Universo/Rayo in Puebla, Garza/Shocker in GDL, Tzuki returns

CMLL (MON) 06/21 Arena Puebla [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Ares & Karisma b Centella de Oro & Crazy Black
2) Loco Max, Nosferatu, Skándalo b Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Sensei
3) Fuego, Metro, Valiente b Euforia, Misterioso II, Pólvora
4) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Siki Osama b Atlantis, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) Jushin Lyger, Negro Casas, Universo 2000 b La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Rayo de Jalisco Jr.

Universo got in a foul on Rayo for the pin. Rayo demanded a mask vs hair match for Puebla’s anniversary show and a title match. Since he has a title, that one’s a little easier to pull off.

Siki replaced a missing Toscano. Mascara finished Atlantis with an Atlantida.

CMLL (TUE) 06/22 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Silueta b Princesa Maya
2) Drago & Ebola b Angelo & Virgo
3) Gallo, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro b Ángel del Mal, Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Máximo b Ephesto, Terrible, Texano
5) Héctor Garza DQ Shocker

Hector not only had to deal with Shocker in this match, but also Shocker’s mom. She was seated at ringside, but chased Garza around the outside at one point. Garza still won – he tried to foul Shocker, Shocker blocked it and fouled him, and the ref saw it. Shocker challenged Garza to a hair match, but Garza just said no.

CMLL (TUE) 06/22 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine]
1) Disturbio & Semental b Camaleón & Robin
2) Dark Angel, Goya Kong, Marcela b Amapola, La Comandante, Mima Shimoda
3) Demus 3:16, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Tzuki
4) Delta, Toscano, Valiente b Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) Máscara Dorada, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Super Porky b Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Tzuki actually showed up! Demus got his team the win with a foul on Bam Bam, and wants either a rematch or a title match.

Rayo’s team won, and he and Atlantis are still teasing the mask match.

Sombra talks to R de Rudo about his Best of Super Juniors experience. As expected, Sombra highlights how he beat “the two top figures in Japan” (in Tiger Mask and Jushin Lyger.)

Dos Caras Jr. debuted in a vignette at last night’s SmackDown taping as the unmasked Alberto del Rio. Since it’s a vignette, it could still be edited off the show before it airs this week, but it’s most likely his debut.

LuchaWorld has video of Satanico vs Super Astro for the UWA light heavyweight title from 1985.

CMLL (MON) 06/28 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano, Silver, Tigre Rojo vs Espiritu Maligno, Mr. Rafaga, Siki Osama
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Leono, Trueno vs Bronco, Durango Kid, Inquisidor
3) Ángel de Oro, Rush, Stuka Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
4) La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Universo 2000 [WWA HEAVY]

Rayo has been champion for five years. Probably will be champion for another five years.

Puebla, Valiente, Taichi

CMLL (MON) 01/18 Arena Puebla [R de Rudo]
1) Mr. Rafaga & Policeman b Asturiano & SWAT
2) Bam Bam, Fantasy, Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
3) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Sagrado b Nitro, Nosferatu, Shigeo Okumura
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Valiente b Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca, Vangelis
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero b La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr.

Felino & Niebla fouled Somnbra & Volador and got away with it for the win. Tecnicos demanded a super libre match. Seems like a tag team title match coming up here.

Vangelis replaced Misterioso II in the semimain, where Mascara got Sangre with the campana. Ultimo Dragoncito replaced Tzuki in the minis match.

Ovaciones and ESTO both preview tonight’s CMLL card. There’s no particular story going into this one, though maybe it should be Garza continuing his win streak heading into Friday.

Fuego en el Ring talks to Valiente, who’s now the only Valiente. Hijo de Valiente and Valiente Jr. (“children of a friend”) had talked about using the name, but never actually got permission. After CMLL pointed it out, Valiente asked them to stop. They also have interviews with Rambo, La Comadante (who figures she got a promotion in Pierroth’s army, causing the name change) and Okumura. Okumura says he and Naito have been brainstorming ideas for Taichi. Judging from Naito on this weekends 52MX show, Taichi should definitely be concerned. NJPW officially announced Taichi, was headed to CMLL for an excursion. No word on exactly how long he’s meant to be in CMLL for, but it should be a while.

