Atlantis is unsure if he’s facing Ultimo Guerrero at Anniversario, Tuesday results, Super Popular

1) Camaleón & Höruz b Espanto Jr. & Herodes Jr.
2) Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior b Pequeño Halcón, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito
Rudos took 2/3.
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Dark Angel, Goya Kong b La Seductora, Princesa Blanca, Tiffany
Tecnicas took 1/3.
4) Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Super Porky b Morphosis, Olímpico, Shigeo Okumura

5) Niebla Roja b Máscara Dorada [lightning]
Niebla Roja snuck in a foul on Mascara Dorada
6) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Pierroth b Atlantis, La Máscara, Thunder

Dorada has lost three straight weeks to three different people. I dunno. Meanwhile, Dark Angel hasn’t lost a trios match since January. The only match she’s lost since then here was that lightning match to Princesa Blanca (and Dark Angel beat her earlier in the year.)

CMLL (TUE) 07/23/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) Metatrón & Sky Kid b Demonio Maya & Sádico
Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Esfinge, Gallo, Soberano Jr. b Hijo del Signo, Maléfico, Ráfaga
Tecnicos took 1/3, Soberano beating Signo in the third.
3) Amapola, La Comandante, Princesa Sugheit b Lluvia, Luna Mágica, Marcela
Rudas took 1/3.
4) Ephesto, Misterioso Jr., Vangellys b Diamante Azul, Sagrado, Stuka Jr.
Rudos took 1/3, Vangelis beating Sagrado
5) La Sombra, Máximo, Rush DQ Euforia, Mr. Águila, Último Guerrero
Tecnicos took 2/3, UG fouling Sombra.

Sombra wins, get to sleep in his own bed for the first time in weeks.

CMLL is again pushed to 4pm this week, which means AAA is probably pushed to 5pm. Both groups keep presenting this as “a one week change”, but Televisa does not communicate with them about these things and I doubt they know any better than you and I. It’s been the new time for enough weeks that maybe we all should start assuming those are the times going forward.

Probably should’ve watermarked this!

My new fascination, Arena Coliseo Guadalajara’s Super Popular, finally had his photo revealed on the latest card for the arena. I thought it was strange how his mask looked very Olimpico inspired. Someone else pointed out he’s got a similar tattoo to Exodia, Olimpico’s son. Exodia debuted in 2009 and retired in 2010 after suffering a severe leg injury while wrestling in IWRG. Exodia’s only been seen once since his injury, appearing in the ring in the 2010 Anniversario show when his father was unmasked. Exodia was using a cane to get around, but still worse his mask. Perhaps that leg finally healed enough for a return (long or short – lot of people around for short times in Guadalajara lately.)

Even Atlantis doesn’t know if he’s having his mask match at the Anniversary show (or why it hasn’t just been announced yet.) Atlantis has no plans on retiring any time soon but is not thinking about the future until he gets past this mask match, and is somewhat concerned Ultimo Guerrero’s many henchman are going to try to injure him before the mask match.

IWL held a press conference from their 08/03 show, with the IWL and AULL wrestlers fighting each other before the show in AULL’s Arena Lopez Mateos. The recap mentions in passing that Impulso has left indy group XMW. A trio of Impulso, Ares and Mr. Leo had been scheduled to represent XMW in the usual trios tournament, but no XMW lucahdors will appear on the show.

Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero are headed to Los Angeles this Sunday.

La Vaquerita & Zeuxis team up in a tournament for the REINA Tag Team championship on 08/24

The first part of Jack Evans’s AAA interview. Find out why Steve Pain is his biggest rival. I enjoyed it! Vuelos del Cielo seems to be the Angelico & Jack Evans team name.

Rob has highlights of 06/21/13 CMLL.

Lucky Boy and Nino de Ebano know they’re short on experience but they’re going to give their best in every match.

Taya believes she’s the best luchadora, plans on beat Faby and getting a title shot.

R de Rudo looks back at el Santo.

Arena Coliseo Monterrey is going from Konnan Big to a technical battle between Rey Hechicero and Charles Lucero.

