2) La Sombra, Mascara Purpura, Super Nova vs Euforia, Misterioso II, Nosferatu
3) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero vs Damian 666, Halloween, Terrible
4) Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Mistico vs Mr. Aguila [LdP, final]
6) Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Shocker vs Black Warrior, Tozcano, Ultimo Guerrero

Previews: Notimex, ESTO (LdP final, Atlantis vs Villanos, rest of the card), Ovaciones

I think they’re worried the Leyenda de Plata final may stink. You know Mistico’s deal, and Aguila’s coming in here with hurt ribs of some sort, not to mention all the time he’s spending on Cinco Magnificos. Aguila didn’t show much last week, and I can’t imagine he’ll have more two days before the final, so I think that’s why the match was switched to semimain.

Aguila should win, because they want votes for Cinco Magnificos, because they’ve got easy outs to excuse a Mistico loss, and because Aguila will be easy to beat next year regardless of who they want to beat him. No one ever retains this title.

I think the promotion cares more about Aguila (playing the role of Perro) winning Cinco Magnificos than most anything else including this match, to be honest.

Otherwise, I think we’re in a holding pattern here. The Villanos match is worth watching. If they dominate again, we’re surely headed to a stip match (and perhaps Villano III challenges for Atlantis’ NWA LH title?) If this is 50/50 in week two, then maybe it’s just something to fill time this month. The main event definitely seems like an attempt to put top names in a match without actually having an issue.

AAA tapes tonight in Coumel, and Sunday in Merida. The main events are both of the “La Parka Jr. returns to team up with the Hell Brothers against the forces of evil”, with the usual stuff ticking in the undercard. We’re still lacking confirmation on that Triplemania card, perhaps some will come over this weekend stretch.

Ovaciones has a story about IWRG being picked up by PCTV.

Here’s the CNNSI lucha gallery, though there doesn’t seem to be an article that goes with it. Also, no one knows how to spell Shockercito and couldn’t be bothered to get it right.

MedioTempo has an interview with Juvi where he sounds relatively sane (the bit where he claims The Truth Will Come Out about his WWE stint and yet doesn’t actually give the truth is typical wrestler, which is decent for Juvi.)

05/26: Mexico results, lineups

Would you believe they finally totally turned Lizmark Jr. rudo? I guess it counts when he backstabs Mistico.

CMLL (FRI) 05/25 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, ESTO]
1) Brillante, Flash, Super Nova b Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Ramstein
2) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas DQ Mephisto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
3) Sagrado b Averno, Ephesto, Virus, Texano Jr., Leono, Loco Max, Valiente, Heavy Metal, Black Warrior [ciber, LdP]
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Lizmark Jr., Místico DQ Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Terrible

Rudos won the first fall of the main event, tecnicos took the second. Much like with Black Warrior, Mistico actually hit Lizmark in the third, and Lizmark Jr. soon turned on him. Perro Jr. made an appearance and beating up Mistico with a katana (a wood one, but still – ??) and ripping up his mask. Lizmark Jr. is now a member of Los Perros del Mal. (Perro and Aguila’s team from the circus stunt show was also at the show, but they did not actually join in the beatdown.)

The whole Lizmark Jr. rudo turn is so odd. They’d take a couple steps in that direction, they’d forget about it for seemingly months, and then they’d move towards it again. CMLL teased this particular feud in late April on the GdR shows, but did nothing with it till last night and I had given up on it.

This gives CMLL a nice alternate plan for the big Summer Mistico match, if Perro can’t or doesn’t want to do the hair match quite yet. There was talk Lizmark Jr. could’ve lost his mask last summer (in a tag match with his father against Averno & Mephisto), so it’s not a stretch to imagine him losing it to Mistico this year.

As expected, Sagrado wins this block of Leyenda de Plata, and earns the right to lose to set up a Mistico match next week. First four out were Leono, Loco Max, Texano Jr., Valiente. Ephesto and Averno were in together, and ended up battling to a double DQ with mask ripping and fouls – something’s up here, but it’s not exactly clear. Black Warrior was eliminated by Virus, and Sagrado beat both Virus and Metal for the win.

Sangre ripped off Blue Panther’s mask in the segunda.

CMLL (TUE) 05/29 Arena Coliseo
1) Mini Olimpico & Ultimo Dragoncito vs Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween
2) Sensei, Stuka Jr., Tony Rivera vs Caligula, Hooligan, Messala
3) Felino, Mascara Purpura, Mictlan vs Euforia, Loco Max, Nosferatu
4) Heavy Metal, Maximo, Rey Bucanero vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Volador Jr. vs Ultimo Guerrero

I hope that main event eventually gets redone for TV.

CMLL (FRI) 06/01 Arena Mexico
1) Neutron, Stuka Jr., Super Nova vs Arkangel, Loco Max, Nitro
2) Leono, Mascara Purpura, Valiente vs Goto, Ohara, Okumura
3) Blue Panther, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero vs Damian 666, Halloween, Terrible
4) Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Mr. Aguila vs Sagrado [LdP, sf]

If you didn’t yelp something negative when you saw the Villano names there, than you’re much better than I. Unless we’re going to find out this week that this is their last match as a unit ever, I’m not sure what they’re doing here.

