06/07: not much

CMLL.com

I think Corelone is holding Mistico’s fourth belt there, unless he like won the IWRG Heavyweight Title and no one knows about it, which isn’t impossible.

Marco Rivera is saying that if the card he posted isn’t the actual card for TripleMania, he’ll retire from lucha libre. I still want confirmation, wrestling retirements don’t do it for me.

CMLL (MON) 06/11 Arena Puebla
1) Forajido, Super Star, SWAT vs Aguila Guerrera, Ares, Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Centella de Oro, Legionario, the Tiger vs Espiritu Malgino, Toro Bill, Toro Bill Jr.
3) La Sombra, Super Nova, Valiente vs Dr. X, Negro Navarro, Nitro
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Averno, Mephisto
5) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs Damain 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila

CMLL actually posted a Puebla lineup for the first time in about two months.

Mr. Aguila has an interview with Ovaciones. He says he’s been really busy, but it hasn’t affected his performance at all. Uh huh. You know, with the finals of Los Cinco Magnificos this Sunday, he’s not going to have much for the LdP final, even if it might be the biggest win of his career.

Ovaciones has plugged a couple of sites a couple of times laterl.
* elcuadrilatero.com.mx – some of the links don’t work, the multimedia section looks familiar, but there’s some lineups I haven’t seen elsewhere
* staffdeportivo.com – which has had the same Kenzo article for a while

Atlanta Latino has an interview with El Hijo del Santo.

Still haven’t seen results from Tuesday’s Coliseo – I know Robert said Mini Olimpico retained.

05/15: Mistico to return tonight?, La Parka Jr. to return tommorow?, Puebla, Magazines

Ovaciones reports Mistico will wrestle tonight in Palenque de la Feria de Celaya, Guanajuato. This is far ahead of the most optimistic return, which means all that praying paid off for Mistico or he decided “screw it” and is going to be wrestling in pain for quite some time.

The lineup is something like

CMLL (TUE) 05/15 Palenque de la Feria de Celaya
1) ? & Ultimo Dragonicto vs Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween
2) Dark Angel & Lady Apache vs Amapola & Princesa Sujei
3) La Mascara, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Damian, Halloween, Mr. Aguila

CMLL

According to an interview with the promoter in El Sol del Bajio, La Parka Jr. will defintely return for his show tomorrow in Ceyela. I guess no one wants to miss a date in that town?

A post on Box Y Lucha says Pimpinela will be out 2-3 weeks due to injury.

PYVC (SUN) 05/13 Poliforum Zamna de Merida [Yukacoolgráfico @ elmartinete]
1) Buitre Lee & Dr. Siniestro b Panther Boy & Rey Persa
2) Espartano, Lizmark Sr., Proverbio b Blade, Cachorro, Chupacabras
3) Black Soul b Titanick [OLX HARDCORE]
4) Dr. X, Eclipse, Mictlan b Cachorro Jr., Pierroth, Pierroth Jr.
5) Damián 666, Halloween, Universo 2000 b Marco Corelone, Super Parka, Villano III

This was supposed to have a Hijo del Solitario vs Villano III super libre bout, but Solitario hurt (arm? shoulder? something where he needed to use a sling!) and Villano III replaced Shocker, who appears to have gone AWOL. They did offer refunds for those who wanted, but judging from the pictures, they didn’t draw that much to start with.

CMLL (MON) 05/14 Arena Puebla [hugo999 @ box y lucha]
1) King Jaguar & Super Star b La Mafia & Mr. Rafaga
2) Fuerza Chicana, Toro Bill, Toro Bill Jr. DQ Forajido, SWAT, the Tiger
3) Loco Max, Misterioso II, Virus b Centella de Oro, Leono, Tigre Rojo
4) Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila b Ares, Fureza Chicana, Sangre Azteca
5) Averno, Mephisto, Texano Jr. b La Mascara, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr.
6) Marco Corelone, Negro Casas, Ultimo Dragon b Atlantis, Jushin Liger, Ultimo Guerrero

4th match was an unannounced random bonus match. I think Marco pinned Guerrero, but whatever happened, it sets up a singles match for next week.

Ovaciones says El Hijo del Diablo will replace Lizmark Jr. in Coliseo tonight. Which means Diablo, who hasn’t worked CMLL in as long as I can recall, is lined up to work as a tecnico. Strange. I’m thinking that was a typo.

A blog entry on Milenio complains about the state of lucha libre. Hector Garza is quoted as complaining that wrestlers don’t need to know how to fight and just need a pretty face, a good body and know how to dance. Sure sounds like he’s talking about himself, based on his recent work.

Magazines:
Luchas 2000 #368 is all highlights from their show.
Guerreros del Ring #87 has Mascara Sagrada on the cover
El Halcon Net #90 has interviews with Santo, Texano Jr., and Brillante, and the first part of a story about Gimnasio Ham Lee. Brillante is 17!

