February 29, 2008

More press conference details
- ESTO says CMLL actually announced only a normal one on one match between Garza and Perro, but Garza insisted on making a hair match and Perro had no chance but to accept.
- Axel (mispelling or trademarked?) said he'd be off for two weeks after his first appearance, due to a previously scheduled tour of South America. His second show will be on 04/25 and he plans to be a regular. Axel says his grandfather (Santo) and father-in-law (Huracan Ramirez) would be very happy for him, and "justice is being done." Reforma takes a pro-Hijo del Santo viewpoint, asking Axxel if he's only here because of the CMLL/Hijo del Santo problems and questioning Axel's skills. Guess we'll find out.
- All the articles are under the impression there's a Mistico/Wagner match on the undercard, but that'd be too much for one show.

As for tonight

CMLL (FRI) 02/29 Arena Mexico
1) Calígula & Méssala vs Molotov & Starman
2) Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Super Nova vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Felino, Máximo, Valiente vs Ephesto, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Mistico vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Garza says he's spoken to Marco and knows he can trust him, but isn't sure if he and Mistico can work together. Mistico says he's got better things to do than turn on Garza (like teaming with his high flying friends; Super Nova not included in this list.)

I hope Ephesto didn't join the Nuevo Infernales.

IWRG (THU) 02/21 Arena Naucalpan [the gladiatores]
1) Guerrero Inca b Bacteria
2) Angel de Oro & Chico Che b Nemesis IWRG & Radioactivo
3) Multifacético b Black Terry
4) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Matanza, Ogun, Veneno b Centauro, Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Negro Navarro
5) Kaminari, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Septiembre Negro II DQ Groon XXX, Pantera, Ultraman Jr.

Hijo de Cien Caras and Cien Caras Jr. ran out to help their cousin, only Cien Caras Jr. was actually Mascara Ano 2000.

CMLL (SUN) 02/24 Arena Neza [the gladiatores]
1) Black Danger & Black Heart b Super Chiva & Turako
2) Black Bird I & Black Bird II b Poder Boricua & Tony Cirio
3) Chac-Mol b Chamaco Davila
4) Calígula, Méssala, Ramstein b Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II, Starman
5) Marcela b Hiroka [MEX WOMEN]
6) Místico & Último Guerrero b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Olímpico [pi]

Ramstein fouled a Tapatio for the win. Clean finish in the women's match. Ultimo yanked Wagner's mask while Mistico got la Mistica on Olimpico for the main event win.

More later.

February 28, 2008

The show is scheduled for 03/21. The contracts were not signed today, but both wrestlers agreed to the match. (I'm guessing they just want to do another press conference for the contract signing in a couple weeks.)

Other news from the press conference, posted on CMLL.com
- Averno Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero will get a rematch for the tag team titles, meeting Averno & Mephisto on 03/21.
- "La tercera generaciond el Santo, su nieto Axel" debuts in Arena Mexico on 03/04 April 4rd

CMLL (MON) 02/25 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Toro Bill & Toro Bill Jr. b Aguila Guerrera & Fuerza Chicana
2) King Jaguar, Lestat, The Tiger b Kraken, Siki Osama Jr., Veneno
3) Diamante Negro, Euforia, Nosferatu b Astro Boy, Máximo, Stuka Jr.
4) Texano Jr., Villano IV, Villano V b Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Volador Jr.
5) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Rudo sweep! A fine day for evil, even if they had two rudo vs rudo matches. Perro snuck in a foul on Atlantis in the main event, and a Villano pinned Volador after stealing his mask. Next week's main event is Mistico, Hector and Grey Shadow vs Perro, Averno, Mephisto.

indy (THU) 02/28 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [El Siglo de Torreon]
1) Black Rock & Chacor vs Flashman & Rey Temepstad
2) Espacial & Scriba Jr. vs Fuego & Pequeno Star
3) Rey Fobia & Sexy Libra vs Dulce Paola & Moro Jr.
4) Angel de Oro, Sexy Piscis, Stuka I vs Guerrero Inca, Psycho, Sexy Frnacis

This card is changed, due to Guerrero Inca and Angel de Oro returning from working shows in Guadalajara and Naucalpan. (So posting this article is more to confirm they're the same guys.)

CMLL (THU) 02/28 Arena Neza [heri99 @ el martinete]
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Pequeño Violencia & Pierrothito vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween
3) ?, ??, Fabián el Gitano vs Dr. X, Ephesto, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Felino, Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Olímpico

Not sure if the minis match will end up with anything on the line. I bet one of those unfilled spots turns out to be Metalico.

CMLL LLVIP (SAT) 03/01 Arena Solidaridad [RFC]
1) Atomo & Dark War vs Angel del Silencio & Rey Pantera
2) Dralion & Morvius vs Dranser & Scrabos
3) Androide, Black Daimon, Caifan Rockero I, Misterioso II, Mongol Chino, Principe Rebelde, Sangre Azteca, Virus vs Diluvio Negro I, Hijo de Trueno, La Máscara, Máscara Púrpura, Raiden, Silver Star, Stuka Jr., Volador Jr. [cibernetico, trofero]

Ultimo Dragon Gym (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo [yosoyelkiss @ box y lucha]
1) ?, Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Último Dragón vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Olímpico, Último Guerrero

Poster doesn't mention anything but the main event (and even that's not so clear.) This is a noon show, before the usual Sunday Coliseo show. Haven't turned up any more info on it.

indy (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Mini Ranger I & Mini Ranger II vs Burrito & Tequilita
2) La Nazi, Mariposa, Mercurio, Monarca vs Hijo de Zorro Plateado Jr. & Zorro Plateado Jr.
3) Corazon Adicto, Jaque Mate Jr., Rey Demonio vs Ejecutor, Karonte, Vudu
4) Angel del Amor & Bam Bam (Monterrey) vs Herodes & Pancho Tequila
5) 5X, Golden Boy, Humberto Garza Jr., Huracan Ramirez vs Estrella Dorado Jr., Hijo de Espanto II, Monje Negro Jr., Simbolo

No AAA talent?

There's a "Pierroth II" working Arena Naucalpan this week (and last Sunday, I think.) SuperLuchas contacted Pierko el Boricua (former Hijo de Pierroth), who says Pierroth II is not him. Pierroth Jr. has gone back to X-Fly. Either this is the guy using Pierroth II (who's also supposed to have dropped the name) or Pierroth has already started selling his name again.

Ovaciones has an interview with Ultimo Gladiador, who's happy to finally get a chance in a big company. Gerado Camos Pozas says he worked as Mega in IWRG; I thought that was someone else.

(Reforma/Jazzo) Astro Boy is thrilled to be mentioned as a possible member of Mistico's yet-to-be-offical group, because he's being grouped in guys like La Mascara, Sombra and Volador Jr. who work main event matches and he (and Super Nova) are being recognized while still in the lower levels. Mistico coming up with "Reyes de Aires" for the name must've required a good 10 seconds of thought.

El Hijo del Santo went to a Bob Dylan concert. Dylan's apparently a Santo fan, so Hijo game him a mask and some of the movies.

Luchas Especial #28 is their second volume of famous mask losses.

Super Amigos airs as part of the Salem Film Fest on Sunday.

box

AAAUS: Spread the word, this is the show with the NOAH cameos. In action relevant to ongoing AAA storylines...actually, there isn't much. Another Psycho Circus match, more stuff with the Apaches in the opener.

FSEUS: Normal time. Virus teams up way too much with Ohara and Okumura instead of the Infernales.

CAN52: Minis should make it here, as should the Corelone/Ultimo feud

--------

AAA MEX: captains advance taping from this past weekend

CMLL: 1:45, so three matches. The TV opener should be fun.

FSE MEX: Grey Shadow's MVS debut + womens trio.

CadenaTres: Novatomania! Also Guerreros/Perros in the main event.

Tentative matches for DailyMotion
- CAN52: Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Tzuki b Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
- FSE: Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Felino b Black Warrior, Olímpico, Satánico (or I may just skip this show)
- AAA: Charly Manson, Chessman, Naomichi Marafuji b Abismo Negro, Kenzo Suzuki, Takeshi Mosishima

(extra stuff I keep forgetting to post)

DELGADO (SUN) 02/24 El Paso, TX [albert cerda]
1) Reo (El Paso) b Huniko
2) el Illegal & Punisher b Franky Olmos & Reo (El Paso)
3) Epidemia, Galactico, Rey Guerrero b Nacho Libre, Serpiente Blanco, Skybird
4) Rey Escorpion b NASCAR [DELGADO CHAMP]
5) Cobrade Sr., Imposter, Mystico DQ Hurrican Hector, La Migra, Massive

300 in attendance. Dr. Wagner will wrestle for this group on 03/16.

(prowrestling.net) Mesias is finished with TNA for the time being. This is what we figured from the outset, Mesias was always supposed to be back in March, but he was looking for a longer team deal with TNA which would let him work AAA shows (or pay him enough where he didn't have to work with AAA shows.) I'd think he'll turn up before Rey de Reyes, so they can sell the main event match.

The linked article says Mesias can make $100,000 in AAA. That's on the low side of a WWE deal, and higher than what TNA is paying. (Thanks to Mikeinformer)

Box Y Lucha posted an interview with Emilio Charles Jr. (who wants it clear that he's still wrestling, just not in CMLL) and video from an interview with Rambo, Rambo Jr. and Hijo del Faraon.

Super Luchas #252 has Cena, Silver King, Nakamura, and Hector Garza.

Apparently it's Psicosis II, not Nicho, who's promoting for AAA in Tijuana. I still could swear I read something about Nicho and AAA in SuperLuchas, but I've looked back and haven't found it. Sorry about that.

CMLL (TUE) 02/26 Arena Mexico [cmll, ovaciones]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II b Sakura & Yidra
2) Astro Boy, Metálico, Tony Rivera b Pólvora, Súper Comando, Vaquero
3) Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda b Luna Mágica, Marcela, Sahori
4) Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Máscara Púrpura b Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
5) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Águila, Terrible b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Aguila faked a foul from Rey in the first fall, then pinned Rey in the second. Aguila wants a title match nex week, and that sounds like fun. Ovaciones says the semimain was the best match.

CMLL (TUE) 02/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy b Milenio
2) Idolo b Danger (Guadalajara)
3) Silueta b Atena
4) Casanova b Super Maquina
5) Destroyer (Guadalajara) b Lider
6) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Magnum & Súper Nova
7) Damián 666, Euforia, Texano Jr. b Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Último Dragón

Texano snuck in a foul on Hector Garza for the win. Truenos pulled a mask switch to win the semimain. Destroyer hit Lider with a guitar to pin him. (Lots of ref bumps last night.) Atena was stretchered out after her match.

CMLL (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Golden & Thunder Boy vs Milenio & Valentin Mayo
2) Idolo & Virgo vs Guero Loco & Impostor
3) Casanova, Magnum, Metal Blanco vs Exterminador (Guadalajara), Infierno, Super Maquina
4) Gallo, Leon Blanco, Metalik vs Malefico, Máscara Mágica, Toxico
5) Grey Shadow & Místico vs Averno & Mephisto

CMLL (TUE) 03/04 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar vs Azazel
2) Carlo Roggi vs Fraile de la Muerte
3) Oro II vs El Egipcio
4) El Lider vs Destroyer
5) Flash & Máscara Púrpura vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
6) Alex Koslov & Dos Caras Jr. vs Damián 666 & Terrible
7) Héctor Garza vs Texano Jr.

Rematch over yesterday's finish.

NGX (FRI) 01/25 Arena Croc [josedjesus @ el Martinete]
1) Sickboy b Pain
2) Erick Snake b Carnage
3) Vertigo & Violento Jack b Aeroboy & Insane
4) Extreme Tiger b Lord Byron Elias
5) Damián 666 & Dragon Shiryu b Kaientai & Nigtmare

(Jazzo/Reforma) Mascarita Dorada wants another shot at the minis title.

February 26, 2008

CMLL (FRI) 02/29 Arena Mexico
1) Calígula & Méssala vs Molotov & Starman
2) Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Super Nova vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Felino, Máximo, Valiente vs Ephesto, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero
5) Héctor Garza, Mistico, Volador Jr. Marco Corelone vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Super Nova replaces Leono. Sombra and Mistico swap spots.

I kinda wonder if that semimain was setting up an undercard title match for Dos Leyendas, and maybe that title match plan has now changed. It's as good a reason for the swap as any.

Edit: I could swear Volador was there before. I'm losing my ability to read, how tragic.

CMLL's announced a press conference tomorrow at noon to announce something to do with Dos Leyendas and Hector Garza & El Hijo del Perro Aguayo. That should be obvious.

CMLL (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo
1) Dr. X, Hooligan, Skandalo vs Sensei, Sombra de Plata, Trueno
2) Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Princesa Blanca vs Amapola, Medussa, Rosa Negra
3) La Máscara, Mictlán, Sagrado vs Satánico, Terrible, Texano Jr.
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr. vs Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
5) Último Guerrero vs Marco Corelone

out: Maximo, Valiente, Olimpico, Atlantis, Lady Apache, La Nazi
in: Princesa Blanca, Medussa

I hope Lady Apache is working elsewhere and hasn't had a set back.

CMLL (SUN) 02/24 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
5) el Gallo b Misterioso II [OCCCIDENTE LH]
6) Heavy Metal, La Sombra, Volador Jr. b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Gallo is the new champ. Whomever is booking here seems to have done this smartly; instead of just winning a random tournament, Gallo beat a national star to win the championship.

indy (SUN) 02/24 Plaza de Toros Huamantla [themask @ elmartiente]
1) Lady Warrior & Mohicana b Chispita & Estrella de Fuego
2) La Parkita & Mini Winners b Mini Mascara Ano 2000 & Mini Universo 2000
3) Batman & Spiderman b ? & Sexy Piscis
4) Hijo de MS-1, MS-1, Veneno b Hijo de Huracan Ramirez Jr., Huracan Ramirez Jr., Ultramán Jr. [capitans hair?]
5) Celestial (Toreo), El Hijo Del Santo, Solar I b Blue Demon Jr., Cien Caras Jr., MS-1 Jr.

Pictures at the link. Crowd looks sparse. MS-1 got his hair shaved after his match, so I think there was a stip.

indy (SUN) 02/24 Arena Coliseo Monerrey [RFC]
1) Lady Puma & Mini Tequila b Pedro Navajas & Perla Negra
2) Mariposa Monarca & Mercurio b Tackle & the Warrior
3) Angel Negro, Ejecutor, La Bestia b Corazon Adicto, Maravilla Azteca, Sika
4) Pancho Tequila, Rey Demonio, Vudu b Angel del Amor, Bam Bam (Monterrey), Casanova
5) Hator, Hijo de Espanto II, Simbolo 2000 b Golden Boy, Humberto Garza Jr., Stuka I

indy (SUN) 02/24 Unidad Deportiva Oriente [Josedjesus @ el martiente]
1) Shakira, Tuno Negro, Virtualsito X b Boshido, Cuervo (Monterrey), Mitzunory
2) Shira & Venadita DQ Orquidea Negra & Polly
3) Chakos, Gallyo, Rey Imagen I b Hampon I, Rocko Martinez, Venom
4) Dr. Cianuro, Euforia (Monterrey), Homicida b Luis Reyna, Rosa de Monterrey, Virtual X
5) Gato Volador & La Momia AAA b Genocida & Karonte
6) Chacho Herodes, Difunto II, Principe Rebelde DQ Raiden, Ramses (Monterrey), Vaquero Romo

Ovaciones suggests Sunday's Coliseo main event may be changed to Ultimo Guerrero vs Marco Corelone in a singles match. This sounds like a great idea, though it would cause a bit of shuffling for the rest of the card.

Arturo Rivera suggests Abismo Negro may end up joining the exoticos. This also sounds like a great idea (but only for a moment.)

IWRG's first TV Azteca show will air on 03/08, time TBA.

