Gen 11 vs Vets cibernetico: a brief ranking of the Gen2011 wrestlers

Comando Clutch

Hijo del Signo as a rudo (though not the biggest upside)
Hombre Bala Jr.
Bobby Zavala (least certain)
Dragon Lee
Hijo del Signo as a tecnico (so of course he’s one half the time)
Enrique Vera Jr.
Magnus
Super Halcon Jr.

(Palacio Negro, Metal Blanco and everyone else you’re thinking of don’t count because the secret critera here is “Arkangel trainee.” Which may clue us in to who’s in charge of these matches.)

Super Halcon Jr. is so not ready for even openers. Magnus is ready for openers; makes a fine pair with Mortiz! Enrique Vera Jr. is ready for a promotion that doesn’t already have Rush because he’s basically the greener version. Dragon Lee is the most DTU wrestler in CMLL since Crazzy Boy. Hijo del Signo is the four year college basketball player, solidly fundamentally but no one believes he’ll carry a team. Bobby Zavala hasn’t been on my TV much. I genuinely believe there’s something in Hombre Bala that really may work out. Also, as interesting as this continues to be, I also genuinely believe that the absolutely last thing CMLL needed is seven more young wrestlers that they wanted to get over right away.

Delta, Toscano, Valiente vs Felino, Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura: I watched this a week ago, it was fine, I do not recall it at all. Everyone did about what they usually do, Valietne was great.

Gran Alternativa Teams Announced

CMLL.com’s gotta ’em

– Heavy Metal, Super Nova
– Dr. Wagner Jr., Mascara Purpura
– Negro Casas, Stuka Jr.
– Shocker, Valiente
– Marco Corelone, Flash
– Mistico, La Sombra
– Villano V, Super Comando
– Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia

Tournament will take place next week, June 29, which means we’ve had all of a two week gap between tournaments. (Only the Leyenda de Azul remains, unless they bring back the Gran Prix Trios tournament or something new.)

Mistico & La Sombra are obvious favorites, and Villano and Ultimo will almost have to run into each other at some point. Almost all are tecnico teams, which is a bit odd.

First guess…

Villano V, Super Comando b Heavy Metal, Super Nova
Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Marco Corelone, Flash
b Negro Casas, Stuka Jr.
Shocker, Valiente b Dr. Wagner Jr., Mascara Purpura

Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Villano V, Super Comando
Mistico, La Sombra b Shocker, Valiente

Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Mistico, La Sombra (though Mistico losing at this point seems impossible)

dark match wrestlers

I was excited to see Super Comando on FSE this week. Even with now 4 hours of CMLL TV on a weekly basis, the very opening guys (and the minis) rarely make TV appearances. Comando’s spot here was probably pre-planned fill in duty, but it was also the first time he’s wrestled on either b-show.

Super Comando’s made 8 main show appearances since 2003 (the earliest I have CMLL TV indexed at the moment, and help with that would be nice) and also last December’s PPV,. I don’t get to see those shows regularly, and I was kinda surprised to see how much he has been on TV when I looked it up.

It got me to thinking, if the TV universe has been expanded so Super Comando is on TV every other month, than who’s taking his place as a guy who’s on a lot of DF cards but never making it to air? Thankfully, I have a large database of CMLL results for reasons like this.

SINCE 2003-01-01, only including CMLL shows at Arena Coliseo and Arena Mexico
TV appearances include main show, PPVs and both GdR shows, but not the old LA show*

People with 0 TV appearances, at least 15 matches.

19: Mano Negra Jr. – gone from promotion
23: Halcon Negro – ?
24: Meteorix – ?
27: Alacrán De Durango – ?
28: Mini Fantasy – Mini
29: Último Vampiro – regimmicked?
30: Sicod̩lico Jr. Рgone from promtoion

41: Zetta – ?
45: Explosivo – ?
48: Reyes Veloz – ?
59: Guerrero del Futuro – off TV
77: Sombrita – mini
83: Bracito de Oro – mini
87: Peque̱o Violencia Рmini, tv match if I go back a little farther
111: Rayo Tapatío I
113: Rayo Tapatío II

I’m sure both Rayo Tapatios have appeared if I go back far enough, but this is a long dry spell.

Most matches with least TV appearances

1 appearance: Vaquero, 115 matches. (Fire has 113)
2: Polvora (132)
3: Flecha (108)
4: Sombra de Plata (128)

Lowest rate of appearance, at least 10 TV matches

06.1%: Ramstein (12 of 198)
11.7%: Tiger Blanco (18 of 154)
12.7%: Apocalipsis (21 of 166)
12.8%: Valiente (12 of 94) – this number looks to be improving rapidly
14.7%: Neutron/Metro II (19 of 129)

Highest rate of appearance, at least 10 TV matches (aka Guys Who Don’t Work Tuesday Coliseo)

93.6%: Marco Corelone (44 of 47)

88.6%: El Hijo del Perro Aguayo (132 of 149)
88.5%: Kenzo Suzuki (23 of 26)
83.4%: Hector Garza (96 of 115)

(Groon is 7 of 8. Kid Tiger is 3 of 4!)

Most TV appearances
184: Ultimo Guerrero (301 matches)
165: Atlantis (289 matches)
164: Rey Bucanero (267 matches)
143: Mistico (222 matches)
141: Dr. Wagner Jr. (241 matches)

141: Negro Casas (281 matches)
132: Perro Aguayo Jr. (149 matches)
129: Universo 2000 (229 matches)
129: Tozcano (229 matches)
129: Averno (243 matches)

* – I don’t know why I don’t have this show in the database, but I should fix it. Weeks were there’s no TV records skew things. Stellar moments are not counted. Matches which air twice (Best Of) are counted twice. Naturally, numbers are as accurate as I can make them, but surely not 100%.

06/10: Perro wins, Accion, FSE

As expected, Perro Aguayo Jr.(/Mr. Aguila’s) team won the contest on Los Cinco Mangificos. They were down on points last week, and I’m not sure how they did there this week, but they easly won the votes – 42,000 to 25,000 according to the thread on ByL. The winning team gets a donation to a charity; I believe Perro’s was AIDS research.

Accion:

CMLL: LdP Final, of course. It looked okay in the 15 seconds of highlights they showed. Both Mistico and Aguila went for handsprings in the end, but Mistico locked on La Mistica and that was it.

AAA: Elgido/Alebrije/Porky vs Psicosis/Kenzo/Head Hunter I – odd pick. Oh, because Head Hunter killed Cuije with a splash. Porky get in his revenge splash, but Psicosis still ended up winning with a top rope senton. Psicosis still appears to be wearing his Mexican Powers gear, but with a black t-shirt.

CMLL FSE #43
06/03: Brillante Starman, Trueno, Valiente b Apocalipsis, Ramstein, Súper Comando
06/03: Mascara Purpura, Maximo, Volador Jr. b Satanico, Texano Jr., Virus

If you had asked me “Which will happen first, Super Comando actually makes TV in a full match or the Latin Lover argument in the comment ends?”, I totally would’ve lost. Not that I have any hope of that argument dying. First time no Mexico match on either B show in two months.
