09/01 (2): GDL, Tijuana, 10 man cage match, CMLL Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 08/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy b Milenio
2) Metatron b Güero Loco
3) Pequeño Damian 666 b Bam Bam
4) Atenea & Lady Apache DQ Amapola & Hiroka
5) Damián 666 b Leon Blanco
6) Terrible & Texano Jr. b Rayman & Sagrado [OCCIDENTE TAG]
7) Atlantis & Último Guerrero b Marco Corelone & Sombra

Sombra replaced Mistico, and the rudos snuck in fouls for the win. Perros won clean, tripping up Sagrado on a springboard attempt to get to the finish. Mini Damian not only beat Bam Bam with a Black Hammer, but snuck in the fifth match to foul Leon Blanco and help the larger version win. Amapola got DQed for excessive violence on Lady Apache, which surely hurt their teamwork on Friday.

indy (FRI) 08/29 Auditorio de Tijuana [superluchas]
3) Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo b LA Park & Super Parka

Parkas were out of control in this match, getting DQ for ripping up the tecnicso masks and excessive violence, to the point where the comission warned them they’d stop the match if they didn’t settle down. (Park said something along the lines of not coming to Tijuana to play with dolls.) Tecnicos took in straight falls when Super Parka attacked the ref, allowing Santo to sneak in a foul and take the win. There’s tease of a Santo/Super Parka hair/mask match. Santo took Parka’s mask, back in 2003.

CANCION (SUN) 08/31 Centro de Espectaculos La Cancion de Tutltitlan [superluchas]
1) Anticristo, Excalibur, Toxico b Cerebro Negro, Fantasma de la Ópera, Men
2) Hermano Black Shadow I & Hermano Black Shadow II b Guerrero Siam & Tailandes
3) Super Calo L Intocable and El Fantasma and el Hijo Del Anibal and Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. and Solar I and Dr. Wagner Jr. and Zumbido and Lizmark Jr. and Toscano [cage, hair]

As everyone suspected, Super Calo lost his hair. Intocable winning it is no shocker either. They ran an angle where Zumbido hit both guys with a chair being the second to last guy out, so I guess there’s a feud here somewhere.

Sololuchas has full results of the AULL show.

CMLL (FRI) 09/05 Arena Mexico
1) Angel de Oro, Flash, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Skandalo
2) Máximo, Metalik, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Virus
3) La Máscara, Mictlán, Sagrado vs Damián 666, Dragon Rojo Jr., Mr. Águila
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Último Guerrero
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Volador Jr. vs Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

don’t they need to announce Wagner/Niebla for the masks ASAP if they’re going to do it? They keep hinting in that direction.

Even more Mictlan/Dragon Rojo. Even more UG/Blue Panther. Panther/UG would obviously mean more in a mask match, but I don’t think UG/V5/Panther would mean significantly more since no one’s going to believe Ultimo Guerero is losing his mask to one of those two.

CMLL (SUN) 09/07 Arena Coliseo
1) Astro Boy & Sombra de Plata vs Cholo & Soberano
2) Fabián el Gitano, Máscara Púrpura, Tony Rivera vs Halcon Negro, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Amapola vs Lady Apache [CMLL WOMEN]
4) Grey Shadow, La Máscara, Sagrado vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Black Warrior, Último Guerrero

Lot ‘o Guerreros.

For some reason, I thought Lady Apache already won this title. That certainly makes the finish on Friday make more sense to me. The question now is, is Apache getting the hair and the belt or was this a 50/50 split?

Maybe someone thought “you know what, we really need another guy for this Tuareg group to really put them over the top (in the segundas). Anyone have Halcon Negro’s number?” Let’s go with that.

Of course, this real news is Cholo appearing. I don’t like his shot at getting his first win. Soberano appears to have shortening his name.

Juvi was interviews on the uh, an audio show who’s name isn’t specifically mentioned on the F4 recap nor is a link given, oops and says he’d like to get in CMLL. I’d like to be President. (No, I wouldn’t.)

They’re writing as many stories in Spain after the CMLL Spain tour as they were during it.

Odd convergence: an Incredibly Strange Wrestling memoir on a Wired.com blog. Everything with ISW is an odd convergence.

Luchaworld has Robert on ’05 IWRG, ACM and AAA TV

3 hours of AAA TV is like watching a weekly house show… it’s so fantastic. I can’t even begin to imagine how amazing CMLL would be with a weekly 3 hour time slot covering a match from Arena Coliseo and the entire Arena Mexico show.

