for the belt.

CAN52: I think Alex/Panther/Corelone vs Warrior/Ephesto/Olimpico

AAA-US: Super Porky CAGED. Also, well, not too much also. There's the Clowns vs the Sect, that'll work.

---------

CMLL: 2 hours, so I'd guess the top three. It occurs to me just now that if Axxel is right (he's debuting next weekend) and Arturo Rivera is right (replay of the PPV next week), Axxel still isn't making TV. Coincidence?

AAA-MEX: Rey de Reyes. I'm completely guessing on the lineup - Clowns, Ladder, Atomico, Title match - but it's as good as best any.

FSE-MEX: Tuareg vs tecnicos, Ultimo/Volador. FSE is totally going to win this week.

CadenaTres: Title match and Marco/Terrible.

CMLL (MON) 03/24 Arena Puebla [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
1) Forjido & Legionario b Aguila Guerrera & Ares
2) Fuerza Chicana, Karisma, Siki Osama Jr. b Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, Cocolores
3) Fantasy, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito b Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Damian 666, Pierrothito
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Shocker DQ el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Main event came down to Garza vs Perro, and Perro got caught fouling Hector this time. Semimain finished with TRIPLE Atlantidas on the Mexican Trios champs. Title rematch? Dorada got Damian again in the minis match. Surprised to see Cocos lose to locals.

CMLL (TUE) 03/25 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, cmll]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II b Puma King & Semental
2) Fire, Mr. Aguilita, Pierrothito b Atomo, Fantasy, Pequeño Olímpico
3) Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V b Alex Koslov, Felino, Máximo
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. b Damián 666, Ephesto, Misterioso II [MEX TRIOS]
5) Marco Corelone DQ Terrible

Marco won in straight falls, getting fouled in the second. Main event sounds a bit iffy in Ovaciones. Trios champs got in the triple dive from a corner, won clean and were congralutaed by their opponents after the match. I'm presuming that's Puma King in the opener, but everyone's still calling him Puma Kid.

CMLL explained more about it's plans to honor past stars during this 75th anniversary year. They'll be bringing guys from the past back to be recognized, and they've announced the first group:
- Estrella Blanca
- Zaeta Azteca (no info on the wiki?)
- Tony Lopez (wrestled as the original La Sombra)
- Manuel Robles
- Leon Negro (the original, not Psicosis II)

They'll be honored on the 04/11 Coliseo and 04/13 Mexico shows.

CMLL (THU) 03/27 Arena Neza
1) ?, Electrico, Fantasy vs Fire, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Black Warrior
2) Molotov & Trueno vs Pólvora & Vaquero
3) Flash, Leono, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro
4) Felino, Shocker, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca

I'm piecing that lineup from Box Y Lucha's usual scrambled Neza info and may not be accurae.

CMLL (SUN) 03/30 Arena Neza
1) Dark Devil & Freesbe vs Black Lancer & Puma King
2) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Mohicano I & Mohicano II
3) Dark Angel & Goddess vs Hiroka & Mima Shimoda
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Misterioso II, Olímpico

Champs are teaming a lot lately. Just not on my TV.

AULL (SUN) 03/30 Arena Lopez Mateos [box y lucha]
1) Dragon Sagrado, Rey Krystal, Sombra Escarlata vs Hombre de Guerra, Sol de Oriente, Tormenta
2) Caramelo, Super Nino, X-Men vs Cerebro Maligno, Epitafio, Herejia

4) Chucho el Roto, Terry 2000, Yakuza vs Sadico, Sepulturero I, Ultimo Gladiador

Terry 200 and Sadico are scheduled to fight for the AULL title on 04/09.

CMLL (SUN) 03/30 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Novato vs Milenio
2) Thunder Boy vs Valentin Mayo
3) Casanova & Oro II vs Fraile de la Muerte & Guero Loco
4) Metal Blanco & Metalik vs Depredador & Vaquero
5) Mascarita Dorada & Tzuki vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pierrothito
6) Averno, Mephisto, Terrible vs Grey Shadow, Marco Corelone, Sagrado

CMLL (TUE) 04/01 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Thunder Boy vs Quazar
2) Virgo vs Ebola
3) Lider vs Asesino Negro
4) Metatron vs Vaquero
5) Pierrothito vs Tzuki
6) Axxel, Gallo, Máximo vs Malefico, Misterioso II, Toxico
7) Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone vs Rey Bucanero & Texano Jr.

Is that Axxel's start date? The biggest match of Vaquero's career?

DTU (FRI) 04/04 Auto Lavado VM, Tulancingo, Hidalgo [RFC]
1) Agula Misteriosa & Ragde vs Black Fire & Dement Xtreme
2) Paranoiko & Psicopata vs Rey Krimen & Sepulturero I
3) Sadico vs Talaxys, Metal Boy, Amo de la Noche, Money Pack, Terry 2000, Pesadilla, Freelance, Aero Boy, Tony Boy, Titan
4) Cerebro Negro & Dancy Boy vs Fantasma e la Opera & Toxico
5) Demoledor & Mike Suicida vs Angel o Demonio & Violento Jack

MrCoyote @ box y lucha posted lots of photos from the Arena Xalapa show on Sunday.

Box Y Lucha #2863 has bad Hector.

4) Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Gladiador vs Jack Evans, Kenzo Suzuki, Teddy Hart
5) Alan Stone, El Elegido, Laredo Kid vs Cuervo, Mesias, Ozz
6) Cibernetico vs Zorro

Projected air date (#831)
Mexico: 04/13
US: 05/03

Huh. I have no idea what Zorro getting the singles match now means. Are they just going to kill him off now? Are they accelerating the title chase to get it over with in a few weeks? Is this just typical AAA of running all the angles in the 3 tapings after the major show and doing nothing for six weeks? I don't have a read on this.

Would Zorro vs Cibernetico for the title alone fill Palacio de los Deportes?

Semimain checks in on the status of Mesias. If he's going tecnico, he's losing here and having issues with his partners.

Fourth match is Jack Evans debut and Teddy Hart's first non-ladder match in AAA. Kenzo's an odd fit for the match.

Tercera is designed to make the Apaches feud more confusing. There's no way for Billy to win that.

Toxico hasn't been around in a while, Picudo's not been around in a while longer.

Upcoming Tapings
04/10: Toluca

4) El Fantasma & Negro Navarro b Lizmark Sr. & Solar I
5) Fantasma de la Quebrada L El Hijo del Solitario, Black Fish, Dos Caras Sr., Shu el Guerrero, Super Muneco, Black Man Jr., Astro de Oro, Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Sagrada [cage, mask]

Fantasma de la Queberada was supposed to lose his mask last year, no-showed over a pay dispute, and vowed to retire. So at least he got around to losing this mask. As you might suspect, he left the cage only to return while Black Fish and Hijo del Solitario fought. Fish snuck out, and Hijo del Solitario beat Fantasma de la Quebrada for his mask win. His real name was announced as Edmundo Ibaes Salas from Acapulco. He also introduced his son, Fantasma de la Quebrada Jr., who vowed revenge.

CMLL (SUN) 03/23 Arena Coliseo Gudalajara [KrisZ, cmll]
1) Thunder Boy b Quazar
2) Ebola b Danger (Guadalajara)
3) Infierno & Super Maquina b Casanova & Metatron
4) Metal Blanco & Metalik DQ Depredador (Guadalajara) & Vaquero
5) Malefico, Nitro, Toxico b Ángel Azteca Jr., Gallo, Leon Blanco
6) Dos Caras Jr., La Sombra, Sagrado b Atlantis, Euforia, Sangre Azteca

Vaquero and Depredador fouled one tecnico and yanked the mask of the other to score the DQ. Looks to be a feud here, which would partially explain the mystery of Vaquero's appearance here.

CMLL (MON) 03/24 Arena Puebla
1) Forjido & Legionario vs Aguila Guerrera & Ares
2) Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, Cocolores vs Fuerza Chicana, Karisma, Siki Osama Jr.
3) Fantasy, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Damian 666, Pierrothito
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Shocker vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Texano Jr.

IWRG (THU) 03/27 Arena Naucalpan [ova, box y lucha]
1) Mascarita Sagrada (original) & Pequeno Volador vs Mini Universo & Pentagoncito
2) Cocolores, Miss Gaviota, Payaso Coco Verde vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
3) Aeroman, Negro Navarro, Ultramán Jr. vs El Hijo del Diablo, el Hijo del Pierroth, Veneno
4) el Hijo Del Anibal, El Hijo del Solitario, Tarzan Boy vs Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Septiembre Negro II

IWRG (SUN) 03/30 Arena Naucalpan [ova, box y lucha]
1) Avisman & Chico Che vs Nemesis IWRG & Rockero del Diablo
2) Fantasma de la Ópera, Filoso IWRG, Freelance vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
3) Multifacético, Negro Navarro, Zatura vs Arlequin, Black Terry, Ventarron
4) Aeroman, LA Park, Solar I, Tarzan Boy vs Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Universo 2000

I forgot to say this earlier, but I'm guessing - sight unseen - new wrestler Aeroman is old wrestler Bogeman without a sponsor.

ESTO writes an article about Abismo Negro as Televisa wrestler of the year 2007 and does not actually state a reason for Abismo winning the award. To be fair, the only reason I've been able to discern is Abismo was secretly the inspiration for Amy Winehouse's hit single.

It also happens to be nearly the exact article posted on AAA's site. Yay for press release copy masquerading as journalism.

Arturo Rivera raves about the CMLL PPV and says it'll air on TV in two weeks.

More tomorrow. We'll see if I can get over AAA doing Zorro vs Cibernetico mano y mano on the first TV taping after Rey de Reyes enough tomorrow to post that lineup.

taped 07/01/07, aired 07/28/08

or random unfinished recaps on my computer/TiVo, timed to show up on a morning where I won't be around. Now I've got to grab a Canibal picture off of this. Anyway, this is pretty brief adn sparse, and how could you care because it's a taping from nine months ago.

This is the show where Mesias and Abismo faked like they were turning on the Legion for 2 hours/3 minutes respectfully - hey, Mesias and Abismo feuding with the Legion seems a tiny bit familiar. Here, it was all just to get be able to attack Cibernetico from behind. I thought this was pretty pointless at the time and still think so, but it's something not as overdone as in the US so I'm not as willing to fight to the death about it.

I remember really really disliking the Juvi/Fuerza match and didn't give it another chance to win me over this time. Oh well. Apache Army 2k7 vs the Air Force remained pretty fun.

I have the following week's TV to fill in the gap and I think I will at some point, but it'll probably be really short like this.

BTW, I've changed how the indexes are done. If something doesn't work for you, give me a heads up.

March 24, 2008

On CMLL FSE in the US, we got

03/02 Coliseo
Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Princesa Blanca b Amapola, Medussa, Rosa Negra
Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr. b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca

Anyone else watch this? I skimmed thru it and noticed there was a fall missing. The not-live show before it ran late, so things had probably been running late all afternoon, but naturally lucha is the show they take a bite out of to catch up.

FSE/MVS also dropped the sound for the whole show. It's not even like last time, where just the announce teams were missing - there's absolutely no sound, as if you accidentally hit mute. (I didn't, I checked.) The commercials are totally normal, so it's gotta be with the show.

The Televisa show aired:
2008-03-16 Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito b Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
2008-03-14 Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela
2008-03-09 Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Máximo b Damián 666, Ephesto, Texano Jr.

So Mexico's FSE aired the 03/16 main event AND one of
- a repeat of the minis match from this week's Televisa show
- a repeat of last week's Mexico segunda from last week's Televisa show
- the Coliseo opener?

I have no idea which it was.

Mocking AAA's lack of updates gets them to update. Or it's nice coincidence. Anyway, the news you can use is AAA's story on Zorro's injury. According to them, Zorro had a hurt right leg for "several weeks", but expected to be back in the first week of April. Which may mean no TV time missed - the next taping is offically announced as April 5 - and may mean Zorro's back but he's very protected for a while.

The news update also has Crazy Boy returning that first week of April, and speculates Palacio de los Deportes will be the home of TripleMania (which has already been leaked.)

SoloLuchas is a new news site which looks to have a lot of potential (and as you'll see from the links, actual news), and will hopefully realize that making it's entrance page a flash animation is really annoying and must stop. There's a lot of good stuff there, but I'd like it more if they had an RSS feed and didn't break up their results one match per page.

CMLL (SUN) 03/23 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones, Sololuchas: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
1) Sensei & Trueno b Carrona & Cholo
2) Hooligan, Loco Max, Skandalo b Metálico, Starman, Súper Nova
3) Satánico, Shigeo Okumura, Virus b Fabián el Gitano, Felino, Mictlán
4) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Marco Corelone b Black Warrior, Ephesto, Olímpico
5) Último Guerrero b Volador Jr.

Main event went short, short, long. Volador went up top for a moonsault (I assume), but Ultimo stopped him and gave him the Guerrero Special for the pin. Volador again comes up short but hangs tough with a top rudo. Nothing else much of note.

IWRG AZTECA (SUN) 03/23 Arena Naucalpan [Sololuchas: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
1) Chico Che & Star Boy b Judas el Traidor & Nemesis IWRG
2) Fantasma de la Ópera, Filoso IWRG, Freelance b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro [super libre]
3) Cerebro Negro, Mr. Matanza, Veneno b Centauro, Miss Gaviota, Negro Navarro
4) Multifacético b Black Terry [IWRG IC WELTER]
5) Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Universo 2000 b Aeroman, el Hijo Del Anibal, Solar I, Tarzan Boy

SoloLuchas' report says 90% of the fans were cheering for Black Terry. Oh well.