El Martiente posted a great interview with Solar. I still can not believe he trained Fabian el Gitano. It's inconceivable. Esmas has a transcript of last week's chat with Atlantis. You know, he beat Villano III for his mask due to his winning attitude.

(Reforma via Jazzo) Dark Angel still wants a title match. Rebeldes Tuareg have not yet forgot they're a group, though they can't seem to pick a consistent name.

Dr_landru @ elmartinete posted video of Mistico & Ultimo Guerrero vs Olimpico & Dr. Wagner from Arena Neza.

Tinieblas, Martha Villalobos, Octagon and others will be wrestling as part of a 10 KM race/celebration for Family Day in Mexico City on Sunday.

Box Y Lucha articles
- Cibernetico's physical wounds are healed, but the wounds to his pride are still there. I can't believe I typed that.
- Decnnis and Scorpio talk about their Rey de Reyes chances.
- Various Perros del Mal members blame all the problems on Hector Garza.
- in celebrating Flag Day (last Sunday) various luchadors talk about representing Mexico overseas. Skip the Joe Lider part, for your own sanity.

February 25, 2008

M3 (SAT) 02/23 Palenque de Parque Morelos [d3v1lb0y @ box y lucha, aledesp @ Satanico's Mansion]
1) Extasis b Yorel, Supremo Jr., Silver Star, Mr. Maldito, Black Spider, Extreme Kid, Animaniac, Colibri, Star Boy [WWA AIRE]
2) La Mascara, Rubi Gardenia, Super Astro b Angel Blanco Jr., Arandu, TJ Boy
3) Tarzan Boy b El Dandy
4) Averno & Místico b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Nicho el Millionario [ri, losers advance]
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. b Nicho [UWA HEAVY, WWA JH]

No Rayo, so Nicho drops the title he won last Christmas. Lots of ads for the Gladiador energy drinks on the show. This is supposed to make TV, somewhere, sometime. La Mascara filled in for his dad in the trios match.

CMLL (SUN) 02/24 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones]
1) Sombra de Plata & Trueno b Carrona & Cholo
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Loco Max b Ángel Azteca Jr., Fabián el Gitano, Metálico
3) Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Princesa Blanca DQ Amapola, Medussa, Rosa Negra
4) Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible b Blue Panther, Felino, Grey Shadow
5) Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Místico

Ultimo snuck in a low blow on Marco and pinned him, which sets up the revenge match next week (mostly - Panther in for Mistico.) Amapola accidentally hit a referee for a DQ, which seems to be reoccurring. Metalico hurt a shoulder in his loss.

CMLL LLQ (SAT) 02/16 Plaza de Toros Santa Maria [Kal-El @ el Martinete]
1) El Blanco & Fuego Latino b Rey Aztlan & Sindrome
2) Principe Valiente Jr. & Ursus ?? Espiritu Negro & Perro del Ring

6) Blue Panther, Damian 666, Dr. Wagner Jr. b LA Park, Villano IV, Villano V [ri]

Tons of substitutions for the CMLL talent - there may have been only one or two in the multiman match who were scheduled to be there, and Perro and Mistico were supposed to be in the main event. Refunds were offered. Video of the main event at the link.

CMLL (THU) 02/21 Arena Neza [heri99 @ box y lucha]
1) Federale I & Federale II b ? & ??

4) Pequeño Damian 666 b Pierrothito [CMLL MINI]
5) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Negro Casas

Most of this has already been covered. In the segunda, Super Comando filled into for Rayo I but turned on Rayo II anyway for the DQ.

AAA Fraternidad 2000 (THU) 02/21 Gimnasio del Estadio Carlos Serdan Arechavaleta [escualoasesino @ box y lucha]
1) Black Jack, Blue Angel, Kronos (Veracruz) b Aero Karma, Bat Boy, Jhon Terry

4) Batman, Celestial (Veracruz), El Alebrije b Electro Shock, Monsther, Violencia (Veracruz)
5) Charly Manson, Chessman, Elegido DQ Abismo Negro, Psicosis II, Zorro

La Parka Jr. was supposed to be in the main event, but only appeared and had Elegido take his place.

GALLI (FRI) 02/22 Ramada Inn Ballroom, Glendale Heights, IL [me, GALLI]
1) Negrotistico b Joey Marx
2) Meteoro 1 & Meteoro 2 b Chilango & Funebre

Coco Liso may be my new favorite wrestler. Next show on 03/09.

LLII (SUN) 02/24 Show Palace, Oceanside, CA [SoCal Uncensored, mikeinformer]
1) Rene Mendoza b Locura
2) Dragon & Karma b Faraon & Mexus
3) Magno & Tony Cassanova b Maquiavelico & Super Jungla
4) Angel (California), Mini Spark, Socal Crazy b Conde Jr., Matt Twisted, Mini Psicosis

1) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Stuka Jr., Valiente [MEX TRIOS]

Latin Lover wrestles next on 03/15 in Reynosa.

Anyone know what the deal is with "Lobo Salvaje vs Amenaza Roja for the National Cruiserweight Title. Looks like it was posted on El Martinete originally (but probably in the video section I don't have access too), and I don't actually see the belt in the videos.

February 24, 2008

CMLL officially announced the March Dos Leyendas is honoring Black Shadow along with Salvador Luttertoh as usual.

Arturo Rivera is down on everything this week.

That should be self explanatory.

CMLL FSE on Guerreros del Ring #079
02/03 Coliseo: Luna Magica, Marcela, Princesa Blanca b Amapola, Medussa, Rosa Negra
02/03 Coliseo: Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Trueno b Damián 666, Misterioso II, Texano Jr.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 02/28 Arena Naucalpan
1) Ambar vs Comando Gama
2) Avsiman, Chico Che, Soberano vs Guerrero Inca, Trauma I, Trauma II
3) Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Ultramán Jr. vs el Hijo del Pierroth, Mr. Matanza, Veneno
4) Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Septiembre Negro II vs El Fantasma, el Hijo Del Anibal, Negro Navarro
5) Black Terry vs Multifacético [IWRG IC WELTER]

Multifacético's big push probably continues, and Black Terry can get back to the business of feuding with Fantasma de la Opera

CMLL (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo
1) Dr. X, Hooligan, Skandalo vs Sensei, Sombra de Plata, Trueno
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, La Nazi, Rosa Negra

4) Máximo, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Lizmark Jr., Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone

Lady Apache's return from injury. Seems like a more full card than usual, with the novatos bumped.

IWRG (SUN) 03/02 Arena Naucalpan
1) Bacteria vs Judas el Traidor
2) Ambar & Star Boy vs Trauma I & Trauma II
3) Angel de Oro, Freelance, Soberano vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Bogeman, Multifacético, Zatura vs Black Terry, El Hijo del Diablo, el Hijo del Pierroth
5) El Hijo del Solitario, Tarzan Boy, Ultramán Jr. vs Cien Caras Jr., Enterrador 2000, Pierroth II

Tarzan is starting here with this show, and under that old name.

IWRG (WED) 03/05 Roots Magic Club
1) Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Multifacético vs Black Terry, Trauma I, Trauma II
2) Mascarita Sagrada (original), Skaide, Voladorcito vs Bracito de Plata, Katito Kung Lee, Pentagoncito
3) el Hijo Del Anibal, Groon XXX, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs ?, Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

This is the first TV Azteca taping, so I guess the idea is to load up on names. Who would it have to be in that mystery spot to make that match any good? It's just not possible. SuperLuchas says Mascara Ano 2000 is headed in, which obviously makes sense there. Canek should be back around here at any time too. I think that's a mini Skayde!

Previous: 02/01 (Puebla, 2), 02/10 (Ixtapaluca), 02/15 (Queretaro)

Projected Air Date (#825)
Mexico: 03/02/08
US: 03/22/08

(winning captains are in bold.)

Abismo Negro's undefined status was the big story of the night. Tough to predict, seeing as he wasn't on the card but ended up subbing for X-Pac. Last taping, Konnan (absent as well) gave Abismo as much time as he wanted to make a decision on joining the legion, but Zorro is apparently in more of a hurry and requested one tonight. Abismo helped the Legion win the fourth match, which the Legion paid back by stopping the Vipers from jumping Abismo, but Abismo turned down membership before the main event. Not sure if he's going to create his own group (dueling Viper factions would not be new) or going tecnico.

Legion still won the main event easily. Zorro continues to get wins, seemingly much after it mattered (and only until the top guys come back and he's used to put them over again.) Zorro touched all six sides to win the chain match, and powerbombed Charly Manson thru a table after the match. Charly was carried to the back. This is payback for Cibernetico returning last week and beating up the Legion, coming on people who are not actually Cibernetico.

The show did deliver the questionable captains I hoped for. Of those three in the semimain, Mascara Divina seems like the least likely guy. (Tiger climbed partially up a light tower and dived off onto Alebrije.) Head Hunter I makes even less sense, and I guess they're just planing to get Abismo in the tournament another way. He's clearly going to be involved in something major on the show. As suspected, Pirata Morgan was inserted in the opener to provide a more 'credible' entrant (though he's just as likely to be eliminated quickly as the other guys.)

In the main event, tecnicos took the first fall by DQ (excessive violence) and the second fall via Hector foul on Perro after Volador and Sombra dives. Perros beat up Hector after the match.

Alex was hurt after a powerbomb in the third fall of his loss.

Show does not sound particularly exciting.

An experiment! Rather than all the Friday night "trying to listen to the radio feed (if it's working)" and Saturday morning "results/lineups" ending up on my FSE recap below, this post is for any misc comments until Saturday morning's news posts. If I can grab on to some wireless internet at the GALLI show, I may turn up in the comments.

(Reforma/Jazzo) Mini Damian retained his minis title over Mini Pierroth in Arena Neza last night. Pierrothitho had Damian pinned for three, but Halloween interrupted the count. Violencia jumped on the apron to argue, the ref busied himself with the wrong man, and Halloween snuck in and reversed the pin for the win. The two teams agreed to a mask/hair vs hair/hair match next week.

Tonight's show

CMLL (FRI) 02/22 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Tzuki vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia
3) Alex Koslov, Máximo, Negro Casas vs Lizmark Jr., Misterioso II, Universo 2000
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Valiente
5) Héctor Garza, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Besides the usual preview, Ovaciones covers Hijo de Pierroth's name change to Pierko el Boricua (which has made many of the magazines this week.) Once again, he talks highly of Pierroth and hopes he gets well soon.

The focus is on Hector Garza's return to the tecnico side. It's been a very long time since he's been one in CMLL. Dr. Wagner Jr. returns to face the Guerreros. Would you believe it's only the third time they've done that opener in Arena Mexico? (Teams are tied 1-1.)

In ESTO, Hector Garza is unsure if the fans or his partners will accept him as a tecnico. He'll be partially relieved if he picks up Reforma, where Volador and Sombra are willing to forget all Garza did on the rudo side.

Heavy Metal plans to have a Lucha Libre/Rock Concert to celebrate his 20th anniversary of wrestling, but he has no idea when he's going to do it. ESTO also has a preview of tomorrow's AAA taping in Minatitlan and writes about NWA Mexico, but there's nothing new in either one.

CMLL (MON) 02/25 Arena Puebla
1) Toro Bill & Toro Bill Jr. vs Aguila Guerrera & Fuerza Chicana
2) Black Tiger (Puebla), King Jaguar, Lestat vs Kraken, Siki Osama Jr., Veneno
3) Astro Boy, Máximo, Stuka Jr. vs Diamante Negro, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Volador Jr. vs Texano Jr., Villano IV, Villano V
5) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Mr. Reyes posted photso from last night's IWRG show.

Madero area wrestler Oro Negro nearly fell on his head at a match. Pictures of the aftermath look scary, but they found no break in the neck or spine.

Terrible says he celebrates his 10th anniversary of wrestling today. Wiki has him as 13 - typo?

Got my first DailyMotion takedown notice today! Mistico/Wagner Part 1 (posted 7 months ago) is no longer available, but part 2 still seems to be up. Maybe there was an ad left in and a (new) automatic filter caught it? Quite odd.

I believe I will be making it to the GALLI show tonight after all. If you're going to the Glendale Heights show, say hi.

February 21, 2008

I'd like to do regular 'what I'm working on that's not news' post every so often, just to let everyone know what's actually being worked on and what I could use some help with. (And so I can remember what I was trying to do two days ago.) We'll see how this goes.

What's going on:

- Changed the name from CMLLBlog.com to LuchaBlog.com. Still lacking in creativity, but that's nothing new. At least no one can wonder why I write so much about AAA, except for all the normal reasons. (All your old links will continue to work.)

(this gets long and list-y; you've been warned)

taped 01/27, aired on 02/17

If Ultimo Guerrero is now Satanico, and Averno is now Ultimo Guerrero, I think that means Sangre Azteca is now Averno. I haven't figured out who's the young Sangre Azteca yet; I figure Euforia's more Rencor Latino at this point.

These shows could really use an feud of some kind.

taped 02/08, 02/10, aired 02/16

http://www.sendspace.com/file/9320mi

Given the lack of depth in tecnicas, I'm all for giving Goddess some more chances. Sadly, this was not the best of debuts. If she gets any better, she still might be the third best healthy tecnica they've got. Goddess has to get new gear first; it doesn't matter if she was wearing it before Sexi Star, it's not a good idea to present yourself as a clone.

I liked this week's rudo disintegration better than last week's. Would not have guessed there'd be so many dives in the match, and none by Mistico (during the match.)

February 21, 2008

taped 01/20, aired 02/15

http://www.sendspace.com/file/cmk37j

Opener wasn't actively bad, but it wasn't more than below average. The tecnicos making Super Nova's cameo as a rudo very tough was amusing, but I don't Super Nova's as ready as I thought he was the first time I saw him. I'm not just judging him on this match, which would be totally unfair, but he's not been in the right place at the right time a few times recently.

re Henrik: Neutron was barely in this match.

Main event was what I should've expected it to be, but not what I hoped it'd be. The moonsault side slam tricked me into thinking they might have worked at a faster pace, but this was usual Perro move stare move. I often feel like I'm holding Perro (and Los Perros) to unfair requirements, because what they're doing (and not doing) gets them over with the live crowd. Getting over to me is not the point, and this match didn't either.

This is also one of those matches where I can not comprehend why anyone would suggest Perro go to WWE. He's a charismatic dude, but he's seemed to always work in front of crowd who know him and know his family and he's able to work off of that. It's a smart way to do it, but it wouldn't be that way in the WWE. He's d have to get over as a (mostly) unknown, and work very hard for the fans (and the company) to care about him. That's a much rougher deal.

(Ovaciones, mediotiempo, Reforma/Jazzo) The NWA held a press conference yesterday to announce it's return to Mexico. Blue Demon Jr. was appointed as chairman, and Rambo was announced as official trainer for a school they plan on opening. Robert K. Trobich and David Marquez were there representing the NWA.

- First event may be in late March/early April according to ovaciones, late April/early May according to MT.
- They plan on running in Guadalajara (no arena mentioned), Monterrey (La Nueva Arena Santa Lucia), and Mexico City (the old Gimnasio Juan de la Barera) every two weeks
- Shows will have a lot more singles matches and one fall, with multiman matches reserved or the main event.
- They still want a work out a deal with CMLL, to get talent and the current NWA champions (Atlantis, Averno, Sombra) or at least get the titles back. It sounds like they would like to ditch those three titles (all of which have been around 50 years and held by important people in Mexico) because they feel it diminishes the belts they do promote. At the same time, Demon mentions creating new national titles, so they would be getting rid of belts with lots of history and creating new pointless belts. I hope I'm misunderstanding this, because that sounds so dumb.

Until they announce a card or a deal with CMLL (or someone to provide talent), it's still probably not work talking much about. I'm skeptical, but then I'm always skeptical so that's not a fair gauge. There has to be a lot of set up and organization done, and it's tough to tell from press conferences how much is in place.

Ovaciones mentions IWRG has signed a TV deal with TV Azteca. They'll start on the channel 03/05, and it sounds like the shows will be all events taped away from Arena Naucalpan. They've got 10 shows scheduled. Not sure if this is going to make the US (on Azteca America), but it's something to check for.