Things change!

05/31: Guadalajara, Monterrey, AAA/Warped Lineup (take 2)

CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 05/27 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll]
1) Fraile de La Muerte b Casanova

5) Leon Blanco & Rayman DQ Cien Caras Jr. & Hijo de Cien Caras [torneo, final]
6) Pierroth, Shigeo Okumura, Terrible b Dr. Wagner Jr., Lizmark Jr., Shocker

Better version of the results – Lizmark did turn on his partners. That Rayman/Cien tag feud goes on, though no title match is announced.

1) Milenio b Virgo

CMLL (SUN) 06/03 Arena Solidaridad

2) Diluvio Negro I, Diluvio Negro II, Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Black Warrior, Olimpico, Terrible
3) Caifan I vs Estrella Dorado [hair]

AAA (SUN) 06/03 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Ciclone & Mercurio vs Akido & Euforia (Monterrey)
2) Orus & the Mummy vs karis & Ramses
3) La Parkita, Mascara Divina, Virtual X vs Mini Psicosis, Monje Negro Jr., Rey Infernal
4) Super Astro & Zorro vs Aventurero & Hator
5) Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz

Ovaciones has an interview with Extreme Tiger. He vows to make each match better than his last. Ovaciones also lists the second series of CMLL action figures: LA Park, Shocker, Damian 666, Hijo de Lizmark, Olimpico, Black Warrior, Averno, Mephisto, and KeMonito.

This preview of the Warped Tour says the AAA wrestlers are Mini Charly Manson, Mini Chessman, Super AAA, Angel, Psicosis and Deccnis. (Scroll about 2/3rds of the way down – right before the freak show.) A trios match and two minis makes a bit more sense, though it’s a tiny crew anyway.

(El Sol de Tijuana) Medico Asesino Jr. says he’s going to go into promoting events, teaching and writing after he retires from wrestling.

Tabasco Hoy‘s short article about 15 years of AAA is notable just for the weird lists of “AAA stars” and “LLL stars”, which are just a bit off. Apparently, the Air Force stretches between groups, not to mention Vampiro would be pretty surprised to find himself back in AAA. Newspaper fact checking is a funny thing.

05/23: Coliseo, La Parka Jr., LdP change, NWA tournament, AULL anniversary show, Guadalajara, Monterrey

CMLL (TUE) 05/22 Arena Coliseo [ova]
1) Mini Olimpico & Ultimo Dragoncito b Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween
2) Sensei, Stuka Jr., Trueno b Artillero, Jeque, Super Comando
3) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico, Tony Rivera b Dr. X, Loco Max, Nitro
4) Ephesto, Okumura, Sangre Azteca b Fabian el Gitano, Felino, Mictlan
5) Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000 DQ Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr.

Main event was all pushing Ultimo Guerrero vs Volador Jr., with Ultimo ripping Volador’s mask and faking a foul for victory. In the segunda, Starman was replaced by Stuka, and Jeque filled in for Ramstein, so the Jeque/Stuka feud was back for at least one night.

In it’s recap of AAA’s 05/20 TV Taping, Ovaciones states La Parka Jr.’s rehab is not going well, he’s not close to being cleared, and will be out longer than expected.

This week’s Leyenda de Plata lineup has changed. As expected, Mistico is out of the tournament itself, moved to the main event in Marco Corelone’s spot (so they can begin teasing Aguila/Mistico for 06/01.) Sagrado takes his place, and since we’re not actually rebooking anything after lineup changes, he’s the heavy favorite to win. Texano replaced La Mascara, who’s out hurt.

Sicodelico Jr. will be part of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. (Oddly, there’s a video promo with Nicho challenging for the belt, but not Sicodelcio. Plans change.) It’s a 16 man tournament, and he’s got to face someone named “Roughneck Ryan”, who’s theoretically one of the top 16 contenders in all the world despite being named “Roughneck Ryan”. Also, I’m not sure why two guys from the Texas area are having a first round match in Tennessee, but them there’s the breaks. If Sicodelico Jr. moves on, and gosh I hope he doesn’t lose to Roughneck Ryan, he’ll probably face Claudio Castagnoli and I would totally endorse that match happening. If Sicodelico Jr. wins the NWA Title, I think we’ll have to change the “Did the Gran Alternativa win lead him onto bigger things?” bit on the wiki to a Yes.