Fox News follows up on the Super Mojado story; they were expecting 200 and drew 400 and raised $4,000 for their charity show. You know, there's a long socio-political discussion we could have right here, about the gimmick and the INS raids that preceded it, but I think I should just point you to the pictures to point out the real story here: Super Mojado teamed with Huracan Ramirez! That man is everywhere at once, it's unbelivable. LA Times also has an article on the show, and it's not everyday Dollar and Peso get namechecked.

Rey Misterio Jr. is running away with the Televisa Deportes awards. I wonder if he'd be allowed to show up to accept, since WWE is on MVS networks and they're feuding with Televisa.

Rey Mistero Sr. was interviewed about WrestleManiac: "It's not Santo and Blue Demon against zombies, with flying vampires on visible wires, but the nation will enjoy it."

March 23, 2008

note the small amount of flame/ESTO

The FCW FMLL show last night was almost derailed by Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo del Santo being detained by immigration. Santo says someone called immigration to alert them of Santo and Demon coming thru, but they did end up making it to the show anyway. Santo never specifies who he thinks did it, but it seems like he has someone in mind. There's pictures of the show over on So Cal Uncensored's board.

SuperLuchas #256 has many pages recapping Dos Leyendas. They confirm there was no moment of applause for Bestia Salvaje, which is very disappointing. I think I understand what I believe to be the reasoning - the night was about remembering two other people and they didn't want to take away from it - but I completely and totally disagree with it.

IWRG (SUN) 03/16 Arena Naucalpan [Superluchas #256]
1) Ambar & Bacteria b Nemesis IWRG & Taz el Feroz
2) Chico Che & Star Boy b Rey Estruendo & Rockero del Diablo
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Fantasma de la Ópera, Filoso, Freelance
4) Capitán Muerte, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Ventarron b El Fantasma, Miss Gaviota, Zatura
5) Black Dragon, Multifacético, Pantera b Cerebro Negro, Cyborg, Xibalva [capitans hair]

Multifacetico took Cyborg's hair, pinning him directly in the third fall. Toscano was replaced by Zatura.

Solar I was scheduled to replace Groon in tonight's IWRG taping. That's a slight difference. Ovaciones also says Shocker's going to work here, since he's not getting booked by CMLL much. (I read that as "suspension", but he's supposed to be back next week.) Did Tarzan show up tonight? Will Multifacteico's super push include a title win? I don't know, IWRG's site is still down.

ELL MEX (SUN) 03/23 Chicago, IL [superluchas]
1) Rey Macahui b Medico Loco
2) Angel de la Muerte & Bazooka b Elektron & Mascara de Jade
3) Diabolico & Horoscopo b Kamikaza & Rey Fuego
4) Discovery, Principe Franky, Rayo Lazer DQ Angel de la Muerte, Dorado, Rey Azteca

I didn't even know THIS show was going on.

ELL MEX (SAT) 03/29 Chicago, IL [superluchas]
1) Kato Kung Lee Jr. & Zuleyma vs El Dorado & La Sirentia
2) Magno & Principe Franky vs Black Fish & Mano Negra
3) Lola Gonzalez vs Xochitl Hamada [EWWL WOMEN]

This is another tribute show for Chela Salazar, who's recovering from cancer. Locals will be added to the undercard.

Accion:

CMLL: Hector vs Perro. Hector got to kick out the double stomp before going down to Perro's actual finisher.

AAA: Hell Brothers killing Head Hunter I, Abismo Negro and Zorro. Zorro gets destroyed, we don't see any of Abismo's turn, and Head Hunter is the only rudo to get offense in, just enough to set up a missed moonsault and a Cibernetico chokeslam for the ring.

CMLL (SUN) 03/30 Arena Coliseo
1) Sensei & Sombra de Plata vs Carrona & Cholo
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Astro Boy, Neutrón vs Dr. X, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
4) Alex Koslov, La Máscara, La Sombra vs Misterioso II, Olímpico, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., LA Park vs Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V

Semimain looks good. Segunda would be fun if it airs. The rest of it...

Fox News picked up the Super Mojado gimmick. There's a match. Gringo Loco had a Mojado shirt (complete with a stick figure swimming) at the lucha last show I remembered to go to, so I think he wins this by a week.

and it's not like I was doing anything important. So disappointed.

Anyway, news update will be up late tonight, so late it might be Monday. Check out the Grey Shadow match from last week's FSE if you need some content

March 22, 2008

SuperLuchas has the info. I can't believe this happened at Rey de Reyes, and it took six days for anyone to find out.

Anyway, AAA is hurt again. Zorro's still mentioned as #1 contender, so perhaps we're headed for a repeat of this last major show cycle where Cibernetico doesn't interact with the guy he's headlining with until the very last minute.

With Zorro out, who's the top rudo left? Abismo's turning tecnico. It seemed like the plan was for Mesias to turn to tecnico and even if he doesn't, there not much point to him facing Cibernetico again. Konnan could be top rudo if he wants to work regularly but I don't think that's going to happen. He'll probably be a mouth piece for someone else. Kenzo? Electro? Niebla?

Edit: Superluchas quietly changed their headline. I like the Psycho Circus idea the best - they should at kill some time building up to the teased Hell Brothers/Circus match.

ESTO says Hector Garza already wants an injury, blaming the loss on the right wrist he hurt during the match. I didn't see ESTO's bios of Lutteroth and Black Shadow yesterday, so there's the link for them today. SuperLuchas has Perro cutting a promo after the match. Steve Sims says the show was a sellout.

AAA's injury cursed 2008 continues: Zorro will be out several weeks after tearing something in his right leg during the Rey de Reyes final. The article says he expects to be back in April (so maybe he'll only miss a couple weeks of TV?) and lists him as #1 contender to the AAA Title. AAA still hasn't updated their website since pre-Rey de Reyes.

Arturo Rivera outs Skandalo as Panico's son, and says he's been hearing from promoters frustrated with CMLL forcing Skandalo on them. Arturo also says Magadan is working in the CMLL offices, which breaks the rule of all the announcers being employed by Televisa and not the promotions.

CMLL (TUE) 03/25 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Puma Kid & Semental
2) Atomo, Fantasy, Pequeño Olímpico vs Fire, Mr. Aguilita, Pierrothito
3) Alex Koslov, Felino, Máximo vs Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Ephesto, Misterioso II [MEX TRIOS]
5) Marco Corelone vs Terrible

Each of the three not previous announced matches has something interesting going on. This is Villano III's first match back since last December's appearance on the IWRG's Santo card. The timings makes it seem as though he was just secretly suspended for three months. This is also Atomo's first match in a while. Puma Kid was a name TJ Perkins was using while here with the Havana Brothers. It woudln't make a great deal of sense for him to be back working openers, but, hey, Grey Shadow's around.

CMLL (FRI) 03/28 Arena Mexico
1) Mini Olimpicio & Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Luna Mágica vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Rosa Negra
3) La Máscara, Máximo, Valiente vs Ephesto, Sangre Azteca, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Shocker vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V
5) Dos Caras Jr., LA Park, Místico vs Atlantis, Olímpico, Último Guerrero

V5 and Panther keep feuding. Shocker may be back. Main event plays of the PPV semimain, where Mistico & LA Park get revenge against the guys who beat them up after the match. Neither guy from the main event works this week.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #120
03/16 Coliseo: Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Mictlán vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
03/16 Coliseo: Sagrado, Último Dragón, Valiente vs Lizmark Jr., Olímpico, Sangre Azteca

Not sure what that means for FSE, except they're obviously getting the Volador/UG program.

March 21, 2008

CMLL (FRI) 03/21 Arena Mexico
1) Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki vs Pequeño Damian 666, Fire, Pierrothito
3) Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Sagrado vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
4) Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs Mr. Águila, Terrible, Villano V
5) Atlantis, Místico, Último Guerrero vs Averno, LA Park, Mephisto [relevos incredible]
6) Héctor Garza vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo [hair]

NotiMex summaries how we got here. Ovaciones compares this to Angel Blanco vs Solitario. In ESTO, Perro Jr. says this match could be toughest of his career and Mistico is fine witht he match he got, even though it's not the match he was originally promised.

I'm not really torn about missing live coverage of this show. There's not much drama here

- Perro is going to beat Hector. There surely will be a fake finish of Hector nearly winning, but no one should expect him to win here.
- One, or both, of the semimain teams will fall apart before the finish. I'm betting on Mistico's team.
- none of the other matches matter.

Blue Panther vs Villano V will probably continue, though since neither guy has a title and neither guy seems close to losing their mask, I'm not sure where it can actually go to. I think this is Grey Shadow's last big chance to establish himself as a notable star. He can hang around in the middle forever, but he's not going to have a much better chance to change his rep before everyone makes up their minds. Minis and Women's match could set up title feuds, or could just be 7 minute sprints to leave more PPV time for other things.

CMLL's preview notes Mistico is no stranger to teaming with either Ultimo or Atlantis. There's not a lot of new ground on this show. I think it'll still do well, because the names in the main events are important enough to draw, but it's not very interesting from afar. Rey de Reyes ended up being just as predictable, but there was more going on.

Ovaciones has a brief article on Bestia Salvaje's passing. SuperLuchas looks back at his hair win over Huracan Sevilla in 1992, which seemed to be as much about the ref as the wrestlers.

CMLL (WED) 03/19 Auditorio Municipal de Tampico [KrisZ]
1) Darling Boy & Iron Boy DQ Apocalipsis (Tampico) & Mensajero de la Muerte
2) Baby Lover & King Boy b Alex Montana Jr. & Jymmy Torres
3) Dark Angel & Estrellita Magica b Anubiss & La Nazi
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Oro Negro b Sadico, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Negro Casas b Damián 666 & Héctor Garza

CMLL (SUN) 03/23 Arena Coliseo Gudalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Quazar
2) Ebola vs Danger (Guadalajara)
3) Casanova & Metatron vs Infierno & Super Maquina
4) Metal Blanco & Metalik vs Depredador (Guadalajara) & Vaquero
5) Ángel Azteca Jr., Gallo, Leon Blanco vs Malefico, Nitro, Toxico
6) Dos Caras Jr., La Sombra, Sagrado vs Atlantis, Euforia, Sangre Azteca

Vaquero remains out here for another week.

CMLL (TUE) 03/25 Arena Coliseo Gudalajara
1) Golden vs Azazel
2) Nube Roja vs Guero Loco
3) Metal Blanco vs Vaquero
4) Místico vs Blue Panther, La Máscara, El Gallo, Metailk, Lizmark Jr., Texano Jr., Mr. Águila, Sangre Azteca, Nitro, Mr. Trueno [ciber]

Nothing in particular seems to be on the line.

CMLL (FRI) 03/21 Arena Mexico [superluchas, el martinete]
1) Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori b Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
Sahori beat Sujei in the third fall.
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki b Pequeño Damian 666, Fire, Pierrothito
Mascarita pins Damian
3) Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca b Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Sagrado
4) Mr. Águila, Terrible, Villano V DQ Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.
Blue Panther lost the first fall by ref stop during a beatdown, then yanked Villano's mask for the second fall DQ.
5) Atlantis, Místico, Último Guerrero b Averno, LA Park, Mephisto [relevos incredible]
Both teams fall apart - Park abandons his partners prior to the loss, Atlantis and UG beat up Mistico and strip his mask after the match
6) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Héctor Garza [hair]
Hector suffers 'injury' in first fall (~2 min) loss, comes back to win second fall in under two minutes via usual moonsault. Perros all get involved as a distraction in the third fall, Humberto Garza Sr. counters them, but the referees watch that and not Perro fouling Hector.

Links to more recaps coming in the morning.

Original Post: I don't think there's working live audio, but I'm guessing someone will get the PPV and post it live. Maybe on El Martiente? Perhaps on superluchas? I don't know, I wrote this post on Thursday.

I should have results up by 1AM, if I can't get on wirelessly earlier.

Edit: I can't get in wirelessly, but while I'm sitting by a console and being underwhelmed, there's the opener.

March 20, 2008

Various websites are reporting Bestia Salvaje, real name Juan Manual Rodriguez, passed away this morning at 7:30 AM. The family has not released the cause of the death, though superluchas believes it was liver disease.

Bestia passed away in Guadalajara, where his career started. He ultimately found most of his success in CMLL, where he worked as a regular from the late 80s until April 2005. Bestia was a rising rudo with big hair wins in the early 90s before becoming changing to the veteran lose most of those matches. Bestia beating El Hijo del Santo was the main event of the 55th Anniversary Show and main evented the spring pre-cursors to the current Dos Leyenda shows, including a tag hair loss teaming with frequent partner Scorpio Jr. but falling to Negro Casas and El Hijo del Santo.

Bestia won the National Tag Team titles with Pierroth Jr., the CMLL Tag Titles with Scorpio Jr. and the CMLL Trios Titles with Sangre Chicana and Emilio Charles Jr. Bestia's last big runs were as part of the Guapos (with Shocker, Scorpio Jr. and Emilio Charles Jr. in different variations) and as part of the Tailban with Scorpio and Emilio. After that last group drifted apart, Bestia disappeared from CMLL, but still wrestled regularly for IWRG and Guadalajara. Bestia's had only wrestled a few times since last August. The last known match I have is one this past January at Arena Jalisco, Guadalajara.