Box Y Lucha has added blogs to their website. Actually, they seem to be calling them blogs but they're just five column articles in practice (or I can't find a page that lists them all in some sort of order, or an RSS feed to do the same.) More content is always good, however it's presented. Today, we've got stories about Vampiro being mobbed for autographs during the height of his popularity, interviewing India Sioux, seeing Santo live for the first time, a 70 year old man who never missed a show at Arena Coliseo (except for a couple years during World War II.

AULL (SAT) 02/16 Arena Lopez Mateos [the Gladiatores]
1) Angel de Plata b Tormento
2) Drimen & Rey Cristal b Blasfemia & Hombre de Guerra
3) Epidemia, Robin Maravilla, Yakuza b Dr. Muerte, Heavy Boy, Ice Killer
4) Rey Krimen, Rocky Santana, Sadico, Sepulturero I b Cerebro Maligno, Epitafio, Herejia, Judas el Traidor
5) La Sombra, Sagrado, Último Vampiro DQ Averno, Ephesto, Ultimo Gladiador

Weird to have a CMLL/AAA teamup there. Gladiador yanked Vampiro's mask for the DQ. Everyone turned on Judas el Tradior in the semimain.

CMLL (SUN) 02/17 Arena Neza [the Gladiatores]
1) Dr. Trauma & Torbellino Negro b Pachuco & Tormenta de Acero
2) Insecto & Rey Neza DRAW Hijo del Mohicano & Tony Cirio
3) Mohicano I & Mohicano II b Marco Rivera & Rayo Tapatío II
4) Hiroka & Mima Shimoda b Luna Mágica & Marcela
5) Atlantis & Último Guerrero b Marco Corelone & Negro Casas

Guerreros won the main with a double suplex on Corelone. Hiroka pinned Marcela to win the women's match, which sets up the title match for this week. Hiroka should probably not wear the Japanese flag when she's challenging for the Mexican title. Rey Neza and Tony Cirio pinned each other for the draw.

IWRG (SUN) 02/17 Arena Naucalpan [the Gladiatores]
1) Angel de Oro & Soberano b Guerrero Inca & Semental
2) Trauma I & Trauma II b Avisman & Star Boy
3) Coco Verde, Cocolores, Freelance b Cerebro Negro, Mr. Muerte, Veneno
4) Bogeman, Pantera, Ultraman Jr. b Black Fish, Black Terry, Chiborra
5) Multifacético DQ Kaminari [hair]

Kaminari actually pinned Multifaetico in the third fall for the win, but he got there via some Black Terry interference and the ref changed the decision to a DQ.

Shocker's asked AAA to stop using the Guapo group name, Los Guapos told Luchas 2000, "No." Fair enough! They've also got Blue Demon Jr. vs the son of Blue Demon.

February 20, 2008

box

AAA US: Legion vs Hell Brothers vs Sect in a triangle tag match in the main event.

FSE US: only one airing, should be a women's trios and Alex/Dos/Trueno vs Perros/Misterioso.

CAN52: Main Event Leono seems like a sure bet. I'm guessing the minis match from last Friday makes air, though I really don't know.

---------

AAA MEX: first Rey de Reyes qualifier, Abismo vs Mr. Niebla one more time

CMLL: 1:45 according to the website, so top 3.

FSE-MEX: Guessing women's trios match and a Valiente appearance

CadenaTres: Minis, fun undercard tecnicos, trios champs and Mistico in the main event. Seems like it should be fun.

CMLL (FRI) 02/22 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Tzuki vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia
3) Alex Koslov, Máximo, Negro Casas vs Lizmark Jr., Misterioso II, Universo 2000
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Valiente
5) Héctor Garza, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Shocker out, Volador in. Shocker missed Monday's show in Puebla, so something's up here.

Second straight week Volador Jr. walked into a better spot. It's nice for him.

(terceracuerda @ box y lucha) Blue Demon Jr. is scheduled to announce NWA Mexico today.

AAA (MON) 02/18 Domo de la Feria de Leon [AM.Com.Mx]
1) Fuerza K9, Krimen, Skud b Apolo Star, Cenella Inca, Kukukklan
2) Jesse, Nygma, Yuriko b Dragon Fly, El Angel, Zinder
3) La Parkita & Octagoncito b Mini Abismo Negro & Mini Chessman
4) Gran Apache, Mari Apache, Polvo de Esterllas b Casandro, Martha Villalobos, Rey Cometa
5) Abismo Negro, Pirata Morgan, Scorpio Jr. b Alan Stone, Gronda II, Octagón

Pirata snuck in a foul on Gronda.

CMLL (MON) 02/18 Arena Puebla [hugo999 @ box y lucha]
1) Blue Center & SWAT b Mr. Rafaga & Zigma
2) Furia Chicana, Negro Navarro, Veneno b Asturiano, Centella de Oro, Tigre Rojo
3) Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki, Último Dragoncito b Halloween, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. b La Máscara, Máscara Púrpura, Valiente [MEX TRIOS]
5) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Texano Jr. b Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr.

Champs retain, and the match was said to be superb. Texano Jr. either fouled Wagner or faked a foul in the main event. Next week has Guerreros vs Nuevo Perros.

CMLL (TUE) 02/19 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Sensei & Trueno b Angel Perverso & Ciber Black
2) Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito b Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito
3) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. ?? Loco Max, Nitro, Skandalo
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. b Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
5) La Máscara, Marco Corelone, Místico b Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca

CMLL posted the results for the minis match twice instead of the tercera. Trios champs won in the third fall with everyone doing a move from the same corner at the same time, same as Puebla.

CMLL (TUE) 02/19 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll]
1) Azazel b Golden
2) Fraile de la Muerte b Virgo
3) Destroyer DQ Lider
4) Metal Blanco b Mr. Trueno
5) Casanova b Toxico
6) Gallo DQ Cien Caras Jr.
7) Tony Rivera L Malefico, Leono, Leon Blanco, Texano Jr., Alex Koslov, Infierno, Máscara Mágica [cage, hair, mask]

Texano Jr. brought his bullwhip into the cage, used it on the tecnicos, tied them all together, and the rudos all left the cage. Sadly, they left in two minutes, and escapes weren't allowed until seven minutes. Fine plan though. Tecncios made sure to use the rope on Texano. Once the seven minutes were up, escapes went Leono, Leon Blanco (who teased a top rope dive but just left), Mascara Magica, Inferino, Alex Koslov (who attacked Tony Rivera on his way out) and Texano Jr. (who abandoned Malefico.) Malefico powerbombed Tony and pinned him for the upset.

Cien Caras Jr. fouled Gallo and yanked the mask. Ref caught both.

CMLL (SUN) 02/24 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar vs Azazel
2) Thunder Boy vs Virgo
3) Nube Roja & Oro II vs Fraile de la Muerte & Guero Loco
4) Leon Blanco, Metalik, Súper Nova vs Diamante Negro, Máscara Mágica, Texano Jr.
5) Misterioso II vs el Gallo [OCCCIDENTE LH]
6) Heavy Metal, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Title change? I'd think so.

CMLL (TUE) 02/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Milenio
2) Idolo vs Danger (Guadalajara)
3) Silueta vs Atena
4) Casanova vs Super Maquina
5) Lider vs Destroer (Guadalajara)
6) Magnum & Súper Nova vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
7) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Último Dragón vs Damián 666, Euforia, Texano Jr.

(Reforma/Jazzo)) Mini Damian and Pierrothito had a press conference to talk up their title match tomorrow in Neza. Damian plans on winning the title, then taking Pierrothito's mask, then forcing him out of wrestling and into a career of selling tacos and juice. Now that's a man with a plan.

Meanwhile, Hector Garza wants revenge. It's still all Averno & Mephisto's fault.

WWA (SAT) 02/23 Palenque de Parque Morelos [LIDER_TJ @ Satanico's Mansion & olimpiko89 @ box y lucha]
1) Extasis vs Yorel, Supremo Jr., Silver Star, Mr. Maldito, Black Spider, Extreme Kid, Animaniac, Colibri, Star Boy [WWA AIRE]
2) Brazo de Oro, Rubi Gardenia, Super Astro vs Angel Blanco Jr., Arandu, TJ Boy
3) Tarzan Boy vs El Dandy
4) Averno & Místico vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. [ri, losers advance]
5) ? vs ? [CMLL WELTER, CMLL MIDDLE, UWA HEAVY, WWA HEAVY]

The losing tag team meets in a title versus a title match. Being this is a WWA show, I'm guessing it's Rayo vs Doc, but when it turns into vanity title versus vanity title, I have no idea how they book their way out of it. I'm guessing Dr. Wagner wins.

AAA (FRI) 03/07 Salon Medina, Campeche [EspirituMaya @ el Martiente]
1) Angel Apocaliptico & Espiritu Maya vs Apolo Sureno Jr. & Mamba
2) Pasion Cristal & Pimpinela Escarlata vs Gatubela & Yuriko
3) Billy Boy & Fabi Apache vs Gran Apache & Mari Apache
4) Cibernetico & El Alebrije vs Mesias & Zorro

First match back for Mesias that I know of.

The main event of Rey de Reyes, as currently advertised, is going to be a match between

- one man who will be appearing on the televisions shows but not wrestling
- one man who will not even be appearing on the television show

This is the dumbest thing ever. They can't even 'fix' it by having both work on the 03/09 taping, because it won't air till a week after Rey de Reyes takes place. There are so many problems here

* How dumb was it to have Mesias retain the title at Guerra de Titanes? Not as dumb as to put Cibernetico thru a flaming table! My best guess is they planned to have Cibernetico run thru guys to get revenge before getting to Mesias, while he was in TNA. Of course, Mesias' beatdown on the December taping doesn't work with any of that.

* Why start to turn Mesias tecnico before Cibernetico got his revenge on him? Apparently the revenge isn't all that important.

* Why not just reintroduce both guys at Rey de Reyes and do the title match sometime after? If the Rey de Reyes concept is a draw, and if Big Foreign Stars are a draw (and AAA appears to believe both of these things), you really shouldn't need the title match. You could just slide both men into ? spots in the atomico match and use that to start making the title match seem more important than something randomly thrown in.

The actual answer is either
- They're not confident Mesias will be around a lot
- They're in a desperate hurry to turn Mesias tecnico (and team with Cibernetico and/or La Parka Jr. to fight the Legion) and clearing the deck to make it happen ASAP. Which would be a strange priority order

None of this makes much sense.

GALLI's running a bonus show on the 02/22 at the Glendale Heights Ramada Inn. There March show still sounds on, and I don't know if they wanted to try out the venue first or if they just felt like running another show.

GALLI (FRI) 02/22 Ramada Inn, Glendale Heights, IL [Chicago Pro Wrestling]
1) Joey Marx vs Negrotistico
2) Aguila Tapatia Jr. & Galactico vs El Chilango & El Funebre
3) Blade & Centella de Oro vs Resistencia & Venganza
4) Discovery & El Tigre vs Demencia & Guerrillero
5) Charly Manson Jr., Samuary, Slayer vs Coco Negro Chicago, Coco Verde Chicago, Gringo Loco

Doors open at 6:30, bell time is scheduled at 7:30. Tickets are $20 for ringside, $15 for GA, and $10 for kid. If you print off the flyer at the link, you get a kid (under 10) ticket free for one adult ticket.

Main event looks like it could be pretty fun. I think the guys in the opener are the guys who worked last weke's opener.

On Saturday, FMLL is back in Congress with a, uh, experienced main event.

FMLL (SAT) 02/23 Congress Theater [Chicago Pro Wrestling]
1) Angel de la Muerte & Bazooka vs Impacto & Pepe el Suavecito
2) Silueta Azul vs Tigre Oriental
3) Mascarita Sagrada vs Guerrerito del Futuro [? MINI]
4) Sicodélico Jr. & Slayer vs Aguila del America & Lucifer
5) Mil Mascaras & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Emilio Charles Jr. & Hijo del Cien Caras

Show lists 6 PM, which could be the time the doors open, or the bell time, or just a time that happened to be on the flyer. No ticket price is listed. The same crew works in California on Sunday.

You never quite know which Mascarita Sagrada you're getting at any day. I kinda hope it's Dorada, and he's defending a Mexican National Championship in Mexico, but I don't know it to be true and I'd actually presume it's the original.

I'd like to go to the Friday show, but won't know if I can till a few hours before. The minis singles match should be good, but I think I'm going to be doing non-lucha stuff on Saturday, and a long cold trip gets colder and longer when you're paying to see Mil Mascaras. I'm sure I'm not going to both.

If YOU are going to either, let me know how the shows go. (Same thing with any other lucha show you might go to.)

Arturo Rivera heard the Heavy Metal to AAA rumor about two weeks after everyone else and also throws out a Latin Lover to CMLL rumor.

Ovaciones says Multifacetico did defeat Kaminari for his hair on Sunday, and Rayo de Jalisco did not lose the WWA Heavyweight championship on Saturday.

5) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs LA Park vs Héctor Garza vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo

February 18, 2008

taped 01/13, aired 02/10

Unfortunately boring show. Triad of Terror didn't look especially strong, despite controlling or winning all the falls. I'm not going to miss them teaming up with Ephesto. He seemed to gel better with the other two early on than at the end.

Main event was, in fact, a Perros match. They're building towards Volador/Perro fine, though it was very odd how this was the one week where the post match promos would've worked well (since they had an actual match they could actually agree on and would actually occur shortly after), and so nothing was said. Bad episodic television there.

This is not a complete lineup. Obviously there are tons of question marks to fill in, but maybe there's another match. That may be tough with half the regular roster in one match.

(edit: lineup updated 03/10; based on lineup on company website)

AAA TV (SUN) 03/16 Plaza de Toros Monumental, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon [Marco Rivera @ box y lucha]

US: 04/19, 04/26

03/10 edit

That's the complete lineup. There's no mention of money being on the line in the ladder match, but something out to be. The atomicos is billed as Mexico vs the US. Did Electro and Kenzo get citizenship? (Not that quick!)

02/18 edit

As mentioned previously, Decnnis and Scorpio are locked in the tournament, and I think the other names are based on the poster, but they surely could change between now and then. The ladder match lineup is more definite.

Teddy Hart and Scott Steiner are back, because the promotion liked how each guy did last time. This should be Killings farewell. They're probably still negotiating with ex-WWE people for those spots (on both sides.)

Unless there's a surprise on the 03/09 taping, it doesn't seem like Mesias is going to be on TV at all before this title match. Odd build.

Announced Future Tapings
- none, but I'm sure some will get announced by time we get here.

CMLL (THU) 02/07 Arena Neza [the gladiatores]
1) Astro Boy b Dr. X
2) Trueno b Ramstein
3) Pequeño Damian 666 & Pierrothito b Bam Bam and Tzuki and Fantasy and Shockercito and Electrico and Ultimo Dragoncito and Pequeño Halloween and Mr. Aguilita and Pequeño Violencia and Pequeno Universo 2000 [ciber]
4) Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Universo 2000 DQ Héctor Garza, Terrible, Zayco

The minis cibernetico is old news by now, but Zayco in the main event gets special attention. Damian was apparently running late, because he ran in during the match for the DQ.

PROLLM (SUN) 02/10 Coliseo Coacalco [SuperLuchas #251]
1) Forastero & Stigma b John Taylor & Lobo Metalico
2) Alarido Nocturno & Storm b Eterno & Terrorista
3) Hanaoka, Satoshi, Suzuki b Ave Nocturna, Huizar, Yakuza
4) Magnifico, Negro Navarro, Último Vampiro b Tony Rivera, Valiente, Yakuza

Main event was said to be great, but I'm fascinated by "John Taylor." Doesn't it have to be a Canadian or an American who traveled for lucha libre and ended up working the opener for Coliseo Coacalco? Someone has a story to tell.