The word on the street – people all over the streets are talking about the NWA title tournament, naturally – is Byran Danielson will win end up winning the tournament. (Though now that even I know, it’ll be switched.) In a recent interview with Figure Four, Danielson talked a bit about wanting to do a stretch of wrestling in Mexico to learn how to wrestle lucha – he’s worked one Toryumon Mexico show, but that’s about it. If Bryan Danielson wins the NWA Title, CMLL absolutely must bring him in, because that’d be the awesomest thing possible ever. I’d be cool too if it was Claudio or Sicodelico and I’d understand if Danielson’s NOAH tieup means he’s got to AAA (because that’d could brilliantly insane), but just the concept of Danielson with the NWA Heavyweight Belt taking on, say, Mistico would be so fun, and probably draw. I think the NWA name actually might mean more in Mexico than it does in the US, because the Light Heavyweight title has fared quite a bit better than Heavyweight one over the last 18 years.

AULL (SAT) 05/19 Arena Lopez Mateos [KrisZ]
1) Tortugillio Ninja I, Tortugillio Ninja II, Tortugillio Ninja III b Pequeno Porro I, Pequeno Porro II, Pequeno Porro III
2) Haku, Mr. Potro, Yakuza b Angel de Fuego, Infierno, Kilvan
3) Epidemia & Robin Maravilla b El Solito & Psicopata [AULL TAG]
4) Sepulturero I b Hermano Sepulturero [name]
5) America Salvaje, Rey Krimen, Sadico b King Star Tiger, Mano Negra Jr., Terry 2000
6) Dos Caras Jr., Vampiro, Volador Jr. b Hijo de Cien Caras, Hijo del Cien Caras, Universo 2000

There’s a billion photos of this show over at El Martinete. AULL will be hosting a benefit show for El Signo on 07/01, who needs money for spinal surgery.

CMLL (SUN) 05/20 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [KrisZ]
1) Casanova b Flama
2) Exterminador & Metatron b Destroyer & Rey Trueno
3) Rayman b Sagrado, Flash, Gallo, Metal Blanco, Cien Caras Jr., Mr. Trueno, Toxico, Malefico, Infierno [ciber]
4) Damian 666, Mr. Aguila, Terrible b Hijo de Lizmark, Vampiro, Volador Jr.

In the main, Terrible pinned Vampiro once again after a foul. Rayman & Sagrado want a shot at the Cien Caras Junior brothers Occidente Tag titles.

AAA (SUN) 05/20 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [rfc]
1) Mercurio & Virtual X b Ben Hur & Guerrero Negro Jr.
2) Ramses (ACM) & the Mummy b Karis & Orus
3) Estrellita, Hombre Sin Miedo, Octagoncito b Hechicera, Mini Chessman, Rey Infernal
4) Aventurero, Hator, Histeria b Angel, Brazo, Pimpinela
5) Charly Manson b Alan Stone

Pimpi is hurt, obviously so, and worked anyway.

indy (FRI) 06/01 Auditorio de Tijuana
1) Sparks vs Conde Murcielago
2) Pandillero I & Pandillero II vs Hijo de Kendo & Super Rino
3) Rubi Gardenia & Torando Negro vs Diamantina & Enfermero Jr.
4) Ku Kluk Klan I & Super Muenco vs Hijo de Rey Misterio & Ninja [ri]
5) Blue Demon Jr., Medico Asesino Jr., Rey Misterio vs Cien Caras Jr., Espectro Jr., Nicho

This is being promoted at Medico Asesino Jr.’s retirement match.

Medio Tiempo has a long interview/biography of Cibernetico on their site. Being an antihero and all, he doesn’t understand how parents would allow their children to be fans of his, though he gets why kids might be fans anyway.

(Notimex) A new lucha libre gym was opened in the Jardin Balbuena section of Mexico City.

Either this week’s GdR review or the opener y’all want to hear about will be posted later tonight – that’s the plan, anyway.