Canek chats on Box Y Lucha tomorrow.

IWRG’s site is still down. No Sunday or Tuesday Coliseo results.

Can someone explain the Dr. Morales/Brazos thing?

05/14: Toryumon, IWRG cage of death, scattered results and lineups

TORYUMON GYM (SUN) 05/13 Arena Mexico [ovaciones]
1) Bryan Lee & Toshiya Matsuzaki b Arkangel de la Muerte & Daisuke Hanaoka
2) Hiroka & Mima Shimoda DRAW India Sioux & Marcela
3) Amigo Suzuki & Hijo de Fantasma b Dr. Karonte Sr. & Negro Navarro and Gino Gabino & Joe Potter

Title match went 27 minutes. Corelone replaced Mistico. Video highlights are here, via Black Terry Jr.

(Strong Style Spirit No lucha guys in this year’s NJPW Super J tournament. I guess it’s better than getting my hopes crushed again. Hirooki Goto is also not scheduled, so he’ll be around for a while longer.

IWRG EXPO (SAT) 05/05 Centro Banamex [Alfonso Lizarraga @ The Gladiatores]
1) Samba & Venom b Avisman & Macho II
2) Coco Blanco, Coco Rojo, Coco Verde b 911, AK 47, Fierro
3) Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Villano III, Villano IV b Fabain el Gitano, Mascara Sagrada, Negro Navarro
4) Halcon Salvaje L Veneno, Pierroth Jr., Enterrador 2000, Villano V, Bestia Salvaje, America Salvaje, El Dandy [cage, mask]

Veneno unmasked Halcon Salvaje, who’s Mateo Alcantara Villafuerte, 14 years a wrestler from Mexico City. Gladiatores has tons more from the Expo, if you’re looking.

AAA IDS Lineup (THU) 05/10 Plaza de Toros La Comiteca de Comitan [El Heraldo De Chipas]
1) Astro Azul, Divino, Spike b Furia Infernal, Tigre Jr. (Guatemala), Trivial
2) Cinthia Moreno & Sexy Star b Fabi Apache & Tiffany
3) Capitan Furia, Mexicano, Terrorista b Alan, Billy Boy, Decnnis
4) Brazo de Plata, Oriental, Super Calo b Alliens, Chris Stone, Espiritu
5) Alebrije, El Elegido, Intocable b Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido

They built up a Terrorista/Super Calo feud thru the show, with Calo wanting to replace Billy in the Barrios Boy match but Terrorista refusing to allow it to go down, and Terrorista showing up to attack Super Calo in the semimain. Tiffany hurt her shoulder in the second fall of her match. This seems to be a continuing interview.

AAA (SUN) 05/13 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Ben Hur & Euforia (Monterrey) b Panterita del Ring & Rey Imagen
2) Karis, Orus, Virtual X b Apolo Negro, Ares, the Mummy
3) Cinthia Moreno & Oriental b Monje Negro Jr. & Rossy Moreno
4) Crazy Boy & Psicosis II DQ Aventurero & Laredo Kid
5) Alan Stone, Antifaz, X-Pac b Charly Manson, Chessman, Octagon

CMLL LLA (SAT) 05/12 Arena Monterrey [RFC]
1) Electrico & Mini Fantasy b Mr. Aguilita & Pierrothito
2) Astro Boy, Maximo, Stuka Jr. b Arkangel, Loco Max, Virus
3) Mephisto, Misterioso II, Tarzan Boy b Alex Koslov, Lizmark Jr., Silver King
4) Atlantis, Averno, Ultimo Guerrero b Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucanero, Shocker
5) LA Park, Super Parka, Volador Jr. b Damian 666, Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila

Lots of subs on the show, with Mistico, Perro and Negro Casas all missing, and the announced women’s trios opener instead turning into a minis tag. Attendance was 7,500, lower than the last show.

Marco Corelone is interviewed in the Miamia Herald and comes off very well, like a man who has a plan. (thanks to mike informer)

(Milenio Mexico City) Blue Demon Jr. is opening a store, although he’s hyping it as a cultural gallery, complete with his own artwork.

(Cambio Sonora) A new local group called Liga Municipal de Lucha Libre is starting in Hermosillo.

Notiver has an interview with police officer who’s a part-time wrestler. He says he wrestled as Bronco in Veracruz, and is now under a different mask.

Magazines
Luchas 2000 #367 has Mistico’s injury.
Box Y Lucha #2818 has Ultimo’s Gran Prix win.