CMLL (THU) 02/14 Arena Neza [Heri 99 @ el Maritnete , KrisZ
1) Angel de la Noche & Dark Devil b Black Lancer & Crismar
2) Hombre Bala Jr. & Rayo Tapatío II b Pólvora & Vaquero
3) Calígula & Méssala b Artillero & Súper Comando
4) Pequeno Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito DQ Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween
5) Alex Koslov, Rayo Tapatio I, Shocker b Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca

I think Mini Perros got DQed for excessive violenice. Reforma quotes the minis about the developing Mini Damian vs Mini Pierroth feud, which should lead to a title match any second now. Check the lineusp for more.

CMLL (FRI) 02/15 Poza York, Veracruz [rabano enmascarado @ el martiente]
1) Lee Panther & Muerte Nocturna b Magneto & Piloto Infernal
2) Byron Temerario & Dr. Cerebro b Piloto Suicida (Veracruz) & Serval
3) Luna Mágica & Marcela b Amapola & Hiroka
4) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Felino DQ Ephesto & Último Guerrero

Ultimo got DQed for a foul in the main event. Not a good weekend for Ultimo.

CMLL VIP (SAT) 02/16 Arena Solidaridad [RFC]
1) Apolo Estrada Jr. & Black Diamond b Dralion & Morvius
2) Corazón de Barrio & Hijo de Trueno b Androide & Pancho Tequila
3) Princesa Sujei b Sahori
4) La Máscara, Silver Star, Valiente b Black Warrior, Sangre Azteca, Texano Jr.
5) Atlantis, Nicho el Millionario, Último Guerrero b Alex Koslov, Negro Casas, Shocker

Nicho showed! Yay. 600 attendance. Shocker did show up here, and a lot of the crew worked the day before in Nuevo Laredo. So maybe he just has a thing about working Arena Coliseo.

AAA (SUN) 02/17 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Iron Extreme b Invasor
2) Animaniac & Euforia b Dorado Jr. & Virtual X
3) Estrellita & Rossy Moreno b La Bandida, La Hechizera
4) Antifaz del Norte, Histeria, Psicosis II b Billy Boy, La Momia, Sangre Chicana
5) Extreme Tiger, Halloween, Zorro b El Elegido, Pimpinela Escarlata, Super Porky

What an odd semimain tecnico trio.

CMLL (SAT) 02/16 Gimnasio Estatal Ninos Heroes [CORA_an @ Satanico's mansion]
1) Kit Relampago, Pancho Pistolas, Vaquero (local) b Indomable, Rayo de Plata, Super Sonic
2) Chupacabras & Saddam Hussein b Maracame & Sobra
3) Black Diablo, Diablo Sadiel, Enviado del Diablo b Chavo Santana, Fuerza Negra, Loco Gonzalez
4) Cien Caras Jr., Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Universo 2000 b Angel Blanco Jr., el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza

Hector and Perro did not get along. Saddam Hussein?

CMLL (SUN) 02/17 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [mediotiempo, cmll]
1) Thunder Boy b Milenio
2) Ebola b Mr. Trueno
3) Metatron & Nube Roja b Depredador & Exterminador
4) Gallo, Metalik, Tony Rivera b Diamante Negro, Misterioso II, Rey Trueno
5) Angel Blanco Jr. b Máximo [WWA MIDDLE]
6) Dos Caras Jr., La Máscara, Sagrado b Cien Caras Jr., Mephisto, Universo 2000

Title match had a clean finish. Maximo gave Angel Blanco Jr. credit for winning after. Dos pinning Cien clean. Gallo pinned Misterioso and demanded a shot at his title. That figures. It'll happen next week.

SuperLuchas Graphico #27 has a lot of good features, including some neat Andre the Giant photos. The 251th edition of the weekly magazine has an interview with Rey Misterio (check out the next paragraph) and with Hijo de Pierroth (who's changing his name to Pierko el Boricua.)

Mural (via Jazzo) has excerpts from the interview in Super Luchas with Rey Misterio Jr.. Misterio notes that Tiger Mask pioneered the 619, but he feels like he's innovated it something his own. Misterio's concerned Mistico's similar eye contacts, crosses and moves make him less unique, but they're two different wrestlers. Rey also says he'd tell WWE to sign Perro Aguayo Jr. today if he spoke English. Rey's not going to last forever, and maybe not much longer, and there's going to be an opportunity for a Mexican wrestler who can speak English well enough to do decent promos - I'd think luchadors with international aspirations would see learning English as an investment. But then I really shouldn't talk here, you don't want to know how many investments I've defaulted on.

Box Y Lucha chats with Super Fly on Tuesday.

A normal article about Ciclon McKey's first mask being created by what became Deportes Martinez also states CMLL has 250 wrestlers (and peculiar notes there are 2 Japanese, 1 Russian and 1 Italian-American.)

Perro Jr. was offended by the latest celebrity wrestling in Monterrey. Perro says no one should be advertised as wrestling if they have not mastered the sport. Too easy. Latin Lover was not quite as offended but still suggests wrestling classes for the celebrity if they plan on doing this often.

Intocable's issues with Poncho de Nigir's dance troop made Ovaciones today.

Articles where lucha libre will be used to keep kids off drugs always make me laugh a little bit.

Lourdes Grobet's lucha libre photos will be exhibited in Montpellier, France until 04/20.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 02/17 Gimnasio Nuevo Leon [RFC]
1) Cowboy Jr., Rey Demono Jr., Simbolo 2000 b Difunto I, Difunto II, Hijo de Espanto II
2) Bengali, Flecha Azul, Sergio Romo Jr. b Gato Volador, Oriental II, Rey Apostol
3) Arkangel de la Muerte, Rey Hechicero, Skandalo b Starman, Súper Nova, Tigre Universitario

Next show here is 03/09.

CMLL (TUE) 02/19 Arena Aficion
1) Samoth vs Aquila
2) Arenita & Platino vs La Chona & Malidto
3) Cerebro Negro & Septiembre Negro vs Black Terry & Radioactivo
4) Enfermero & Negro Navarro vs Coco Verde & Shu el Guerrero
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Loco Max vs LA Park & Mephisto

Never mind! What a couple of odd teams. It's like someone no-showed in advance.

CMLL (THU) 02/21 Arena Neza
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Disturbio & Ramstein
2) Angel Azteca, Flash, Leono vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Caligula, Mesala
3) Pequeño Damian 666 vs Pierrothito [CMLL MINI]
4) Dos Caras Jr., Negro Casas, Shocker vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

SuperLuchas has the correct lineup here. I'm guessing Mini Damian holds onto the title. Has Angel Azteca Jr. progressed to the point where he could do a reasonable singles match with Arkangel on GdR? Not a mask match, just something to do since they're doing nothing else, and to let people know there may be a mask eight years from now. Tuareg could even get a big win out of it. I need to stop typing before I turn this into an Arena Coliseo Tag Team titles pitch.

AULL (SAT) 02/23 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Rey Krystal & Space Warrior vs Pequeno Porro I & Pequeno Porro II
2) Cerebro Maligno, Epitafio, Herejia vs Blasfemia, Chavo Extreme, Judas el Traidor
3) Hijo de Enrique Vera, Psicopata, Yakuza vs Rey Krymen, Sadico, Violento
4) Chuho el Roro, Terry 2000, Último Vampiro vs Rocky Santana, Sepulturero I, Ultimo Gladiador
5) el Hijo Del Anibal, El Hijo del Solitario, Enrique Vera vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, the Killer Jr.

IWRG (SUN) 02/24 Coliseo Coacalco
1) Epidemia, Heavy Boy, Terrorista vs Espartano I, Espartano II, Storm
2) Ave Nocturna, Wizard, Yakuza vs Hanaoka, Satoshi, Suzuki
3) Felino, Kid Tiger, Puma King vs Panterita, Suicida, Último Vampiro
4) Dark Angel & Goddess vs Amapola & La Nazi

CANADA VERSUS MEXICO. Also Japan and Mexico, but been there, done that, will do it again in May. SuperLuchas lists this as an IWRG card, which presents some obvious issues (which will hopefully all be ignored.)

CMLL (SUN) 02/24 Arena Neza
1) Ambar & Super Chiva vs Black Bird & Black Heart
2) Black Bird I & Black Bird II vs Terror Boricua & Teutron
3) Rayo Tapatío I, Starman, Súper Nova vs Calígula, Méssala, Ramstein
4) Marcela vs Hiroka [MEX WOMEN]
5) Místico & Último Guerrero vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Olímpico [pi]

Hiroka might have marryied her way into eligibility. Weird main event.

AAA (SUN) 03/02 Gimnasio Municipal Ciudad Juarez [elcobardeimpostor]
1) Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Rey Cometa vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown
2) Charly Manson vs Electro Shock
3) Cibernetico, El Elegido, Intocable vs Kenzo Suzuki, Ron Killings, Zorro

That singles match should be interesting.

AAA ARJONA (SUN) 03/02 Poliforum Zamna de Merida
1) Argenis & Path Finder II vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan Jr.
2) Alan, Javi, Kevin vs Ángel Mortal, Gallego, Mr. Cóndor
3) Mascara Divina, Mexicano, Oriental vs Extreme Tiger, Halloween, TJ Extreme
4) La Parka Jr., Octagón, Super Porky vs Abismo Negro, Head Hunter I, Konnan

Latin Lover/Blue Demon are working this same arena this week the previous weekend. I wonder who'll draw better.

IWRG (SUN) 02/10 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas #251]
1) Comando Gama & Rey Estreundo b Bacteria & Halcon 2000
2) Avisman & Star Boy b Trauma I & Trauma II
3) Arlequin, Dr. Muerte, Masada b Coco Verde, Cocolores, Freelance
4) Black Terry, Kaminari, Veneno b Multifacético, Negro Navarro, Ultramán Jr.
5) Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b el Hijo Del Anibal & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. [IWRG IC TAG]

The booking fees for CMLL talent is apparently now being used on blades, bandages, and bags of white powder - like the one Hijo de Cien Caras pulled out here, throwing the powder in Rayo's face to take the match. In the semimain, Kaminari (which I've thought was a misspelling of Kalimari and have been correcting it so) yanked Multifacetico's mask for the pin. Challenges were made for a title vs mask vs hair match, with Black Terry supplying the title. That should've gone down last night, though Ovaciones had reported it as straight hair vs mask deal. I'm pretty sure Multifacetico didn't lose either way.

IWRG (THU) 02/14 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas #251]
1) Anubis b Blasfemia
2) Trauma I & Trauma II b Angel de Oro & Soberano
3) Black Terry, Cyborg, Veneno b Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Multifacético
4) El Fantasma, Negro Navarro, Ultraman Jr. DQ Black Fish, Ogun, Septiembre Negro II
5) Hijo del Cien Caras & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Silver King [IWRG IC TAG]

Jr. Capos win again, this time via foul. Reporter Alejandro Islas notes this is the fifth consectuive Thursday show with a foul for the finish of the main event. Semimain also ended with a foul, Black Fish to Ultraman. Black Terry bled an intense amount in his match with Multifacetico.

Haven't seen 02/17 results yet.

IWRG (THU) 02/21 Arena Naucalpan
1) Anubis vs Guerrero Inca
2) Angel de Oro & Chico Che vs Nemesis IWRG & Radioactivo
3) Multifacético vs Black Terry
4) Kalimari, Mr. Matanza, Ogun, Veneno vs Centauro, Fantasma de la Ópera, Freeelance, Negro Navarro
5) Groon XXX, Pantera, Ultraman vs Cien Caras Jr., Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Septiembre Negro II

Just when you thought IWRG main events couldn't get more iffy, GROON. I presume this was set up by Ogun working the main event last week, and I hope both of them working here means they can't work DF any more.

IWRG (SUN) 02/24 Arena Naucalpan
1) Ambar & Anubis vs Comando Gama & Rey Estruendo
2) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II vs Guerrero Inca & Semental
3) Angel de Oro, Freelance, Soberano vs Cerebro Negro, Trauma I, Trauma II
4) Bogeman, Centauro, Filoso IWRG vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) El Hijo del Solitario, Multifacético, Pantera, Ultramán Jr. vs Black Terry, Enterrador 2000, Kalimari, Pierroth II

Haven't seen the Oficials listed as much lately. Not sure if Soberano is Euforia's brother or someone else.

Previous: 02/01 (Puebla, 2), 02/10 (Ixtapaluca), 02/15 (Queretaro)

AAA TV (SAT) 02/23 Centro de Convenciones Minatitlan [triplea.com.mx]
1) Argenis, Chiva Rayada I, Gato Eveready vs Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr. [Rey de Reyes torneo]
2) Aerostar, el Ángel, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Jesse, Nygma, Polvo de Esterllas, Yuriko [Rey de Reyes torneo]
3) Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Super Calo vs Histeria, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis [Rey de Reyes torneo]
4) Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Gladiador vs Electro Shock, Head Hunter I, X-Pac [Rey de Reyes torneo]
5) El Alebrije, Laredo Kid, Mascara Divina vs Extreme Tiger, Halloween, TJ Xtreme [Rey de Reyes torneo]
6) Charly Manson, Chessman, Intocable vs Kenzo Suzuki, Konnan, Zorro [Rey de Reyes torneo, bull terrier] not a cage match

Yes, really. For this taping, the winning captain on each team gets advanced to the Rey de Reyes torneo. Including the opener, so there's a chance for Chiva Rayada I one yet. AAA's website says there will be 16 in the tournament by the time we're done.

2 from Queretaro (Decnnis, Scorpio Jr.)
6 from this taping
4 from Orizaba (noted in box y lucha's lineups)
2 from SLP
2 from Texcoc? Or maybe 4 from SLP.

Anyway, this kinda makes every match on the show more important.

I suspect the 4th and 5th match will be switched by the time this airs.

Upcoming tapings
03/01: Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz
03/05: Gimnasio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi
03/09: Plaza de Toros de Texcoc, Mexico State
03/16: Plaza de Toros Monumental, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon (Rey de Reyes)

CMLL (SUN) 02/17 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones, SickMistico @ box y lucha - photos]
1) Sensei & Trueno b Méssala & Zayco
2) Hooligan, Nitro, Ramstein b Ángel Azteca Jr., Flash, Metálico
3) Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Sahori b Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
4) Ephesto, Olímpico, Satanico b Felino, Máscara Púrpura, Valiente
5) Leono, Marco Corelone, Negro Casas DQ Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero

Leono replaced Shocker. Shocker was booked in three places on the same day, but people he was scheduled to work with made this show (except Texano Jr., who was replaced by Satanico.) If they're going to push Leono, they might as well put him in the main event at some point. Tecnicos won in straight falls, winning the first clean and UG decided just to foul Corelone on Sunday.

CMLL (SUN) 02/24 Arena Coliseo
1) Carrona & Cholo vs Sombra de Plata & Trueno
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Loco Max vs Ángel Azteca Jr., Fabián el Gitano, Metálico
3) Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Princesa Blanca vs Amapola, Medussa, Rosa Negra
4) Blue Panther, Felino, Grey Shadow vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible
5) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Místico vs Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Note that Rocky Romero works Friday and Saturday on ROH, but there's no Sunday show. That's not going to be fun travel. Romero has a tag title match on Saturday, so he could always drop the belt there if he was about to work in Mexico full time. At any rate, that match should make one of the GdR shows.

Big day for Cholo! Whomever that is.

Atlantis hosts a video chat at 4pm today on esmas.

More later.

taped 02/03, aired 02/09

Nothing too notable here. Nice that Hooligan gets a match on TV for the firs time in a while. Crowd was way into the main event. Kinda would make more sense if Atlantis recalled he hated Mephisto a bit sooner, but that's the way it is sometimes.

Gilberto Torres has to be the father of the opening card wrestlers, right?

February 17, 2008

There are results that we'll catch up tomorrow. I've got 4 GdR/FSE recaps done that'll get posted as well, eventually, plus this weekend's AAA and tonight's FSE once I get to 'em. I think I've fixed all the problems with entries giving errors, and I'll be looking for other issues as I can.