Looks like the Metro stuff is done, at least with Neutron. Good that the pointless Lizmark turns again match is in the dead spot. In context, Mr. Aguila vs Sagrado main eventing Arena Mexico makes sense, but I don’t how they’re going to draw anyone to this show. Could’ve used a much stronger semimain, and I think the Villanos are close to being it.

CMLL (SUN) 06/03 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II vs Artillero & Zayco
2) Brillante, Trueno, Valiente vs Apocalipsis, Ramstein, Super Comando
3) Dark Angel, Diana La Cazadora, Lady Apache vs Amapola, Medusa, Princesa Sujei
4) Mascara Purpura, Maximo, Volador Jr. vs Satanico, Texano Jr., Virus
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy

We know it’s one of those three semimian rudos feuding with Maximo, we just have no idea which one since they’re all there this week as well.

TV notes much later

2) Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sugeith vs Dark Angel, Diana la Cazadora, Marcela

5) Dr. Wagner vs Atlantis

Arena Mexico previews
– ESTO: show, Leyenda de Plata
– Ovaciones
– No NotiMex! They’re slipping.

Here’s the thing, they may not know who’s winning this anymore as I write this. Obviously we need to replace Perro with someone – maybe Terrible gets bumped up and someone finds Sangre to stick him in that match – but if Mistico really as going to be in next week’s block, this seemed strongly destined for another Perro/Mistico match. There’s no other natural feud, and there’s no Ultimo’s or Rey’s or Corelone’s next week that would stand thought against Mistico. CMLL may be rethinking things at this moment, so I’m guessing as much as they are and can’t base this off any actual information.

Thanks for coming: Mascara Purpura (so he’s healthy?), Stuka Jr., (Terrible if he’s the replacement)

Guys in a holding pattern: Felino, Tarzan Boy, Mephisto

Which leaves

Maximo: only a very slim chance, because he’s actually got a feud with Texano they’d follow up first, and winning this is still a stretch for him. I could see it as a last minute decision, especially if you’ve decided a rudo has to come out of the other side.

Volador Jr.: They could finally go ALL THE WAY with him! Wait, no, that’ll never happen, scratch this one.

Alex Koslov: Winning this would also be a stretch, but they’re high on him and we’re not exactly overwhelmed with possibilites.

Negro Casas: Here’s the safe bet. He’s reliable, and they could have him work rudo next week versus Mistico if they’d like. That’s the strong point – you can have Negro win here without committing to anything for next week. The downside is Black Warrior is not in the next group, so if that’s the June money feud, it’s going to have a couple week layoff.

While I’m thinking about it, I’m going to guess Perro’s injury does NOT increase the likelyhood of Santo coming back to CMLL. The only thing that’s going to affect that situation is Santo’s willingness to change his price. CMLL will deal with having lesser houses for the rest of the year rather than give in

05/11: Mexico preview, Leyenda de Plata announced

CMLL (FRI) 05/11 Arena Mexico
1) Brillante, Leono, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
2) Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
3) Atlantis, Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Lizmark Jr., Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Último Guerrero vs Alex Koslov, Hirooki Goto, Jushin Liger, Marco Corelone, Minoru Suzuki, Pierroth, Shigeo Okumura, Último Dragón [Gran Prix]

It will be a one on one tournament – Ovaciones kinda tries to explain this, but you can assume by no one saying “cibernetico”, and what’s going on next week. No main event gives them more time, but if you break that up by match, that’s just an extra minute or two. I don’t think it’ll be broken up by match, though – maybe one long final after 14 short matches.

You’d think they’d push some tecnico really hard, with no Mistico around at the moment and no Perro needing a win. I’d guess Bucanero, Shocker, Ultimo Guerrero, Wagner, Liger and maybe Suzuki have a shot, though the Triple Crown champion has gotten absolutely zero hype to the point where I’d mistakenly think this is Minoru Tanaka again and perhaps some people do think that. Too bad Hajime Ohara isn’t here instead of Okumura, because we’d have like every top Japan wrestling promotion but NOAH in one match and like five people in Mexico would care. (I guess Dragon counts? Dragon counts as his own personal universe.)

Lots of talk about Liger and Wagner doing a NJPW Juniors re-enactment society for the final. I’m rooting for Ultimo, as always – maybe they’ll force another big Rey/Ultimo match on the fans since people won’t show if they knew it was coming. (I’d be happy.) Something should start ticking towards a hyped match for June here.

CMLL announced lineups for Leyenda de Plata today, and it’ll start next week. They must’ve had these in the plans previously, and didn’t want to do cibernetico tournaments back to back. (Dunno why they wouldn’t just wait to do these a little alter in the year, but maybe we’ll figure that out later.)

05/18: Maximo (returning from injury?), Mascara Purpura (ditto), Stuka Jr., Volador Jr., Alex Koslov, Mephisto, Tarzan Boy, Felino, Negro Casas, Perro Aguayo Jr.

05/25: Averno, Ephesto, Valiente, Mr. Aguila, Loco Max, La Mascara, Leono, Heavy Metal, Virus, Mistico (returning from injury?)

06/01: Final

Mistico’s injury is not addressed in this announcement, so I wouldn’t take it as proof that he’s going to be fine, but they’re planning with him in the picture. I’ll wait to preview this later, but there’s some surprising names in there. No Ultimo?