Record, LuchandoLibre, ESTO and R de Rudos have reports on the Perros show.

There’s lots of photos of this weekend’s Tijuana show over on flickr.

A new lucha libre commissioner was sworn in, in Juarez.

Blue Demon Jr. will be appearing on ROH’s Charlotte show. Kind of a surprise, because he was not that popular last time ROH used him, but they wanted a lucha name to help draw latinos.

Box Y Lucha #2957 hypes more Konnan vs Cibernetico. Or maybe they’re it’s just meant as a warning.

Cronicas y Leyendas writes about Rey Misterio & Juvi in Japan, Cien Caras vs Salomon Grundy (slightly different matches), plus Pirata Morgan taking Masakre’s hair, and Solitario taking Atila’s mask.

Segunda Caida writes about IWRG 11/26/09 and KrisZ’s news update

08/08: Coliseo, injuries

CMLL (TUE) 08/07 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Shockercito & Tzuki DQ Pequeno Violencia & Pierrothito
2) Arkangel, Loco Max, Nitro b Astro Boy, Molotov, Trueno
3) Nosferatu, Okumura, Skandalo b Mictlan, Stuka Jr., Super Nova
4) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Alex Koslov, Felino, Maximo
5) Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, Volador Jr. b Damian 666, Mr. Aguila, Terrible

Nosferatu got away with a foul on Stuka in the third. Tzuki’s mask was yanked in the opener.

CMLL.com reports Ultimo Dragoncito will be out 10 weeks because of an ankle fracture suffered on Saturday in Queretaro.

Ovaciones says Atlantis will return to the ring on Sunday, for his previously scheduled match in AC Guadalajara. I hope this means his injury was much less severe than it sounded and he’s not rushing back for a meaningless match, but I feel naive even hoping that.

The newspaper also says the AAA Heavyweight Tournament includes eight men, so we’ve got all the first round matches (unless they just mean eight men so far.) After reading AAA’s blog on the tournament, I’m now sure we’re supposed to treat the UWA Light Heavyweight, Mexican National Heavyweight, and IWC Heavyweight (and/or the Campeon de Campeons – that’s what it looked like the first time I saw it) as vacant and possibly defunct.

It doesn’t actually matter how AAA’s treated it’s titles in the past (or how CMLL treats them now), because the guy who made those decisions is gone and the new crew seems to have a different philosophy on these things. They’re rebooting the importance of titles by ditching all the olds one and creating a new one, and deserve the benefit of the doubt they’ll do something with the new belt.

Super Calo and Chris Stone visited Ovaciones’s office, at the same time. That’d be a far more amusing sentence if Chris Stone really had been doing the Super Calo gimmick. Anyway, the Stones hope to do the trios thing soon – perhaps they too can win a version of the Mexico State Trios titles.

indy (SUN) 08/26 Parque Deportivo Beto Avila
1) Apolo, Celestial, Conquistador vs Dr. Crimen, Practicante, Triple XXX
2) Huracan Ramirez & Huracan Ramirez Jr. vs Coco Rojo & Coco Verde
3) Hijo del Santo & Tinieblas vs Bestia Salvaje & Negro Navarro

Notiver’s preview article hypes that show as the first time Hijo del Santo & Tinieblas have ever teamed…in Veracruz. Somehow, I doubt even that.

CMLL IBARRA (SAT) 09/15 Salon Ferrocarillero de Frontera [Zocalo]
1) King Balam & Super Brazo vs Iviz Guajardo & Maniacop
2) LA Park vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Ultimo Guerrero, Blue Panther

I had not heard that four way were the In thing this summer.