Ohtani’s Jacket catches up on more CMLL.

EDIT – LINEUPS

CMLL (MON) 07/29/2013 Arena Puebla
1) Black Tiger & Milenium vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Goya Kong, Luna Mágica, Marcela vs Amapola, La Vaquerita, Tiffany
3) Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skándalo
4) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa vs Kráneo, Morphosis, Psicosis
5) Stigma vs Espíritu Maligno [mask]
6) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente vs Averno, Mephisto, Negro Casas

Forgot to include this, though it’s pretty much what you’d expect. I’d put the mask match last for the reasons I always think the masks matches should be last, but it’s a pretty packed show.

Rush/Diamante/Oro keep trios titles, AAA/TNA, new Mistico

CMLL (SUN) 05/08/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Cesar]
1) Astro Boy & BengalaBobby Zavala & Zayco
Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Sensei DQ Mortiz, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
straight falls. Rayo I had Bala suspended in a hold, decided to pull his mask anyway.
3) Metal Blanco, Metro, Palacio NegroCancerbero, Raziel, Yoshihashi
2/3 for the tecnicos. Metro beat Yoshihashi with a German suplex
4) Ángel de Oro, Diamante, RushEl Alebrije, Misterioso II, Olímpico [MEX TRIOS]
Tirantes was referee and slow counted the champs. Tecnicos still won, taking 1/3, Rush pinning Alebrije. Misterioso challenged Rush to a mask vs hair match again. Misterioso dreams of $$$$.
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro CasasBlack Warrior, Máximo, Strong Man
1/3 for Peste Negra. Clean pins for Felino & Casas on Warrior & Maximo for the deciding fall.

Today’s AAA TV show in Mexico including a vignette posted earlier online: Jeff Jarrett going around the TNA locker room recruiting various faces and heels to come to AAA with him (and cutting some mixed promos.) People shown included Mr. Anderson, Matt Hardy, Bully Ray, AJ Styles, Beer Money, and Mick Foley, all talking about how much they’d love to go to AAA to show them Mexicans. Oddly, no Hernandez. Other odd thing is Styles & Beer Money are being advertised for a show in Buffalo the same day as TripleMania; they (or other people) seem to be promoting as appearing at a show they’re not appearing at. Maybe they’ll show up on AAA at some other part. (Third odd thing is TNA is changing it’s name next week, but I guess not in Mexico.) Still, this was a great start at introducing people.

Speaking of introducing people, this week’s SuperLuchas says CMLL will debut a new Mistico this Friday. No Mistico is listed on the card, so this would just be an introduction to the crowd. WWE will be in Mexico City on Friday, so this seems like obvious response to that. There’s no indication in the story about who the new Mistico would be. Magnus still seems the most likely person, but it seems far from the certainty it was when the new Mistico concept was still floated. CMLL themselves have made no mention of any of this.

CMLL in Japan

Haven’t seen full results from the Reina debut show yet, but this NikkanSports article does mention two of finishes:
Ayumi b Mima Shimoda [#1, CMLL WOMEN]
Amapola b Marcela [CMLL WOMEN]

I would figure these results mean Amapola is going back to Japan at some point , but Ayumi does mention wanting to come back to CMLL this summer, maybe the title shot would happen here. They’re running at least every other weekend from here on out, so Silueta and Zeuxis should be working regularly.

Rob posted video of CMLL’s tour of Japan in Feb 2000 and AAA’s tapings on 02/13 & 02/25/94.

Saturday’s Arena Lopez Mateos show, to help Rey Escorpion pay for an operation for his child saw Rey Escorpion, Ultimo Guerrero, and Atlantis beat Villano IV, Villano V and Scorpio Jr. Straight fall win for the Guerreros, Rey Escorpion wiping out Scorpio Jr. with a dive while his parnters took care of the Guerreros. Amo La Lucha Libre has video of this match. Black Terry Jr. has video of Navarro & Traumas vs Solar, Chucho el Roto, and Iron Love: fall 1, fall 2, fall 3.

DTU’s Kids Day show included lap dances, men on women violence, and other lunacy. DTU: Keeping It Real.