Some random lineups for this week:

CMLL (MON) 05/14 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) King Jaguar & Super Star vs La Mafia & Mr. Rafaga
2) Forajido, SWAT, the Tiger vs Fuerza Chicana, Toro Bill, Toro Bill Jr.
3) Centella de Oro, Leono, Tigre Rojo vs Loco Max, Misterioso II, Virus
4) La Mascara, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Mephisto, Texano Jr.
5) Atlantis, Jushin Liger, Ultimo Guerrero vs Marco Corelone, Negro Casas, Ultimo Dragon

So Liger was staying till Monday but didn’t work Coliseo? (I think, haven’t seen those results.) I guess he just didn’t want to work a double shot on Sunday, which seems fair.

CMLL (TUE) 05/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Virgo vs Milenio
2) Exterminador vs Fraile de la Muerte
3) Golden vs Imposter
4) Ebola vs Depredador

4) Dandy, Negro Navarro, Tony Rivera vs Enfermo Jr., Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Pierroth Jr.
5) Black Warrior, Dr. Cerebro, Stuka Jr., Suicida vs CIMA, Don Fuji, Masato Yoshino, Naruki Doi [copa High Power 2007]

911, AK47, Fierro are the latest iteration of the Oficials. Not sure where CIMA is the rest of the week. Everyon needs a vacation.

indy (THU) 05/17 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacion [Siglo de Torreon, Milenio Torreon]
1) Mago I & Scriba Jr. vs Fuego & Insolito
2) Aspid & Ricky Estrada vs Camorra & Moro Jr.
3) Angel de Oro, Indomable, Sexy Piscis vs Guerrero Inca, Piloto Negro, Sexy Francis
4) Hijo de Santo & Solar vs Espanto V & Mano Negra

It occurs to me that this is exactly the sort of booking Blue Demon Jr. gets, and that’s the danger of Santo’s standoff.

indy (SAT) 05/19 Deportivo Moctezuma
1) Aguila Oriental vs Golem
2) Ninja de Fuego & Pegaso (indy) vs Comando Mega & Volcan Negro
3) Antaris, Hombra Arana, Kung Fu Jr. vs Kraneo, Rambo Jr., Vampiro Metalico
4) Avisman & Kid Tiger vs Bacteria & Celestial [ri, losers advance, mask, hair]
5) Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone vs Misterioso Jr. & Universo 2000

This might be an IWRG show? It looks like that sort of lineup, but IWRG’s site is still down so I dunno. Bacteria and Avisman are the two unmasked guys in this match, I believe.

IWRG (SUN) 05/20 Arena Naucalpan
1) Antaris & Ave Fenix vs Avisman & Vampiro Metalico
2) Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, Cocolores vs 911, AK47, Fierro [super libre]

6) Heavy Metal, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Gladiador vs Hirooki Goto, Ohara, Okumura
7) ?, Dos Caras Jr., Vampiro vs ??, Hijo de Cien Caras, Mano Negra

This is a big anniversary show for the building. First show Vampiro’s been in out of Guadalajara since starting back up.

5) Rey Bucanero b Hector Garza [CMLL LH]

Leono and Toro Bill Sr. fight for their hairs next week.

WWA (FRI) 05/25 Auditorio de Tijuana [rey_misterio_tj @ Satanico’s Mansion]
1) La Mascara, Mistico, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto [WWA TRIOS]

This is Mora’s anniversary show and such, but really – belt #5! Theoretically, the Trio of Terror could win the trios belts, but I see Averno and Mistico in there, so I suspect I know the ending. These belts were last held by the Brazos in ’98, so they’re vacant (and pretty meaningless, but whatever.)

Gililo @ el Martiente has photos from the LLX show in Guadalajara. Meanwhile, amateur @ box y lucha says wrestlers didn’t go on with the next show in LLX, because they weren’t getting paid.

La Presna jumps on the “there’s no way Mistico could possibly go to WWE” line, saying that Mistico’s already booked for months from now (and no one ever misses a booking) and is scheduled to start on a telenovela soon (?). It’s, uh, interesting how this article and the one yesterday are basically followup pieces to articles they never wrote.

This AP Story (which got picked up everywhere) about visiting Mexico City on $20 or less recommends lucha, of course.

The intrepid traveler on a budget shouldn’t miss the Lucha Libre, the Mexican version of the WWF, where you can see masked, muscly giants like Mistico and Blue Panther pummel one another in a crusty downtown arena that will bring Jack Black’s “Nacho Libre” to life.

No offense to Panther, but I’ve never thought of him that way. The article says tickets are already on ticketmaster – not yet, as far I’ve seen.

02/27: Misterio, Puebla, Guadalajara, Naucalpan, AULL

La Presna confirms parts of the Rey de Reyes lineup. Rey Misterio will be there (only because it’s supposed to be a benefit for Konnan), and the main event is Cibernetico, Charly Manson, and Chessman vs Scott Steiner, “another one of TNA”, and “another surprise” – the last is surely Kenzo, since that’s what has been mentioned elsewhere.

CMLL (MON) 02/26 Arena Puebla
1) SWAT, the Tigre, Zigma b Fuerza Chicana, Murcielago, Siki Ozama