Arturo Rivera's column says Grey Shadow has not been getting along with others. He also says Mr. Niebla is bigger with the ladies than Alex Koslov or Marco Corelone, so I don't know if I can trust the man.

Ovaciones confirms Hector Garza is going tecnico, not lone wolf rudo. I don't think that's a surprise. They say the Perro/Hector break reminds them of the Solitario/Angel Blanco split and note that ended up in mask match.

IWRG's added Multifacetico vs Kalmari in mask vs hair match to today's show.

Accion's CMLL highlights were off the main event. Averno & Mephisto wore their new Perros t-shirt thru the match to drive the point home, and Perro destroyed Mistico's mask in one grab. AAA's clips was from the minis match. Odder, Mascarita de la Muerte seemed to be in all the highlights, not that there was a big reason for it. They did show Mini Chessman's turn at the end, not that there was a reason for it.

DeporTV went two hours with no highlights. I think I'm done bothering with that show.

1) Estrellita, Fabi Apache, Sexy Star b Ayako Hamada, La Diabólica, Mari Apache
2) Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz b Aero Star, Gato Eveready, Rey Cometa
3) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b El Alebrije, Mascara Divina, Pimpinela Escarlata
4) Abismo Negro b Mr. Niebla [bull terrier]
5) Electro Shock, Kenzo Suzuki, Zorro b Brazo de Plata, Gronda II, Intocable
6) Decnnis & Scorpio Jr. b Charly Manson & Chessman and Laredo Kid & Octagón and Extreme Tiger & Halloween [cage, Rey de Reyes torneo]

Projected Air Date (#824)
MEX: 02/24
US: 03/15

Decnnis and Scorpio Jr. appeared to be the least likely winners of the opener, so they won. It appears to be "first TEAM to escape" rules. It sounds as though Charly and Chessman had a chance to win the match, but didn't care (again) and sticked around to beat up Halloween and Tiger. Cibernetico joined in after the match, causing Familia de Tijuana to be strechered out. Perhaps Nicho had a point.

Cibernetico did a speech earlier, which could be distilled to "I'm coming back" and "I'm still feuding with Mesias." Yay?

Zorro won clean, AGAIN, this time over Intocable. Psycho Clowns are now listed as 40 wins (some double shots this week?) but surely have to worry about being eclipsed.

Abismo Negro and Mr. Niebla's chain match was a bloody mask ripping affair. Abismo won this time as well, but Prez Roldan one again intruded. This time, he didn't suggest having another match next week, he just declared Mr. Niebla the leader of the match despite losing. There's clearly something not getting across here, because this sounds like the dumbest angle ever with everyone looking worse for being involved. Abismo may be joining the Foreign Legion now.

After Fabi won the opener, pinning Mari despite Gran Apache's interference, Billy Boy brought out flowers and a mariachi band to win her back because of their recent issues. Fabi slapped him, so I guess Billy needs a better idea. Not sure why Billy didn't end up wrestling in the segunda. Espiritu did appear, distracting the referee to set up the finish.

Upcoming tapings
02/23: Centro de Convenciones, Minatitlan, Veracruz - should turn up Monday
03/01: Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz
03/05: Gimnasio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi
03/09: Plaza de Toros de Texcoc, Mexico State
03/16: Plaza de Toros Monumental, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon (Rey de Reyes)

taped 01/06, aired 02/08 (Friday)

There were mentions of Black Warrior not getting along well with Grey Shadow in their matches. It may just be a coincidence, but he seemed to have issues with La Mascara at the end of this match too.

Maximo screwing around with Sangre Azteca was the best part of the show. Main event was usual Perros stuff.

February 16, 2008

CMLL (FRI) 02/15 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, superluchas, ESTO, HesnupiH @ box y lucha]
1) Astro Boy & Metálico b Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Heavy Metal, Máximo, Sagrado b Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
4) Alex Koslov, Grey Shadow, Marco Corelone b Damián 666, Héctor Garza, Terrible
5) Místico, Sombra, Volador Jr. DQ Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

The Perros turned on Garza in the semimain, helping the tecnicos get the win. (Blue Panther replaced Alex.) Garza did come out wearing a Perros shirt, a bad move in retrospect. The Perros in the main event came down and helped beat up Garza, and Mistico and company made the save. In the main event, tecnicos won in straight falls, Volador winning the first clean and Perro yanking Mistico's mask for the second fall. Babe Richard tried to stop the post match attack and got his shirt ripped. Perro Jr. vowed Mistico would lose his mask this year.

CMLL (TUE) 02/19 Arena Mexico
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Angel Perverso & Ciber Black
2) Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito

4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
5) La Máscara, Marco Corelone, Místico vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca

This sure seems like setting up another rematch.

CMLL (FRI) 02/22 Arena Mexico

4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Valiente

Garza starts as a tecnico. Note no Grey Shadow.

It appears everything is working. Sorry about that, totally outside of my control.

CMLL (FRI) 02/15 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Metálico vs Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Heavy Metal, Máximo, Sagrado vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
4) Alex Koslov, Grey Shadow, Marco Corelone vs Damián 666, Héctor Garza, Terrible
5) Místico, Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

(ESTO) Los Perros held a press conference yesterday, to officially bring Averno & Mephisto into the group. Perro Aguayo Jr. talked about their now being 8 members in the group, which clued in everyone that Hector was still considered a member. Perro Jr. said Hector would be forgiven and welcomed back if he could just get along with Averno & Mephisto. Averno & Mephisto agreed (Reforma), saying they'd have no problem with Hector if Hector had no problem with them. Hector did not appear at the press conference, but sent a video message, begging for Perro Aguayo Jr. to forgive him and to kick Averno & Mephisto out before they destroy the group. Los Perros did not seem down with this idea.

ESTO quotes Averno saying the Triad of Terror is dead. Ephesto was NOT invited to be a Perro, but Averno & Mephisto would be fine teaming with him on the odd occasion. Sad for Ephesto - maybe he can go be a Rebelde.

In a separate telephone interview, Hector Garza hoped his friendship with Perro Jr. was more important than Averno & Mephisto joining the group. You know, I may be silly for this, but I believe there actually was a real discussion along the lines of "adding two more people to the Perros makes it way too big and Averno & Mephisto don't fit the look." Both points are definitely arguable.

ESTO also talked to Volador Jr. about being in the main event and teaming up with Mistico. This is actually Volador's first DF match in a month, though he's been working plenty elsewhere.

Alex Koslov also listed as working in Nuevo Laredo tonight. That's a tough double shot. There must've been a wired crossed somewhere.

There's also an AAA taping tonight in Queretaro. Events include Niebla/Abismo (this time with chain), the first leg of the Rey de Reyes torneo, and Cibernetico making a non-wrestling appearance.

indy (SUN) 02/10 Arena Emiliano Zapata [El Luchador #33]

3) Halcon Diabolico I, Halcon Diabolico II, Muralla Sangrienta b Caramelo, Halcón Salvaje, Rey Fenix
4) Cerebro Negro & Mike Segura DQ Dr. Cerebro & Fantasma de la Ópera

Rudos got DQed for excessive violence in the main event. Meteoro Kid is Flecha Verde's son. They're building towrds a Flecha Verde/Billy Robles local title match, only Robles was hurt and Comnado del Aire was his stand in.

The latest edition of the newsletter also features an article about how great Skayde is.

CMLL (SUN) 02/10 Arena Neza [KrisZ]

4) Metalik b Rey Trueno
5) Leon Blanco & Leono b Infierno & Máscara Mágica
6) Alex Koslov & Tony Rivera DQ Malefico & Texano
7) Dr. Wagner Jr. b Black Warrior [UWA HEAVY]

Rudos from the 5th match ran in the 6th to cause the DQ, as set up for the eight way cage match. Black Warrior, never a big guy, isn't close to heavyweight lately. He's looked Sangre Azteca like lately.

In a newspaper interview, Nicho says he'd like to get back into CMLL again. LA Park got him in last time, and they're hoping to do that again. Nicho says he left AAA because he wanted more pay if he was going to do extreme matches. That actually sounds reasonable. Nicho was also unhappy with the people chosen for the Familia group - he wanted larger and more experienced guys than Extreme Tiger. Nicho talks about returning to CMLL as if it's already a fact, so either he's confusingly referring to spots shows or he's announced something before CMLL has.

AAA (WED) 02/13 Polideportivo de la BUAP [morgan_alebrije @ box y lucha]
1) Billy Boy & el Ángel b Gran Apache & Pirata Morgan Jr.
2) Estrellita, Mascarita Sagrada 2007, May Flowers b Fabi Apache, Mini Chessman, Polvo de Esterllas
3) Aero Star & Rey Cometa DQ Extreme Tiger & Halloween
4) Alan Stone, El Alebrije, Octagón b Histeria, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II
5) Electroshock, Kenzo Suzuki, Zorro b Cibernetico, El Elegido, La Parka Jr.

La Parka Jr. was a surprise, he's now even working shows they didn't advertised him on. Electro replaced X-Pac, and Zorro might have hurt his knee. Tiger tossed his mask to Aero Star for the DQ. Sounds like a full hose.

triplea.com.mx hypes Cibernetico's return tomorrow.

Vanguardia writes about the celebrities involved on Tuesday's Arena Coliseo Monterrey. RFC says Ricardo Elizondo, nephew of the ACM promoter, is the new Nuevo Leon Box Y Lucha commissioner.

A two time Police Officer Of The Year has been arrested for exorting money from vendors outside Arena Mexico.

The Dead Sleep Easy, starting Vampiro airs in Toronto this weekend. It's a sequel to Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, which is the best name for a movie ever.

CMLL (THU) 02/14 Arena Isabel de Cuervanaca
1) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Stuka Jr., Valiente
2) Grey Shadow & Místico vs Averno & Último Guerrero

There's another data point. The trios match was a rematch from two weeks ago, where challenges were made for this to be a title match. Not sure if it actually will be, though that seems to be trend.

AAA (SUN) 02/17 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [triplea.com.mx, RFC]
1) Rossy Moreno vs Estrellita vs La Hechizera
2) ?, Billy Boy, Sangre Chicana vs Antifaz del Norte, Histeria, Psicosis II
3) El Elegido, Pimpinela Escarlata, Super Porky vs Extreme Tiger, Halloween, Zorro

CMLL (SUN) 02/17 Gimnasio Nuevo Leon [RFC]
1) Arkangel de la Muerte, Rey Hechicero, Skandalo vs Starman, Súper Nova, Tigre Universitario

CMLL (MON) 02/18 Arena Puebla [cmll]

4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Máscara Púrpura, Valiente [MEX TRIOS]
5) Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Shocker vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Texano Jr.

3 and 4 are matches. Didn't see results from Monday's show, but you can kinda guess how things went.

CMLL (THU) 02/21 Plaza de Toros de Cancun [warriorxtremevip @ box y lucha]

4) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Terrible vs Dr. Wagner Jr., LA Park, Marco Corelone

Maybe they're setting up the MEX Trios match here too. Either I read the opener wrong or it's a women's parajes incredible.

box

Based on the last few weeks and other chatter, it seems like CMLL's divvied up the DF shows, one per network

Tuesday: CadenaTres
Friday: Televisa
Sunday: MVS (FSE/CAN52)
nothing: Azteca

There hasn't been much of one taping showing up on others lately.

FSE-US: Another week of two shows. They do not have a new episode listed for Friday, which will leave this show still one week lagged behind. Still, a little more is better than nothing.

FSE FRIDAY: Volador vs Perro Jr., which I'm really amped to see. I know there's a chance this is nothing more than Perro getting by, but I'm hoping for much better. This is Volador's tenth anniversary match, and maybe the first time he's had a singles main event in this sort of arena. I expect him to be very motivated. If this is what I think it is, I'll probably rip it to DailyMotion over the weekend.

FSE SUNDAY: This is much more normal - 12 guys, all kinda just killing time.

AAA US: Stuff from 2008! Wow. Vipers leadership drama in the main event, Halloween/Chesman in the semimain.

CAN52: not sure how Sunday's getting split up this week, but I'm guessing Super Comando & Astro Boy (and also Mistico, LA Park, and a self destructing rudo team) are on this show.

-----

AAA MEX: Justice denied for Abismo Negro. Zorro wins a match! All sort of craziness from this past weekend's taping.

CMLL MEX: I like the odds of the minis making TV - they're listing 3 hours for this show as I write this. That'd put my theory to the test - if there's no Sunday footage on a three hour show, there's a deal in place.

FSE MEX: 12 guys, all kinda just killing time.

CadenaTres: Someone instead of Pierroth on commentary. Shocker, in action! Infernals destroying people, if not actually winning. Too bad Stuka had to get in their way - if it had been Fabian, Mictlan, and LEONO as the humiliated tecnico trio, it would've been MOTY.

CMLL (TUE) 02/12 Arena Mexico
1) Sombra de Plata & Trueno b Angel Perverso & Ciber Black
2) Godess, Luna Mágica, Sahori b Amapola, La Seductora, Rosa Negra
3) Fabián el Gitano, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. DQ Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
4) Felino, La Máscara, Valiente b Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Shocker b Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible

Tecnicos won the main event clean. Semimain was said to be good. Tecnicos took the tercera in straight falls, Infernales yanking ALL of the tecnicos masks to get the second fall DQ. I guess if you're going to lose, lose with style. Satanico told Reforma (via Jazzo) this outcomes proves the Infernales are "simply better". They're going to ride their rudoness to the top.

indy (TUE) 02/12 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
2) Mini Gato Volador & Mini Tigre Universitario b Mini 5X & Mini Hator
3) Bengaly, Galactar, Titanic b Golden Boy, Rey Demonio Jr., Simbolo
4) Diluvio Negro II & Gitano b Chamaco Becerra & Tiger Universitario
5) 5X, Dama de Hierro, Freedom 3X, Kaoma Jr., Rey Apostol b Anibal el Vampiro, Ares, Facundo, Vampiro 2008

Notimex writes about Friday's changed lineup without noting it's a new lineup.

CMLL (TUE) 02/19 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Golden vs Azazel
2) Virgo vs Fraile de la Muerte
3) Lider vs Destroyer
4) Metal Blanco vs Mr. Trueno
5) Casanova vs Toxico
6) Gallo vs Cien Caras Jr.
7) Alex Koslov vs Tony Rivera, Leono, Leon Blanco, Texano Jr., Malefico, Infierno, Máscara Mágica [cage, hair, mask]

Unless I'm forgetting something, Leon Blaco seems to be only local tecnico involved. He's a masked guy, so I think he's winning this.

CMLL (SUN) 02/17 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Milenio vs Thunder Boy
2) Ebola vs Danger (Gudalajara)
3) Metatron & Nube Roja vs Depredador & Exterminador
4) Gallo, Metalik, Tony Rivera vs Diamante Negro, Misterioso II, Rey Trueno
5) Angel Blanco Jr. vs Máximo [WWA MIDDLE]
6) Dos Caras Jr., La Máscara, Sagrado vs Cien Caras Jr., Mephisto, Universo 2000

CMLL.com actually lists that as a UWA title match. I don't think anyone should have to remember what title Angel Blanco Jr. has (unless Averno beats him to create his own triple crown.)

February 12, 2008

if this is up right, the upgrade is working. Working for you, anyway, it's all messed up on this side of the interface. Need to refresh or something.

Forgot to include this morning:

- During an online audio interview Juvi said X-Pac had recently tried to commit suicide. PWTorch quotes Sean Waltman (scroll down to Monday's entry) saying he accidentally mixed anti-depressants and alcohol. Either way, WWE extended an offer to pay for rehab for any of it's ex-wrestlers, and X-Pac's taking them up on it right now. I wouldn't expect to see him on upcoming tapings.

- Updated card on CMLL.com

CMLL (FRI) 02/15 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Metálico vs Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Heavy Metal, Máximo, Sagrado vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
4) Alex Koslov, Grey Shadow, Marco Corelone vs Damián 666, Héctor Garza, Terrible
5) Místico, Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Sombra and Grey Shadow swapped spots. Shadow got demoted. There's no explanation given by CMLL, though I guess we've now got a Foreign Tecnico trio.

