1) Alan Extreme & Vampiro Metálico b Dragon Fly & Tritón
2) Black Terry, Chico Che, Hijo de Clímax DQ Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, El Pollo Asesino
Comando Negro fouled Black Terry for the DQ. Those two are feuding.
3) Oficial AK47 b Multifacético
Dr. Cerebro was busy losing in AAA, so Oficial AK-47 took his place here. Bloody match, Oficial won.
4) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Fresero Jr., Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Máscara Año 2000 Jr.
Fresero Jr. was bloodied, had a drink thrown in his face, and stumbled over to Psycho to be finished off.

Also: Kid Psycho Clown.

CMLL Press Conference

Averno & La Mascara had a scrum at press conference, which included Jose Luis Feliciano getting knocked off the stage. Being a CMLL programmer is a rough job right now. Averno vowed to add his name to the (long) list of people who have unmasked members of the Alvarado family.

There was a few discussions about the Forjando un Idolo, with the final tonight. Rey Escorpion apologized to Ultimo Guerrero, so I guess they’re friends again. Blue Panther and Negro Casas continued to challenge each other. There was talk about the individual groups sticking together; this doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, because they were never really allies, always intra-group rivals. Forjando un Idolo would’ve been more interesting if we actually saw the mentors working with their four students and got the idea that this was a union outside the matches, but that was never shown.

Record has an interview with Angel de Oro hyping up the tournament and tonight’s final. He’s the clear favorite.

Anyway, the interesting bit is Negro, Panther, and UG were all there, but Shocker was not (though Delta & Guerrero Maya were there representing.) CMLL took away Shocker’s NWA LH title at this press conference, which gave him another reason to be here, but he was not. Seems suspicious. Fuego en el Ring has an interview with Shocker in Guadalajara, so he could’ve just been out of town at the wrong time. This press conference seemed to be rushed, only announced an hour before it happened.

Dorian Roldan congratulated CMLL for booking an apuesta match the day before TripleMania. Maybe a bit of sarcasm there.

On Colt Cabana’s podcast, Mad Man Pondo says he’s coming to Mexico in June. That sounds like DTU, but I thought they were off until July.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 05/31/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Javier Cruz Jr. vs Metalik
2) Black Metal & Leo vs Infierno & Ráfaga
3) Goya Kong, Lluvia, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Tiffany
4) Metro vs Rey Escorpion
5) La Sombra, Strong Man, Toscano vs Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, Shinsuke Nakamura

That singles match should be interesting.

Park vs Pirata (juniors), Averno/Dorada

IWRG (SUN) 02/13/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), The Gladiatores, Al Filo del Ring]
1) Imposible & Tonatiuh b Fulgore I & Fulgore II
quick falls
2) El Pollo & Eragon DQ Hammer & Magnifico
Pollo turned on Eragon after Eragon accidentally hit him a few times. Ref waved it off as a DQ. Pollo appeared to join the rudo side after the match.
3) Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Eterno b Alan Extreme, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic
Comando Negro reversed a roll up and grabbed the bottom rope to beat Alan Extreme. Alan shoved the ref for blowing the call. Eterno suffered a wrist injury catching a dive at the end. Golden Magic, replacing the billed Goleador, appears to be a new name.
4) el Ángel, Multifacético, Veneno b Avisman, Destroyer, El Hijo del Diablo
Destoyer’s girl Sherry got involved as usual. She teased kissing Veneno in the third fall, Veneno knocked her away, but Diablo still pinned him.
5) Bobby Lee Jr., Hijo de LA Park, Trauma I b Bestia 666, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Hijo de Pirata Morgan
Bobby Lee Jr. replaced Hijo del Pantera. Rudos took the first, tecnicos the second, and Park beat Pirata for the win.

Al Filo del Ring has an interview with Los Gringos.

