Mascara vs Averno, unfriendly TRT, Polvora & Delta advance, Suicida shaved

CMLL (FRI) 05/13/2011 Arena Mexico [CesarCMLLRecord]
1) Artillero, Mortiz, Súper ComandoHöruz, Robin, Trueno
Rudo win, taking 2/3. Trueno took Mortiz’s spanish fly. Robin had a poor night.
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Loco Max, SkándaloÁngel Azteca, Ángel de Plata, Pegasso
Rudos took 1/3.
3) DeltaRey Escorpion [Forjando un Idolo, quarterfinal]
Crowd got into this match. Rey Escorpion tried to cheat again, but Ultimo Guerrero stopped him and Delta eventually took the win. Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Escorpion had real problems after this one, shoving each other on (and off) the ramp.
4) PólvoraHijo del Signo [Forjando un Idolo, quarterfinal]
Hijo del Signo was the last Group Alfa (Negro Casas) member standing. He lost, and Polvora becomes the second group Delta (Blue Panther) member to get thru.
5) Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro, Stuka Jr.Euforia, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
Bonus match, added midweek (but not publicized.) Probably not airing.
6) Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, TerribleMáximo, Super Porky, Toscano
Rudos won, but Terrible & Bucanero turned on Zacarias and Negro Casas post match. Members of Fuerza TRT do not want anything to do with other rudos.
7) Averno, Ephesto, Último Guerrero DQ Blue Panther, La Máscara, Máscara Dorada
Rudos won in straight falls, with La Mascara angrily ripping off Averno’s mask in the second fall. More mask/mask challenges.

AAA (FRI) 05/13/2011 Arena Neza [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Montana Infernal & Muercielado NocturnoÁngel Mortal Jr. & Marabunta Jr.
2) Black Lancer, Okawa, Vampiro MetailcoCarta Brava, Hermano Muerte II, Hermano Muerte III
3) Mari Apache, Octagoncito, Pimpinela EscarlataMini Chessman, Polvo de Estrellas, Sexy Star
Mari replaced Fabi.
4) Neza KidMike Segura [hair]
Mike Segura lost his hair, so the mystery of Neza Kid lives another day (though it’d be more of a mystery if he wore a shirt and covered up his shoulder tattoos.) Ultraviolent match, though the finish was Suicida suplexing Neza Kid three times, reaching to pick up Neza again, and being cradles for the three count.
5) El Mesías, Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown Bestia 666, Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, X-Fly
X-Fly was over here instead of the TV taping. Monster Clown hurt his ankle and fought in one shoe for a while. Mesias gave Perro a backcracker for a clean win!

Crowd looks pretty decent, strong by Arena Neza standards. Curious to know who the ‘local’ promoter is.

The lucha news was dominated by WWE’s show in Mexico City, and their announcement of television tapings in Palacio de los Deportes this October. WWE will record Raw on October 15 (Saturday) and SmackDown on October 16 (Sunday). With tapings finally happening, the new dangling carrot was maybe running WrestleMania in Azteca Stadium (but they probably need to work on airing something live first.) CMLL tends to run a mid level show the second week of October and AAA runs the Heroes Inmortales show in early October, so this may affect both of their plans.

At the press conference, Big Show said Alberto del Rio reminded him of an actor, like Frank Sinatra (?) but he’s ugly and should go back to wearing a mask. I want to watch movies with Sin Cara.

Perros del Mal are calling their anniversary show PerroMania XIX.

Ras de Lona included an interview with Hombre Bala Junior and Senior. Good to see Senior on his feet. They actually sort of mentioned Psicosis’ poor outcomes in title matches (biased refereeing, naturally) and Psicosis talked about his upcoming international matches (including Lucha Libre USA, which I believe is the first time they’ve actually mentioned that group by name here; Marco was also spotted in the brief about Shocker’s restaurant opening.)

Looks like the CMLL TV changes from last week were not a one time thing; CMLL Fox is airing matches from last Friday, so LATV is likely getting the Mex trios title match today.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 05/17/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Leo vs Black Metal
2) Metatrón & Virgo vs Acertijo & León Blanco
3) Último Dragoncito vs Pierrothito
4) Delta, Diamante, Metro vs Ephesto, Scorpion, Vangelis
5) Hijo del Fantasma, Sangre Azteca, Toscano vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Odd to see a singles non-title minis match here, but they’ve actually done this same match here twice in 2008, splitting the results. They’re 3-3 versus each other in singles matches all time.