Forjando un Idolo

I enjoyed both of these. Seems like the Puebla matches aren’t airing. Just to rub it in, Porra Fresa says Delta vs Guerrero Maya Jr. was the best match he’s seen in the tournament.

CMLL in NJPW
05/01:  Davey Richards (O), Rocky Romero, Mascara Dorada b Prince Devitt, Ryusuke Taguchi (X), Jushin Liger
Next show is the 05/03 title match.

LuchaWorld has the last two Ras de Lonas.

SuperLuchas #411 has a spiffy new look. Inside is an interview with Hijo del Santo (in full Hijo del Santo, telling us he could’ve beaten Fishman or Villano III for their masks but he had too much respect for them to challenge them, fishing for someone to pay for a Hijo del Solitario mask match, explaining Super Astros set the stage for Sin Cara & Alberto del Rio)

Odds of that ? being Black Thunder: 99 to 99.999%

SuperLuchas says the next trainee show is 05/14. Scheduled to be a rematch with the Villano GYM, but they did run an angle with Gym Ham Lee last time.

CMLL (SUN) 05/08/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Drago vs RáfagaMaleficoMr. Trueno [OCCIDENTE LH, #1]

4) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Toscano vs Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero

That’s a match to challenge for Gallo’s title. Though I wonder what they’re going to do with Metal Blanco’s title if he’s not going to be around here (and probably isn’t losing to one who’s sticking around.) ACG Drago is not the AAA Drago.

This is (also?) a Rey Escorpion benefit show, though he doesn’t wrestle on this one. Really stacked lineup, should be a fun card.

Order of elimination is a bit scrambled right now. SuperLuchas has it as

  1. Averno
  2. Mephisto
  3. Ephesto
  4. Histeria
  5. Alebrije
  6. Mr. Niebla
  7. Jushin Lyger
  8. Ultimo Guerrero
  9. Atlantis
  10. Volador
  11. Mistico
  12. Psicosis – he and Olimpico betrayed each other and tried to leave at the same time, but refs ruled Psicosis got out first
another win for Sombra/@cmllmagazine

After an 8 minute final, Sombra pinned Olimpico. Olimpico is Joel Bernal Galicia, 44. He said he was a 19 year pro; we have him turning 18 in a week or two – previously unrevealed gimmick? Roy Aguirre, Olimpico’s father, and Exodia, Olimpico’s son, helped him unmask. Exodia’s been retired due to injuries suffered in IWRG, but it’d be no surprise if he turned up in CMLL before long.

Sombra’s the wrestler of the year. I mean, we’ll have a vote and everything, but he won it with two major mask wins.

Everything went the tecnicos way tonight. Semimain was a straight fall win for the cheered Peste Negra. Excessive violence DQ in the first (on Bucanero) and Bucanero pinned Charly in the second. That appears to set up a straight singles hair match between Rey Bucanero and Charly Manson, an AAA match of a parallel reality. Mr. Aguila was also challenged to a hair match, but refused, saying his hair was a work of art. (Probably Aguila/Garza vs Negro/Felino for the tag titles coming soon.) Negro Casas feuded with Tirantes in this match and chased him out of the ring after. If only Negro knew a tecnico referee who could even the odds!

Mascara Dorada did a wacky dive. Dark Angel pinned Amapola in the opener, which may or may not lead anywhere.

Looks like a full house. And a lot of people in the chat.

11/28: Olimpico, Mexico, GDL, UDG

(SoloLuchas) The mystery guy in the Perros debut show will be Olimpico. He’s left CMLL and will join this group. Seems like a risky move, but I guess it’s better than being passed up by younger rudos.

CMLL (FRI) 11/28 Arena Mexico
1) Metálico & Tigre Blanco vs Carrona & Pólvora
2) Dark Angel, Princesa Blanca, Sahori vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei
3) Máximo, Mictlán, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Sangre Azteca
4) Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr. vs Héctor Garza, La Máscara, Mascara Dorada
5) Místico, Shocker, Toscano vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Storyline for the show is Shocker’s return and Toscano’s return to the tecnico side. Shocker’s interviewed in Ovaciones, though he doesn’t say much. If CMLL is going to end the year with a big show two weeks from now, they have to make it clear tonight. Perhaps they are setting up a trios title match, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they just ran two normal shows and that was it.