CMLL (MON) 02/14/2011 Arena Puebla [SporTimes]
1) Black Tiger & Tigre Rojo b Sauron & Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Camorra, Fuerza Chicana, Robin b Camaleón, Freesbe, Lestat
Robin filled in for Zayco. Despite being on the wrong side, he still won. This was Camaleón’s debut in Arena Puebla, and he seems to be showing up much more frequently this year.
3) Sangre Azteca DQ Misterioso II, Loco Max, Ares, Vangelis, Stuka Jr., Sagrado, Metro, Fuego, Delta [cibernetico]
Ares replaced Nosferatu. No order of elimination. Much like Tuesday’s cibernetico, it came down to two guys on the same team. This time, it was feuding Sangre Azteca and Misterioso. Misterioso yanked Sangre’s mask for the rare DQ finish to a cibernetico.
4) Euforia, Pólvora, Virus b Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush
Virus snuck in a foul on Rush for the pin. Rush demanded a rematch for next week, and Virus accepted.
5) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky DQ Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
Rudos took the firs, tecnicos took the second, Averno yanked Dorada’s mask in the third fall.

R de Rudo has a really good interview with Heavy Metal about his life long love of music. Metal believes Arena Naucalpan, in the late 80s, was the first lucha libre arena to use entrance music. The building also doubled as an  skating rink (!!) so they had the music and lights already set up.

12/23: Minis Cage Match, Poder Mexica

CMLL held a newsworthy press conference today. There will probably be a few more background quotes in the days to come, but it seems worthwhile to focus on the news items tonight.

The next Sunday special show at Arena Mexico will be 01/11 and be called La Hora Cero. As a special main event, and working off feuding in recent minis matches on Sunday, there will be the first CMLL Cage Match of Mini Estrellas. The loser will lose their mask. Panico was not definite on a lineup, but Pierrothito, Mini Universo 2000 and Mascarita Dorada talked at the press conference and are in for sure. CMLL.com adds Shockercito, Mini Olimpico, Pequeno Ninja, Pequeno Warrior and Acero de Oro, which makes 8. 8 is about normal for this sort of cage match, but it’s minis so who’s to say what normal is. I can’t think of any more mini rudos who still have their mask, though.

This, in fact, would probably be the main event minis match I was talking about on Sunday. Who could’ve known. Women keep on waiting.

In more ticket selling news, CMLL officially announced Guadalajara’s First Sunday Of The Month discounted ticket deal and mentioned Arena Puebla would be doing the same thing on the First Monday of the month.

The other news was Sangre Azteca delivering on his idea of forming a group. It’s called Poder Mexica, and it’ll be Sangre Azteca, Black Warrior and Dragon Rojo Jr.

“Poder Mexica” translated to Mexico Power. Sound familiar? (Besides the ex-Boricua guy!) I’m going with the idea that this is CMLL/Sangre being completely unaware of what AAA is doing than a purposeful rip. Either way is very silly, but Sangre Azteca’s been promoting that name since he left the Guerreros so we’re likely stuck with it. (And we’re surely getting the Mexican Powers back in force in AAA just so they can prove they were there first.)

If you check out Sangre’s website, you’ll notice that it’s actually open and it already has a link for this group. I wonder if the website was done before the announcement of the group was ready.

I like the makeup of the group. They’re not three similar guys, really three guys at very different career points, but three guys who’s strengths and weaknesses balance out pretty well. My concern is how they fit in the greater rudo sphere:

Current Rudo Factions
Pesta Negra: Negro Casas, Felino, Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla
Guerreros de la Atlantida: Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero
Villanos: Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V
Hijos del Averno: Averno, Mephisto, Ephesto, Texano Jr., Terrible
Poder Mexica: Sangre Azteca, Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr.
Infernales: Satanico, Euforia, Nosferatu
Tuareg: Nitro, Dr. X, Loco Max, Skandalo, Hooligan, Arkangel

7! We may be overpopulated here. I mean, it’s easier to write the list of notable people who are not in groups.

* Lizmark Jr. (who’d be in one of he was around long enough)
* Virus (who is essentially the fourth Infernal)
* Okumura (who is foreign and therefore doesn’t count – hey, I didn’t make up the rules)
* Vangelis (who no one would want in their group)
* Misterioso II

Alex is right! Anyway, I know this is for sure different, I just don’t know if it’s good or bad. I would think forming a 7th group wouldn’t be a good idea if you have six other ones, but at least this one seems to have some thought behind it.

At the same time, there’s zero tecnico groups. There’s Garza’s thing where no one knew who was in it and no one remembered it a week later. There’s Mistico’s idea for a group (and it’s funny to think Sangre Azteca has enough pull to form a group but Mistico does not), but there’s an obvious disinterest for tecnico groups by CMLL programmers. There’s no other obvious reason it’d be so lopsided. This whole format reminds move of a Japanese setup, where you various heel groups and one company tecnico army led by the company ace to fight them. The difference is those groupings are usually tightly adhered to, while it’s an exception for a tercera or higher rudo side to be completely members of one group or another. Maybe that’ll change – they seem to be going this way with keeping the Hijos del Averno together.