CMLL (FRI) 05/20/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Robin vs Bronco & Inquisidor
2) Dark Angel, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Estrellita, Tiffany
3) Delta vs Pólvora [Forjando un Idolo, semifinal]
4) Ángel de Oro vs Fuego [Forjando un Idolo, semifinal]
5) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Texano vs Metro, Super Porky, Valiente
6) La Máscara vs Averno
7) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Rush

Not too big of a surprise that match is not a title match; it hasn’t been about the title. Wish they’d put their big singles matches in the main event spot.

Back when Rey Bucanero was added to Peste Negra, it was because they needed another man. Mr. Niebla was not around. Mr. Niebla is back now, but history indicates we should not expect him to stay around forever. Yet, CMLL doesn’t seem to be concerned at all now, making sure we know Bucanero is split from the group. I hope that’s a positive sign about Niebla, but I wonder if it means they’re much less concerned about keeping Peste Negra going or they’ve got a new member planned.

Interestingly, Ras de Lona had Shocker in Mascara Dorada’s place. Must’ve been some hope he’d been back this week. Should be soon.

09/25: IWRG, GDL, Panther

CONTRERAS (FRI) 09/19 Arena San Jauna Pantitlan [the gladiatores]

1) M1, Mini Rey del Espacio, Pegaso Boy b Malevolo, Mini Head Hunter I, Mini Head Hunter II
2) Luis Cirio, Manny Cirio, Tony Cirio b Carica, Coco Rosa, La Chona and Fulminante & Miserable and Muerte Negra, Rey del Epsacio, Soldado del Futuro [CONTRERAS TRIOS]
3) Batman, Dinamico, Hombre Arana b Dr. Karonte, Ex Mosco de la Merced, Mosco de la Merced
4) Infinito, Ogun, Ricky Ricon, Super Muneco b Hijo del Cien Caras, Ice Killer, Monsther, Pierko el Boruica
5) El Hijo Del Santo, Intocable, Juventud Guerrera b El Dandy, El Hijo del Solitario, Zumbido

Zumbido and Solitario screwed up, and the tecnicos rolled to the win.

IWRG (SUN) 09/21 Arena Naucalpan [joshyman @ el Martinete]
1) Eragon b Rey Estruendo
2) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II b Anubis & Heavy Boy
3) Black Terry, el Hijo del Pierroth, Monsther b Aeroman, Freelance, Jack
4) Capitán Muerte, Cyborg, Xibalva b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) el Hijo Del Anibal, Multifacético, Tinieblas Jr. b Head Hunter I, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Zumbido

Head Hunter actually pinned his teammate MY2K Jr. after he and Anibal switched masks on the floor. The Death Squad beaing the Oficials to set up the Oficial getting a title shot makes no sense to me.

CMLL (SUN) 09/21 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Plata b Azazel
2) Depredador & Güero Loco b Idolo & Oro II
3) Casanova, Flash, Metal Blanco b Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno, Sangre Azteca
4) Gallo, Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr. DQ Malefico, Mascara Magica, Toxico (Guadalajara) [torneo, final]
5) Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Villano V b Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Marco Corelone

In the main, V5 slipped in a foul on Panther. In the semimain, rudos got caught doing the same, and decided they might as well rip up the tecnicos masks if they’re already DQed. This sets up something lightning quick for this upcoming Sunday.

Everyone must’ve talked to Blue Panther after Tuesday’s show, because there’s a few different articles which all seem to be from the same conversation
Notimex has Panther saying he was overconfident and that caused him to lose. Now, he doesn’t still have the mask, but he still is Blue Panther. Panther was nervous about the reaction of the crowd, but it’s been positive.
– In ESTO, Panthers says this is a new beginning of his career, he still needs lucha libre and lucha libre still needs Blue Panther.
– Meanwhile, Mephisto wants to take Panther’s hair and then retire him for good. Mephisto also thiks he and Averno should be tag team champs, because they’re great and they’re not injured all the time.

Shocker thinks he’ll be back in CMLL soon.

(SoloLuchas) Mike Suicida Segura says he’s not going to WWE because he doesn’t have his visa. You know, same thing happened to me – I was totally going to be booker for Arena Coliseo (12 week Corelone/Olimpico feud on the schedule), but I don’t have a passport and we all just decided that was an obstacle which could never possibly be overcome. It’s sad, really. Suicida says he’d like to get into CMLL or AAA. Interestingly, when he’s asked possibly going for the the IWRG Lightweight title, he says he’s heard there will soon be a tournament for a NWA Lightweight championship and he’ll be involved.

