1) Fulgor I b Seiya
2) Imposible & Picudo Jr. b Ángel Del Amor & Mr. Magia (2013)
Mr. Magia is said to be making his debut, so not the one from last year.
3) Centvrión, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro [super libre]
Centvrion hurt his knee in the second fall to a hospital. 911 pulled Dinamic’s mask again, but Dinamic rolled him up anyway for the win. Dinamic wants a shot at 911’s Rey del Ring.
4) Decnnis, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Scorpio Jr. b Chico Che, Pantera, Veneno
Guapito fouled Veneno and Scorpio pinned him for the win.
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr. b Eterno, Súper Nova, X-Fly [IWRG IC TRIOS]
Piratas took 1/3, when Super Nova twice hit Eterno with dives by mistake. Pirata submitted X-Fly for the win. Piratas’s second defense.

Last Thursday’s show was taped for AYM/LAS. This week’s Thursday show was not taped at all.

AAA quietly has a taping today in Leon. It’s been understandable lost in the TripleMania build up, because it’s a show apparently being taped before AAA’s biggest show of the year to air after. Not much can happen, though a lot of the major people from the TripleMania show will be on this one. Perro & Cibernetico are the exceptions, but all three guys in the heavyweight championship picture and many of those battling for the tag team championship are on this show. The scheduled main event is Chessman, Texano, and Villano IV vs Canek, Mesias and La Parka, which is a much odder set off teams than when this show was first announced. Canek is a rudo on TripleMania teaming with V4 but facing him here. Mesias also may be a rudo by the end of TripleMania. Chessman and Texano are definitely not friends too, but how much AAA of that wants to play out is questionable.

Electroshock & Heavy Metal take on Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. & Silver King in the semimain, with another Secta vs Perros del Mal encounter in the fourth match. Steve Pain makes his AAA TV debut teaming with Carta Brava & Eterno against Angelico, Drago and Jack Evans, and the second match continues the Atomic Boy vs Apache feud in a mixed trios. There’s an opener, but the participants have not been listed (and I’d guess it’s local guys given they’re announcing Eterno in a match.)

The 2nd & the 3rd matches seem like the sort of matches which would air on Fusion, which would make this only a single week of TV for AAA Sin Limite. The problem with that is AAA hasn’t announced any tapings post TripleMania, and would need to be taping next weekend if Leon is going to last only one week. (Maybe TripleMania will air on TV after all?)

Cibernetico, Perro Aguayo Jr., Flamita, Pentagon Jr., Jennifer Blake and others are in Tijuana tonight, part of a The Crash show. Cibernetico and Perro Aguayo have a singles match two days before their hair match, and others are involved in a cruiserweight title tournament.

CMLL’s Arena Mexico show’s main event pushes the perennial Ultimo Guerrero vs Atlantis and La Sombra vs Volador Jr. feuds, with the odd ball combination of Titan and Pierroth rounding out the trios. Many of the guys who’ve made recent hair match challenges are bunched together in the semifiinal, so that should end with even more challenges. Dragon Rojo vs Rey Cometa is the lightning match, back for one week with no En Busca de un Idolo singles matches. That tournament continues with a Negro Casas, Stuka, Valiente vs Virus, Vangelis, Fuego. (I may not be able to record that; this would be a good week to message me when the live stream turns up.) NJPW’s Bushi debuts here in a good looking tercera, but everything is probably going shorter than usual with six trios and one singles match tonight.

R de Rudo, Estrellas del Ring and MedioTiempo have stories about AAA’s annual pilgrimage parade. A lot the same as every year, though it looks like they got COMEX to sponsor it this year. As usual, there’s mystery people in big group picture – who’s the guy in the Tinieblas style mask?

Frequent retiree Vampiro says he’s back full time and signed a five year deal. Riiiiiiiight. I’ve been concerned on Chessman’s behalf for a while about how AAA keeps calling him Vampire Killer and even though I doubt any five year deal in lucha libre, this fits with that concern. I’d recommend Chessman not climb up any tall objects or set up any tables on Sunday.

La Lucha se la Hace, the SLP based lucha show I’ve been posting for the last few months, will now start airing on Mexicanal Sundays at 5pm central. The quality of the webstream has been pretty poor, so this might be much improved if it airs as scheduled. (Which reminds me, the GALLI show never aired on either of the two announced times.)

Rompe Huesos looks back at other TripleMania hair match.