5) Casanova vs Super Maquina [mask, hair]
6) Black Warrior, Euforia, Mr. Niebla vs Máximo, Toscano, Volador Jr.

An odd selection of guys for the main event, but usually Euforia and Maximo would be tagging with locals in the semimian. No idea about a winner there.

indy (SUN) 11/30 Arena Tiger Padilla [box y lucha]
1) Colombiano & Cyber Gata vs Blue Ice & Goliath
2) Diablo I & Diablo II vs Erick el Rojo & Hechicero
3) Sic Boy & SKam 13 vs Darlion & Nightmear
4) Volador I vs Volador Jr., Misterioso II, Misterioso Sr. [mask, hair]

Main event has resurfaced, for a different building.

DRAGON GYM (SUN) 12/14 Arena Coliseo [Mr. Burbu @ el Martiente]
1) Negro Navarro vs Terry 2000
2) Marcela & Pequeno Ninja vs Mima Shimoda & Pequeño Halloween
3) Satoshi Kajiwara vs Súper Camaleón, Ministro, Adam Bridle, Trauma I, Trauma II, Disturbio, Miedo [Copa Dragon]
4) Brazo de Platino, La Máscara, Valiente vs Atlantis, Loco Max, Shigeo Okumura
5) Último Dragón vs Ohara [NWA IJH]

Yea, sure, why not. Noon show, with the CMLL guys assuredly working a double header in this building since one-third of the roster will be in Guadalajara on this day. Should I know Adam Bridle? Dragon just won this title in Dradition over Super Delfin, and I’m going to guess Ohara takes it from him to continue his spot as young rudo ace in this non-group. Judging from the poster, the mixed rudo pair was supposed to be Hiroka and Pequeno Damian, but Hiroka’s in GDL.

10/03 overnight update

Dos Caras Jr. to WWE

Dos Caras Jr. expects to sign with WWE tomorrow or Saturday, and he’s got no problem ripping CMLL on the way out the door.

If you recall, back when this story first broke, it was right before CMLL announced the CMLL Spain tour. At the time, Dos intimated the news getting out had caused some issues in his relationship Paco Alonso and CMLL Management. Turns out, once CMLL found out Dos was talking with WWE, the relationship was done. Dos stuck around to work out the rest of his contracted dates, but it sounds like there were very hurt feelings on both sides. Dos rips management without really being specific, saying they’re “doing bad things” (poor communication seems to be an issue), blaming CMLL for general discontent with the locker room.

Dos makes it clear that he fully planned on leaving the CMLL Heavyweight Title with CMLL on his way out, because it’s their title. It doesn’t sound CMLL was particularly interested in getting it back, or having him drop it in a title. “CMLL has no rivals for me to defend this belt.” I don’t think he’s saying no one in CMLL is on his level, it’s that CMLL hasn’t had any challenge him.

Dos is looking at doing farewell to Mexico shows in Tijuana and SLP. He’s done in Arena Mexico. No start date for WWE is mentioned, and it’s still impossible to figure.

A couple points to make
– Sicodelico Jr.’s almost positively going to CMLL as well.
– doesn’t sound CMLL made any attempt to keep him
– if CMLL knew Dos was going, why did they give him a spot on the anniversary show? That seems extremely dumb, there surely would’ve been someone else thrilled to have the spot.
– I think the Lizmark/Corelone feud was planned to have a hair match blowoff – it seems headed that way, and it seems like there’s people booking for the own day of the week shows without any knowledge of what else is going with only occasional oversight or communication – but they might as well might that title match then doing a pointless tournament. The belt means zero right now, don’t waste time on deciding a new champ.