Mini Charly Manson wants a shot at Mini Abismo Negro’s mask. It’s good to want things. SoloLuchas also has a random bio of Electroshock, the only Mexican in the Foriegn Legion. (Zorro’s from Spain.)

The Gladiatores also has an interview with the Cirio brothers.

KrisZ’s news update from yesterday.

There’s a lucha libre art exhbit in Austin, TX this weekend.

CMLL (SUN) 09/28 Arena Coliseo de Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Ebola
2) Idolo & Nube Roja vs Exterminador & Güero Loco
3) Casanova & Stuka Jr. vs Cien Caras & Infierno
4) Terrible & Texano Jr. vs Máscara Año 2000 & Universo 2000 [OCCIDENTE TAG]
5) Gallo & Hijo del Fantasma vs Malefico & Máscara Mágica [hair, mask]
6) Blue Panther vs Villano V

First singles meeting since the mask match between those two. It’s the rudos putting their hairs on the line versus tecnico’s masks. I don’t know why either team wants the western tag team titles when I think about it, but okay.

CMLL (TUE) 09/30 Arena Coliseo de Guadalajara
1) Milenio vs Quazar
2) Impostor vs Egipcio
3) Samurai vs Depradador
4) Metatron vs Super Maquina
5) Metal Blanco & Palacio Negro vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
6) Dos Caras Jr., Leon Blanco, Rayman vs Cien Caras Jr., Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000
7) Último Dragón vs Negro Casas

That would’ve been awesome in 1991.

CMLL MEDI CRIT (SAT) 10/04 Gimnasio de la UAT [Dr. Coloso IV @ LMdlL]
1) Astro Boy & Metalik vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Mascarita Dorada & Tzuki vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween
3) Máximo, Oro Negro, Shocker vs Baby Lover, Bronco III, Loco Castillo

I presume Shocker’s working this show as an indpendent. The poster lists this as a TV taping.

07/20: IWRG, Mexico Lineup

Most unhelpful teaser ever: IWRG’s Thursday card featured new champions!

IWRG (THU) 07/19 Arena Naucalpan
1) Misterio Verde & Tortugillo Ninja b Macho II & Rockero del Diablo
2) 911, AK47, Fierro b Kai, Sasaki, Yamato [EdM TRIOS]
3) Black Terry DQ Fantasma de la Ópera [IWRG IC WELTER]
4) Cyborg, Kraneo, Xibalva b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Suicida [IWRG IC TRIOS]
5) Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Hijo del Solitario & Pierroth [IWRG IC TAG]

Hijo del Solitario replaced Hijo de Pierroth in the main event, and perhaps that was the difference. Probably not.

The new IWRG IC Trios police officers are the Escuadron de la Muerte, as opposed to the police officers who won the Estadio de Mexico trios titles in the segunda who are the Oficiales. No one’s cleared up that Mexico State trios title confusion yet.

Fantasma lost his title via DQ thanks to something Yamato did – I think he just alerted the ref to the shenanigans.

CMLL (FRI) 07/20 Arena Mexico
1) Moltov & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) India Sioux, Luna Magica, Marcela vs La Nazi, Medusa, Rosa Negra
3) Felino, Mascara Purpura, Maximo vs Misterioso II, Satanico, Virus
4) La Mascara, La Sombra, Marco Corelone vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr. vs Damain 666, Hector Garza, Terrible
6) Mistico & Negro Casas vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Ultimo Guerrero [CMLL TAG]

Arena Mexico preview: NotiMex, ESTO, Ovaciones. ESTO also interviews Sombra, and they explain that the name is supposed to be a reference to Oro. A Mistico/Oro hyrbird, that’s no pressure at all. They’ve got a recap of Tuesday’s hair match as well. ESTO branches out from CMLL coverage as well, interviewing Krator (who’s starting in IWRG – weirdly, this interview is listed as from Brazil) and picks up a La Paz AAA spot show preview from another paper in it’s network.