Kcidis has a drawing of Fuerza and Juventud Guerrera for Father’s Day. Fuerza is smiling, which seems totally unlike him unless Octagon is slumped on the ground nearby.

A press release on TripleMania’s iPPV notes 26% of their website traffic comes from other countries.

Sadica wants a title match with LLF champ Angelica.

Local luchadors were honored in Arena Coliseo Mexicali.

DTU (SUN) 05/22/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos [Al Filo del Ring, Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring, R de Rudo]
***Desafio***
1) Violento Jack b Kaleth, Pequeno Cobra, Jhonky, Radical, Hacker
Violento Jack is stuck with the trainees, but at least he won.
2) Arana de Plata Jr., Ashley, Megan b Garra de Aguila, Vanely, Yuki Star
Garra de Aguila was strechered out.
3) Keira, Máscara Oriental, Zairus b Lily Fighter, Trauma I, Trauma II
Chucho el Roto & Yakuza ran in to distract the Traumas (AULL Tag Team title issues!) setting up their loss. Lily Fighter almost killed herself on a dive.
4) Daga b Flamita, Ciclope, Eterno, Yakuza, Pesadilla, Hormiga, Black Fire, Masivo, Chucho el Roto
Daga beat Eterno. Violento Jack hit the ring after the match, angry about being demoted to the opener.
5) Zumbi DRAW Sick Boy
No word on how they got to the draw, but everyone seems unhappy with this the non-ultraviolentness of this match. (“A mockery of the public”)
6) Drastik Boy b Aero Boy, Judas el Traidor, Paranoiko, Muerte Bucanera, Shitara, Dement Xtreme
Big win for Drastick Boy, beating Aeroboy. Judas and Aero left injuried.
7) Chica Tormenta & Dark Angel b La Vaquerita & Princesa Sujei
Dark Angel’s team won clean. Chica Tormenta and Princesa Sujei feuded after the match

Get the vibe this show did not go well, even outside Zumbi/Sick Boy. DTU posted a note sort of apologizing for the show quality, promising the next show (07/02) will be better. Nice bit of candor.

IWRG (SUN) 05/22/2011 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Saruman b Alan Extreme
2) Dinamic Black & Golden Magic DRAW El Imposible & El Pollo Asesino
Rudos took the first, tecnicos the second. Dinamic Black put Pollo in a tapatia, and leaned him forward for the double pin.
3) Avisman, Comando Negro, Oficial AK47 b Centurión, Freelance, Multifacético
Rudos won 1/3 clean.
4) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan b El Brazo & Hijo del Brazo [IWRG IC TAG]
Straight fall win for the champs, though not without issue. Piratas cheated the Brazos frequently in the first fall, until El Brazo got annoyed and tried to foul Pirata Sr. He was caught for the DQ. Piratas got away with their own foul in the second fall to sweep.
5) Fresero Jr., Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Oficial 911 DQ Drago (AAA), Electroshock, Veneno
Tecnicos took the first, rudos the second, Electroshock was DQed for a chair shot on 911.

CMLL (MON) 05/23/2011 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio]
3) Cancerbero, Euforia, Raziel b Ángel de Plata, Delta, Fuego
4) Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso Jr. b Sagrado, Stuka Jr., Valiente
Sagrado was stretchered out.
5) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b La Máscara, La Sombra, Strong Man
Mr. Niebla did appear, and Peste Negra was with him. After the heavy feuding in previous weeks, it sounds like the tecnicos just won clean, taking the last two falls. La Mascara put Negro in the campana in the third.

Shocker, promoting his new restaurant, says he’s hoping to be back a month. That makes the lineups plugging Shocker’s return last Friday odder still.

CMLL’s put out press about the CMLL Super Lightweight tournament, though there’s no mention of who’s in next week’s block. The two blocks will be fought in ciberenticos. Picking favorites depends on which of CMLL’s multiple personalities is in charge of this tournament, and that’s always unknown. I’d rate Hijo del Signo, Palacio Negro and Guerrero Maya as the favorites, Rey Cometa, Magnus, Hombre Bala as the next group and Inqusidior and Trueno as highly unlikely.  I’m going to pick Palacio Negro because I like Palacio Negro and Maya has other things to do and there’s not much more to go on.

My guess at next week’s sides: Metal Blanco, Delta, Puma King, Tiger Kid, Angel de Plata, Fuego, Pegasso and Bobby Zavala. I figure Angel de Oro, Diamante and Polvora are above this title, Rey Escorpion is too big, and Dragon Lee is still injured. I would have Yoshihashi in this tournament, just because it’s supposed to be a world championship so you might as well include one non-Mexican, but I think he’s trying to be a non-Super Lightweight. Angel Azteca Jr. was the runner up last time, but seems completely forgotten and a long shot to even make it in.

