07/07: Mexico, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 07/06 Arena Mexico [ESTO, Galeno Del Mal de box y lucha, Alvin @ el Martinete]
1) Astro Boy & Sombra de Plata b Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Nitro, Nosferatu, Virus b Flash, Mictlan, Valiente
3) Katsuhiko Nakajima, Kensuske Sasaki, Ultimo Dragon b Arkangel, Dr. X, Texano Jr.
4) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Alex Koslov, Felino, Stuka Jr.
5) Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Sagrado b Terrible, Villano III, Villano V
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Euforia, Ultimo Guerrero b Mistico, Negro Casas, Sombra

Wagner back on the rudo side, though still posing like a tecnico. Mistico almost got La Mistica on him, but UG broke it up, and Wagner landed a Wagner Drive for the clean victory. After the match, Mistico was strecher-ed out. Guerrero welcomed Wagner “to the side you never should’ve left”, and invited him to team up for a tag title match versus Negro & Mistico next week. Wagner agreed to the idea.

Panther’s team won it’s match in two falls. Rudos yanked off his mask in the first, so he was forced to compete in a Sagrado replica for the second, but still managed to catch Terrible in a fujiwara armbar.

Dragon/Sasaki/Nakajima was a unannounced addition to the show. Can’t think of the last time that happened, but that means there surely is a Toryumon Mexico show going on some place, somewhere on Sunday. This was said to be good, though no one had any idea who the non-Dragon Japanese were – that’s the lack of adversiting.

Valiente did replace Super Nova, so trust ESTO over CMLL’s own site. Virus fouled him and pinned him for the win.

No results from the AAA Puebla taping yet, but Sabu made an appearance. Rikishi and his (cousin?) Black Pearl are supposed to be involved at TripleMania. Hopefully just run-ins. It’s not like I can hope for no run ins.

CMLL now has a traveling museum/bus. It’s filled with masks, trophies, newspaper clippings, etc. If this is to be believed, Pierroth was driving the bus on this day.

CMLL hasn’t put up lineups yet.

GdR #85 has

8) Euforia & Ultimo Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr. & Valiente [gran alternativa, sf]
9) La Sombra & Mistico b Euforia & Ultimo Guerrero [gran alternativa, final]
10) Blue Panther DQ Lizmark Jr.

Blue Panther won the first fall clean. The second ended with Garza, Terrible, and Villano V running in, and Lizmark yanking off Panther’s mask again. Panther had to be helped out.

After their semifinal match, Wagner teased a rudo turn and challenged Mistico’s team to a rematch. I would guess this is just random grandstanding.

FWIW, Ultimo Guerrero gave Super Comando the Guerrero Special in their first round match, which meant Euforia was the one to pin Villano V

Metalico hurt his knee in the opener, despite the win.

CMLL (TUE) 07/03 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Trueno vs Messala & Zayco
2) Bam Bam, Bracito de Oro, Celestial vs Mini Halloween, Mini Mr. Aguila, Pequeno Damian
3) Lady Apache, Luna Magica, Marcela vs La Nazi, La Seductora, Rosa Negra

4) Terrible, Villano III, Villano V vs Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Sagrado
5) Mistico, Negro Casas, Sombra vs Atlantis, Euforia, Ultimo Guerrero

Probably should’ve seen this one coming – the guy they’re hoping to be their next Mistico is already starting a feud with the guy they’ve positioned as their next Averno.

AAA updated their website with the full cards for 07/01 and 07/06, but no TV tapings past that.

CMLL GdR #83 has
06/22 Mexico: Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela b Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
06/24 Coliseo: Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Heavy Metal, Máximo, Sombra
Outside the ring with Texano Jr.

Next Saturday’s FSE lucha libre show is listed as “Dos Caras Jr. vs Universo 2000”, so that should be the episode which has already in Mexico. Beyond that, I don’t know.

No Sunday lineup yet.

ESTO

CMLL (FRI) 06/22 Arena Mexico [ova, ESTO, Alvin @ el Martinete

4) Damian 666, Villano III, Villano V DQ Atlantis, Texano Jr., Ultimo Guerrero
5) Hector Garza, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Aguila b Blue Panther, Marco Corleone, Shocker

Lizmark Jr. took Blue Panther’s mask enroute to the win. Texano Jr. replaced Tarzan Boy, 5 and Ultimo ripped up each other’s masks, and Guerreros fouled the Villanos to lose their match. They’re strongly teasing Ultimo vs Villano V in a mask match. The rudas are back to losing all the time again.

No Sunday lineup posted yet. Maybe they’re going to wait till after this week’s Sunday show?

06/22: Mexico preview, SLP

Another slow day. Canada’s goal should’ve counted.

Quick reminder of today’s Arena Mexico card….

CMLL (FRI) 06/22 Arena Mexico
1) Super Nova & Valiente vs Polvora & Vaquero
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
3) La Mascara, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
4) Atlantis, Tozcano, Ultimo Guerrero vs Damian 666, Villano III, Villano V
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corleone, Shocker vs Hector Garza, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Aguila

Preview: ESTO. Ovaciones still has yesterday’s edition on their site.