CMLL (THU) 07/19 Feria de Durango [El Siglo de Durango]
1) Andy Rock & Estelaris b Chilango (Durango) & Nocturno
2) Camaleon, Gran Mysterio, Milenium b Guerrero Inca, Mulato, Oso Negro
3) Alacran Asesino, Espacial, Negro Sosa b Angel de Oro, Cabllero Negro, Psycko
4) Groon XXX, Mascara Sagrada, Rayman b Angel Blanco Jr., Cien Caras Jr., Texano Jr.

This is the show that followed these guys visiting the cancer ward.

AAA (WED) 07/18 Auditorio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi [Sol de SLP]
4) Cinthia Moreno & Oriental b Miss Janeth & Zumbido [AAA MIXED TAG]
5) Alan Stone, Head Hunter I, Mesias b Antifaz, Gronda II, Intocable

Antifaz replaced La Parka Jr. The change was announced, and refunds were offered (so they learned from Mistico!), but there still were a couple of angry trouble makers in the crowd according to the paper. Antifaz turned on Intocable to cost the tecnicos the match. Miss Janeth replaced Tiffany – doesn’t confirm anything, but does work along with those rumors about Tiffany – and somehow the rudos cheated in such a manner, they won the match but the local comissioner and the promoter came out to overturn the decision. Oriental got stretchered out after the match, which may have had to do with the finish.

AAA (FRI) 07/27 Plaza de Estrellas
1) La Parkita & Martha Villalobos vs La Hechicera & Mini Abismo Negro
2) Crazy Boy & Joe Lider vs Chris Stone & Histeria
3) Billy Boy, Brazo de Plata Jr., Super Porky vs Gran Apache, Super Calo, Zumbido

This is a company party/15 year plaque dedication/small anniversary show. AAA lists “Friday”, which could mean today or next week. I’m guessing. Good to know Chris Stone is employed by the company. Calo is listed as Calo here – and look, Chris and unmasked Calo at the same place as the same time. This would seem to indicate they’re different people.

FCW has a nice new website, with pics from the show last weekend and video from before the cage match.

Ovaciones interviews Veneno, who claims the people are demanding he turn tecnico. I would like to meet these people. Veneno also talks about his side job designing gear. Veneno gives out his cell phone number too, which is not the way I’d go. I don’t think I’m going to put Veneno’s phone number on the internet forever and ever, so you’ll have to go Ovaciones before the page disappears tonight.

(Comic Book Resources) “Lucha Libre”, a comic book about five LA men who decide to take back their neighborhood by putting on masks, will debut from Image Comics in September. The series has apparently been running in Europe for a while, but this’ll be it’s US debut. It looks good.

Milenio Torroen writes about a 900 piece lucha libre exhibition at the 2007 Gomez Palacio fair.

05/29: IWRG TV clearance, injuries

In today’s Ovaciones, IWRG announced they’ve been picked up by television station in PCTV, who will be in charge of recording the shows. Shows start taping on 05/29, with a show from Arena Solidaridad.

IWRG (TUE) 05/29 Arena Solidaridad

– La Mascara: hand fracture (4 to 6 weeks)
– Sahori: left knee strain (15 days)
– Marcela: hip (10 days)
– Tarzan Boy: knee pain (2 days)

CMLL (FRI) 05/25 Arena Neza Lineup [Rudos de Neza]
1) Brazo Jr. & Kid Tiger vs Dr. Trauma & Puma King
2) Pequeno Olimpico & Shockercito vs Pequeno Violencia & Pierrothito
3) Starman & Tigre Metalico vs Dr. X & Nitro
4) Felino, Maximo, Volador Jr. vs Olimpico, Ramstein, Tarzan Boy
5) Rey Bucanero & Shocker vs Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero

Shining Road notes mysterious new AJPW wrestler Yamada has been selling Hijo de Pierroth merchandise at the shows, which would seem to indicate that it’s him under the mask (who else would want it?) But, we’ve got Hijo de Pierroth working the 05/15 Coliseo show at the same time as that tour. Maybe it’s Pierroth Jr.?

IWRG (SAT) 05/19 Deportivo Moctezuma [KrisZ]
1) Golem b Puma King
2) Ninja de Fuego & Pegaso (indy) b Comando Mega & Volcan Negro
3) Antaris, Hombra Arana, Pegasso (indy) b Kraneo, Rambo Jr., Vampiro Metalico

5) Celestial b Bacteria [hair]
6) Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone b Misterioso Jr. & Universo 2000

04/10: Parka Jr., IWRG, Monterrey, Puebla,

cmll

La Parka Jr. will be out an extended period of time due to injury. He’s got an interview today in La Presna, where he explains he was driving to Zamora but a tire blew out and things got worse from there. Parka Jr. thought he had a spine injury at first, but it turned out to be just a shoulder. The article, via translation, says his right shoulder is “completely destroyed”, but then also says he’s going to start rehabbing it soon, so I’m not sure the extent of it. He’ll be out a few weeks at least, and should be considered off any upcoming cards.

