06/12: Puebla, Hamadas, Lineups

CMLL (MON) 06/11 Arena Puebla [hugo999 @ box y lucha]
1) Forajido, Super Star, SWAT b Aguila Guerrera, Ares, Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Centella de Oro, Legionario, the Tiger CO Espiritu Malgino, Karissma, Toro Bill Jr.
3) La Sombra, Super Nova, Valiente b Dr. X, Negro Navarro, Nitro
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero b Atlantis, Averno, Mephisto
5) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila

Tecnicos won the main event in straight falls and want a shot at the Mexican Trios titles. Espiritu Maligno was hurt on a dive by the Tiger, which ended the match. Tiger kept attacking him as he was being carted off, which restarted a brawl with the rudos.

Madrea @ El Martiente has pictures of the AAA Merida taping on Sunday, though they’re still not up yet and not as much on results. He notes the building was full, but a lot seemed to be there only for Latin Lover. (So, that’s 8 comments at least.) Juvi didn’t wrestle, due to some sort of arm injury and Cuije was using a walker – maybe these things will make sense after hearing about the previous taping.

La Presna talks about Ayako Hamada debuting in AAA over the weekend, as well as “Angela from TNA”. (???) Gran Hamada is also starting with the promotion, and the article teases a Mixed Title title challenge.

Some fans were critical of Los Cinco Magnificos because Perro’s opposition seemed more talented, but lost on votes. Perro Aguayo Jr. defended his win, saying his team was the best.

Box Y Lucha #2822 has Mistico winning the LdP. Nice action photo too.

El Halcon #92 is up, with interviews with Maximo, Lady Apache and Tzuki.

The San Diego county fair will have (unspecified) lucha libre on Saturday and Sunday. According to the website, there’s two shows on each day, free with admission to the fair.

This article about marketing towards Hispanics includes a photo of Blue Demon Jr. throwing out the first pitch at a Dodgers game. Weird. (thanks to mikeinformer.)

Selected lineups below. Figure out the latest random Japanese youngster who’s wrestling in IWRG.

6) La Parka Jr., Latin Lover, Zorro vs Kenzo Suzuki, Mesias, Ozz

Air Date
Mex: 06/24
US: 07/14

Hey, Latin Lover. I’m so not interested in that debate.

Air Force vs Apache & Friends, check. Mexican Powers vs Sect/Psicosis, check. Super Astro being brought back to work all the way up in the semimain is interesting – he should be working across from Alan, so he stands a good chance here.

So I guess that confirms Ayako. She should’ve appeared about the same time this got posted on AAA’s site.

Future tapings
– 06/20 Tijuana
– 06/21 Mexicali
– 07/01 Monterrey
(some more between here?)
– 07/15 TripleMania

06/10 AAA TV Taping Lineup (Merida)

Previous: 05/20, 05/30 (lineup) 06/08 (unannounced)

Air Date
Mex: 06/17
US: 07/07

AAA TV (SUN) 06/10 Poliforum Zamna de Merida Lineup [YucaRod]
1) Cinthia Moreno & Estrellita vs ? & ??
2) Laredo Kid & Sexi Star vs El Apache & Fabi Apache
3) Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger, Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera vs Espiritu, Psicosis, Scoria, Super Calo
4) Alebrije, Latin Lover, Oriental, Zorro vs Abismo Negro, Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido
5) Chessman, Cibernetico, La Parka Jr. vs El Mesias, Kenzo Suzuki, Ozz

Is the main event the first time Parka’s teamed with Cibernetico during this angle? I think so. This is the first date we’ve seen Parka back for, but obviously there’s plenty of time between now and then for him to return.

Latin’s back again. If they’re actually going to do Latin/Abismo at TripleMania, you’d think they would have to start making it clear here.

Looks like Sexi Star has smartened up and stopped teaming with Billy. (It’s more Gran Apache/Air Force stuff.)

The mystery people in the opener are supposed to be Foreign Legion members.

Next Tapings
– 06/17 Toluca

05/21: Mistico in SLP, Sangre title defense

Coliseo and AAA results haven’t turned up yet.