Jeff Jarrett continues to threaten that TNA will replace AAA, which is nice because it’ll give me two less hours of TV to recap a week. He’s a swell guy. Also, Rob Van Dam says “Doctor Wagner Junior” and appears to think he’s on Sesame Street. I do totally now want to see Dr. Wagner punch RVD in the face, mission accomplished!

Rob has a post on like a dozen different things. Also August ’95 AAA highlights and a great Rey Misterio highlight

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 05/29/2011 Arena Coliseo
1) Freesbe & Principe vs Artillero & Ramstein
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr. vs Hooligan, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Sensei vs Dr. X, Nitro, Skándalo
4) Black Warrior, Metro, Valiente vs Euforia, Mephisto, Vangelis
5) Blue Panther, Strong Man, Super Porky vs El Alebrije, Psicosis, Shinsuke Nakamura

Main event needs to be built around Shinsuke Nakamura/Cuije spots.

I wonder how the person booking the Rayos vs Bala/Maya storyline feels about no longer being on TV. I wonder if CMLL will ever tell us what Dragon Lee’s injury is.

Navarros beat Morgans, more CMLL rookie matches

IWRG (THU) 04/14/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Record (1-3), Record (4)]
1) Centurión & Saruman b Carta Brava Jr. & Vampiro Metálico
2) Dinamic Black, Dragon Fly, Golden Magic b Alan Extreme, Fresero Jr., Imposible
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Avisman, Bombero Infernal, El Hijo del Diablo [lumberjack strap]
Bombero Infenral replaced Gringo Loco, and this was suddenly a one fall lumberjack strap match.
4) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II b Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan
Navarros dominated the mat portion of the first fall, but the Pirata would rush in and break up their holds. When the Navarros argued, the Piratas attacked from behind and won the fall. Navarros came back at the end of the second fall to take it. Negro & Trauma beat Pirata & Hijo in the third to take it, and that probably sets up another tag title mat

Arena Mexico has Guerreros del Atlantida teaming up to take out a trio of psuedo-outsiders: Goto, Volador & Garza. Semimain includes Rey Bucanero & Mr. Aguila inexplicably teaming. Tonight is also night 3 of the Forjando un Idolo matches, with Dragon Lee/Delta & Metal Blanco/Guerrero Maya. Dragon Lee is nervous and excited for his Forjando un Idolo match.

  • Maricela Pena did a video interview at the annual AAA show for Escuela Antonio Pena. Pretty sure this interview is not pre-empted by a Santo one.
  • Rush says the era of Rey Bucanero is over, and now’s the time of Rush. He wants the hair match to prove it.
  • Ultimo Guerrero explains he was harsh with Escorpion because he’s taught the entire group techniques to win, and he goes out and gets disqualified instead. UG wants good clean competition, how odd.
  • Aerostar says he, Laredo and Octagon haven’t decided which one gets to have the Super Fly mask match, but he wants it.
  • Black Warrior is happy the fans have welcomed him back and wouldn’t mind feuding with Negro Casas.
  • Chica Tormenta thinks this weekend’s DTU show is her biggest opportunity yet, but also hasn’t seen her child since New Year’s Day. That’s rough.
  • Drastick Boy is looking forward to his big match.
  • Martha Villalobos is running a charity show.
  • Blue Demon Jr. (via Luchando Libre) is opening a wrestling school. Like every other school, Negro Navarro & Solar may teach classes.
  • Besides the previously announced PWR date, Hijo de La Park mentions he’s heading to Colorado.

Lineup

CMLL (SUN) 04/17/2011 Arena Coliseo – just the two mystery matches, via Box Y Lucha
1) Freesbe & Principe vs Disturbio & Semental
2) Dragon Lee, Enrique Vera Jr., Hijo del Signo, Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr. vs Artillero, Inquisidor, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II, Súper Comando [cibernetico]

A big match in the Gen11 vs Primera war…not even listed on CMLL’s official poster.