Getting back to Sangre Azteca – the idea of the guy who probably would’ve won ‘most underutilized’ multiple times if I was doing these awards in the late 90s and early 00s now leading an important faction (not La Alianaza) is pretty cool.

09/29: Guadalajara, Monterrey, Coliseo

It sounds like wrestlers going on strike to protest TV Azteca airing WWE SmackDown on Friday may be more than idle chatter and have some substance to it. Something to watch this week, with the premire this Friday.

CMLL (TUE) 09/23 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll]
1) Milenio b Relampago Azul
2) Virgo b Ebola
3) Samurai b Rafaga
4) Exterminador b Magnum
5) Flash b Infierno
6) Damián 666 & Mr. Águila b Leon Blanco & Stuka Jr.
7) Atlantis & Último Guerrero b Alex Koslov & Héctor Garza

LLF (FRI) 09/26 Arena Femenil de Monterrey [josedjesus @ el martinete]
1) Angelica b Dreamer [LLF Juvenil, toreno, qf]
2) Perla Negra b Hija de Karonte [LLF Juvenil, toreno, qf]
3) Dama de Hierro b Wendy [LLF Juvenil, toreno, qf]
4) La Bandida b RBD [LLF Juvenil, toreno, qf]
5) Dama de Hierro b Angelica [LLF Juvenil, toreno, sf]
6) Perla Negra b La Bandida [LLF Juvenil, toreno, sf]

CMLL (SUN) 09/28 Arena Coliseo [CMLL, Ovaciones]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Goddess, Princesa Blanca, Sahori b La Nazi, Medussa, Mima Shimoda
3) Máscara Púrpura, Tony Rivera, Valiente b Loco Max, Sangre Azteca, Satánico
4) Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas b Damián 666, Mephisto, Mr. Águila
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone DQ Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero

Lizmark fouled Dos yet again in the main event.

In the tercera, Sangre Azteca played the part of Halcon Negro this week and surely regretted it. That picture over there is a still of a Valiente dive gone horribly wrong, and both he and Sangre were strechered out. The CMLL.com report says it was only a scare, but that’s pretty scary. This also overshadowed the angle they were running – Tony Rivera vs Loco Max is indeed on for a hair match next week.

This morning, there was a note confirming this on CMLL.com, noting Tony’s past long winning streak in these matches and Loco Max’s bad performance. It’s disappeared since about 11AM CST.

Ovaciones writes about the Halcon Negro situation. They’re under the belief Halcon Negro is actually supposed to show up each and every week and keeps no-showing.

CMLL (SUN) 09/28 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
4) Terrible & Texano Jr. b Máscara Año 2000 & Universo 2000 [OCCIDENTE TAG]
5) Gallo & Hijo del Fantasma b Malefico & Máscara Mágica [hair]
6) Blue Panther DQ Villano V

Panther had Villano in the armbar and V5 must’ve not been countering it this time because Terrible & Texano had to run in for the DQ. Gallo & Hijo de Fantasma did not lose their masks. Phew. It’s not like I was expecting the Dinamitias to win the tag team championships of the West (because, why?), but it’s still is surprising to see them lose any time they don’t have to at this point.

Atlantis has a new offical site at Atlantis.

(Mr. Reyes) Looks like the Oficials won the IWRG Trios title last night.

Al Filo del Ring has a Shocker interview from Guerreros del Ring (the magazine) – not a lot new: considers himself on leave with CMLL and desperately wants to go back, doesn’t like the AAA using the Guapo name but has no issues with the guys themselves – and one from Scorpio at his benefit show, where he hoped to return to the ring by Novemeber.

Aguila Solitaria would like to return to Arena Mexico for a few retirement matches.

Notimex has a story about Bolivia’s Cholitas.

CMLL (MON) 09/29 Arena Puebla
1) Astruriano, Centella de Oro, Tiger Rojo vs Fuerza Chicana, Mr. Rafaga, Toro Bill
2) Black Tiger, Blue Center, Legionario vs Fire, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Alex Koslov, Máximo, Mictlán vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
4) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
5) Blue Panther vs Villano V

Pierrothito brings the lightweight title back to Puebla! Also another Panther/V5 rematch and the trios champs teaming up in a non title match (though Ovaciones thinks we should expect a title match next week.)