06/12: Puebla, Hamadas, Lineups

CMLL (MON) 06/11 Arena Puebla [hugo999 @ box y lucha]
1) Forajido, Super Star, SWAT b Aguila Guerrera, Ares, Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Centella de Oro, Legionario, the Tiger CO Espiritu Malgino, Karissma, Toro Bill Jr.
3) La Sombra, Super Nova, Valiente b Dr. X, Negro Navarro, Nitro
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero b Atlantis, Averno, Mephisto
5) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila

Tecnicos won the main event in straight falls and want a shot at the Mexican Trios titles. Espiritu Maligno was hurt on a dive by the Tiger, which ended the match. Tiger kept attacking him as he was being carted off, which restarted a brawl with the rudos.

Madrea @ El Martiente has pictures of the AAA Merida taping on Sunday, though they’re still not up yet and not as much on results. He notes the building was full, but a lot seemed to be there only for Latin Lover. (So, that’s 8 comments at least.) Juvi didn’t wrestle, due to some sort of arm injury and Cuije was using a walker – maybe these things will make sense after hearing about the previous taping.

La Presna talks about Ayako Hamada debuting in AAA over the weekend, as well as “Angela from TNA”. (???) Gran Hamada is also starting with the promotion, and the article teases a Mixed Title title challenge.

Some fans were critical of Los Cinco Magnificos because Perro’s opposition seemed more talented, but lost on votes. Perro Aguayo Jr. defended his win, saying his team was the best.

Box Y Lucha #2822 has Mistico winning the LdP. Nice action photo too.

El Halcon #92 is up, with interviews with Maximo, Lady Apache and Tzuki.

The San Diego county fair will have (unspecified) lucha libre on Saturday and Sunday. According to the website, there’s two shows on each day, free with admission to the fair.

This article about marketing towards Hispanics includes a photo of Blue Demon Jr. throwing out the first pitch at a Dodgers game. Weird. (thanks to mikeinformer.)

Selected lineups below. Figure out the latest random Japanese youngster who’s wrestling in IWRG.

01/06: Mexico, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 01/05 Arena Mexico Results [Super Luchas, Galeno de Mal, ovaciones]
1) Mini Olimpico, Tzuki, Ultimo Dragoncito DQ Mini Damian 666, Mini Halloween, Mini Mr. Aguila
2) Lady Apache, Marcela, Sahori b Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
3) Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila b Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero DQ Atlantis, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Mistico b Averno

The cheap kids tickets filled up the arena, which telegraphs the main event finish. Check out the fall times for the main event, via Ocampo
1) 1:54
2) 3:11
3) 16:45

Uh huh. You can guess the finish, and it reads like a good match. Mistico challenged for the mask match again, and Averno was so frustrated, he accepted – but for the CMLL Middleweight Title match. That’s not on the schedule for next week, or at least so far.

Alexis posted the 01/12 lineup on box y lucha, and it’s off season-ish with no ongoing issues (though I can make up a few things.) Sangre and Koslov make it all the way up to the semimain (unless they ARE doing Mistico/Averno and they’re bumped down to a more reasonable spot.)

Other notes: Ultimo Guerrero fouled Dr. Wagner to draw the DQ in the semimain…Amapola had Lady Apache rolled up for the win in the second match (with a little help from the ropes), but Marcela turned over the pin. Amapola’s still looking for a title shot…Mini Damian yanked Tzuki’s mask to get the DQ in the opener.

airing on GdR
12/22 Mexico: Arkangel, Loco Max, Okumura b Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera
01/01 Coliseo: Heavy Metal, La Mascara, Volador Jr. vs Mascara Ano 2000, Terrible, Universo 2000
Unmasked: Black Warrior

It’s pretty impressive that I’m typing this, because I’m currently losing my mind. 12/22 was the taping that was never aired – except they absolutely positively had to go back to make sure we got our weekly match with those goofs (and not, say, just air the Volador/Averno match!) And that’s a Coliseo match which has like a 5% of being any good – did they save the main event for the non-existent FSE show? And the story of Black Warrior being unmasked, we sure haven’t heard about that any time recently, nooooo.

Why? Why? Is this spite? I’m sorry for whatever I did. Please stop.

Edit: Actually, that match is the same one they aired last week. Why? That makes even less sense.