CMLL has simultaneous told these three stories:

  1. The debuts of the Generacion 2011 luchadors and the opening match wrestlers fighting back against them to protect their spots*
  2. The traditional Gran Alternativa tournament
  3. The Forjando Un Idolo tournament

Some wrestlers are only involved in one of the stories, some of the Gen11 guys are involved in all three, but there’s not a shred of continuity shared between the stories. The Rayo Tapatio activities are not mentioned outside the second match on Sundays. The Gran Alterantiva winner has not been treated any special on other shows, but instead immediately shamed in the Forjando tournament. At best, these storylines are operating completely independent of each other; in reality, they’ve worked at cross purposes, causing no one to stick out.

Three** different stories means (at least) three different programmers. All clearly given the same marching orders (push some young people NOW), but also all working on their own ideas and not interested in supporting each other’s concepts. This is a definite change – it’s always seemed to be one voice from CMLL, but there’s clearly a lot of individuals shouting and not much listening. We’ve talked about how CMLL needs to focus more on a smaller group of guys to get them over, but if everyone’s going to got agree which guys to push at the top, and they can’t even agree 0n eight rookies to push somewhere in the middle.

This is really where someone who supervises these people needs to pick the direction and get everyone behind it. If only CMLL had a hall of fame promoter who could do that.

* – that reasoning for the feud hasn’t really been explained well enough, but I’m 100% sure it’s based on real tensions. There’s only so many matches go to around, adding a dozen new guys means the older guys will lose and be a bit bitter about it.

** – maybe four, if you want to count Palacio Negro & Metal Blanco’s run to the trios titles, but that may be someone doubling up.

03/30: Coliseo, AAA departures

CMLL (SUN) 03/29 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones]
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II b Cholo & Zayco
2) Fantasy, Pequeño Olímpico, Tzuki b Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
3) Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Rosa Negra b Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Mictlan, Sagrado b Ephesto, Lizmark Jr., Terrible
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Mistico b Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Skandalo

Mistico got Negro with a castia for the win, and wants a title rematch. They may just end up adding the title stip to the GDL match this Friday if they think it’ll help. Skandalo was filling in for Metal, still out hurt.

Ovaciones says the tecnicas lost the third match in the sub-headline, but says that they won in the body of the article.

Ovaciones has an interview with Villano V, who says the change to Ray Mendoza Jr. is permanent, to honor his father.

indy (SUN) 04/05 Arena Solidaridad [Josedjesus @ LMDLL]
1) Baby Fox, Sky, Turbina vs Boomerang, Kokox Klan, Misionero
2) Axl, Burrito, Furor vs Black Demon, Mongol Chino Jr., Sexy Psicis
3) Monje Negro II, Monje Negro III, Monje Negro Jr. vs Centurion Negro, Karonte, Mongol Chino
4) Histeria, Maniaco, Psicosis II vs Diluvio Negro I, Estrella Dorado Jr., Gato Volador
5) Antifaz del Norte, Blue Demon Jr., Hator vs Aventurero, Diluvio Negro II, La Park

This would seem to confirm that Psicosis and Histeria out of AAA. Dr. Landru says Pirata Morgan (and Hijo de Pirata Morgan) have left AAA, with Alebrije possibly also going. Pirata’s already turning up on indy lineups too.

FWIW, on the long ‘Daniel being his usual completely absurd self and everyone trying to get him to act sane’ comment thread – it seemed like there was an assumption AAA decided it no longer wanted Super Porky. Super Porky could’ve decided he no longer wanted AAA.

Pretty much all of the AAA guys of a similar age and a similar level have left; perhaps El Brazo is the last one left? Who knows how long he lasts. There’s probably now enough guys who were in AAA from 97 to 07 to run an AAA nostalgia promotion.

On the last Wrestling Observer Radio show, Dave Meltzer killed the quality of the AAA show, saying Jack, Rocky and Pimpi were the only ones who stuck out as good, and hated the Psycho Circus match (though noted Parka was the most over guy on the show.) In the comments, Sexington sounds like he enjoyed it more.

Box Y Lucha remembers Dinamico I, who passed away yesterday from a heart attack after his match.

Dr. Wagner Jr. has decided he’s ignoring that Canek beat Cibernetico to earn a shot at his title – he’s only doing the title match if he faces (and beat) both of them back in a triangle match.
Lizmark Sr. talks about proper lucha libre training.

Dos de Tres March has Vampiro on the cover. I like how there’s an article on the Psycho Circus as an Atomicos champs, an angle already long forgotten (and a story that could’ve only been written during a very short time.)

07/31: Puebla, Naucalpan, Guadalajara, Leon

CMLL

CMLL (MON) 07/30 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Ares & Toro Bill Jr. b Legionario & the Tiger
2) Blade & Skandalo b Batman & Lestat
3) Flash, Stuka Jr., Super Nova b Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila b La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador
5) Atlantis, Averno, Ultimo Guerrero b Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero
6) Mistico b Dr. Wagner Jr.