I dunno it really matters for finishes, because the semimain looks like it's just the Perros turning on Hector again, and Garza figures on determining the main event too.

- This isn't really news, but I notice it comes up in the RSS feeds I check every morning: David Brashear at Inside Pulse sure appears to be just rewording my stuff for his own use. I can usually tell when people do this sort of stuff (though rarely with me), because they report the also report the same errors I report.

I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to be upset about this, and I'm not for some reason. I think it's because I feel like much of what I'm doing is also just rewording stuff written elsewhere (it takes more work when it's another language.) And I think lucha needs more coverage, and if I can't be bothered to do it, someone else might as well do it for me, using me.

The thing is, his report is completely without links - both to me, and to the people I'm linking to who actually wrote the original stuff. Without links, the way David Brashear is writing it currently, it's plagiarism. This isn't the crime of the century, but it's still not the way to go about things, and I hope this message is enough to change things.

As far as 'mainstream wrestling' articles that continually pop up in my lucha RSS feeds, the far more annoying one is 411Mania's weekly Buy or Sell article. Google news pulls it because "BUY or SELL focuses on topics like the U.S. Independent scene, Lucha Libre, Japanese Wrestling and pretty much anything else that isn't mainstream wrestling," is included in every edition. That's actually a neat concept, but the reality is ROH, ROH, ROH, a bit more ROH, other people trying to do their own versions of ROH, more ROH, and occasionally some NOAH or DG when there's some ROH crossover. Slight exaggeration, but I'm pretty sure there's not been any lucha libre.

Maybe they should take lucha libre out of their boilerplate until they're ready to Buy or Sell "AAA really has a plan for this Rey de Reyes tournament." If only there was some sort of ROH/CMLL connection.

Gato Eveready/MT

Ovcaiones previews Tuesday's Coliseo card and other events this week. The also go over the 2/10 AAA results, with not much new info. Arturo Rivera's column also goes over the show, mentioning Laredo Kid got strechered out after his match. Arturo also suggests CMLL find some gear for Goddess that's not a Sexi Star copy and wonders why CMLL brought in American to push hard instead of using one of the many guys on the roster.

Arturo also mentions Nicho is (co-)promoter of this Friday's AAA show in Tijuana.

MedioTiempo also has the same results, but they also have pictures.

IWRG (THU) 02/07 Arena Naucalpan [Estadio, via Adolfo Rivera @ el Martinete]
1) Dr. Wagner Jr., El Fantasma, Silver King b Hijo del Cien Caras, Masada, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

2) Corsario Blanco, Flash (Tampico), Impulso b Arana Maligna I, Arana Maligna II, Pastro Diabolico
3) Billy Boy & La Guerrera b Gran Apache & La Diabólica
4) Antifaz del Norte, Histeria, Psicosis b Black Master, Bulldozer, Okusono
5) Electro Shock & Espíritu b Cibernetico & El Elegido

AAA (SUN) 02/10 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
2) Aguila Extrema, Dranser, Scravos b Kaientai, Lord Byron, Ramses (Monterrey)
3) Rio Bravo & Tito Santana II b Iron & Principe Diamante [AAA NORTH TAG]
4) Virtual X b Euforia (Monterrey) [mask]
5) Argenis, el Ángel, La Momia b Antifaz del Norte, Guerrero Negro Jr., Sangre Chicana

This is the second mask lost for this Euforia in a year.

Reforma (via Jazzo stories)
- Hector Garza says Perro apologized to him after Friday, but is generally confused and it's either him or Averno & Mephisto. Garza thinks adding Averno & Mephisto makes the Perros too much like the Guerreros with too many members. Garza outright suggests him vs Perro in a hair match in March. I think we're either getting that or Averno somehow taking Garza's hair as part of the Year of Averno.
- Blue Panther thinks he's going to win Atlantis' mask this year. It's good to dream. Also, Panther's ignoring Lizmark's rematch challenges - Lizmark had his chance and lost.
- Dr. Wagner is interested to be part of a multiman World Boxing Council (CMB) wrestling championship match on 03/08 in Cancun. This articles suggests either a six way match or (more likely) a trios title of some sort, but the WBC had decided not to do a combo wrestling/boxing event. I'm all sorts of confused. Anyway, Wagner's not actually on the show but kinda campaigning to get tied up with Santo now.

Box Y Lucha #2857 has the Hector/Perro break up.

Site may be down later - I need to upgrade the blog software.

Previous: 01/19 (Guanajuato), 01/26 (Puebla, 1), 02/01 (Puebla, 2)

AAA TV (SUN) 02/10 Plaza de Toros de Ixtapaluca, EdM
0) Billy Boy & Gato Eveready b Alan & Operativo
1) Aero Star, Estrellita, Fabi Apache b Gran Apache, La Diabólica, Mari Apache
2) Mini Charly Manson, Mini Dizzy, Octagoncito b Mascarita de la Muerte, Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Chessman
3) Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Gladiador b Extreme Tiger, Halloween, TJ Extreme
4) Abismo Negro b Mr. Niebla
5) Intocable, Laredo Kid, Octagón DQ Decnnis, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido
6) Kenzo Suzuki, Ron Killings, Zorro b Alan Stone, Charly Manson, El Alebrije

Zorro beat Charly clean. Really, Zorro won a clean match, by submission even. After, Chessman appeared to announce Cibernetico would be appear on the 02/15 show. Good thing Zorro got a win while he still could.

Scorpio yanked Octagon's mask, and Piero caught him and disqualified him for doing so. Piero! Anyway, Octagon and Scorpio are apparently feuding.

Absimo beat Niebla, and Prez Roldan immediatly apppeared to announce that match did not matter at all. Abismo was not pleased. Roldan declared there'd be no new leader of the Vipers until the next taping, where the same two guys meet in a bull terrier match.

Crazy Boy made an appearance for the Mexican Powers match, though he's still recovering. MPs won with some help from Chessman. Meanwhile, Mini Chessman turned on his rudo mini parnters, and hopefully this is the end of him being booked on rudo teams. Not much to note about the mixed match except Fabi pinned Mari, and AAA actually listed (what I presume is) the dark match opener.

Projected Air Date
Mexico: 02/17
US: 03/08

Announced Future Tapings
02/15: Auditorio Jose Maria Artega, Queretaro

2) Dr. X, Hooligan, Súper Comando b Astro Boy, Metálico, Neutrón
3) Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Virus b Fabián el Gitano, Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán
4) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Felino b Black Warrior, Olímpico, Satánico
5) Dos Caras Jr., LA Park, Místico b Averno, Héctor Garza, Mephisto

Rudo main event team failed to get along the whole match, but managed to take it to three falls. Averno & Mephisto beat up Garza after the match until Dos and Mistico made a save. (No LA Park, naturally. He has no friends!) Looks like Garza is going full tecnico rather than an unaligned rudo. He's surely getting killed again on Friday, teaming up with more Perros, and it can't be a coincidence this angle has gone down on the same week the March show was announced.

How long till they vacate the CMLL Trios titles?

Heavy Metal told Reforma (reposted by Jazzo) he has no plans to jump to AAA, and he's happy in CMLL.

Moody Jack Melendez posted on PWRESTLING.com that he's starting with AAA on 02/19, doing creative and production work for them. Sounds like he's already bringing over all his friends from Puerto Rico. Yay for personal agendas.

SuperLuchas interviewed Rey Misterio before the WWE show in Guadalajara, and Rey noted Mistico copies some of his moves, though probably because CMLL wants him to (and they do.) Misterio also suggests Perro Aguayo Jr. is good enough to go the WWE and should already be there, but I have no idea how Perro would actually fit in there. Probably not well.

Latin Lover plans on going to Argentina, but has to get permission from Televisa. They've apparently got him under an exclusive contract, so it's their call. Latin returns to wrestling briefly this weekend and plans to do more TV and wrestling until he'd leave in early March.

Mascara Sagrada has an offical podcast. I have no idea why.

Sky and Orquidea Negra both lost their hair. Valiente must've been thrilled to be teaming with Super Astro

Three kids in Tijuana are wrestling in the street during stop lights for cash.

Only 30 people showed up for a wrestling show in Columbia, so the promoter postponed the show. Excuses given by the promoter include everyone being used to Thursday shows but this was the first Friday show (though mostly they sound completely baffeled.) Promotion waited an hour after bell time to open the door but had everyone from the locker room take pictures and sign autographs for the people who came.

4) Alex Koslov, Máximo, Shocker vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca

Whoever is booking Neza is doing a fantastic job (except they need Fire in Universo's spot - a Pierroth and a Dinamita teaming up? Never!) The Militia vs Romans is literally a dream match. If they were just short on tecnicos this week, they need to be short every week.

4) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Silver King vs Hijo del Cien Caras & Hijo de Máscara Año 2000

It was noted this week on Box Y Lucha Foro, and I'm noticing it now looking at the lineups - CMLL's stopped providing talent to IWRG. Outside of the Villanos and the Wagners (all of which consider themselves as independents and book themselves out), no one has worked the show since the promotion used Santo. That's two less chances for CMLL guys to get booked per week and a long term relationship damaged as part of CMLL's vendetta against Santo. I hope this pays off in some way. Not particularly holding my breath on that.

Anwyay, it looks like the Todos X El Todos guys are helping fill the gap. Black Fish is the former Fishman Jr. who switched to the name at the Santo show.

February 10, 2008

At the last minute, I had a chance to go to the GALLI show after all. So glad it worked out, because this was a pretty fun show and the promotions seems to be pretty well run. Didn't take any notes, so hopefully I'm not messing this up too much. (Assume I'm referring to a local guy in all same name cases, and skip to the ----- if you don't care about Chicago lucha.)

GALLI (SUN) 02/10 Addison Community Center
1) Negrocito Fantastico b White Guy From Iowa
2) ? & El Chilango b Bazooka & Funebre
3) Blade b Resitencia
4) Charly Manson Jr. b Gringo Loco, Guerrillero, Pentagono del Infierno, Slayer, Discovery, Guerrerito del Futuro, El Infernal, el Tiger, Aguila del America, Amenza del Siglo, Golden Star [GALLI, royal rumble]
5) Yakuza b Huracan Ramirez Jr. [IWC]
6) Jerry Lynn & Samuary b Isaias Velazquez & Steve Boz

Two guys who drove in from "Iowa, Illinois" who were added to the show. Perfectly fine indy opening match, and Negrocito was actually fantastic.

We were told Mr. Zeus, Chilango's announced partner, was hurt in training and he was replaced by a man who's name I'm completely blanking out. Again, another okay match.

Announcer explained this match was happening because they'd been partners last show and turned out each other. That's a fine way of making your angles mean something for this show - make sure people are aware that angles from last show meant something and are being followed up on here. Blade, the tecnico, won by countout after an Asai Moonsault to the floor. The crowd was totally okay with a countout finish, but Blade was not for whatever reason, and demanded three falls and demanded a mask match.

They negelcted to explain the rules to the GALLI Title match (new title, no prior champ) before they happened, not just to the fans, but apparently to the wrestlers and referees. The referees stayed in the ring (and just got in the ring) for the Rumble, and no wrestler seemed to know that going to floor in any fashion (not just over the top) meant elimination until it happened. That's totally how (tecnico) Slayer got eliminated - he had one of those moments when you just start dropkicking everyone out of the ring, including referees. Slayer slid out of the ring to pound the rudo referee, but everyone else was aware he should be eliminated. A long argument ensued, and while people were telling him to leave, Slayer came back in and quickly got sent back out to make it a moot issue.

And then Gringo Loco entered the ring, stepped out of the ring and dropped to the floor. Someone smartened him up a little too late. I guess it's okay if you don't dropkick the referee first (and if you're part of the finish.) Charly Manson Jr. had a Pequeno Charly Manson Jr. (8 years old-ish?) who got in lots of armdrags and then was killed by a Gringo Loco boot in perhaps the greatest moment ever. Match ended up wtih a singles match between Manson and Gringo, with Charly quickly winning. He did not get a belt, but did get a bowling trophy. Best spot was Tigre holding onto the outside of the ring post and hanging on for his life while Futuro tried to pry his hands loose. Tigre must've fought to hold on for thirty seconds and almost pulled it off.

I don't think this Yakuza was the same guy from Mexico. The IWC Title Belt is quite modest, and I couldn't quite see enough of it to figure out what IWC was supposed to stand for. Thought it was kinda weird they'd have some other title match after they just declared a champ (and an intermission), but it worked out perfectly in the end. Charly Manson Jr. was Huracan Ramirez Jr.'s corner man and so got a chance to get in a dive he couldn't in the rumble. Yakuza's corner man, Amenaza del Siglo, slipped into foul Huracan Ramirez Jr. and Yakuza got on top for the win. After everyone played a fine game of toss the microphone (and talk on it), the Guy In Charge declared there would be only one title in GALLI and they would unify the belts at the next show.

Main event was US standard tag. I don't think I've seen Samuary before, but he looked good. Lynn was over but not hugely. I think there were a handful of people there to see him, but most of the crowd (~200?) was the normal latino families. After Samuray was stuck in the ring for a long time (and Boz and Velazquez and their unnamed female manager made that work well), tecnicos rallied back to win totally clean, simultaneous finishers to end it.

There was a stunning lack of BS on this show. Being an indy show, it did start late, but there were no interminable pauses during the show - either we got another match, or they told us it was a ten minute intermission and to go buy stuff. (I just realized I didn't buy the local lucha magazine they were selling there, which is very sad.) There wasn't pointless chair shots and random hardcore stuff, and not every match ended with people making mask/mask challenges no one belived would happen. I don't know if any of the matches were *** or above based on match quality (though the Royal Rumble was ***** in entertainment in moments), but this was exactly the type of lucha show I keep hoping to see elsewhere. I'll be at their next show...

...which is March 16. Different venue this time, Glendale Heights Ramada (if I remember right.) They announced the top two matches, though I'm not totally sure about the main event rudos either.

-) Charly Manson Jr. vs Yakuza, Galli Title vs IWC Title
-) Rey Misterio Sr., Hijo de Rey Misterio, Huracan Ramirez Jr. vs Amenza de Siglo, El Infernal, Gringo Loco

This is the only promotion I've ever noticed who actually say "Rey Misterio SENIOR", so bonus points there. Kids in front of me were still going boinkers like the SmackDown guy was going to be there. Really interested in seeing Hijo de Rey Misterio.

Ovaciones says Pierroth is in the hospital. He's suffering from pancreatitis, due to excess weight. Not sure if this is connected to his previously alluded to health issues.

Ovaciones previews both the Coliseo show today (Garza + Averno & Mephisto = likely tecnico win) and quotes Mr. Niebla promising victory of Abismo Negro at the AAA taping today.

Accion highlights

CMLL: Main event atomicos. You know, when Garza's accidently kicked teammates for months, you tend not to take it too seriously. They did on this day. It started with Perro having one of this mad swinging bits, except one caught Garza and Garza angrily shoved down Perro. Garza hit Perro back with the low kick that always misses, and the ex-Infernales swarmed him. The first half of the clips heavily teased Averno/Mephisto vs Rey/Ultimo, but breakup stuff was played much more important than the finish. Dr. Morales called it the surprise of the year. Well, it is February.

AAA: NOAH trios. Marafuji looked good, but the clips didn't make Morishima look much better than your average fat wrestler. They also didn't air any turn before the finish, only showing Kenzo and Morishima shoving after the fact.

DeportTV vanished before I could see it, but I'm thinking the lucha clips are gone from there. Check when it goes up on their site.

aired 2/9/8, taped 12/14/07. It wasn't that long when the lag was much longer, but this felt kinda ancient.

This was better than I thought it'd be:

(or sendspace)

As always, we need more NOAH guys to keep Juvi moving. I'm pretty sure this was better than each and every garbage match the MPs did in 2007. That said, had I watched the whole show before making the video file, I would've thrown in Chessman's spear. That was the best AAA garbage wrestling spot ever (among spots that went as planned.)