Bestia Salvaje was 46.

I would expect there will be tributes to him tonight at the IWRG show, tomorrow at the CMLL show and probably on AAA TV (by Scorpio) if they haven't finished editing this week.

CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 03/18 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Pólvora & Zayco b Súper Camaleón & Súper Tri
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Loco Max b Mictlán, Neutrón, Tony Rivera
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus b Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Máscara Púrpura
4) Damián 666, Ephesto, Misterioso II b La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
5) Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone b Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V

If you like two fall matches, this show was for you. 2nd, 4th, and (maybe) 5th all were straight fall wins. Marco pinned Terrible to win the main event. Damain led his team to a straight fall victory over the trios champs. Both of these results set up matches already announced for next week.

CMLL (TUE) 03/25 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
4) Damián 666, Ephesto, Misterioso II vs La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. [MEX TRIOS]
5) Marco Corelone vs Terrible

I'm hoping for no title change, because those rudos will never team together. From Friday to Sunday to Tuesday, CMLL's running three straight singles main events (at least.)

CMLL (TUE) 03/18 Arena Xalapa [luis_bunbury @ box y lucha]
1) Gabriel o Gabriela, Jaguar, Samuary, Tigre Cosmico b Crazy Man, GMC, Perro Mocho Jr., Perro Mocho Sr.
2) Amapola, Hiroka, Medussa, Mima Shimoda, Rosa Negra b Dark Angel, Goddess, Luna Mágica, Marcela, Sahori
3) Astro Boy, Brazo de Platino, Super Brazo b Escandalo, Hooligan, Nitro
4) Máscara Año 2000, Toscano, Universo 2000 b Blue Panther, Felino, Grey Shadow
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Místico b Atlantis, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Toscano returned to replace Lizmark Jr. I assume it's one time thing. I don't know why they had a ten woman match, but it sounds amusing.

Ovaciones runs it's annual bio of Salvador Lutteroth Gonzalez. Tommorow is 111th years since his birth.

(Jazzo/Reforma) Volador wants a mask match with Ultimo. Probably not a good idea for him.

Marco Corelone chats on esmas on Monday.

NotiMex has a bio of Mil Mascaras.

Box Y Lucha #2862 previews tomorrow's card. I should do that!

March 19, 2008

box

FSE-US: the title for this show is "Blue Panther vs Lizmark Jr.", but of course Lizmark Jr. hasn't been wrestling lately. I dunno what that means, so I just went with the usual. The Amapola vs Dark Angel is already listed for NEXT week, so this taping has to be these matches anyway.

AAA US: Captains Advance To Rey De Reyes. Legion vs HBs/Intocable in the main event.

CAN52: Minis match is too good not to air. More Volador/Ultimo build in the main event.

-----------

CMLL (Mex PPV): the full Friday night show.

CMLL (Mex TV): who knows. Repeat material, likely.

AAA MEX: Last stop before Rey de Reyes. Two more get in, and the full HBs are back together to take on Abismo, Head Hunter and Zorro.

FSE MEX: Virus & Infernales in one match, Sagrado and Valiente in another. Not quite right.

CadenaTres: the usual.

Zorro and his huge Rey de Reyes sword

(Vanguarida) An employee of AAA, Daniel Chavez Benitez, passed away Monday when a tire on the van he was driving exloded, the car started to roll, and things got worse from there. Eight other people were injuried in the accident. Benitez and many of the others were selling merchandise at Rey de Reyes.

CMLL (SUN) 03/16 Arena Coliseo
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Kid Tiger & Molotov
2) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito b Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
3) Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Mictlán b Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Sagrado, Último Dragón, Valiente b Mascara Ano 2000, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Volador Jr. DQ Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Tecs won first fall clean. Second fall came down to Volador and Ultimo and Ultimo faked a foul. Volador knew he was screwed, so he brilliantly took off his own mask and threw it at Ultimo before the referee turned around. Rafa el Maya saw Ultimo selling a foul, saw Volador with his mask off, and had no idea what to call, so he asked the fans! Fans told him Ultimo yanked Volador's mask, and that was the decision. This sets up the singles match next week, guaranteed not to have a clean finish.

One bad dive by Purpura took out both him and Nosferatu in the third match. Both were helped to the back before the end of the match.

Marco Rivera, who's been pretty accurate about these things, says TripleMania will be 06/13 in Palacio de los Deportes, Mexico City. Besides the link over on the right side there, KatoKungFu posted photos from Rey de Reyes at el Martiente. Chavo Guerrero looks a bit rough.

In Reforma (via Jazzo), Fabian el Gitano apologizes for being a bad wrestler. No, really! He says he's rededicated himself to improving, dropping his other job as a stripper to spend more time training. It sounds like he was asked to do this if he wanted to keep getting booked. I hope it works and he didn't drop the wrong job.

(superluchas) Televisa's always strange Wrestler of the Year ballot has Perro Aguayo Jr. (fair enough), Rey Misterio Jr. (strange - not even the year you'd pick if you were picking based on people outside of Mexico) and Abismo Negro (inexplicable given how much time he's missed.)

Ovaciones has no results from last night's action, but they do have an extended interview with Crazy Boy. Crazy lays out his vision for DTU again (trying to give spotlight to lesser known talent and different styles, not trying to compete with CMLL or AAA or IWRG or AULL.) He mentions the previously announced 04/04 DTU show, and also throws out the planned carded for their 05/04 show at the Lucha Libre Expo:

DTU (SUN) 05/04 Centro Banamex
1) Dark Zinder & Hoit vs Dance Boy & Money Pack and Black Fire & Ragde

Site notes: This week's AAA recap and the CAN52 recap are done and will be turning up the next two evenings. FSE lost a fall due to the game going long, so I'm just going to wait for the reair and take care of it next week.

News will be abbreviated on Friday and I do not figure on being around for PBP of the PPV. I'll probably due the same open thread as the Rey de Reyes and catch up when I get a chance. I'll chime over my iTouch if I end up some place with wireless.

Come to think of it, I'm amazed Purpura didn't take a shooting star press bump off the Doomsday Device. It was for a 9 minute match.

MUZAK WE WILL ROCK YOU! Never been so happy to hear a cover. A good match too, though I still want to see Negro/Sangre more than Ultimo/Volador if Ultimo's going to look at the fans every 4 seconds.

March 19, 2008

taped 02/15, aired 03/15

I really loved this match. In a promotion where rudo refereeing is done and overdone and then done some more, it does still work when you're not expecting it and they're subtlety building it thru the match. It even makes sense if you remember back to their (unresolved) issues last year - just because Abismo might be becoming a good guy doesn't mean Hijo de Tirantes has to like him. Niebla was also as good as I've seen him here.

There's been better matches, I don't know if it would hold up to rewatching or redoing, and the post-match angle doesn't make any sense as a story. On the other side, AAA seems to have toned down rudo referee bits - Piero's been calling it more fair of late, Copetes hasn't been around a lot, and Tirantes Sr. hasn't been around at all - so this was helped by similar stuff not happening.

I'm totally expecting Hijo de Tirantes to be a back tecnico referee next time he's referring a match without Abismo Negro, because I hope I would know if Hijo de Tirantes has been a rudo for a month. It was good to get to boo him for purposely being a rudo, instead of all the attention grabbing tecnico referee things I'm not supposed to make a deal about.

Meanwhile, the cage match, and the lack of idea of what was going on, was so AAA. I wonder how many people thought they won that match. "I know it's tough for you, Halloween, having to get beat up post match, but you get to win the match!"

EDGAR ALEJANDRE @ box y lucha foro says Bestia Salvaje is having some severe health problems, to the point of the doctors telling the family to prepare for the worst.

CMLL (SAT) 03/15 Arena Solidaridad [RFC]
1) Andoride & Apolo Estrada Jr. b Hijo del Trueno & Sky
2) Azteca Warrior, Dark War, Furor b Dranser, Gemelo Muerte I, Scravos
3) Dralion, Mictlán, Sagrado b Caifan 69, Nosferatu, Satánico
4) Sangre Azteca b La Máscara [MEX WELTER]
5) LA Park b Dr. Wagner Jr., Nicho el Millionario

Volador vs Ultimo is on for Sunday in Coliseo.

Arturo Rivera says the CMLL Tag Team title change may be overturned. CMLL forgot to let the commission know there was going to be a title match, so there was no commission to authorize it as a title match at the show. I don't think anything will come of this. Rivera also talks about Brazo de Oro some more.

ESTO's recap of the Rey de Reyes says the Clowns are at 91 wins.

El Gris @ El Martiente posted photos of an AAA show from this past Saturday.

Rey Misterio Sr. says they're planning a rematch of WrestleManiac.

CMLL (WED) 04/09 Plaza de Toros Monumental El Paseo [ddevil_mex @ Satanico's Mansion]
1) Máximo vs Máscara Púrpura, Rayo de Plata Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Black Bull [cage, hair, mask]
2) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible
3) Blue Panther, Místico, Negro Casas vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Oddly, El Sol de San Luis Potosi's near daily article about this show hasn't mentioned the cage match. Rayo de Plata Jr. and Black Bull are locals who have been feuding, and Rayo de Plata Jr. appears to be the son of the promoter, so...

I've been waiting for Coliseo DF results to turn up. I'm sure they will about five seconds after I post this.

Anyone watch a lot of Puerto Rician wrestling? There's a theory that Killer Clown, the tallest one of Psycho Circus, might have been someone who would've been brought over by Moody Jack Melendez, but I don't know who'd fit.

indy (FRI) 03/14 Auditorio de Tijuana [d3v1lb0y @ box y lucha]
4) Angel Blanco Jr., El Hijo del Solitario, Hijo de Rey Misterio DDQ Arandu, Inferno, TJ Boy
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Último Dragón b LA Park & Toscano

Recall how Wagner's crowd brawling was a problem in Laguna? Wagner and Park went brawling in the crowd here during the second fall, and the commission ordered the show shut down! Lights and sounds were turned off, referee left, and crowd was not happy. Fifteen minutes later, Wagner and Park came back to the ring and did a foul finish to end it and send people home. This is starting to become a trend.

The semimain was thrown out for too much extreme wrestling too, so someone decided to lay the law down.

Pierroth told Periodico Record (via wagnerdesdel92) he wil lretired on 08/15 (Friday) at Arena Mexico in a relevos increibles match: Pierroth & LA Park vs Atlantis & Satanico. It's a long time between now and August. Pierroth explains this is pushed back from July because "there was a significant event in CMLL."

Olimpico & Justiciero were scheduled for a singles match this Sunday in Coliseo Coalaco; dime_vakerochris @ box y lucha says it's now a mask vs hair match.

An article in Hoy Tamaulipas accused AAA of using a fake Mesias on the show Saturday. The fake Mesias was "obese, and slow in the ring."

Milenio-DF writes about a new lucha libre book, "Y detrás de las máscara...El pueblo" by German researcher Janina Möbius (who's name is mispelled). It's an examination of the links between lucha libre and Mexican society, and I think it came out a couple years ago. There's an old thread on DVDVR about it, but can't find a link for the book (and would presume its in German.)

Jvän_ßrvj() @ box y lucha posted an interesting factoid about the origin of the original Grey Shadow. It's a right place, right time thing.

Televisa & Telemundo have reached a content sharing deal, but it's going from the US to Mexico, not the other way (which we'd in the US would hope for lucha.) Telemundo will produce telenovelas in Mexico, Televisa will add a network to their servce to air them, and Telemundo will also air them in the US. (thanks to mikeinformer)

These are main events for an annual Strawberry Fair. I don't put much stock into two months out lineups, but why not. Fairs are picking up as weather warms up; lucha libre is on the schedule in Mexico City's fair, starting on the 03/30.

Black Terry Jr. posted photos of the AULL show and from one of the ANL daily fair show in the box y lucha forum.

Lourdes Groubet's lucha libre photos are now in the Queretaro City Musuem.

I'm not sure why google is just picking it up now, but Pagina 12 Argentina writes about the 2006 revival of Gladiadores del Ring in Uruguay.

Quick GALLI results, assuming I can remember them all right

GALLI (SUN) 03/16 Ramada Inn, Glendale Heights, IL
1) El Chilango & Venganza b Meteoro I & Meteoro II
2) El Tiger & Sileuta Dorada DQ Demencia, El Guerrillero, Pentgaon del Infierno
3) Negrotistico b Joey Marx
4) Isias Velazques & Steve Boz b Blade & Samuary
5) Charly Manson Jr. b Yakuza [GALLI CHAMP, IWC CHAMP]
6) Hijo de Rey Misterio, Rey Misterio Sr., Slayer b Amenaza del Siglo, Coco Liso, Gringo Loco

Hijo de Rey Misterio was OK. It's tough to judge highflying skills due to the low ceiling, but he was perfectly fine in the ring. Didn't shine, didn't look bad. There was a long segment of Amanaza de Siglo laying on him and biting the mask, but the mask never got ripped and Hijo never bleed, so I'm not sure what was going on. Hijo got a 'rana on Gringo for the pin while everyone else was in the Star.

After the match, they did quicky psuedo-mask match with Senior (wearing his mask) and Amenza de Siglo.