Reverse of Friday’s match – Ultimo interfered again, but this time attacking Mistico while the ref and Wagner were distracted, so Wagner got the free pin. Correction: Wagner got laid out by Ultimo, much like Friday. Ultimo and Atlantis celebrated being evil, and Negro and Rey ran them off post match.

I think Ultimo screwing over Wagner really should’ve been the finish on Friday, but maybe they’ll make it work in the long run.

IWRG (SUN) 07/29 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG]
1) Samba b Comando Gama
2) Macho II & Puma King b Golem & Tortugillo Ninja
3) Halcon Salvaje, Kid Tiger, Star Boy DQ Capitan Muerte, Cyborg, Xibalva
4) Black Terry, Hijo de Mascara Ano 2000, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Marco Rivera, Tony Rivera, Veneno
5) Alex Koslov, Cerebro Negro, Negro Navarro, Ultraman Jr. b Hijo del Cien Caras, Kai, Misterioso II, Yamato

Cerebro Negro pinned Yamato, which is setting up something for next week. In the tercera, the rudos would not stop beating on Halcon Salvaje, so the DQ. Halcon and Cyborg are headed to a hair match.

IWRG (SUN) 08/05 Arena Naucalpan
1) Tortuguillo Ninja vs Comando Gama
2) Halcon Salvaje & Samba vs Macho II & Rockero del Diablo
3) Centauro, Freelance, Kid Tiger vs Captian Muerte, Hijo del Diablo, Xibalba
4) Alex Koslov, Negro Navarro, Ultraman Jr. vs Black Terry, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Nitro
5) Yamato vs Cerebro Negro [Rey del Ring]

Yes, apparently you can defend the Rey del Ring title this year. IWRG really needed another belt to be defended.

CMLL (SUN) 07/29 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Mayu]
3) Infierno, Malefico, Rey Lobo b Leon Blanco, Magnum, Metal Blanco
4) Cien Caras Jr., Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000 b Máximo, Rayman, Vampiro
5) Lizmark Jr., Terrible, Texano Jr. b Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr.

Metal Blanco may have got hurt in his match; it was a quick finish.

CMLL (SUN) 07/29 Gimnasio Nuevo Leon [RFC]
1) Coco Viper, Memo Valles, Tacua b Gitano, La Sombra, Silver Star
2) Bengali, Cats, Raiden b Mongol Chino Jr., Rey Hechicero, Tigre Univeristario
3) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Silver King b Hector Garza & Ultimo Guerrero

CMLL (SUN) 08/05 Gimnasio Nuevo Leon [RFC]
1) Mongol Chino Jr., Rey Hechicero, Tiger Universitario vs Gitano, La Sombra, Silver Star [captains mask]
2) Ephesto & Ultimo Guerrero vs Felino & Negro Casas

LUM (SAT) 08/04 Parque Tolteca [GABRIEL MARTINEZ O @ LMDLL]
1) Venum & Vudu vs Dranser & Scravos
2) Bengali, Cats, Raiden vs Chica de Arabia, el Tacua, Orquidea Negra
3) Difunto I, Difunto II, Hijo del Espanto vs Apolo Estrada Jr., Aventurero, Estrella Dorada Jr.
4) Gato Volador, Principe Franky, Tigre Universitario vs Monje Negro Jr., Sergio Romo Jr., Silver Star
5) Pirata Morgan vs Potro Jr. [hair]

I think you can go edit that one into the wiki.

AULL (FRI) 08/03 Arena Lopez Mateos [Brina
1) La Rebelde & Yezka vs Diosa Maya & Princesa Zareth
2) Luna Magica, Princesa Blanca, Sahori vs La Briosa, La Nazi, Rosa Negra
3) Lady Apache vs Marcela vs Hiroka
4) Dark Angel vs Amapola vs Mima Shimoda vs India Sioux

Four ways and three ways for absolutely no reason! This is indy.

Perro Aguayo Jr. is interviewed in Ovaciones, complaining about Wagner stealing his groups gig of being neither tecnico or nor rudo. He expects to be the center of the promotion upon his return and to get Mistico’s match shortly.

AAA hypes the 08/03 taping as the return of the Intocable.

SuperLuchas #223 has Wagner humiliating Mistico.

The magazine FAMA has a special lucha libre issue.