CMLL (THU) 05/31 Palenque de la Feria de Gomez Palacio [La Afficon]
1) Pequeno Star vs Scriba Jr.
2) Centella Azul Jr. & Piloto Suicida vs Baby Olmos & Piloto Negro
3) Hijo de Sobearno, Mr. Guerrero, Tackle vs Arkangel, Dr. X, Loco Max
4) Olimpico & Ultimo Guerrero vs Mistico & Shocker

I presume this is the show Chui was referring to previously, wondering what promotions who had paid for Mistico would end up getting if he was hurt. Looks like they’re treating him like he’ll be all fine until news changes. I think you have to be worried about both tecnicos in that main event…

CMLL (FRI) 05/18 Oaxaca [Noticias-Oaxaca]
1) Stuka Jr. & Tigre Metalico b Loco Max & Rey Lobo
2) Lady Apache & Marcela b Amapola & Hiroka
3) Endevaor, Fantasma Jr., Sagrado b Dr. X, Nitro, Texano Jr.
4) Sangre Azteca b Vuleo Espacial [MEX WELTER]
5) Dr. Wagner & Marco Corelone b Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero
Marco replaced Shocker.

(El Paso Times) Mistico will be signing autographs in El Paso on Saturday at a soccer game, as the Patriots play Brilla FC. All kids wearing a luchador mask get in for free, and it’s dollar beer night, so they’re going to be packing the house. More info at elpaso-patriots.com. I don’t see a picture of Mistico anywhere, though, and this is around Incognito’s homebase. Hmmmmm.(More of a concern is USL’s site listing the team being in Austin on Saturday. I dunno.)

Latin Lover may be out of the TV program he’s on. Sounds like he had some sort of disagreement with the producers and he’s already preparing to move on – he references projects he has planned back in lucha libre.

(El Sol de San Luis Potosi) The dean of Social Science Anthropology at Universidad Autonoma de SLP stated lucha libre is enduringly popular in Mexico because it reflects the struggles of real life. This was part of a paper on lucha libre and popular culture, which also discussed the influence of Mexican lucha libre in other places of the world – a statue of Santo in a Lebanon movie theater, for example.

3) Arkangel, Efesto, Mephisto vs La Mascara, Maximo, Volador Jr.
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Mistico, Silver King vs Atlantis, Averno, Ultimo Guerrero

AAA posted a news update, confirming the Rey de Reyes bits we’d heard elsewhere – Rey Misterio to appear, 4 teams in the final (though they still don’t explain how).

Tonight’s the Tijuana Box Y Lucha commission banquet.

Fantastic piece of gossip which I believe came from the Observer, but I don’t recall 100% off the top of my head, so let’s just source it to Steve Sims: Recall how Latin Lover complained about Intocable and Elegido stealing his gimmick, and refusing to come back to AAA unless they were gone? He kinda got his wish. Those two guys are still with AAA, but AAA’s promised Latin that any show he’s booked on, they won’t be. Check for yourself – Latin’s worked the 03/03 taping and will work Rey de Reyes, and Intocable and Elegidio have the night off.

One other newsbit I’m sure came from the Observer – when Mistico did his WWE tryout, besides working with Dean Malenko, he also worked with Jamie Noble. That sounds like the greatest thing ever; Noble could SO be WWE’s Averno. Of course, I probably think way to highly of Noble – if you told me Mistico would get buried for 2 years in WWE but have a series of 10+ min matches with Jamie Noble on Velocity Redux, I’d strongly consider it – so don’t listen to me

03/06: Tijuana, XLAW, Monterrey, Mistico

La Presna jumps on the “there’s no way Mistico could possibly go to WWE” line, saying that Mistico’s already booked for months from now (and no one ever misses a booking) and is scheduled to start on a telenovela soon (?). It’s, uh, interesting how this article and the one yesterday are basically followup pieces to articles they never wrote.

This AP Story (which got picked up everywhere) about visiting Mexico City on $20 or less recommends lucha, of course.

The intrepid traveler on a budget shouldn’t miss the Lucha Libre, the Mexican version of the WWF, where you can see masked, muscly giants like Mistico and Blue Panther pummel one another in a crusty downtown arena that will bring Jack Black’s “Nacho Libre” to life.

No offense to Panther, but I’ve never thought of him that way. The article says tickets are already on ticketmaster – not yet, as far I’ve seen.