Golden Star (tecnico) and Gringo Loco (rudo) were cornerman for the title unification match. Match was going okay until Charly tried to do a springboard dive. Not sure if he was worried about hitting his head on the ceiling or just plain slipped, but his plancha was way off and he crashed and burned on the floor. Charly was holding his (I think) left elbow for most of the rest of the match, for how long it lasted. Rudo referee La Vaca held Charly for a Yakuza foul, and of course ended up taking it himself. Everyone, seconds including, fouled everyone else, Charly getting the last shot in, and covering just as tecnico referee Apenitas came into make the count.

Post match, there was an argument about which referee was legal, and who cheated whom, and matches were set up for an 04/05? show in Addison:

- Gringo Loco vs Charly Manson Jr. (c) for both titles, assuming Charly's okay to go (early report had him out two weeks)
- Yakuza vs Golden Star, mask vs mask

There's still no actual GALLI belt, so it's good Charly got something to actually put around his waist.

Negrotistico is now 4-0 versus Joey Marx. Time for Joey to get a win or for them to get into the general mix.

No one's quite sure why the second match was a handicap match. As best I can figure, Guerrillero wasn't scheduled, was just here to work the rudos corner, but interfered freely. Rudos got the win, promoter overturned for Guerrillero's interfernce, rudos went after the promoter.

Meteoro I might have not been Meteoro I

Accion

CMLL clips were off the main event. Rudos control on the brawl, then it's all Hector dominating from there. We don't see the finish, or any of Corelone. AAA's clips were of the triangle tag match. I can't believe Chessman tried to superplex Konnan thru a table. That's never going to happen. I can believe we see Chessman go thru a table, then see him do an Asai Moonsault fine. Same thing happens with Charly - he takes a powerbomb thru chairs, then wins the match via inside cradle in the next clip.

SuperLuchas #255 has Amapola/Dark Angel and Hector/Perro.

IWRG (SUN) 03/09 Arena Naucalpan [Super Luchas #255]
1) Bacteria & Halcon 2000 b Ancla & Comando Gama
2) Chico Che & Venom b Judas el Traidor & Nemesis IWRG
3) Cerebro Negro, Fantasma de la Ópera, Galactik b Payaso Carrona, Payaso Miedo, Payaso Terror
4) Filoso IWRG, Freelance, Multifacético DQ Capitán Muerte, Cyborg, Xibalba
5) Black Dragon, El Fantasma, Groon XXX b Cien Caras Jr., Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

Tarzan missed the main event. Black Terry ran during the third fall of the semimain, annoying the rudos and possibly setting up a Multifacetico/Black Terry/Cyborg match. These Payasos here are the ones from AAA last year - same costumes, probably same guys under the masks. They've been working indy shows.

Box Y Luchas has articles about previously covered subjects:
- Perros del Mal opening a store, and an office, in Arena Mexico
- Toscano on his suspension
- Dr. Wagner Jr. on being left off the Dos Leyends card

Arturo Rivera writes about vacations he has had.

9) Cibernetico b Mesias [AAA HEAVY]

Projected Air Date (#829, #830)
Mexico: 03/16, 03/23
US: 04/19, 04/26

Cibernetico is the second champion. Sect lit a table to put him thru again, but HBs made the save, and Chessman put Ozz thru it.

Niebla and Abismo eliminated each other from the tournament final. Legion tried to get involved, but were balanced out by a bunch of tecnicos. Zorro appears to have won on his own.

Sabu replaced Ron Killings on the Legion team. Chavo Guerrero, here for Eddie's induction into the AAA HOF, was the mystery tecnico partner. Scott Steiner beat Charly Manson.

Another in the unending Konnan/Roldan segments introduced La Parka Jr., who will be returning soon, again.

order of elimination
A: El Elegido (by Zumbido), Divina (by Niebla), Zumbido (by Niebla)
B: Decnnis (by Head Hunter), Head Hunter (by Pirata), Pirata (by Alan)
C: Aero Star (by Psicosis II), Psicosis II (by Porky), Porky (by Abismo)
D: Scorpio (by Billy), Billy (by Zorro), Aero (by Zorro)

Chessman took a bad bump in this match. Shocking. He'd reappear in the main event, so he did not die. Extreme Tiger got the money.

Original post: I'm at the galli show right now, and will put up results late tonight if they turn up. If you find them first, feel free to use this thread.

Upcoming Announced Shows
04/05: Torreon

March 15, 2008

CMLL (FRI) 03/14 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, ESTO, superluchas]
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Metálico b Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. DQ Loco Max, Nitro, Skandalo
3) Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela
4) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas DQ Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Villano V
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico b Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Tecnicos won the first fall of the main event when Mistico's mask got pulled. He went to the back, got a new mask, and came back to start the comeback. Marco and Mistico got in dives, and Hector kicked Perro in taped ribs (?) and moonsaulted for the win.

Villano V yanked Blue Panther's mask for a DQ in that match. This seems to be a feud. ESTO says Goddess improved, but "still is not convincing." No one quite specifies what the DQ is in the segunda, but it was a straight falls match.

CMLL (TUE) 03/18 Arena Mexico
1) Súper Camaleón & Súper Tri vs Pólvora & Zayco
2) Mictlán, Neutrón, Tony Rivera vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Loco Max

4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Ephesto, Misterioso II
5) Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V

Trios champs teaming up. Odd competition though.

CMLL (FRI) 03/21 Arena Mexico

5) Atlantis, Místico, Último Guerrero vs Averno, LA Park, Mephisto [relevos incredible]
6) Héctor Garza vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo [hair]

I forgot that everything on the US feed of CAN52 is now an hour later due to Daylight Savings Time, until things sync up again. Hope that didn't mess anyone up.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #119 has
03/07 Mexico: Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. b Arkangel de la Muerte, Skandalo, Virus

If we're going to get four weeks of women's matches, I guess they're starting low and building. Main event was fun, if not that long.

I eventually uploaded the right video:

taped 02/29, 03/02, aired 03/08

Loco Max's hair is long. Should we start a pool about who he's losing his hair to, and which Sunday it's happening? The opener was the longest match in a while. Ultimo vs Corelone was exactly what I wanted it to be.

Same venue as the GALLI show two weekends ago, 780 North Ave, Glendale Heights, Il, 60139. Doors open at 5, show starts at 6. Tickets are $10 for General Admission for kids, $20 adults for General Admission, and $25 for ring side.

3) Discovery & Slayer vs Demencia & Guerrilero
4) Gringo Loco, La Nazi, Yakuza vs Blade, Charly Manson Jr., Medussa
5) Arkangel de la Muerte & Violencia vs Pantera & Ultraman

It looks like GALLI's co-promoting this with someone, but I can't decipher their logo/acronym.

"Cicero Stadium" is definitely the setup to jokes I'm afraid to make. It's located at 1909 S. Laramie Cicero, IL, 60804. Star ttime is listed at 7pm, tickets are $15 general, $25 for VIP.

Not sure which Ultraman that may be. Of all the women from CMLL, those two seem the most improbable. THIS is a show I'd go to Cicero for.

I'm going to Sunday's show, and may make one of the Cicero's show.

CMLL

CMLL (FRI) 03/14 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Metálico vs Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. vs Loco Max, Nitro, Skandalo
3) Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei
4) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Villano V
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Ovaciones notes this is a main event to build to next week's show and nothing else. Notimex says the same thing. I think many will end up agreeing and this one's going to struggle to draw. In ESTO, Hector is surprised he's teaming so well with Mistico.

(Reforma via Jazzo) Marco talks about the disbanding of the High Society. With Rey a rudo and Shocker MIA, it's officially gone, and Marco thinks it never worked because the two foreigners worked together and Rey & Shocker teamed up some, but they didn't come together as a unit. I'm still championing a new High Society of Marco, Alex and Valiente.

Meanwhile, Ultimo Guerrero is not happy with the former Pandilla using "Guerreros del Desierto or Guerrero Tuareg" as a name. Neither am I, since I could swear they were calling themselves Rebeldes Tuareg and everyone forgot. Ultimo is looking for more support from CMLL: he wants to talk to people in charge about getting Toscano back in the fold, giving Olimpico & Sangre something to do, and finding out why he and Atlantis aren't getting their rematch. UG figures CMLL will be holding a decision match for the CMLL Trios titles soon too, and wants the Guerreros in on that.

ESTO's article on the Lucha Libre Expo mentions NWA Mexico as one of the participating promotions. So at some point, they will be promoting something. The "Expo" wrestler is a 10 year IWRG veteran getting (yet another) new gimmick. The expo has a website @ http://www.remexexpos.com/lucha/.

Ovaciones says Hijo del Santo was honored by the Huixquilucan, Mexico State govenrment for 25 years of lucha libre.

Jack Evans was on Figure Four Daily earlier this week, and talked a bit about AAA
- He starts on April 5 ("thru something"), and he believes he's wrestling in Mexico City
- Jack being announced and replaced on Verano de Escandalo was his fault; he got bookings for ROH and AAA on the same day, and neglected to tell either side. AAA and ROH talked it out themselves and there's no problem there.
- he's super excited to wrestle in Mexico, because he thinks he might learn the style Skayde and Pentagon Black use. From AAA.

Slightly odd teams, but okay.

Argentina's Pagina 12 writes about the life of Italian Jose Ricardo Gattone, who wrestled in Argentina as Gran Gattoni and then traveled to the US to wrestle in the AWA as Baron Gattoni. A book was recently released about him in Argentina.

indy (SUN) 03/16 Bandolero Discoteque, El Paso, TX [albert cerda]
1) Huracan Ramirez Jr., Serpiente Blanca, Serpiente Blanca Jr. vs Los Payasos Triple AAA & Rocky Star
2) Hijo del Marquez vs Cinta de Oro
3) Octagoncito, Punisher, Yury Star vs Black Fish, La Sirenita, Pierrothito

CMLL (SUN) 03/16 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar vs Azazel
2) Golden vs Milenio
3) Idolo & Oro II vs Fraile de la Muerte & Guero Loco
4) Metal Blanco, Metatron, Virgo vs Depredador, Exterminador, Vaquero
5) Flash, Metalik, Stuka Jr. vs Infierno, Satánico, Shigeo Okumura
6) Blue Panther & LA Park vs Terrible & Texano Jr.

This is Vaquero's debut in GDL, I think. I wonder if there's something coming up with him, because it's unusual for him to wrestle outside of DF.

CMLL (MON) 03/17 Arena Puebla
1) Toro Bill & Toro Bill Jr. vs Mr. Rafaga & Zigma
2) Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, Cocolores vs Espiritu Maligno, Furia Chicana, Policeman

taped 02/10, aired in the US 03/08

Abismo vs Niebla was sketchy in parts. Actually, the whole show was sketchy in parts because they had 4 hours of show cut down to 3 hours and didn't do the cleanest of job editing things. But the singles match felt less like building to a big finish and more like typical AAA getting in the spots they wanted to do.

Zorro is much better as a rudo. It's funny that he didn't seem to have a personality till they put a mask on him, and now is a lot more entertaining playing the complete opposite of what he's been for year. My newest hindsight booking for the last three months of 2007 is Kenzo should've been in Zorro's role, in the title match, and Zorro should've been protected the whole time. He's much funnier now, but there's no way I believe he's going to win when it matters.

Billy Boy is a dope. A DOPE.

taped 02/01, aired in the US 03/01

I was let down a little by the NOAH match. I really wanted to see more of Chessman vs Morishima and they even teased that, then didn't do much with it besides the clotheslines bits. The match was okay, maybe good, but it could've used less Kenzo and a non dumb finish. Why do they always wait till the last minute to do the turn they've planned all along?

in completely random compliments: Jesse has some promise. He's a few years away from meaning anything but this is a perfect role for him to get some experience.

triplea.com.mx

Hey, remember how all 4 major AAA shows were supposed to be on PPV in the US this year? Not quite happening with this one. I don't know that there's a match here great enough to make want to pay for this show, but I am interested on how the tournament works out.

1) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown vs Cuervo, Ozz, Scoria

SQUASH. They're going to be one taping short of 100, so maybe they face the Hell Brothers on the next show? Or maybe the clowns can make a friend and go for the Atomicos titles.

2) Chessman vs Teddy Hart, Halloween, Extreme Tiger, Juventud Guerrera, Joe Lider [ladder]

They'll be hanging 250,000 Mexican Pesos ($23,000 US) in a bag and the winner has to climb and get it. Hopefully Chessman is okay with winning this time. Figure on Chessman and Halloween taking each other out. If this is supposed to lead anywhere, it'd make most sense to set up a tag team challenge, and not one with a guy who's only in for major shows. I guess Exteme Tiger takes this to restart the tag feud.

3) El Elegido vs Mr. Niebla, Mascara Divina, Zumbido [Rey de Reyes, sf]

Divina is happy to be here. Elegido and Zumbido wouldn't be bad choices if they were doing anything more than group filler. It's gotta be Niebla.

4) Alan Stone vs Decnnis, Head Hunter I, Pirata Morgan [Rey de Reyes, sf]

I was amused by superluchas giving Head Hunter 1 a 1 in 10 shot. That may be high. I still think it would've been more fun to sneak a Jr. Pirata here, but as long as Pirata Morgan is here he has a shot to sneak in the final. I think they should and will put Alan feud, but there's no real storyline reason he needs to be there more than Pirata or Decnnis.