04/16: Coliseo, Guadalajara, Monterrey

Jeque unmasked
via Ovaciones

CMLL (SUN) 04/15 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones, alvin @ el martiente]
1) Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Mr. México b Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metálico, Tony Rivera
2) Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II b La Máscara, Leono, Mictlán
3) Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Máximo, Sagrado, Texano Jr.
4) Stuka Jr. b Jeque [mask]
5) Lizmark Jr., Místico, Rey Bucanero DQ Atlantis, Black Warrior, Último Guerrero

Jeque is Marrio Moreno Garcia, from Mexico City, and he’s been wrestling for 25 years. Third fall finish was a bit odd; Stuka got the pin, but Jeque popped back up, continued fighting, got his valagueza, and covered – and the ref counted three, before awarding the match to Stuka. Jeque complained after the match that Stuka’s pinfall was only a two count, and declared his mask loss to be a robbery, but unmasked because he’s a professional. It’ll be interesting to see how that comes off on TV. This match didn’t do anything for attendence, but then I’d be shocked if it did.

Warrior fouled Mistico in the main event. The Lizmark Jr. seems to be off, again. I will now communicate my anger about this in exclamation points: !!!!!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! !

Not only did the Perros beat the Mexican Trios champs, but Damian tried to out Maximo Maximo himself! Harsh.

CMLL (SUN) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [El Occidental]
1) Estrella de Jalisco & Neon ?? Fraile de la Muerte & Imposter
2) Guero Loco & Valentin Mayo b Azazel & Carlo Roggi
3) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Metal Blanco & Metatron
4) Nitro & Sangre Azteca b Gallo & Metro II
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Rayman, Shocker b Mascara 2000, Toxico, Universo 2000

Toxico replaced Cien Caras Jr., and Rayman replaced Rayo de Jalisco (hmmm).

CMLL (SAT) 04/14 Palenque de Gallos de la Feria Chipas [El Heraldo de Chipas]
1) Murcy Jr. b ?
2) Americano, Bugambilia, Guerrerito Zulu b Angel Maligno, Psicopata, Sangre de Aguila
3) Capitan Furia, El Mexicano, El Terrorista b Dragon Negro, Guerrero Zulu, Halcon Samurai
4) Tzuki & Ultimo Dragoncito b Pequeno Violencia & Pierrothito
5) Mistico & Volador Jr. b Black Warrior & Ultimo Guerrero

AAA (SUN) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Panterita del Ring II & Rey Imagen DRAW Apolo Negro & Euforia (Monterrey)
2) Ares, Karis la Momia, Orus, The Mummy b Ben Hur, Escorpio Negro, Guerrero Negro Jr., Rey Infernal
3) el Angel & Martha Villalobos b el Brazo & Tiffany
4) Alan, Billy Boy, Decnnis b Angel Mortal, Gallego, Mr. Condor
5) Elegido, Intocable, Mascara Divina b Aventurero, Espiritu, Hator

ESTO‘s recap of Friday’s Arena Mexico show says the women’s match was boring. In Notimex‘s article, Perro Jr. declares that any time he loses via a foul, it’s a win for him, and Mistico wishes he was a rudo. They also talk to the winners, where Negro explains it’s his years of experience which allows Mistico and himself to work as great partners despite never actually teaming with each other.

El Manana’s Martiente column is about – uh, I’m not sure. He’s not happy with promoters for some reason; I can’t figure it out.

02/07: Rayo

While we’re pointing you to the Super Luchas content, we might as well discuss the Rayo de Jalisco Jr. interview. It’s interesting
– Rayman is a non entity; Rayo opts not to even mention his name when talking about the situation. The story Rayos’ going with now (which may be right for all I know), is Rayman was just some guy Rayo thought he’d help out of the kindness of his heart. That guy acted unworthy of the Rayo de Jalisco name (Rayo does not explain how), so it was taken away from him. Rayo says they’ll try again with a new one, maybe in five years, but they need time to distance from this failure. Rayo doesn’t like that he’s being portrayed as the bad guy in all of this and is planning to call a press confrence to clear this all up.
– He hasn’t been around CMLL because he’s been so busy being an international superstar, he doesn’t quite have time for a national promotion like CMLL. Rayo says he was going to be on the anniversary show, but had a tour in Germany. (Maybe that was Groon’s spot?)
– He’s had offers from AAA – once to appear at a show in Guadalajara as a surprise wrestler (not sure which taping), and he
was close to signing in September (this must’ve been TripleMania, where the other Groon filled in) – but they haven’t come to an agreement.
– Rayo’s opening a website in a month. I’m going to guess that he’ll not be the first luchador to have a worthwhile website.

Let me tell you, it’s fun to be a cynical person who trusts nothing and believes less.

Freelance beat Avisman for his hair on Sunday in Naucalpan.

As teased on last Sunday, Mistico and Black Warrior will indeed meet in a singles match this Sunday. No title is listed on the line.