Fictional AAA Velocity/Guerreros del Ring Lineup
- Lady Rabbit, Estrellita, Sexi Star vs Mujer Demente, Lola Gonzalez, La Chola
- Consgrados vs Alan + Barrio Boys
- Nemesis, Dizzy vs Barba Roja and Hijo de Pirata Morgan
- Chris Stone vs Joe Lider

Gotta have Lady Rabbit. We're coming on her annual Reina de Reinas apperance, right?

The finish of the main event didn't make any sense - Mesias is gone for three months but can't lose on the way out? Legion are crossing names off a murder list, and plan on getting Cibernetico next even though the show started by informing everyone he wouldn't be around for a while? There were two weeks between the GdT and this show, they knew Cibernetico wasn't going to be back any time soon.

Previous: 02/10 (Ixtapaluca), 02/15 (Queretaro), 02/23 (Minatitlan, Veracruz; no lineup)

AAA TV (SAT) 03/01 Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba [KrisZ, El Sol de Orizaba]
1) Alan, Javi, Kevin, Ricky vs Barba Roja, Drake Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr.

3) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown vs Cuervo, Espíritu, Ozz

5) Gronda II, Laredo Kid, Octagón vs Histeria, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II
6) Alan Stone & Brazo de Plata vs El Elegido & Intocable and Electro Shock & Kenzo Suzuki and Escoria & Zumbido [cage, Rey de Reyes tornero]

Projected Air Date (#826)
Mexico: 03/09
US: 03/29

I can only guess Escoria is with Zumbido because they really wanted to do a Sect vs Clowns match here (instead of logically putting two members of the Sect in the tournament as a team) and they couldn't figure out a fourth Guapo to insert in this tournament. They really need Monsther!

Tecnicos in the opening match are the newest iteration of the Barrio Boys, though I don't give them quite much hope. Javi's the Kumbia Kid who stuck around to team with pre-Night Queen Jesse. Actually, Kevin was in the Kumbia Kids too and, with the way everyone's recycled, would anyone really be surprised if Ricky was X-Fly? I'm kinda hoping for that now.

Niebla being back with the Vipers means I have no idea how this is going.

Projected Air Date (#824)
MEX: 02/24
US: 03/15

Chessman + Steel Cage = schedule the hospital bed now.

They're going to have weekly cage matches as qualifying matches to an unspecified tournament. I didn't think they could beat the tag team tournament. What a fool I was.

How do you win a four way cage match, anyway? In a hair/mask situation, it's for being second to last, and the reason everyone else leaves is so they're not last. Since leaving first means about the same as being the last one in, why would anyone ever leave the cage? I'm hoping this is pinfall.

The best worker in the semimain is....Intocable? Zorro? Porky, despite it all? These are not good options to have.

Is it really meaningful to lead the Vipers if none of them are getting matches? (Psicosis and Histeria are working Tijuana on this night.)

Reforma says the first major show of the CMLL year, Homenaje a Dos Leyendas, will take place on 03/21. They're honoring Lutteroth and Black Shadow again this year.

CMLL (FRI) 02/08 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, superluchas, Reforma, Notimex, ESTO]
1) Apocalipsis & Ramstein b Ángel Azteca Jr. & Sombra de Plata
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Rosa Negra
3) La Máscara, Sagrado, Último Dragón b Diamante Negro, Ephesto, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Grey Shadow, La Sombra b Black Warrior, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Mephisto b Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Perro, Averno, and Mephisto turned on Hector Garza, after he and Perro accidentally kicked each other thru the second falls. (Irrelevant WWA Tag Titles already? That's a new record.) Perros still managed to win the main event in two falls, then beat up Hector so he was strechered out. It's not clear if Hector is going tecnico or if Perro's just splitting the group.

Not a lot to say about the rest of the show. Attendence was down, which shouldn't be a surprise.

Arturo Rivera's column mentions Mesias' return in March.

CMLL (TUE) 02/12 Arena Mexico
1) Sombra de Plata & Trueno vs Angel Perverso & Ciber Black
2) Godess, Luna Mágica, Sahori vs Amapola, La Seductora, Rosa Negra
3) Fabián el Gitano, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
4) La Máscara, Mictlán, Valiente vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Shocker vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible

This is Sahori's return from knee surgery.

CMLL (FRI) 02/15 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Metálico vs Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Heavy Metal, Máximo, Sagrado vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
4) Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Marco Corelone vs Damián 666, Héctor Garza, Terrible
5) Grey Shadow, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Hector teams with the other Perros, so we'll see what the deal is. I don't think they could be pushing Grey Shadow much harder.

CMLL.com mentions they're going to start doing tours of the city for people coming to Mexico City on vacation.

LA Park explains to Reforma that's he's not a jerk, it's everyone in wresting who's a jerk and that's why he's not friends with any of them. He only cares about his wife, his children, and his credit card.

AAA's Dos De Tres magazine features Abismo Negro on the cover. Marco Rivera says AAA's confirmed Scott Steiner and Teddy Hart to return for Rey de Reyes and have talked to Booker T and Kevin Nash. The Wrestling Observer mentioned they talked to RVD as well, but Van Dam wrestling seems incredibly unlikely considering his recent comments. Eddie Guerrero will go into the AAA Hall Of Fame. I can already tell I hate the tournament this year, that's a bit annoying.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #115 has
02/03 Coliseo: Dr. X, Hooligan, Skandalo b Astro Boy, Metálico, Tony Rivera
02/03 Coliseo: LA Park, Místico, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Black Warrior, Mephisto
no outside the ring.

The correct lucha times page is up now.

February 8, 2008

CMLL (FRI) 02/08 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Sombra de Plata vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Rosa Negra
3) La Máscara, Sagrado, Último Dragón vs Diamante Negro, Ephesto, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Grey Shadow, La Sombra vs Black Warrior, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Mephisto vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

I have this idea Averno & Mephisto are going to end up breaking up with Perro Aguayo Jr. & Hector Garza by the end of this match and be back on their own, but that's just my total guess. We'll know more about the union between these two teams by the end of this match for sure.

The rest of the show is notable for Grey Shadow's second match and Goddess' Friday debut in the women's trios. ESTO interviews her about her career to this point.

Ovaciones previews CMLL's Friday show and AAA's Sunday taping. NotiMex, ReformaESTO have generic previews.

CMLL (WED) 02/06 Auditorio Miguel Barragan [El Mojado]
1) Black Dragon, Dannys Boy, Tirano DQ Coyote Azul, Furia Salvaje, The Rockers
2) Chico Malo, Edgar el Guapo, Salvador b Crazy Star, Mensajero, Tigre del Ring
3) Luna Mágica & Princesa Blanca b Amapola & Medussa
4) La Sombra, Mascara Purpura, Máximo b Diamante Negro, Loco Max, Nitro
5) Místico, Sagrado, Shocker b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Ultimonito was with the rudos. Averno and Mistico did the usual post match channels.

(Reforma via Jazzo) The Arena Neza Pequeno Reyes de Aires ended in a draw between Mini Damian and Pierrothito. Mini Violencia and Mini Halloween both had interfered to help their usual partners, and everyone ended up getting coutned out. They challenged for a mask vs hair match after.

LaOreja.tv reports Intocable has quit working with the Piel Caliente strippers. I didn't even know he was working with strippers, though I that'd explain the back up dancers. Intocable says they wanted him to commit to the group full time and he wasn't going to do that, and also rips the management (and Poncho de Nigris specifically) for it's disorganization.

Babe Sharon's death is mentioned in Ovaciones, Diario, and ESTO.

ESTO writes about El Hijo del Santo at Santo's statue. He's planning a lot of things to coincide with next year's 25th anniversary of his death.

El Sol de San Luis previews the 03/05 AAA TV Taping. No new details.

Dia A Dia interviews a mask maker in Panama. He says there are 3 people who make masks in the country, and 3 different promotions running.

CMLL (MON) 02/11 Arena Puebla
1) King Jaguar & Super Star vs Karisma & Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Black Tiger (Puebla), Legionario, Tigre Rojo vs Espiritu Maligno, Policeman, Toro Bill
3) Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki, Último Dragoncito vs Halloween, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Máscara Púrpura, Valiente
5) Dos Caras Jr., LA Park, Shocker vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano

Not only is the semimain tecnicos vs tecnicos, but it's Mex Trios Champs together. When they did this in Queretaro, this set up a title match soon after.

AAA (SUN) 02/10 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Maldito & Yako vs Criminal & Dr. Cianuro
2) Aguila Extrema, Dranser, Scravos vs Kaientia, Lord Byron, Ramses (Monterrey)
3) Iron & Principe Diamante vs Rio Bravo & Tito Santana II [AAA NORTH TAG]
4) Virtual X vs Euforia (Monterrey) [mask]
5) Billy Boy, el Ángel, La Momia vs Antifaz del Norte, Guerrero Negro Jr., Sangre Chicana

In a Veracruz carnival, there's a huge Mistico float to promote the new energy drink.

Not sure if I'm going to be able to the Addison show after all.

February 7, 2008

Babe Sharon passed away yesterday: lo mejor de lucha, Box Y Lucha Foro, El Martiente, AAA's website, luchawiki. Babe Sharon (Armando Aro) was an exotico wrestle, one part of a trio with Sergio el Hermoso and Bello Greco (father of the Stones), and AAA credits hiim as a forerunner of the current crop of exoticos. Sharon wrestled in AAA from 1994 to 1999. He was 55, and passed away in Juarez due to heart problems.

CMLL (TUE) 02/05 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Virgo b Guero Loco
2) Estrella de Jalisco b El Egipcio
3) Casanova & Idolo b Rey Trueno & Super Maquina
4) Metal Blanco & Metatron b Infierno & Mr. Trueno
5) Malefico, Máscara Mágica, Texano Jr. DQ Leon Blanco, Leono, Tony Rivera
6) Místico & Negro Casas b Misterioso II & Último Guerrero

Mistico won the main event clean. Leon Blanco showed up a match early, in the fourth, to distract Infierno into losing his match. Infierno reappeared in the third fall of the main event, brawling with Leon Blanco to take him away from the fight. The rudos actually in the match enjoyed the 3 on 2 advanage too much and got DQed for excessive violence. This sets up a cage of death in a couple of weeks.

Atlantis talked to Reforma about the injury he suffered on Tuesday. In the moment, he thought he might have torn tendons and fractured his right ankle, because it hurt that much when he tried to walk on it. The doctor checked him out, injected something into his leg, rubbed some ointment, and Atlantis was able to walk out of the arena. His ankle is bruised and taped and he's feeling about 70%, but he plans on working all of his dates this week.

Reforma (via Jazzo) also previews tonight's Neza Mini Cibernetico, and Dr. Wagner talks about his relationship with Mistico.

Lead CMLL rudo referee and occasional wrestler Baby Richard will be interviewed by Metro (Mexico) tomorrow.

More Santo remembrances: ESTO (bio), El Sol de Tulancingo (ceremony at their statute), Dosier (somewhat confusing first person narrative)

El Sol de Tampico has a bio of Mil Mascaras. I liked the paragraph detailing how Mil Mascaras is still alive in the 1997 Royal Rumble. Which is kinda true, he purposefully went thru the ropes before coming off the top rope just so he could claim that later, but you'd think it'd be way down the list of Mil Mascaras accomplishments.

Mistico chats after his match on Celeya on Tuesday.

Maze Middle School in Hollister, CA has a lucha libre fundraiser on Saturday. Hijo de Rey Misterio is mentioned as working the show.

GALLI (SUN) 02/10 Addison Community Center
1) Bazooka & El Funebre vs El Chilango & Mr. Zeus
2) Resistencia vs Blade
3) Golden Star vs Gringo Loco, Amenza del Siglo, Aguila del America, Slayer, Guerrillero, El Infernal, Discovery, Charly Manson Jr., El Tigre, Quinto Sol, Guerrerito del Futuro, Pentagon del Infierno, Angel de la Muerte [torneo, GALLI CHAMP]
4) Huracan Ramirez Jr. vs Yakuza [IWC ?]
5) Jerry Lynn & Samuray vs Isaias Velazques & Steve Boz

(google map)

I believe I'm going to this, and maybe printing out this poster so I can ID half the guys. Anyone else going? Jerry Lynn should work this show as Mr. JL.

I had a hard time grasping what FSE was doing this week, but I think I've got it figured out.

FSE-US: someone's figured out they're lagged behind episodes and has decided to make it up by airing two new episodes a week. I want these people running Galavision immediately. Just to make sure it's clear to those who get FSE and glaze over the non-Sunday lucha airings - FRIDAY episodes are ALSO new for the time being.

FSE-US FRIDAY: Listed as "Rey Bucanero vs H. Perro Aguayo", includes the start of Volador/Perro feud and pre-Rebeldes vs Azteca/Fabian/Metalico. Reruns on Monday and Saturday.

FSE-US SUNDAY: "Dos Caras Jr. vs H. Perro Aguayo", second trios match between Volador/Perro + Triad of Terror vs Felino/Sombra/Maximo. Tentaively reruns late next Sunday.

Should I start listing the titles on the FSE Indexes? I think it'd help identifying what's on the reruns.

CAN52: New Infernales vs CMLL High Flyers and Mistico/Negro/Park vs Guerreros - this ought to be a fun show if I turn out correct.

AAA-US: New tapings resume with the only show from December. Psycho Circus (kinda sorta) debut, Taiji Ishimori makes a cameo, and Mesias' Last Stand. Ever notice that Mesias is the doing a worked injury angle, and the two guys actually seriously hurt are going to be back before him? Wrestling is weird.

------

AAA-MEX: If you totally wanted to see a NOAH guy fight a NOAH guy, but didn't actually want to watch NOAH, this may be the show for you. Feuds move towards Rey de Reyes at a snails pace.

CMLL: 1:45 show, so top 3. Grey Shadow gets a second chance to make any impression, and we all find out a little bit more about the Averno/Mephisto/Perros alliance.

FSE-MEX: Amapola and Marcela try to hold a trios together, and three tecnicos going nowhere meet three rudos going nowhere.

Cadena3: Whatever I said in the morning. Figure out Mascara Purpura's injury before the rest of us.

CMLL (MON) 02/04 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Karisma, Toro Bill Jr., Zigma b Asturiano, Forajido, Legionario
2) Fuerza Chicana, Negro Navarro, Siki Osama Jr. b Centella de Oro, Lestat, Starman
3) La Máscara, Mascara Purpura, Valiente b Ohara, Shigeo Okumura, Skandalo
4) La Sombra, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Mascara Ano 2000, Último Guerrero, Universo 2000
5) Atlantis b Blue Panther [NWA LH]

Atlantis took the main event clean with Atlantida.

CMLL (TUE) 02/05 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, cmll, reforma via Jazzo]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II b Pólvora & Zayco
2) Fire, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito b Celestial, Electrico, Pequeño Olímpico
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus b Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr.
4) Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Último Dragón b Sangre Azteca, Skandalo, Universo 2000
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Valiente b Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero

MIA: Olimpico (replaced by Skandalo)
WOUNDED: Atlantis (hurt in the second fall, left the dressing room on his own feet), Mascara Purpura (no details)

Wagner beat Atlantis with the Atlantida in the first fall of the main event. Rudos took the second, tecnicos used the numbers to take the third.

Tecnicos took the semimain in straight falls, including Sangre getting caught fouling Heavy Metal in the second.

In other Reforma articles, Alex Koslov desperately wants a title rematch with Averno this year, while Misterioso is less particular about who he fights, as long as he fights for a title.

CMLL (SUN) 02/10 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar vs Milenio
2) Virgo vs Guero Loco
3) Carlo Roggi vs Valentin Mayo
4) Metatron & Oro II vs El Egipcio & Super Maquina
5) Sagrado vs La Sombra, El Gallo, Stuka Jr., Casanova, Damián 666, Ephesto, Mr. Trueno, Toxico [OCCIDENTE LH, ciber]
6) Marco Corelone vs Último Guerrero

Who you got? Maybe Sagrado wins another title.