5) Abismo Negro vs Super Porky vs Psicosis II vs Aerostar [Rey de Reyes, sf]

I wonder if someone realized they had three tecnicos and Abismo on his way to being one, and Abismo was swapped out. Or maybe ESTO's tables were just hard to read and I goofed up.

Abismo gets to goof around against Super Porky one last time before becoming a tecnico (and goofing around WITH Super Porky.) He's the only one with Rey de Reyes experience, due to smaller fields with lots of outside talent and plenty of turnover since they last ran this format in 2002.

6) Zorro vs Scorpio Jr., Billy Boy, Super Fly [Rey de Reyes, sf]

Zorro would look quite dumb if he didn't at least make the finals. This seems like the best match of the four.

7) ?, Alebrije, Charly Manson, Laredo Kid vs Electroshock, Kenzo Suzuki, Ron Killings, Scott Steiner

Just like with the last taping, I think La Parka Jr. was expected to be back by now and his continued injury problems caused the mystery spot, instead of AAA planning this all along. It's possible Parka wrestles here anyway, though it'd be dumb. There's no strong rumors of a jump this time around, which is okay since they rarely seem to happen. It could be Octagon, who was in Alebrije's spot but now is MIA, but I think they'd just announce him. Gronda would be the most likely in-house candidate, but I'm betting on an indy name coming in for one night.

Laredo Kid should get his injury revenge on Ron Killings here, but I'm not too certain about it. Charly/Electro stuff should be interesting.

8) Group A winner vs Group B winner, Group C winner, Group D winner [Rey de Reyes, final]

AAA should be setting up it's next major title challenger here. Won't be Alan, won't be Niebla. It's definitely possible Abismo does the swerve rudo turn, but the easiest path is Zorro winning. They've given him enough wins in the leadup stretch to make believe AAA may actually do it this time.

9) Cibernetico vs Mesias [AAA HEAVY]

If Cibernetico were to get a full measure of revenge, he'd not only win the title, but he'd light Mesias on fire (again) and Mesias would be gone for a while, but can he actually leave just after returning? I think Mesias' is definitely toast here.

TV: All the non-Rey de Reyes matches for the first week, and then all the Rey de Reyes plus a repeat of the title match for the second week.

5) Axxel, Ogun, Piloto Fantasma b Black Demon, Getfhar, Mr. America
6) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Groon XXX b Canek Jr. & Pierroth II

Arturo Rivera complains about not getting his phone calls returned and talks about Rey de Reyes. I think I'll do that later.

Lots of articles on Box Y Lucha
- Mesias explains he was doing AAA a favor by going to the States and Puerto Rico to add international prestige to the AAA Mega Championship. What a nice guy. Just don't look at his record. Mesias once again says this is the final time he fights Cibernetico
- Mistico talks about wanting to go all out in 2008 to make up for his injury filled 2007. He also mentions his Rey de Aires group plans, but says there's conflict in turning into an actual group.
- Pierroth explains his injury - a burst appendix. Despite his wife, his daughters and his brothers not wanting him to return, Pierroth is planning for one last run leading up to a farewell match on August 15 in Arena Mexico.
- The newest Mascarita Sagrada AAA says he was way too nervous in his debut match on the Antontio Pena tribute, so they had him train for six more months before he came back. No hints as to who it is.
- Axxel says the same things about joining CMLL that he said elsewhere. As do Hector & Perro.
- Columnists write about ex-wrestler Carlos Hernandez and an outdoor indy show

box. Didn't bother with the IWRG this week. Why predict what airs when no one can see it?

AAA US: Rey de Reyes qualifying starts with a cage match, and Abismo vs Mr. Niebla comes to an end (for now.)

CAN52: Call me crazy, but I think the minis match from Sunday will end up airing, with all the Arena Mexico matches saved for Televisa. If the minis doesn't air, expect repeats between the main show an the MVS shows sometime in the next couple weeks.

FSE: women's feud continues, but the news here is Grey Shadow's debut on US TV. Repeats on Friday, and next Sunday's episode looks to be in the afternoon.

-----------

CMLL MEX: to follow that theory, they've got to leave something for next week's main event, so I'm guessing the semimain get skipped here.

AAA MEX: listed a 3 hours this week. Lights out match for Rey de Reyes spots and another triangle tag match in the main event.

FSE MEX: Women's title match and Perros vs tecnicos

CadenaTres: Perros vs tecncios and minis in the opener.

CMLL (TUE) 03/11 Arena Mexico [cmll]
1) Sensei & Trueno b Carrona & Cholo
2) Celestial, Electrico, Shockercito b Fire, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666
3) Fabián el Gitano, Felino, Máximo b Dr. X, Mentallo, Shigeo Okumura
4) Alex Koslov, Sagrado, Volador Jr. b Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
5) Héctor Garza, La Sombra, Marco Corelone DQ Damián 666, Terrible, Texano Jr.

In the end, Hector and Sombra synchronized their dives on Damian and Texano, and Terrible fouled Marco to avoid the direct loss. This seems to happen more than most to Corelone.

Everyone covered a press conference for the 2nd Annual Lucha Libre Expo yesterday. It's taking place in the same building as last year, from May 2nd to the 4th. CMLL, IWRG, AULL and others will be participating, though no AAA again this year. They're hoping to draw between 25,000 and 30,000 people. A wire story, talking about the history and 'growing popularity' of lucha libre (though even they note no actual stats were given) lists Super Muneco, Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, Septiembre Negro, Mascara Ano 2000, Marco Corelone, Volador Jr., Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero among those tentatively scheduled to appear. They're also debuting an official wrestler of the show named "Expo". Crazy Boy, who's DTU will be participating, talked about the chance to show his group as more than people who just break chairs and light bulbs over each other. Tickets are 150 pesos/$14 for a day, 300 pesos/US$28 for all three.

(El Siglo de Torreon) Wagner promotions and referee Chabelo will meet the local box y lucha commission Thursday to discuss possible fines and suspensions. The article suggests it could be as serious as Wagner losing the rights to run shows in some buildings and Chabelo losing his referee license.

Next round of the tournament is on April 15.

Juvi is part of an ex-WWE tour of Europe in June.

(Reforma via Jazzo) Lizmark Jr. explains he missed recent shows due to lower back pain (and left leg issues). It'll be a week more before he even knows how long it'll be before he comes back. Marcela wants a hair match with Amapola.

4) Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico vs Kenzo Suzuki, Mesias, Zorro

CMLL (WED) 03/19 Arena Coliseo Acapulco [chespiro_rko @ Satanico's Mansion]
1) La Sombra, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Misterioso II, Skandalo
2) Sangre Azteca vs Valiente [MEX WELTER]
3) LA Park & Místico vs Rey Bucanero & Último Guerrero

An actual Acapulco lineup! That title match is another one that needs to turn up on TV at some point.

March 11, 2008

I posted Marco vs Ultimo over the weekend. I think I'll grab the Valiente match from FSE; there's going to be plenty of women's matches the next few weeks.

AAA (MON) 03/10 Arena Cuarto Caminos [RFC]
1) Black Mamba & Penumbra b Ahijdao de Oro & Black Fenix
2) Estrellita & Fabi Apache b Mari Apache & Rossy Moreno
3) El Brazo, Iron, Street Boy b Lord Byron, Rio Bravo, Tito Santana II
4) Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz b Insolito, Principe Diamante, Sangre Chicana
5) El Elegido, Hombre sin Miedo, La Parka Jr. b Antifaz del Norte, Electro Shock, Zorro

Somehow, Parka wrestled here but Laredo Kid missed the show.

CMLL.com says they'll be bringing back legends on Fridays and Sundays to lead up to the 75th Anniversary. (Oh no, Rayo.)

Actual headline: Dr. Wagner is sad. :( He's sad not to be on Dos Leyendas, and he's got no real idea why CMLL pulled him. Wagner does mention he's still on good terms with CMLL.

(WrestlingObserver via 411Mania) Mistico contacted TNA about getting booked there, in between his CMLL bookings. I wonder if Mistico actually can do this, if CMLL will actually let him do this when it comes time to happen. This is clearly not worth investing much thought until he actually appears in the ring, because we've been here before.

WAGNER (SAT) 03/08 Plaza de Toros Torreon [el siglo de torreon]
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Héctor Garza b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, LA Park

The four way turned into a tag match, I dunno. The article is less about the match and the show, and more a take down piece on the referee, Chabelo, for letting these guys brawl all around the arena and not exerted any authority on them. In his defense, Wagner and Park (and probably the other two) have done the same brawls everywhere from Arena Mexico to Chicago and no referee has managed to contain them. The article says the local commission may end up sanctioning the referee.

(Reforma via Jazzo) Amapola plans on beating Marcela to become a double champion, taking Dark Angel's hair and then going back to Monterrey to take Diana's hair again. Well, why not. Amapola also says she's on another level, which seems familiar. Meanwhile, Maximo wants to take Sangre Azteca's mask and Averno's CMLL Middlweight Title. I don't like his odds as much.

Noticas Oaxaca has long bios of Anima I and Anima II.

Ultimo Gladiador told TerceraCaida he'd like to retire from lucha extreme matches. Probably should've joined a different faction.

CMLL (MON) 03/10 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano, Super Star, SWAT b Espiritu Maligno, Furia Chicana, Karisma
2) Batman, the Tiger, Tigre Rojo b Flecha, Negro Navarro, Policeman
3) Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Virus b Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr.
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, Grey Shadow, Negro Casas
5) Héctor Garza & Místico b Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

Mistico got Averno in the third fall. Referee Rodolfo Ruiz, suspiciously seemingly always scheduled to work his son's big matches, got distracted checking on him and missed Mephisto fouling Mistico. While Ruiz was still looking the wrong way, Hector fouled Mephsito in revenge, and moonsaulted him to win the titles.

Averno & Mephisto were champions for only 40 days. This is Mistico's 3rd title reign, and he's now back to being a four belt champion. Hector Garza has never won the tag team titles before, and is actually a three belt champion (CMLL Trios, WWA Tag - both up in the air due to his turn.)

Now we know what the tag title match got pulled from the PPV. Also, Chui's point about life getting worse once you join the Perros gets proved again.

2) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Gladiador
4) Billy Boy & Super Fly b Antifaz del Norte & Histeria and Chris Stone & Super Calo [Rey de Reyes, qualifying]
4) Aero Star, Intocable, Octagón b Decnnis, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido
5) Extreme Tiger, Halloween, TJ Xtreme b Kenzo Suzuki, Konnan, Mr. Niebla
6) Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico b Abismo Negro, Head Hunter I, Zorro

Projected Air Date (#828)
Mexico: 03/24/08
US: 04/12/08

With Abismo turning tecnico, the main event was not going to work. No idea where Ron Killings is (perhaps he's done here early?), but Zorro is back to being the Hell Brothers punching bag. Legion and Vipers did manage to lay Abismo out after the match, and he took a strecher ride leading into Rey de Reyes.

Familia de Tijauna got a somewhat inexplicable win, Halloween beating Konnan (replacing X-Pac, while Niebla took Zorro's spot.) I presume this is make up for all the losses they suffered lately.

Aerostar took the empty spot on the tecnico side and got a win. Yay for him. Billy Boy and Super Fly won, as figured. Clowns are at 92 wins, just in time to get 100 at Rey de Reyes, provided they eventually get opponents. Have they announced the lineup on TV yet, because it occurs to me it isn't on the website. The opener also occurred.

Not only do we have 16 of 16 Rey de Reyes participants, but ESTO also posted the first round matchups. Let's see if I can read them correctly

Group 1: Elegido, Mr. Niebla, Mascara Divina, Zumbido
Group 2: Alan Stone, Decnnis, Head Hunter, Pirata Morgan
Group 3: Abismo Negro, Super Porky, Psicosis, Aerostar
Group 4: Zorro, Scorpio Jr., Billy Boy, Super Fly

Hmmm. Mr. Niebla, Alan Stone, Abismo Negro, Zorro still works.

Upcoming Shows
03/16: Plaza de Toros Monumental, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon (Rey de Reyes)
at some point, there's gotta be more.

March 13, 2008

taped 02/10, aired 03/02

The opener, with the usual segunda crew, was better than usual. It was about four minutes shorter than usual, and maybe we lost some of the meandering in the process. Things were also working in their favor - Fabian was hitting his moves, Purpura was hitting his moves, everyone lived.

I'd like to see more of Panther and Warrior, but it was pretty odd here.

March 12, 2008

taped 02/22, aired 03/01

I liked this week's minis match better than the last, even though it was a shorter length. Main was okay build for Ultimo/Marco but not greatly notable past that. It's still fun to see Rey back on the rudo side.

taped 02/03, aired 02/24

Marecla and Amapola were better than their partners, like usual. Luna Magica was not very good, like usual. Everything felt squeezed into as little time as possible in the third fall.

I bet Trueno enjoyed his meteoric rise to the uppercard for the two weeks it lasted.

March 11, 2008

taped 02/15 & 02/17, aired 02/23

Rey Bucanero losing his mask was an odd pick for the classic match. They must legitimately picking them based on requests.

(taped 01/26, aired 02/23)

I watched this two weeks ago and remember nothing.