Of course, Dos might not be the only done here…

AAA teases a CMLL jump

Just in case they remove it, here’s the poll currently on AAA’s site:

luchalibreaaa.com
luchalibreaaa.com

They’re asking which one of these guys will be the big surprise on AAA’s show this Sunday. They can worm out of it or even just ignore it later, but at the moment, they’re pretty much saying one of these four guys is showing up at the TV taping.

why it won’t be them:
– Tarzan Boy and Shocker are currently independent guys, but both who’ve expressed a strong desire to return to CMLL. Shocker’s said as much in the last week.
– Olimpico and Rey Bucanero are working for CMLL; there’s no telling if they’re actually under a contracted, but they surely have contracted dates.

why it will be them:
– Tarzan’s been on the outside a long time and probably could use the steady employment. Shocker didn’t say he wouldn’t go back to AAA when he asked.
– Rey Bucanero has been the subject of quite a few AAA jump rumors since his tecnico turn
– Olimpico was ticked to be off the anniversary show

where they’re supposed to be on Sunday
– Olimpico is part of a tag tourny in GDL
– Shocker headlines the Scorpio benefit show at Arena Emilano Zapata
– Rey Bucanero wrestled last Sunday, and has no known future matches. Doesn’t mean he’s absolutely not working, just not in a show that’s on our radar. (Odd factoid: he’s only worked Coliseo, Mexico and Puebla this month, so he may not be working small shows.)
– Tarzan works the NWA Mexico show on Saturday, but has nothing for Sunday.

what impact they’d make
– Olimpico: little. Taking Niebla’s role is probably the best to hope for, and can’t imagine him as a tecnico
– Rey Bucanero: moderate, depending on how quick they lose interest
– Tarzan Boy: same – can’t seem to find much to do with Alan Stone, what are they going to do with an older version one the jump wears off?
– Shocker: moderate, because it’d be hard to trust him at this point

If I had to pick any of them, I’d guess Tarzan Boy because he’s probably given up on waiting for CMLL. But, my real pick is none of the above. It might be some other outsider (surprised they didn’t throw in Black Warrior, though a ex-WWE to capitalize on RAW moving in would make more sense), but I think this is mostly done to cause rumors, speculation, and discontent inside of CMLL. It’ll be the buzz of the internet and people will be ticked if it’s not a jump, but this is going be something much more known to people inside the business than the average fan watching AAA when this taping airs next weekend. The speculation isn’t going sell tickets or increase ratings, but it’s going to tick off CMLL and AAA’s always counting that as a win.

This is also a brilliant way to take the spotlight off AAA acknowledging their timeslot is being moved and cut. And this sucks for the guys named who aren’t jumping.

Let’s take a moment to note how hilarious/CMLL-rific it would be for Bucanero to jump, and CMLL to lose it’s Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion in one weekend. If I had any faith in NWA Mexico to do better, forget the idea I suggest yesterday afternoon – they should just point out how much a joke titles are in CMLL, how titles go seasons (or years!) without being defending, say they’re not champions worth recognizing, and move on.

CMLL puts date to Goddess/Princesa Sujei mask match

CMLL (TUE) 10/07 Arena Mexico [the Punisher Wagner @ el Martinete]
1) Apocalipsis & Ramstein vs Angel de Oro & Astro Boy
2) Hijo del Faraon, Metálico, Tigre Blanco vs Bronco III, Euforia, Nosferatu
3) Ephesto, Misterioso II, Vangelis vs Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, La Sombra
4) Goddess vs Princesa Sujei [mask]
5) Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza

This is CMLL’s first Tuesday show of the month, so it’ll be a discount show. That’s also probably why the mask match is happening this week as well as the other better than usual matches. CMLL determines success by the number of people in Arena Mexico seats; even with as underpaid the guys are, this particular show surely can not be making them money, but if it looks decent for once they’ll probably be happy.

I feel pretty safe picking Sujei. Well, I’d feel pretty safe picking Sujei, because having Goddess beating Sujei would make as much sense as Villano V beating Blue Panther and we sure found that one out.

Regardless, this probably isn’t the losers farewell – Diana la Cazadora worked the next week and twice more after her hair match. Even if Goddess is headed back to Canada, they’ll surely keep her around for a week so everyone can see her unmasked.