Second on the card on Wednesday in
Nuevo Laredo this week: Spiderman vs Batman.

08/03: (old) Tijuana, Oaxaca

The Gladiatores #49 has a double issue, with IWRG, Tijuana, Villalobos and other stuff. I’d wish they list the date for all the shows – the Rey de Reyes are date unknown – but maybe that’s just important for my purposes.

CMLL (SUN) 07/15 Auditorio de Tijuana [the Gladiatores]
1) Mascara Negra b Conde Murcielago
2) Black Spider, Cinico, Hadez b Calavera, Deja Vu, Mr. Maldito
3) Extasis, Silver Star, Star Boy b Kid Azteca, Pandillero I, Pandillero II
4) El Camaleon, Hijo de Rey Misterio, Rey Misterio b Atlantis, Blue Panther, Sangre Azteca
5) Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Alex Koslov, Rey Bucanero, Sagrado

Semimain set up a Sangre Azteca title defense vs Hijo de Rey Misterio, though I don’t know the date.

BAJA STAR (FRI) 07/20 Auditorio de Tijuana [the Gladiatores]
1) Army & Pitbull b Black Leather & Rey Divino
2) Deja Vu & Eclipse (TJ) b Mr. Maldito & Tucan
3) La Ola del Terror b Colibri, Kimura, Ninja
4) Ricochet b Shamu [BAJA AMERICAS]
5) ?, Arandu, Mortiz b Hijo del Kiss, Kiss, Kiss Jr.
6) Electro Shock, Pierroth Jr., Super Parka b Incógnito, LA Park, Rayman

That’s a title change. They’re setting up to a trios hair match in the semimain.

CMLL (WED) 08/01 Domo de la Feria de Leon [am.com.mx]
3) Heavy Metal, Místico, Rey Bucanero DQ Averno, Máscara Año 2000, Tarzan Boy

Article says show sold out. Averno replaced Ephesto, and tossed his mask at Mistico to draw the DQ in the second fall, so Mistico paid him back by doing the same in the third.

CMLL (SAT) 08/04 Ciudad de la Canteras, Oaxaca
1) Challenger Jr., Fantasma Blanco Jr., Rey Lobo b Endeavor, Jungla 3000, Vuleo Espacial
2) Lady Apache & Luna Magica b Hiroka & Mima Shimoda
3) Shockercito & Ultimo Dragoncito b Mini Violencia & Pierrothito
4) Mephisto b Mictlan, Super Comando, Artillero, Averno, Ephesto, Leono, Mascara Purpura, Sombra de Plata, Flash, Starman, Valiente [ciber]
5) Mistico & Sagrado DQ Mr. Aguila & Perro Aguayo Jr.

[Noticas Oaxaca]

In the main event, a fan passed Perro a cane, which he used to win the first fall. Perro fouled Mistico in the third. The counted the pin, but only to get Perro off of Mistico, awarding the match to Mistico. Cibernetico came down to Leono, Averno, and Mephisto. Surprisingly, Leono was eliminated, and Averno & Mephisto celebrating like they’d won. Nope, they were forced into fighting each other, and Mephisto came out on top.

CMLL (MON) 08/06 Arena Puebla
1) Blue Center, Forajido, Zigma vs Aguila Guerrera, Espiritu Maligno, Mr. Rafaga
2) Coco Blanco, Coco Rojo, Coco Verde vs Blade, Siki Osama Jr., Skandalo
3) Lady Apache, Luna Magica, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero

Ovaciones and ESTO talked this week about the CMLL Minis celebrating 15 years of existance. I believe they played a soccer game in celebration, and that needs to be on the internet. I just want to know what rudo schemes Mini Familiar de Tijuana cooked up to cheat.

El Diario NY talks about lucha libre, seemingly to hype up AAA on the Warped Tour. We’ll have to see how this goes in the long run, but I think the idea of putting AAA guys on this tour to gain some public awareness is working. It’s no huge deal, but little write ups in papers as they go thru the country is worth losing access to Decnnis for a couple months.

At Lo Mejor de Lucha Libre Caballero Lee rips Tuesday’s ACM show.