Mini Chessman as a tecnico: dumb idea!
Argenis: dumb idea on many levels, also not actually very good
X-Pac wrestling: weird
all the rudo teams feuding: eh

March 10, 2008

taped 01/19/08, aired 02/16/08

If you ever find yourself standing in front of a table that's leaning in the corner, you need to move. If you're being held there, don't worry too much, because the guy holding you will let go just in time for you to move and die in your place, but don't be holding people yourself.

This was a lot of things going, that have been going for a while, and I don't know if there will ever be an actual conclusion.

Mini Abismo vs Mini Charly is never going anywhere, right? Because Mini Abismo is never losing his mask while normal Abismo is around, Charly losing his hair would be really dumb, and there's no minis title in AAA. I wonder if they'll turn Mini Abismo to match normal Abismo. That would be really dumb. (Maybe he can be Mini Mr. Niebla?)

It was the same for most every other match. Lots of middle time filling chapters going on, and not with anything really great. The Halloween/Chessman has been better than could've been expected, but I don't expect this to be a trend.,

And then it rained. So I can pass on this.

CMLL (SUN) 03/09 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT, ix @ box y lucha]
3) Metatron & Oro II b Fraile de la Muerte & Guero Loco
4) Mascarita Dorada & Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Black Warrior & Pierrothito
5) Atenea, Hiroka, Medussa b Luna Mágica, Marcela, Silueta
6) Dos Caras Jr., Rayman, Sagrado DQ Danger (Guadalajara), Olímpico, Satánico

Lizmark Jr. missed the main event. That's his move. Tecnicos nearly had the third fall won, so Satanico fouled Sagrado and yanked Dos' mask. Satanico decided this meant he got a heavyweight title match. Works for me. Ix's recap says the show was quarter fall.

Ovaciones timed the Coliseo Women's title match in at 12:23. Sick Mistico @ box y lucha has another recap of the show. trevor_time @ box y lucha posted photos of the Wagner show in Torreon.

El Universal has a bio of Irma Gonzalez, now 70.

El Mesias told Univision that Sunday is Cibernetico's last chance. Rey de Reyes is Sunday, which is odd to me.

CMLL (SUN) 03/09 Arena Coliseo [TAKER @ el Martiente]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II DQ Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Fire, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Bracito de Oro, Pequeño Olímpico, Tzuki
3) Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Máximo b Damián 666, Ephesto, Texano Jr.
4) Amapola b Dark Angel [CMLL WOMEN]
5) Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero b LA Park, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.

Ultimo fouled Volador and pinned him for the win. Ultimo and Volador argued after the match, and will be on opposite sides next week.

Amapola took the second and third falls. I think that's the beginning of a story and not the end.

Rayos won the first fall, and one got their mask yanked in the second.

IWRG (SUN) 03/02 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas #254]
1) Ambar & Bacteria b Judas el Traidor & Semental
2) Halcon Salvaje & Star Boy b Trauma I & Trauma II
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Chicoe Che, Freelance, Soberano
4) Cyborg, El Hijo del Diablo, Xibalba b Bogeman, Mr. America, Negro Navarro
5) Black Terry, Cien Caras Jr., El Hijo de Pierroth b El Hijo del Solitario, Tarzan Boy, Ultramán Jr.

Tarzan is a tecnico here, having been turned on previously. Multifacetico missed the show, out from injuries suffered in his title match with Black Terry. Mr. America is not Hulk Hogan, I think.

Tarzan's interviewed in the latest superluchas. He's still under CMLL suspension, and may be for three more months, but he talked to them and they gave him the okay to work here until he's back. He's enjoying the chance to work on the tecnico side for the first time in a long, and to work at all. Toscano confirms he changed to that name in CMLL because of licensing issues - they couldn't market Tarzan Boy action figures because someone else had the rights to the names. Toscano's looked far more sculpted these days and he credits it to things he learned at a bodybuilding exhibition. Toscano specifically denies being on steroids - he feels like he'd gain too much weight, and it's hurt him in the ring.

There's also a good Gray Shadow in the magazine. He spells it with an 'a' there.

IWRG (THU) 03/06 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas #254]
1) Bacteria b Rey Estruendo
2) Trauma I & Trauma II b Avisman & Chico Che
3) Black Terry, Mr. Matanza, Veneno b Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Multifacético
4) el Hijo Del Anibal b Máscara Año 2000, Pantera, Ultramán Jr., Toscano, Negro Navarro, Septiembre Negro II, El Hijo del Solitario [cage, Leyende de Seda]

It's a good thing they Hijo de Anibal won, or the big picture of Anibal they had him pray in front of after the match would've been kinda out of place. (Maybe it's there always. Perhaps.) Anyway, Universo 2000 ran in after the match to attack Anibal, and Toscano ran him off. Universo's going to actually wrestle a match next week.

Accion

CMLL: Averno vs Hector. Clips of Avenro hitting his finisher (but not getting the pin), and of Averno's whole (well, 90%) exposed face when Garza rips the mask. Not sure I would've gone with that, but okay. Perro runs in and then back sinto the crowd,. Garza gests the twisting moonesualt for the win.

AAA: Octagon, Laredo Kid, Gronda vs Mr. Niebla, Histeria, Psicosis. Beside the opener, this was the match to cut from the actual show if they want 1:45, because it's kinda irrelevant. So it get plenty of time here.Three people (if you count Gronda) are standing outside the ring to catch Laredo Kid's springboard twisting moonsault, and Laredo Kid doesn't get caught. Professional! Gronda actually comes closest. Niebla missed on his handspring, but his leadership causes Psicosis to hit Octagon with a chair. Niebla does get the the Nieblina for the win.

Lineups

CMLL (THU) 03/13 Arena Neza

CMLL (FRI) 03/07 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, ESTO, superlucha]
1) Starman & Tony Rivera b Calígula & Méssala
2) Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. b Arkangel de la Muerte, Skandalo, Virus
3) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Valiente CO Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Universo 2000
4) Dos Caras Jr. & LA Park DQ Atlantis & Último Guerrero [torneo, sf]
5) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Villano V b Blue Panther & Dr. Wagner Jr. [torneo, sf]
6) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Villano V b Dos Caras Jr. & LA Park [torneo, final]
7) Héctor Garza b Averno

Garza got attacked by two Avernos to start the match - Mephisto dressed up like his partner to give him an early edge. Averno couldn't finish Hector off in that first fall, and Hector ended up winning the fall. Perro tried to help out in the second fall, but his interference backfired and Hector took in two. Hector warned Perro this is whats' coming on 03/21.

Dos and Park beat the Guerreros clean. Perro Jr. and Villano V used the ropes to pin Blue Panther and Dr. Wagner, then used a foul to take the match.

Marco took out all the rudos with Air Italia to the outside in the third fall of his match, and none could make it back in time.

CMLL (TUE) 03/11 Arena Mexico
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Carrona & Cholo
2) Fire, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666 vs Celestial, Electrico, Shockercito
3) Fabián el Gitano, Felino, Máximo vs Dr. X, Mentallo, Shigeo Okumura
4) Alex Koslov, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
5) Héctor Garza, La Sombra, Marco Corelone vs Damián 666, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Hey, look, the Mexican trios champs not together AND Alex and Marco not together. They're totally doing on purpose, someone in CMLL must dislike the idea of stable tecnico groups. (This is a crackpot theory, but you'll notice we've only heard about Mistico's idea for a group from outside sources.)

CMLL (FRI) 03/14 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Metálico vs Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. vs Loco Max, Nitro, Skandalo
3) Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei
4) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Villano V
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Kinda weak card. Build for the main event and not much else. While that's not the strongest group of Rebeldes (maybe the weakest?), I presume there are some pleased people that match ended up second and the women's match ended up third.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #119
02/29 Mexico: Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro b Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Super Nova

CMLL

(ESTO) Panico sets the record straight.
- There's no favoritism at all. You must have quality, and you must prove it!*
- Everyone has to earn their place** and "respects the ideology of each of the leaders, whether tecnico or rudo"***
- CMLL doesn't protect Mistico, the people who challenge Mistico talk a lot but don't sign their name on the line when it comes down to it
- CMLL has no issues with anyone and opens the door to all luchadors worthy of competing here.
- They certainly don't have a problem with Hijo del Santo, because they respect independent talent - look at Dr. Wagner!****
- signing Axxel will not cause any problems with Hijo del Santo****

* - Just like Leono
** - Just like La Mascara
*** - I sincerly have no idea what this means
**** - who's been pulled from shows he was supposed to work with Santo
***** - well, any problems CMLL actually cares about

The actual news here is CMLL cares about these issues, and people's comments about these issues, enough to publicly respond to them. They don't seem to normally do that, and most of the press coverage of Axxel joining CMLL was positive and went out of their way to skirt the issue Hijo del Santo issue. Something must've hit a nerve. (Sorry?)

Just so the actual point's not lost in the debate: both sides are pretty screwed up here, it sure looks like CMLL is going to eventually win based on the crowds Santo is drawing, and we're all hoping Axxel has become great to mitigate that part of the problem.

CMLL (FRI) 03/07 Arena Mexico
1) Starman & Tony Rivera vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Skandalo, Virus
3) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Valiente vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Universo 2000
4) Blue Panther & Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Dos Caras Jr. & LA Park and el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Villano V and Atlantis & Último Guerrero [torneo]
5) Héctor Garza vs Averno

Ovaciones expects the Perros to get involved in the main event. Notimex says the same. Averno (the double world middleweight champion) is here to be the warmup man for Perro two weeks from now, so I'm guessing the run-ins won't be until after Garza's clearly won the match. Garza, in an interview with ESTO, says he did not expect it to come to this with Perro, but vows to keep his hair. The article notes he's still CMLL Trios and WWA Tag champ with the Perros.

We're supposed to hoping for Wagner/Park to meet in the tournament. Maybe that'll be a first round match, so the Perros and Guerreros can square off as well.

The family of Black Shadow will appear at the Dos Leyendas show.

IWRG (WED) 03/05 Roots Magic Club [El Sol de Cuautla, MT, ESTO]
1) Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Multifacético b Black Terry, Trauma I, Trauma II
2) Mascarita Sagrada (original), Skaide, Voladorcito b Bracito de Plata, Katito Kung Lee, Pentagoncito
3) el Hijo Del Anibal, Groon XXX, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. DQ Canek, Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

I can't believe this was really a three match card. Are they going to show one match per hour?

Hijo de Anibal won the Leyenda de Seda tournament last night. Universo 2000 made another surprise appearance. I wonder if he'll make his scheduled appearance tonight.

Ovaciones profiles Gato Eveready. He says he's a five year vet from San Cristobal de la Casas, Chiapas. He also says he could've gone to the Atlanta Summer Olympics, but he decided to dedicate himself to professional wrestling instead. Let's make believe this does immediately sound like a tall tale and examine it a bit more:

year Gato Eveready claims he started wrestling: 2003, five years ago
year of the Atlanta Summer Olympics: 1996
so he was learning professional wrestling for 7 years?

Gato Eveready would like to fight all the top wrestlers in AAA and get a shot at Octagon's title, just to test himself.

"Que Viva La Lucha", a film about lucha libre in Tijuana (including Extreme Tiger) is part of the San Diego Latino Film Festival. It airs Saturday at 5pm. Sign On San Diego has an interview with the filmmaker.

El Sol de San Luis Potosi writes about the Wednesday's AAA taping being a big success. ESTO writes about Mesias's return.

CMLL (MON) 03/10 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano, Super Star, SWAT vs Espiritu Maligno, Furia Chicana, Karisma
2) Batman, the Tiger, Tigre Rojo vs Flecha, Negro Navarro, Policeman
3) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. vs Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Grey Shadow, Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Averno & Mephisto vs Héctor Garza & Místico [CMLL TAG]

This sounds fun. Odd to see La Flecha turn up here.

CMLL (SUN) 03/09 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Milenio
2) Idolo vs Impostor
3) Metatron & Oro II vs Fraile de la Muerte & Guero Loco

5) Luna Mágica, Marcela, Silueta vs Atenea, Hiroka, Medussa
6) Dos Caras Jr., Rayman, Sagrado vs Lizmark Jr., Olímpico, Satánico

Minis haven't been out here since last November, and maybe all of one time in 2007. Women haven't usually worked GDL over.

CMLL (TUE) 03/11 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Golden vs Virgo
2) Nube Roja vs Danger (Gudalajara)

2) Chico del Barrio, Espanto Jr., Sexi Piscis vs Mini 5X, Principe de Oro, Sexy Francis
3) 5X, Huracan Ramirez, Ultraman vs Cien Caras Jr., Kaoma Jr., Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

If I understand this right, each match in the tournament will go eight minutes, and they'll determine the winner by fan applause. That's different.

indy (SUN) 03/23 Gimnasio Municipal Juarez [Sergio Guzman velazquez]
1) Fuego & Green Danger vs Rey Halcon & Samuray
2) Peluchin II & Stigma vs Guerrero Escarlata & Rey Guerrero
3) Hijo del Faraon, Rayman, Sicodélico Jr. vs Cinta de Oro, Muneco Infernal, Rey Escorpion
4) Casandro, Magno, Mystico vs Angel Blanco Jr., El Dandy, El Hijo del Solitario
5) Dos Caras Sr., Groon XXX, Latin Lover vs Nicho el Millionario, Villano IV, Villano V

Why don't I have every copy of the Mistico comic book? I do not think it can get greater than KeMonito in a knife fight. The posts notes the lack of continuity between panels, which would seem to be an issue.