I’m not really sure what the issue in the main event is supposed to be. Maybe Lizmark Jr.’s return to action? (He’s only been gone a couple of weeks.) High Society/Perros is a feud, but not one they’ve worked on lately. Not that the Villanos have wowed, but at least that match is a bit hotter.

ESTO has an interview with Bucanero, hyping up his show. They go with July 20th here – it’s still 22nd in Ovaciones. ESTO does the vote plug as well, and it occurs to me now that CMLL surely is not going to be counting up the votes from a bunch of different newspapers and articles. They’re just going to tell Ultimo to be ready to work, and Atlantis and Toscano to be ready to look like you were going to work. ESTO also has a notes roundup (they’re pretending to put tickets on Ticketmaster again, starting this Tuesday) and a phone interview with Diana (who would’ve won if only not for her kidney stones and twisted ankle.) Diana’s looking for a rematch in Monterrey in August, which doesn’t leave her a lot of time to grow her hair.

AAA (WED) 06/20 Auditorio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi [El Sol]
1) ?, Astro Latino, Dragon Chino ?? Principe Leon, Turbo X, X Turbo
2) Apolo Star, Centella Inca, Super AAA ?? Americo, Black Maravilla, Cosaco Loco
3) Fabi Apache, Rossy Moreno, Tiffany b Cinthia Moreno, Estrellita, Sexy Star
4) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Mascara Divina DQ Antifaz del Norte, Brazo de Plata Jr., Chris Stone
5) Fuerza Guerrera, Hator, Zumbido b Latin Lover, Super Astro, Tinieblas Jr.

Tineiblas subbed for Juvi. Latin Lover beat Hator for the win. In the semimain, Antifaz fouled Crazy Boy for the DQ. I think Brazo Jr. with the rudos was just a random thing – like Zumbido interfering in the women’s match. Gran Hamada made an appearance on the show.

Attendance is listed as slightly above average – disappointing, but someone credited to the previous Mistico riot.

Gran Alternativa Teams Announced

CMLL.com’s gotta ’em

– Heavy Metal, Super Nova
– Dr. Wagner Jr., Mascara Purpura
– Negro Casas, Stuka Jr.
– Shocker, Valiente
– Marco Corelone, Flash
– Mistico, La Sombra
– Villano V, Super Comando
– Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia

Tournament will take place next week, June 29, which means we’ve had all of a two week gap between tournaments. (Only the Leyenda de Azul remains, unless they bring back the Gran Prix Trios tournament or something new.)

Mistico & La Sombra are obvious favorites, and Villano and Ultimo will almost have to run into each other at some point. Almost all are tecnico teams, which is a bit odd.

First guess…

Villano V, Super Comando b Heavy Metal, Super Nova
Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Marco Corelone, Flash
b Negro Casas, Stuka Jr.
Shocker, Valiente b Dr. Wagner Jr., Mascara Purpura

Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Villano V, Super Comando
Mistico, La Sombra b Shocker, Valiente

Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Mistico, La Sombra (though Mistico losing at this point seems impossible)

06/16: Mexico, lineups, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 06/15 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, ESTO
1) Bam Bam & Fantasy b Fire & Mini Mr. Aguila
2) Goto, Okumura, Virus b Leono, Mictlan, Valiente
3) Ephesto, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca b La Sombra, Mascara Purpura, Maximo
4) Damian 666, Villano III, Villano V b Atlantis, Tozcano, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Blue Panther, Mistico, Negro Casas DQ Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Terrible

Main event saw Perro, Lizmark Jr. and Halloween all run in the third fall. Ovaciones says Mistico’s looking worse and really needs to get out of the ring and rest.

Villanos won their match again in straight falls, this time with a Villano III low blow on Ultimo Guerrero that the referees missed. Guerreros demand a rematch.

La Sombra had a dive gone wrong and was carried out of his match. ESTO says it was a shoulder injury.

Next week’s lineups:

CMLL (TUE) 06/19 Arena Coliseo
1) Fantasy & Tsuki vs Fire & Sombrita
2) Astro Boy, Sensei, Trueno vs Artillero, Hooligan, Super Comando
3) Stuka Jr., Tiger Metalico, Tigre Blanco vs Arkangel, Loco Max, Nitro
4) Felino, Maximo, Sombra vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
5) Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Marco Corleone vs Black Warrior, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero

4) Atlantis, Tozcano, Ultimo Guerrero vs Damian 666, Villano III, Villano V
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corleone, Shocker vs Hector Garza, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Aguila

This is the last announced date for the Villanos, though they surely could just keep working here anyway.

CMLL (SUN) 06/24 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II vs Caligula & Zayco
2) Bam Bam, Mini Olimpico, Ultimo Dragoncito vs Mini Damian 666, Mini Halloween, Mr. Aguilita
3) Leono, Mictlan, Valiente vs Goto, Ohara, Okumura
4) Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila vs Heavy Metal, Mascara Purpura, Maximo
5) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero vs Tozcano, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000

Mistico’s off the lineups all week.

GdR #82 has
06/10: Dark Angel, Diana La Cazdora, Luna Magica DQ Amapola, Poly Star, Princesa Sujei
06/08: Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero b Damian 666, Halloween, Terrible
Out of the ring: with Perro Aguayo Jr. – which ends up being an interview with Perro Jr.’s wife (I presume)