CMLL (TUE) 02/12 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Milenio
2) Idolo vs Danger (Guadalajara)
3) Lider vs Destroyer (Guadalajara)
4) Metalik vs Rey Trueno
5) Leon Blanco & Leono vs Infierno & Máscara Mágica
6) Alex Koslov & Tony Rivera vs Malefico & Texano
7) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Black Warrior [UWA HEAVY]

CMLL actually lists this as "IWA", but I hope that's a typo.

AAA's preview for this weekend's taping promises there will be blood between Abismo Negro and Mr. Niebla. Ovaciones is having a contest for tickets to this show - mail farosas@ova.com.mx with the names Antonio Pena used before becoming a promoter. You've got to be able to pick up the tickets on Friday from the Ovaciones office.

El Hijo del Santo going to Santo's statue got covered in a few places, including Ovaciones, ESTO (in a photo gallery),

Arturo Rivera's column mentions Nicho is now the local AAA promoter in Tijuana. (I think I read an article that said he was one half of the local promoter, but close enough.)

AAA (THU) 02/21 Gimnasio del Estadio Carlos Serdan Arechavaleta
1) Apolo, Matematico Jr., Sangre y Fuego vs Black Baby, El Hijo del Buitre, Matrix (Veracruz)
2) Celestial (Veracruz), El Alebrije, El Elegido vs Electro Shock, Monsther, Violencia (Veracruz)
3) Charly Manson, Chessman, La Parka Jr. vs Abismo Negro, Psicosis II, Zorro

I believe that's a local Violencia and not the ex-CMLL guy.

DeporTV actually didn't self delete this week, so I can tell you that no lucha aired. This is a couple weeks in a row, so I wonder if they might be done on that show.

Guerreros del Ring #125 has Xtreme Tiger on the cover.

As part of it's Solar month, el Martiente is interviewing Solar I himself and taking questions from their board.

CMLL FSE #74, taped 12/30/07, aired 02/03/08

I don't think Heavy Metal is jumping to AAA. I think he's just going to keep shrinking until he vanishes completely.

The secret big story of 2007 is Universo going from main eventing back to back major shows to being a non-factor. Mascara and Pierroth had similar declines, and I'm so not nostalgic for them after this match.

Ovaciones didn't update their site today, but I presume they're writing about Santo. Voz de la Frontera has a bio, so does NotiMex.

CMLL (SUN) 02/03 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll]
1) Quazar b Azazel
2) Golden & Lider b Asesino Negro & Destroyer
3) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Idolo & Nube Roja
4) La Máscara & Máximo b Angel Blanco Jr. & Sangre Azteca
5) Exterminador b Ebola [hair]
6) Averno, Olímpico, Último Guerrero b Grey Shadow, Marco Corelone, Sagrado

Top two matches were already covered. In the 4th, Maximo pinned Angel Blanco with a kiss. They agreed to a title match in two weeks. I have to say, even I have to think to remember exactly which title Angel Blanco Jr. has.

An interview with Mini Abismo Negro on el Martiente includes Mini Abismo claiming whatever page lists him as Mini Goldust is wrong.

indy (THU) 02/07 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [El Siglo de Torreon]
1) Dark Saint & Jerry Brown vs Camorra & Insolito

4) Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Trueno b Damián 666, Misterioso II, Texano Jr.
5) LA Park, Místico, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Black Warrior, Mephisto

Lizmark Jr. was MIA for the main event, so Mephisto took his place. Mephisto and Atlantis's teamwork, after the title match on Friday and the champ's new alliance with Perro Aguayo - well, look at the picture. Tecnicos took it in straight falls. LA Park's green outfit is stupendous.

Trueno replaced Ultimo Dragon in the main event. That's kinda the same thing, in that they're both human beings.

Rebeldes won again! I think they just needed some warm up matches and/or Hooligan actually wrestling.

Columbix @ Satanico's Mansion has a detailed recap of Leono vs Disturbio in a hair match yesterday in Neza. I won't spoil the finish for you. There's a mention of another lucha libre (monthy) magazine, Hagase La Lucha which I haven't seen previously. I need to update the link list.

Tomorrow is the 24th anniversary of El Santo's death.

Accion had
CMLL: tag team title match
AAA: Clowns vs Tecnicos of all things. I feel much more sure that Argenis = Hombre Sin Nombre than I do about Rocky Romero/Grey Shadow. Tall clown does seem to move like a US/Canada guy.

CMLL (SAT) 02/02 Auditorio Municipal de Tampico [El Dentista @ el Martiente - but watch out for loud music]

2) Hechicero & Principe Orquidea b Baby Lover & Jimmy Torres
3) Mini Halloween & Mr. Aguilita b Bam Bam & Shockercito
4) Loco Castillo b La Mascara
5) Marco Corelone & Shocker b Hector Garza & Olímpico

La Mascara replaced Maximo, who was supposed to set up a hair match with Loco Castillo here and was announced as hurt. (Not the only guy to miss the show, though.) In the replacement match, Castillo beat Mascara in two falls and they challenged to a three way hair/mask match for next time.

What do we know?
- AAA's doing something strange for Rey de Reyes
- Don't bet on Mr. Niebla winning control of the Vipers
- Fabi & Billy aren't breaking up, or there's a quite a month of TV coming up. Also, that feud looks pushed more than usual
- That's the easiest Clown match yet

Arturo Rivera's column talks about the end of Hector Garza's career (as if he did not read the part that said "four years from now, maybe") and says Ron Killings finishes up with AAA at Rey de Reyes before rejoining WWE. Rivera thinks this is proof WWE pays attention to AAA, neglecting to mention Killings was in TNA since the time it got started.

The latest SuperLuchas has a notice from the DF Box Y Lucha commission, announcing a few national 2007 awards. Blue Demon and Mil Mascaras are going to be inducted into the Mexico Sports Hall of Fame. Pompin is Referee of the Year. Paco Alonso is Promoter of the Year. Blue Panther is Wrestler of The Year. I love Blue Panther, he did win the main event of the anniversary show, but there's a bit of a credibility gap on that award. Anyway, these awards all will be officially given out at the Mexico Sports award ceremony in March.

Super Luchas #249 has John Cena's return, and Averno & Mephisto as champs.

Ovaciones mentions IWRG has released monthly rankings for it's divisions, and lists all the current #1 contenders.

Title Champion #1 Contender

La Parka Jr. is listed as wrestling on at least on house show this week. I hope it's false advertising, or he ends up just making an non-wrestling appearance. The guy needs to rest.

That match was all sorts of ugly even before and after that injury. Disappointing. Neutron is listed on next Sunday's lineup, so maybe it's not a big deal, but it sure seemed that way.

Hope you're not expecting me to be around taping DeporTV highlights on SuperBowl Sunday.

February 2, 2008

taped some mysterious time over the holidays, aired 02/02/08 in the US

Stuff you can actually take from this show

- you can get in a whole more wrestling with when time isn't wasted on three minute long entrances for every single person.

- AAA would prefer you forget Charly climbed up the ladder and only then decided the tag team titles weren't worth his time. They still showed the HBs forcing Lider to win the match, so it's not completely clean.

- I can start 1h40m behind a best of show and still catch up way before it ends.

projected air date
Mexico: 02/10
US: 03/02

The big angle on the show had nothing to do with any of the matches. Before the fourth match, Konnan interrupted a Parka promo and complained about not being booked on this show. Prez Roldan promised a surprise for Konnan on Monday. (Which is not a taping.) I'm guessing this is the announcement of Cibernetico's return.

Main event came finish had the Hell Brothers clearing knocking Japanese rudos out of the ring and following with dives. This left Marafuji and Abismo, and Abismo grabbed Marafuji for the Martiente. Who made the save? Morishima, who debuted and turned within twenty minutes. YAY. Marafuji DDTed Abismo for the win, and the NOAH guys celebrated with the Hell Brothers guys before the Legion came out to whine. Apparently the NOAH guys are going to help AAA end the scourge of the Foreign Legion. I wonder if NOAH's in between tours on 03/16? Their next one appears to finish at 03/02 (and Morishima may be NOAH champ at that time.)

Besides the main, it was an all rudo win show.
- Scoria yanked Elegido's mask to win the unadvertised semimain
- Juvi had the semimain won, but Alicia distracted the refs and Zorro stole the win. Clowns
- Payasos now have 29 wins in a row and destroyed Guapito.
- The Apache's have sadly gone into reruns: Billy Boy accidentally hit Fabi in a post opening match scrum with Gran Apache and Mari, and Fabi may have not so accidentally hit Billy in the second match.
- Angel Mensjaero, who may be Alliens alter ego, replaced Cassandro for no announced reason. Hope he's not going three months again.

Update: Should've thought of this first - of course SportsNavi from Japan was covering this show because of the NOAH tie-ins. They say the show was a 6,000 person sellout, though I thought the fan recap said it was not full. Main event went 16:38.

CMLL (FRI) 02/01 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ESTO, manslipkorn]
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Neutrón b Calígula & Méssala
2) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico b Mascara Purpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr.
3) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Shocker b Misterioso II, Mr. Águila, Villano V
4) Grey Shadow, LA Park, Místico b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Terrible
5) Averno & Mephisto b Atlantis & Último Guerrero [CMLL TAG]

Challengers won the first fall, champions won the second. Mephisto and Atlantis were eliminated from the final fall, but Mephisto snuck in to foul UG, and Averno covered for the title change. Main event falls went 6.5 minutes, 2.5 minutes and 35 (!) minutes.

After the match, Perro Aguayo Jr. showed up to recruit Averno & Mephisto to join Perros del Mal. Superluchas and Ovaciones says they accepted. ESTO says they did not. Based on next week's lineup, I'm thinking they've accepted at least for now. Where does this leave Ephesto?

Averno's now a three belt champion, holding the tag titles and both middleweight titles.

Tecnicos won the semimain in straight falls. Mistico was said to have a bad night and Grey Shadow didn't make a huge impression. It soumds as though his flying moves were good but he needs to work on his brawling. Perro and Hector seem to have brought their newly won WWA Tag Team belts here. Maybe Averno & Mepisto can win those too.

CMLL (TUE) 02/05 Arena Mexico

Neutron's injury looked brutal. It would not be a surprise if he's out for a while, but I haven't heard any updates.

February 1, 2008

They're now 2 time champions, and the 25th overall. It ended with Averno pinning Ultimo Guerrero.

I need to get myself a countdown timer. September 26th sounds right.

(please don't mistake me: if Averno/Mistico actually goes down, I'd be thrilled.)

Today's international focus of lucha libre will be on the 02/01 AAA Taping, where NOAH wrestlers Naomichi Marafuji and Takeshi Mosishima make cameos (in a match likely to be decided by a Mr. Niebla run-in.) To me, the CMLL show is much more interesting.

CMLL (FRI) 02/01 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Neutrón Tony Rivera vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Mascara Purpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
3) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Shocker vs Misterioso II, Mr. Águila, Villano V
4) Grey Shadow, LA Park, Místico vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Terrible
5) Atlantis & Último Guerrero vs Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

First Generation Satanico Student vs Second Generation Satanico Student. All of these guys have been rudos since hooking up with Satanico, so this is a quite unlikely match. Averno and Mephisto will always be grouped in with the Ultimo Guerrero style of rudos but have never been able to supplant UG. They would not, even with a win here, because UG's young enough that he won't be going anywhere for a long time, but Averno & Mephisto can move to the same level.

Since I now totally believe Averno vs Mistico is the Anniversary main event (which forces me to believe they have a plan for September), I'm going with a title change here to continue the build, and maybe we can get some Averno/Mephisto vs UG/Rey rematches down the road. This one should be pretty good too.

Semimain is the debut of Grey Shadow, right in the middle of a couple feuds. ESTO lists him as 176 cm and 82 kg, having wrestled in the US and Japan and having been at the same wrestling school as Alex Koslov. Jose Moreno, earlier guessed as possibly the man beneath the mask, first the last requirement. Can't find much results from him past '05.

Let's hope whomever it is doesn't pull a Sagrado.

Even without Grey Shadow debuting, that'd be an interesting semimain: Perro versus two of his big rivals from 2007. Like all CMLL rivalries from 2007, these are completely unresolved feuds with both sides talking about doing the big match and not actually doing it. Crowd should be into this match, and I'd presume the Perros are going to end up cheered by the end.

Shocker and Mr. Aguila are working third from the top. Satanico's teaming up with his Third Generation guys against a returning Mascara Purpura. Neutron's out due to injury.

Averno vows to win the the tag team titles tonight, no matter the cost. NotiMex sees the title match as a toss up. Atlantis respects his opponents, saying Averno & Mephisto are a 9.9. (UG/Atlantis are a 10, natuarlly.) LA Park talked to ESTO about not really caring if he's a tecnico or rudo, and defeating Dr. Wagner at the special IWRG show on Wednesday.

LLII (SUN) 01/27 Show Palace, Oceanside, CA [thegladiatores]
1) China Fox b Mexus
2) Locura & Matt Twizted b Bandido & Socal Crazy
3) Quinta Dimension & Sigma b Extassis & Faraon de Occidente
4) Pandillero I & Pandillero II b Ruby Gardenia & Socal Crazy
5) Durango Kid & Silver King b Chilango & Volador Jr.

Rudos got the main event win with a little help from Rey Bucanero. Bucanero worked with the rest of the main event crew on the LA Dojo show, and will be back here on 02/10 to face Volador in a tag match.

IWRG (SUN) 01/27 Arena Naucalpan [thegladiatores]
1) Halcon Salvaje b Rey Estruendo
2) Puma King & Rockero del Diablo b Bacteria & Duendecillo
3) Filoso IWRG, Freelance, Star Boy b Nemesis IWRG, Trauma I, Trauma II

5) Black Terry, Enterrador 2000, Hijo del Cien Caras b Bogeman, Multifacético, Rayo de Jalisco Jr.

Rayo attempted to give Hijo de Cien Caras a martinete, but Caras slipped free, fouled him, and pinned him. Serves Rayo right. Veneno slipped in a foul on Pantera, who appears to be wrestling in his mask again here.

IWRG (WED) 01/30 Roots Magic Club [thegladiatores, ovaciones]
1) Oficial 911, Oficial AK 47, Oficial Fierro b Freelance, Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II
2) Bogeman, Multifacético, Ultramán Jr. b Kalimari, Masada, Veneno
3) Hijo del Cien Caras, LA Park, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Dr. Wagner Jr., Rayman, Rayo de Jalisco Jr.

Rayman was hurt in the main event, and Rayo left to help him to the back. Despite being down 1 to 3, it still took Park sneaking in a low blow to beat Wagner. But Park did win.

Mr. Reyes posted photos from Thursday's IWRG show.

WWA (THU) 01/31 Auditorio de Tijuana [d3v1lb0y @ box y lucha]
4) El Dandy, Super Astro, Tarzan Boy b Damián 666, Ramses, Rey Misterio Sr.
5) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Héctor Garza b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Shocker [WWA TAG]

Third fall of the main event saw Shocker pinned, Garza pinned, and Garza sneak back in to yank Wagner's mask. Tarzan turned into the semifinal.

RFC referenced this earlier this week, but Milenio talks more about upheaval in the Monterrey Box Y Lucha comission. The commissioner was forced out, just a day after being honored for his work and right before weigh-ins for a boxing match.

indy (SUN) 02/17 Poliforum Zamna de Merida [Yucacool @ el Martiente]

2) Angelito Vengador vs Arkanos [mask]
3) el Hijo Del Anibal & Rayman vs Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.
4) Blue Demon Jr. & Latin Lover vs Héctor Garza & LA Park

Latin's working this show as an independent wrestler.

Don't know when I'm going to be able to get a full update today, so I wanted to put this up right away: ESTO has a picture and bio of the new guy.