Where does KeMonito shop for shoes, anyway?

Stunned there's a recap of a Chicago event on superluchas today and I'm not somehow involved.

Maybe it's the sure to be big purse for the title match.

There's no chance I'm making it to the ELLMEX show - I've already agreed to do multiple things (and also vote!). I'm pretty sure I'll make it to next Sunday's show. I'd like to make it to this Sunday's show, but I have no idea until Sunday morning.

Projected Air Date (#827)
Mexico: 03/17/08
US: 04/05/08

Mesias did return, thought not until after the main event. Hell Brothers won when Cibernetico showed up to attack Konnan, and Mesias took advantage of the chance to rant at all his rivals at the same time. He's going to end Cibernetico and get revenge on Zorro and the Legion for taking him out.

Zorro, a winner yet again, was busy complaining to Prez Roldan about the level of his matches. Roldan told him to stop whining or leave. Mari gave Fabi the Michinoku driver again for the win, and Fabi was strechered out again.

Laredo Kid replaced Octagon and picked up the pin on Scorpio Jr.

Psicosis and Abismo did not get along, but Abismo still manged to be Alebrije to advance.

Not sure why two tecnicos and a rudo teamed up to face the clowns, but it probably didn't matter too much. This is win #79 (so they've won seven matches in four days!), and they're still heavily pushing the match with the Hell Brothers. The Hell Brothers have better things to do at Rey de Reyes, so this is going on for a while longer.

Mini Abismo pinned Sagrada in the opener.

Rey De Reyes Qualifiers (14 of 16)
tecnicos (6)
Aerostar
Mascara Divina
Brazo de Plata
Elegido
Alan Stone
Abismo Negro

rudos (8)
Decnnis
Scorpio Jr.
Pirata Morgan
Mr. Niebla
Head Hunter I
Zorro
Zumbido
Psicosis II

remaining (2)
- Billy Boy & Super Fly OR
- Antifaz del Norte & Histeria OR
- Chris Stone & Super Calo

I'd assume Billy & Super Fly move on and I'm guessing the final four will be Abismo Negro, Alan Stone, Mr. Niebla and Zorro.

Upcoming Tapings

IWRG (WED) 03/05 Roots Magic Club
3) el Hijo Del Anibal, Groon XXX, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. DQ Canek, Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

Surprise in the main event: Canek. Surprise run in? Universo Dos Mil, still bitter about losing his mask way back when. The Capos, young and old and fake, all turned on Canek in the third fall.

Universo's still listed as working CMLL tomorrow, so we should have a good idea about people being allowed to work both groups.

Ovaciones writes about the Mexico Sports Hall of Fame toda. Besides Mil and Demon Sr. being inducted, Blue Panther (29 years of wrestling), Pompin (50 years a referee!) and Paco Alonso ("great promoter in recent years", huh) will be honored.

The Tijuana Box Y Lucha commission is in talks to get an AAA local event.

"Super Amigos" airs at the South Florida Museum on 03/11.

Mozangeles @ el Martinete posted Metalico, Sombra de Plata, Tiger Blanco vs Caligula, Hooligan, and Mr. Mexico from last August.

box. This weekend is daylight savings time in the US.

AAA US: Abismo vs Niebla, take 1. Legion vs Alan, Charly, and Alebrije in the main event.

FSE US: Women's Trios. Valiente in action.

CAN52: ULTIMO GUERRERO VS MARCO CORELONE.

---

CMLL MEX: Top 3, or maybe top 2 if the torneo goes long.

AAA MEX: Orizaba taping, with four more qualifying for Rey de Reyes. It's only a 1:45 show, so I'm guessing the Pirata/Barrios and Revelos AAA matches get bumped at least.

FSE MEX: Either the tercera or semimain will be skipped, because it makes more sense to include the women's trio to set up the title match. I'm guessing the tecnicos vs Guerreros match sticks.

CadenaTres: Minis to start, title match to finish. If someone's recording this show this week, upload it some place the Mentallo fans can get it.

IWRG on Azteca: Uh, the minis match and the main event? Tough to call when they haven't announced more than 3 matches.

CMLL (TUE) 03/04 Arena Mexico
1) Calígula & Zayco DQ Sombra de Plata & Trueno
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Último Dragoncito DQ Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
3) Fabian el Gitano, Felino, Máximo b Mentallo, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
4) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto b Negro Casas, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
5) Rey Bucanero b Mr. Águila [CMLL LH]

Ovaciones has TIMES for the title match
1st fall: 3 minutes
2nd fall: 2 minutes
3rd fall: 4:19 minutes
(total 9:26)

The report didn't think too highly of the match. Reforma echos the complaints, saying neither guy showcased much. Mr. Aguila suffered a hip injury in the third fall, which may have cut it short.

Ovaciones (still green) and Reforma (good level) are split on Mentallo. Fabian replaced Stuka Jr. in the match, which never helps.

Mini Damian yanked Dorada's mask in the minis match. Novato rudos lost via excessive violence, beating Sombra de Plata up too much after Trueno had left the match injured.

ESTO confirms what the Observer had reported a while back: Eddie Guerrero will be inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame at Rey de Reyes. Arturo Rivera has random thoughts from the Orizaba taping. AAA tapings again tonight in SLP, and their website promotes Mesias' third coming. Theortically, this is to promote his Rey de Reyes appearance, but this taping won't air till the day after the major show.

(Reforma via Jazzo) Canek returns to action tonight at the first IWRG/Azteca taping. He's missed most of a year with surgery on each knee, and tells the people he really shouldn't be back for two months more. If he doesn't feel right after this match, he'll take those two months off.

Noticias Oaxaca has a bio of local wrestler Birdman. Not, not the lawyer.

The latest edition of Tercera Cuerda podcast has the Mini Perros del Mal. Dr. Wagner will be on CUC (university radio) Thursday at 11AM.

Ford is running with a Hispanic campaign, matching it's cars with (fictional) luchadors. Champeons del Camino include El Galan, Senor Piedra, Dragon Techno, Galan and Super Viba and the commercials will air on Univision, Telemundo and other spanish language media.

Sergio Ossio has been posting some interesting history pieces on daily or more on Superluchas, like this one on the Brazos vs the Villanos.

CMLL (FRI) 03/21 Arena Mexico [ESTO]
1) Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Sagrado vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
4) Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs Mr. Águila, Terrible, Villano V
5) Atlantis, Místico, Último Guerrero vs Averno, LA Park, Mephisto [relevos incredible]
6) Héctor Garza vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo [hair]

Tickets are on sale now on ticketmaster, prices going from $65 to $490 ($6 to $46US)

Not much news from what we didn't already know. Nice to see the minis get on there, and I hope the feuding mini rudo factions have put aside their differences. (Did we ever find out what went down in Neza? I don't think so.) There's other matches in the undercard which could be good if things break right, but no sure bets.

I'm already reading way too much into Dark Angel being on the card and Amapola not, as far as what it means to Sunday's title match.

5) ?, Intocable, Octagón vs Decnnis, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido
6) Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico vs Abismo Negro, Head Hunter I, Ron Killings

Projected Air Date (#828)
Mexico: 03/24/08
US: 04/12/08

Cibernetico's return to the ring. On TV, anyway. Look, Zorro even gets one last win before the agony starts.

I'm thinking the ? is more "we were hoping to have La Parka Jr. back by now" than an actual surprise.

Clowns win, check. I think Abismo wins his way into Rey de Reyes on the show before, bringing Psicosis with him, and so Billy and Super Fly sneak in to even it out. Billy's going to feel really odd not losing his hair at Rey de Reyes this year.

4) Gallo, Leon Blanco, Metalik b Malefico, Máscara Mágica, Toxico
5) Grey Shadow & Místico DQ Averno & Mephisto

CMLL says Averno lost to La Mistica, MT says Mephisto yanked Mistico's mask just before the submission. About the same.

Sunday's Arena Coliseo card has been changed from having a women's trios to only having Dark Angel vs Amapola for the title. Considering the other four were Blanca, Sahori, La Nazi and Medussa, that's a win. I'm thinking they might still save the title change for Arena Mexico, but I don't feel strongly about it.

Tonight's the big Rey Bucanero vs Mr. Aguila battle for the CMLL Light Heavyweight Championshp. In Reforma, Rey blames incompetent refereeing for last week's loss, but that's all in the past. Tonight's match, Rey says, looks to be a technical fight. (So we've got a finish involving a foul.)

Ovaciones has a short bio of Mentallo, making his Arena Mexico debut today. Canadians may be taking over CMLL.

2) Billy Boy & Estrellita vs Gran Apache & Lady Apache
3) Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Super Calo vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown
4) Espíritu, Mesias, Zorro vs Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico

The show here scheduled for last night was "postponed to later this month, due to logistics". Huh. Anyway, they get a better card the second try.

Ovaciones has details on the IWRG/Azteca show.
- Even though it's going to be IWRG running things, the shows are going to be called "Lucha Azteca"
- The program will air on Channel 7 (TV Azteca) starting Saturday, at 11 AM. It's a one hour show.
- It will NOT air Mexico City.
- Silver King, Dr. Wagner Jr., Mascara Ano 2000, Tarzan Boy, Rayman, Turbo, Gronda, Pantera and LA Park are some of the non-IWRG regulars mentioned as working here. The usual mix of IWRG guys (Oficials, Jr. Capos) and UMLL indepedents (Hijos de Solitario and Anibal, Negro Navarro) round out the list. I guess we'll know if CMLL has any issues with that by Friday.
- Announced taping schedule looks something like this:

03/05 Roots Magic Club: for 03/08, 03/15, 03/22?
03/22 Tampico: for 03/29, 04/05
04/06 Arena Naucalpan: for 04/12, 04/19
04/16 Roots Magic Club: for 04/26, 05/03
05/02 Centro Banamex/Lucha Libre Expo: for 05/10, 05/17
and two tapings per month for the rest of the year, if this keeps up. They've got 10 tapings planned, which takes them thru July.

RFC posted one press release, Black Terry Jr. has a longer version, where they mention running in 14 different cities. That's a lot of expansion. Now that I've give up on it, there's a IWRG roster too. I think if we've got Mini Skayde running around, they need to get the bigger Skayde showing up too.

I've seen a video feed for TV Azteca 7, but I'm not sure if this is Mexico City (and IWRG will be blocked out) or not. I couldn't get it running myself.

IWRG's website is down, but has been for a few days. Maybe they can get Azteca to do that for them.

Yoshie and Dragon, (BlackTerryJr. @ ByL)

CMLL (SAT) 03/01 Auditorio Municipal de Tampico [RFC]
1) Aborto & Mensajero de la Muerte b King Boy & Rayo Azteca
2) Darling Boy & Iron Boy b Alejandro Montana Jr. & Baby Ruiz
3) Alex Koslov, Astro Boy, Oro Negro b Dr. X, Nitro, Silver Fox
4) Loco Castillo L Máximo, Felino [hair]
5) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Mr. Águila b Lizmark Jr. & Rey Bucanero

Lizmark Jr., in fact, did wrestle a match this weekend. Rey was here replacing Atlantis, among many CMLL switches on the card. Felino replaced La Mascara, who had missed the lead up this match. The story they're going here with is the commissioner would not allow La Mascara in the match, because it'd be two relatives versus one Loco Castillo. Maximo took his hair.

CMLL LLVIP (SAT) 03/01 Arena Solidaridad [RFC]
1) Atomo (Monterrey) & Dark War b Angel del Silencio & Rey Pantera
2) Dranzer & Scravos b Dralion & Morvius
3) La Máscara b Androide, Black Diamond, Caifan Rockero I, Diluvio Negro I, Hijo de Trueno, Máscara Púrpura, Misterioso II, Mongol Chino, Principe Rebelde, Raiden, Sangre Azteca, Silver Star, Stuka Jr., Virus, Volador Jr. [cibernetico, trofero]

La Mascara was actually booked over here. He got a trophy instead of a hair.

CMLL (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones, SickMistico @ Box Y Lucha
1) Dr. X, Hooligan, Skandalo b Sensei, Sombra de Plata, Trueno
2) Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Princesa Blanca b Amapola, Medussa, Rosa Negra
3) Satánico, Terrible, Texano Jr. b La Máscara, Mictlán, Sagrado
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr. b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
5) Último Guerrero b Marco Corelone

Ultimo used a ref bump and a foul in the third fall for the win. Ovaciones report says this proves Mexican wrestling > Italian wrestling.

Dark Angel asked for a title shot after her team's win. Sounds like it'll happen this Sunday, probably in the semimain spot.

Atlantis replaced Lizmark Jr., who missed both the morning and afternoon shows.

Triplea.com.mx says the Psycho Cirus is up to 72 wins. Looks like they'll hit 100 on Rey de Reyes.

AAA (MON) 03/03 Domo de la Feria [am.com.mx]
1) La Parkita, May Flowers, Sexy Star vs Jerrito Estrada, La Diabolica, Yuriko
2) Cuervo, Escoria, Espíritu vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown
3) Gronda, Intocable, Super Porky vs Kenzo Suzuki, Pirata Morgan, Scorpio Jr.

indy (MON) 03/03 Deportivo Torreon [El Siglo de Torreon]
1) Fuerza Infernal vs Cadete
2) Flashman & Samael vs Gemelo Muerte & Rey Fobia
3) Guerrero & Vikingo vs Cachorro & Templario
4) Atomo, Demonio, Oso Negro Jr. vs Dragoncito, Espacial, Tackle

That's the CMLL mini coming back to work a main event.