Guerreros del Ring #73 has Santo.

12/29: Coliseo, Gudalajara, AAA, Tijuana, SLP, Monterrey

cmll.com

CMLL (TUE) 12/26 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Karissma, Sombra de Plata b Carrona, Vaquero
2) Sensei, Starman, Valiente b Artillero, Super Comando, Zayco
3) Apocalipsis, Dr. X, Ramstein b Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera
4) Nitro, Sangre Azteca, Terrible b Danger, Texano Jr., Virus
5) Averno, Mephisto, Olimpico b Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Sagrado

Odd to see Karissma working tecnico. Carrona is an unmasked guy who can never seem to face the camera when they’re taking a picture. Danger replaced Mictlan – CMLL hasn’t posted anything on his injury. Terrible cheated to help his team win that match. You see how Averno won the main event.

This would be the perfect time of year to run an Arena Coliseo Tag Team Title tournament.

CMLL (TUE) 12/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Results
1) Virgo b Impostor
2) Neon b Flama
3) Antrax b Valentin Mayo
4) Nube Roja b Danger (Guadalajara)
5) Egipcio b Super Maquian
6) El Gallo, Metro II DQ Mascara Magica, Toxico
7) Hijo de Pierroth, Okumura, Pierroth b Rayman, Rey Bucanero, Satanico

In the main event, Rayman had Pierroth pinned, but there was no ref. Someone from the crowd pounded the mat three times, and Rayman assumed that must’ve been the ref. Pierroth fouled him and got the win.

AAA LG (WED) 12/27 Unidad Deportiva Miguel Aleman Valdez Results [El Sol de Bajio]
1) Enigmatica L Polvo de Estrellas and May Flowers and Cinthia Moreno and Rossy Moreno and el Piero [cage, hair]
2) Charly Manson b Zorro [MEX HEAVY]
3) El Elegido, La Parka Jr. b Abismo Negro, Chessman

Before the show, the first match was listed with just the Morenos and the Exoticos, and I was amazed they were actually having a ‘star’ lose their hair at a spot show. Apparently, I’m a mark.

BAJA (MON) 12/25 Auditiro de Tijuana Results [the gladiatores]
1) Phantom, TG Power, Spank b Mascara Negra, Wama, El Galeno
2) King Azteca, Fobia, Pandillero II, Fabuloso Hernandez, Karisma, Cien Caras Jr., Pierroth Jr. b Pandillero I, Tornado Negro [blindfold, sf]
3) Pandillero I DRAW Tornado Negro [blindfold, final]
4) Angel Blanco Jr. b Super Astro [WWA MIDDLE]
5) Rey Misterio Sr., Hijo de Rey Misterio b Super Parka, Nicho
6) Mil Mascaras, Rayman, Shocker DQ Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila

The 2/3 matches were probably just supposed to be one – it was one of an escape elimination match (you pin someone, you’re leave) with everyone wearing blindfolds. The last two guys somehow ended up in a draw. The writer called it ‘the match of the year’, not because it was that good, but because it seemed to go that long. The Blanco/Astro match was good and there were apuesta challenges in the Misterio/Nicho/Parka match.

indy (MON) 01/01 Arena Mexico San Luis Potosi Lineup [Sol de SLP]
1) Sombra del Misterio vs Leopardo [Centro WELTER]
2) Cholo Mayor, Danys Boy, Lagarto vs Tigre del Ring, Mensajero, Creazy Star
3) Sabu Jr., Black Fantasy, Fuerza Maligna vs Super Liger, Goblin, Brujo Cosmico [Centro TRIOS]

indy (SUN) 01/02 Arena Coliseo Monterrey Lineup
1) Burrito vs Corazon Adicito
2) La Kalaka & Nacho Libre vs Ejecutor & Mixteco
3) Golden Boy vs Vudu
4) Mascara Pupura vs The Beast
5) Estrella Dorada Jr. vs Potro Jr.
6) Pancho Tequilla vs Humberto Garza Jr.
7) Dulce Poly vs Bandida [FILL FEMENIL]

The Beast’s manager? La Bella. They’ve been doing a mixed tag feud involving the two women in the main event, but it’s surprising (to me, anyway) that it ends up with the women and not the men in a big match.

This is the odd picture of someone in an Olimpico mask on the main page of Bell South‘s website. It’s a teaser for a Weird Jobs article, but they don’t list “luchador”.