IWRG (SUN) 04/08 Arena Naucalpan
1) Puma King b Golem
2) Antaris, Cyborg, Turbo b Trauma I, Trauma II, Vampiro Metlico

4) Fantasma de la pera b Suicida [IWRG IC WELTER]
5) Damin 666, Halloween, Hijo de Cien Caras b Alex Koslov, Electro Shock, Marco Corelone

Title match went to a fourth fall after the third was a double DQ. Yamato got busted open in his match, but rallied back to win, and the description says that sets up a hair match between these two teams, but it’s not in the cards for this week.

IWRG (THU) 04/12 Arena Naucalpan

4) La Mscara, Mstico, Negro Casas b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Shocker b Universo 2000

Loco Max hurt his ribs on a dive. Mistico pinned Averno clean with La Mistica; the rudo fans here were chanting “SANTO” at him as a taunt. I don’t know how that actually works. Shocker beat Universo with a foul.

El Heraldo de Chiapas has an interview with Tiffany. Her goal for the year is to take Fabi and Estrellita’s hair.

On a radio show, Mascara Ano 2000 said his ‘kids’ would be debuting in CMLL in late May.

Another article about the lucha libre expo here.

The Monclova is threatening to drop the hammer on local luchadores, according to Zocalo. Out of the 45 local wrestlers, only 1 has gotten licensed. They’ve got 11 days left till the deadline, OR ELSE. I don’t recall anything actually happening when the Torreon ByL commission threatened the same.

No Perro; he way way overbooked this day. No Rayman either, and much of the undercard was shuffled and changed. Yamato and Masada feuded. The recap was a little surprised that Japanese people would fight each other. Suicida and Fantamsa agreed to a title match.

They’re taking Thursday off for Good Friday (?), so the next show is Sunday.

5) Alex Koslov, Lizmark Jr., Shocker DQ Atlantis, Máscara Año 2000, Último Guerrero

Shocker filled in for Marco, so he does still know how to get to Arena Puebla. Rudo fans chanted at him to go back to AAA. Loco Max snuck in a foul on Coco Rojo in the tercera, and there were challenges for a hair match.

In Tabasco, the Acuario promotion is suspending activity, claiming the local commission, the building owners, and the other local promotion are working together to make it impossible for them to run shows without losing a bunch of money. At least they figured this out and stopped running shows.

Hijo de Cien Caras, Cien Caras Jr., and Angel Blanco Jr. were MIA from this card. The newspaper report says they were pulled due to the Santo/CMLL fall out. I’m thinking those three aren’t being booked by CMLL, but would like to be.

LUCHAS 2000 (SAT) 05/05 Arena Mexico [Santo Rey]
1) Cerebro Negro vs Danger, Extreme Tiger, Flash, Freelance, Leono, Mascara Purpura, Mictlan, Super Nova, Texano Jr., Valiente, Virus [ciber]
2) Hijo de Rey Misterio & Rey Misterio Sr. vs Stuka I & Stuka Jr. and Misterioso II & Misterioso Sr. and Volador Jr. & Volador Sr. [torneo]
3) Hijo de Mascara 2000 & Mascara 2000 vs Hijo de Lizmark & Lizmark Sr. and Cien Caras & Hijo de Cien Caras and Rayman & Rayo de Jalisco [torneo]
4) Villano III vs ? [hair]

This is the annual Luchas 2000 show, though they’ve been held at Arena Coliseo previously. I’m not completely sure if that’s supposed to be two different tournaments, or one combined one. It’s a father/son thing, though in some cases that’s not true – the Stukas are brothers, one much younger than other. Hijo de Mascara 2000 is a new (fake?) son of Mascara Ano 2000, not the one who’s been in IWRG. Rayman and Rayo teaming together is interesting – you think it’s possible it’s a new Rayman?

Not sure what the deal is with the main event, if someone’s losing their way in to that spot or what.

Is Dragon still running on the 12th? That’d be back to back three show weekends.