Vanguardia has a long bio of the Zorro Platedo famimly .

Mascarita Sagrada is holding a contest to redesign his wardrobe top. You've got to be on mySpace and use the colors he already uses, and the winner gets an official mask.

Chile's El Morro Cotudo writes about Bolivain wrestling. I think this was the same group written about in the NY Times a few years ago. One female trio uses "the Final Countdown" as their entrance music. The world is a small place.

Horror Year Book didn't like El Mascarado Massacre , a film staring Rey Misterio Sr. as a masked serial killer.

SuperLuchas #253 has Perro and Hector and an interview with Axxel.

Cuautla, Morelos has reformed it's box y lucha commission. The city had been unregulated. They're looking at improving safety and standards in both disciplines.

Mariotepicense @ el Martinete posted lots of photo from a CMLL show in Tepic.

March 2, 2008

Arturo Rivera says La Parka Jr. will NOT be wrestling at Rey de Reyes. He's suffered a set back, which would explain why he's been off the spot shows again. Arturo also connects Perro Aguayo Jr. opening a shop at Arena Mexico to the beginning of the end for Brazo de Oro (doesn't make sense to me either) and talks about the lunch where Pena came up with the Payasos gimmick.

Ovaciones lists a new IWRG main event for tonight: an eight man tournament including Mascara Ano 2000, Tarzan Boy, Hijo de Anibal, Negro Navarro, Septiembre Negro II, Hijo del Solitario, Pantera, and Ultraman Jr., with the final match in a cage.

I'm sure it'll change again, not just because it's IWRG, but because Pantera would have to be on some heck of a flight to make it back from Philly in time for the show. He, Incognito and Lince Dorado won CHIKARA's 28 team King of Trios tournament this afternoon. Pantera pinned Mike Quackenbush in a semifinal tournament match and asked for a shot at Quackenbush's NWA Junior Heavyweight title, which will apparently happen at some point in the near future. If I may pointless segue for a sec: it's an NWA title, Pantera's the perfect fit for Blue Demon's NWA Mexico (not with the major groups but a moderate important name), I wonder if that match is coming to Mexico. Not the first time thru, because no NWA show has actually been announced, but it's the type of match I expect eventually if the NWA Mexico promotion actually runs shows at some point.

indy (SUN) 02/24 Coliseo Coacalco [superluchas #253]
1) Estigma & Eterno b Daga & Lobo Metalico
2) Storm & Terrorista b Espartano I & Espartano III
3) Dark Angel & Goddess b Amapola & La Nazi
4) Panterita, Suicida, Último Vampiro DRAW Felino, Kid Tiger, Puma King
5) Ave Nocturna, Wizard, Yakuza DRAW Hanaoka, Satoshi, Suzuki

Back to back draws probably aren't fun to watch. Felino and kids worked as rudos in their match.

IWRG (THU) 02/28 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas #253]
1) Bacteria b Semental
2) Chico Che & Soberano b Trauma I & Trauma II
3) el Hijo del Pierroth, Mr. Matanza, Veneno b Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Miss Gaviota
4) Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Septiembre Negro II b El Fantasma, el Hijo Del Anibal, Ultraman Jr.
5) Black Terry b Multifacético [IWRG IC WELTER]

Black Terry retained, clean! This Pierroth is a new one, and fatter looking than the other ones. The best guess is it's the original (and maybe actual) son of Pierroth, who blew out his ankle long ago and never returned.

ULTIMO DRAGON GYM (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo
1) Arkangel de la Muerte, Daisuke Hanaoka, Negro Navarro b Amigo Suzuki, Bryan Lee, Kajiwara
2) Pequeño Damian 666 DCO Toshiya Matsuzaki [CMLL MINI]
3) Brazo de Platino & Último Dragón DQ Atlantis & Último Guerrero [COPA YAMAHA, sf]
4) Olimpico & Texano Jr. b Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone [COPA YAMAHA, sf]
5) La Máscara, Máximo, Súper Nova b Hiromi Horiguchi, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
6) Último Dragón & Yutaka Yoshie b Olímpico & Texano Jr. [COPA YAMAHA, final]

Olimpico and Texano cheated to beat Alex and Marco. Guerreros ripped Dragon's mask off and Platino was strechered out. I guess it's just lucky Yutaka Yoshie happened to fly from Japan and be backstage for this show. (Ultimo Dragon is odd.)

Damian and Matsuzaki were outside for 20, but champion retains it. Mascara pinned Ohara, so that feud won't die. Winners of that trio match got soup from a sponsor.

AULL (WED) 03/05 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Rey Krystal & Sombra Escarlata vs Hombre de Guerra & Sol de Oriente
2) Mini Tortuguillo Ninja I, Mini Tortuguillo Ninja II, Mini Tortuguillo Ninja III vs Mini Nacho Libre, Pequeno Angel, Pequeno Demonio
3) Blasfemia, Chavo Extreme, Judas el Traidor vs Cerebro Maligno, Epitafio, Herejia [possesion of Trolly]
4) Chucho el Roto, Terry 2000, Yakuza vs Rey Krimen, Sadico, Sepulturero I
5) Alex Koslov, La Máscara, Volador Jr. vs Olímpico, Onita Santana, Sangre Azteca

A battle for possession of the rudo mascot. I can't believe this hasn't happened with Monito yet.

CMLL (SUN) 03/09 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Bracito de Oro, Pequeño Olímpico, Tzuki vs Fire, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
3) Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Máximo vs Damián 666, Ephesto, Texano Jr.
4) Dark Angel, Princesa Blanca, Sahori vs Amapola, La Nazi, Medussa
5) LA Park, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero

They may be setting up Dark Angel vs Amapola. Or I may just have the 3rd/4th match flipped. Ovaciones preview for tonight's show still teases Ultimo vs Corelone, so I wouldn't be surprised to see this card get changed midweek. because it's tonight, and I forgot.

(Shining Road) Silver King won the AJPW Junior Heavyweight Title on their 03/01 show.

Accion higlights
CMLL: all of the main event. Perro pulled Mistico's mask right when he had Averno in La Mistica. Maybe next time he should just break it up. Mistico got smushed by Corelone's Superman plancha into the ring, and Corelone got cracked in the head on Mephisto's tope con giro.

AAA: Mexican Powers Familia de Tijuana vs Alebrije, Laredo Kid, Mascara Divina. Absolutely hilarious to see Alebrije toss Cuije into a splash, and then they clip to him doing the same exact spot with Extreme Tiger. That buried him more than even "Mini Extreme Tiger" did. Seeing Mascara Divina get a clean win here (no sign of Chessman in this photo) makes it seem like Nicho had a point about how strong this group was going to be booked.

Previous: 02/10 (Ixtapaluca), 02/15 (Queretaro), 02/23 (Minatitlan)

AAA TV (SAT) 03/01 Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba [Salvador Rodríguez Cruz @ el Martiente]
1) Barba Roja, Drake Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr. b Alan, Javi, Kevin, Ricky
2) Gran Apache, Jerrito Estrada, Mari Apache, Yuriko b Estrellita, Gato Eveready, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata
3) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Cuervo, Espíritu, Ozz
4) Konnan, Ron Killings, Zorro b Charly Manson, Chessman, Juventud Guerrera
5) Histeria, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II b Gronda II, Laredo Kid, Octagón
6) Alan Stone, Brazo de Plata, El Elegido, Zumbido b Electro Shock, Escoria, Intocable, Kenzo Suzuki [dome cage, Rey de Reyes tornero]

Projected Air Date (#826)
Mexico: 03/09
US: 03/29

Zumbido was first out to escape, then Alan and Elegdio. Porky did not actually climb the cage, but climbed a ladder the tecnicos brought in. I still find that hard to believe, but there's a picture a few posts down in that thread.

Mr. Niebla actually led the Vipers to a decent victory. Abismo Negro ran in after to attack, but both the Vipers and the Legion (don't say no to them) beat him down. Prez Roldan and his security tried to break it up, but got beatdown as well. Lights off, lights on, Cibernetico's in the ring and clearing house. I think I might know where Abismo Negro's ending up.

ZORRO WINS AGAIN. Charly Manson is to Zorro what Zorro is to Cibernetico and Mesias. Speaking of winning streaks, after the Clowns pressed slammed Ozz to another victory, the Hell Brothers showed up to challenge to face a "real trio." So many people so offended. Mari beat Estrellita with the Michinoku Driver, and Estrellita was strechered.

March 1, 2008

I count this as being right about no singles match between Wagner and Mistico on this show. Box y Lucha (!) has the scoop. They say Wagner is off the card because he didn't attend the press conference. Follow this sequence of events

1) CMLL holds a press conference
2) CMLL does not see Wagner there
3) CMLL announces Mistico vs Wagner, despite Wagner not being there to talk about it
4) CMLL only later realizes they didn't see Dr. Wagner
5) CMLL regretfully calls off match

Uh huh. That's not so likely. It doesn't explain the title match being off the show either. A sneaky company might have heavily teased a Mistico/Wagner match for the extra publicity even while knowing they won't be doing it.

New top 2 matches:

CMLL (FRI) 03/21 Arena Mexico
Ultimo Guerrero, Atlantis, Mistico vs Averno, Mephisto, LA Park [revelos incredible]
Hector Garza vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo [hair]

Found some time, and rather than wait for the backlogged recap...

sendspace

CMLL (FRI) 02/29 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ovaciones, ESTO]
1) Mictlan & Starman b Calígula & Méssala
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro b Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Super Nova
3) Felino, Máximo, Valiente b Ephesto, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero b Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Negro Casas
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Mistico DQ Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Mistico was well on his way to winning fall one of the main event, so Perro yanked his mask and destroyed it. Rudos dominated while Mistico was gone getting a new one, and Mistico started the comeback on his return. Corelone took out his partner Mistico with Air Italia by mistake, Garza still managed to moonsault Perro for the pin, Averno broke that up, and Mephisto fouled Garza for straight DQs. Second straight main event that's gone two falls. Perro was carried out after the match.

Guerreros dominated the semimain, though CMLL talks up the team of Shadow and Sombra. Ephesto took the third fall pinfall from Maximo to lose the tercera. I hope the Nuevo Infernales learned a valuable lesson about whom to team with. Mictlan replaced Molotov in the opener.

CMLL (SUN) 03/02 Arena Mexico
1) Sombra de Plata & Trueno vs Calígula & Zayco
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Último Dragoncito vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
3) Felino, Máximo, Stuka Jr. vs Mentallo, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
4) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto vs Negro Casas, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
5) Rey Bucanero vs Mr. Águila [CMLL LH]

Aguila gets his shot. This is Mentallo's Arena Mexico debut, unless I'm missing something, and his first TV match.

CMLL (FRI) 03/07 Arena Mexico
1) Starman & Tony Rivera vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Skandalo, Virus
3) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Valiente vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Universo 2000
4) Blue Panther & Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Dos Caras Jr. & LA Park and el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Villano V and Atlantis & Último Guerrero [torneo]
5) Héctor Garza vs Averno

That's odd. I guess the had people they wanted to get on the card, but didn't want to go to six matches, so we got a rare tag torneo. Or maybe Avenro & Mephisto won't end up getting the title match at Dos Leyendas. I know Wagner is still cheered plenty, but I figured his last turn on Mistico was supposed to set him up as a rudo (not that it'd work.) Maybe he's only teaming with upstanding men he can trust not to dive on him.

The main event could possibly be fun, or it could be eight minutes and two DQs. Note the tercera has the High Society imploding. Maybe Marco and Alex can recruit Valiente as a new member.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring # 118 has
02/22 Mexico: Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Tzuki b Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
02/24 Coliseo: Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Místico
(Video won't be up until tommorrow, probably)

Box Y Lucha posted video of Thursday's press conference.

CMLL (WED) 02/27 Arena Xalapa [luis_bunbury @ box y lucha]

2) Crazy Man, GMC, Ricky Estrada b Cosmos, Jaguar, Tigre Cosmico

4) Impacto, Sombra, Valiente DQ Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr.
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Héctor Garza b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Terrible

They were an Averno/Mephisto match from getting all the Perros on the card. Even the minis were there.

ULTIMO DRAGON GYM (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo
1) Amigo Suzuki, Bryan Lee, Kajiwara vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Daisuke Hanaoka, Negro Navarro
2) Pequeño Damian 666 vs Toshiya Matsuzaki [CMLL MINI]
3) La Máscara, Máximo, Súper Nova vs Hiromi Horiguchi, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
4) Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone vs ? & Último Dragón and Atlantis & Último Dragón and Lizmark Jr. & Olímpico

CMLL (MON) 03/03 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Blue Center & Forajido vs Aguila Guerrera & Mr. Rafaga

4) Heavy Metal, La Sombra, Negro Casas vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Grey Shadow, Héctor Garza, Místico vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

4) Canek, El Hijo Del Santo, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Blue Demon Jr., Hijo del Cien Caras, Rey Misterio Sr.

Box Y Lucha interviews Muerte Bucanera, a wrestler from the DTU show. Muerte Bucanera has only ONE HAND, he lost the other one in a work accident.
