04/21: Latin, Electroshock, Cibernetico

CMLL (TUE) 04/21 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II vs Apocalipsis & Semental
2) Caligula, Messala, Polvora vs Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata
3) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior
4) HIjo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Misterioso II
5) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto vs La Mascara, Mistico, Volador Jr.

Previews: Ovaciones, ESTO – hype is around another matchup of Averno & Mistico, which reminds me how funny it was to hear the announcers talk about Negro Casas being Mistico’s biggest rival. Mistico has a lot of biggest rivals.

AAA says Latin Lover is scheduled to appear at tonight’s AAA taping. I was starting to wonder who Latin would be parodying, but it occurs to me that maybe the parody will be of Latin Lover.

Electroshock talks about the Lucha Libre Expo, his career, his time outside of AAA (“I was wrong, I needed help, therapy”), and haters on the internet.

(Reforma viz Jazzo) Cibernetico talks about making peace with the Perros, but also calls them all babies. I don’t think that’s going to work. The whole back and forth still seems like an angle being worked thru the press rather than Cibernetico leaving the promotion.

Kcidis illustrates Dos Caras Jr., the applause seeking rudo. Maybe CMLL thought they needed a new Wagner?

Hablando de Catch, which confused me this morning with it’s new template, takes photos of lucha merchandise outside of arenas and a preview of a series of CMLL books on the history of lucha libre. That should be good.

The Las Vegas Sun had lots of fun at Sundy’s show with Super Crazy & Super Parka and took some pictures.

Paraiso de la Lucha Libre has photos of a sparely attended benefit shot for Ricky Ricon.

Box Y Lucha #2919 has Mistico’s hand print (slow week?). Inside, Alebrije, Cuije, Nygma and Angel all talk about leaving AAA. (Is it time for a new list?) Also, It reads like Valiente was asked to lose weight if he’s going to get pushed. He’s has dropped a bunch of weight. Box Y Lucha also has an article full of Luchadores Versus Animals, with pictures.

Luchas 2000 #467 has a similar assemblage of headlines.

DTU has photos of their wrestlers attempting to look stern at a press conference for their show on Sunday.

Wrestling Obsverer has their AAA recap

Segunda Caida watched 03/26/09 IWRG.

Ohtani’s Jacket catches up with some recent CMLL off YouTube.

Cesar grades Mascara Purpura (marked down for being roja! – wait, he’s supposed to be a Cardinal?), Bronco and Ephesto.

LuchaWorld has Robert on CMLL TV 01/12/08 and C3 from 01/05/08 and KrisZ’s news update

10/16: Puebla, GDL

CMLL (MON) 10/13 Arena Puebla [KrisZ]

1) Fire, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Nino de Acero, Pequeno Ninja, Último Dragoncito
2) Averno, Mephisto, Terrible b Fabián el Gitano, La Máscara, Volador Jr.
3) Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone [CMLL TRIOS]

They’re teasing a Fire/Dragoncito mask match here. Just like MVS and CTres, I’m sure TVC Deportes wants to have their own four week feuds.

CMLL (TUE) 10/14 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll, MT]
1) Virgo b Azazel
2) Impostor b Fraile de la Muerte
3) Rafaga b Carlo Roggi
4) Rey Trueno b Palacio Negro
5) Damián 666 b Rayman
6) Metal Blanco, Metalik, Sagrado b Mr. Águila, Mr. Trueno, Toscano
7) Dos Caras Jr. & Marco Corelone b Atlantis & Cien Caras Jr.

Metalik back in action here (and winning in straight falls), so I guess he’s okay. Tecnicos won the main event clean. Damian did foul Rayman and got away with it, so it’s not like there was all clean finishes or anything crazy.

CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 10/14 Arena Mexico
1) Carrona & Zayco vs Molotov & Sombra de Plata
2) Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Hijo del Faraon b Calígula, Hooligan, Méssala

AAA makes it sound like Latin Lover is back and not just making a one week appearance. AAA is slowly putting up info about last night’s taping, and I’ll post it here after it all goes up.

Blue Panther is pleased with the creation of Ola Lagunera, but has no plan on going back to the rudo side. Misterioso II was surprised to be to considered among possible Ola Lagunera members, but would join if Ultimo or Panther asked.

Rey Misterio was added to the Tijuana Walk of Fame.

Los Campeones de la Lucha Libre: another interview with the voice of Dragon Rojo Jr., interview with the voice and director, and SuperLuchas giving away the tickets.

SoloLuchas has interviews with IWRG’s Miss Gaviota (claims Pimpinela is his cousin) and Aerostar (defensive about his innovation, Pena sketched out his look but didn’t come up with the name before he died), and an injury update on Amapola (hurrying to come back in 3 to 4 weeks.)

Spanish language review of “LUCHA LIBRE: Life Behind The Mask.

The Gladiatores has video interviews with Hijo de Solitario, Xochitl Hamada and Esther & Rossy Moreno.

Kcidis has a nice color restoration of a black and white photo of Astro de Oro.

06/22: Mexico preview, SLP

Another slow day. Canada’s goal should’ve counted.

Quick reminder of today’s Arena Mexico card….

CMLL (FRI) 06/22 Arena Mexico
1) Super Nova & Valiente vs Polvora & Vaquero
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
3) La Mascara, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
4) Atlantis, Tozcano, Ultimo Guerrero vs Damian 666, Villano III, Villano V
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corleone, Shocker vs Hector Garza, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Aguila

Preview: ESTO. Ovaciones still has yesterday’s edition on their site.

I’m not really sure what the issue in the main event is supposed to be. Maybe Lizmark Jr.’s return to action? (He’s only been gone a couple of weeks.) High Society/Perros is a feud, but not one they’ve worked on lately. Not that the Villanos have wowed, but at least that match is a bit hotter.

ESTO has an interview with Bucanero, hyping up his show. They go with July 20th here – it’s still 22nd in Ovaciones. ESTO does the vote plug as well, and it occurs to me now that CMLL surely is not going to be counting up the votes from a bunch of different newspapers and articles. They’re just going to tell Ultimo to be ready to work, and Atlantis and Toscano to be ready to look like you were going to work. ESTO also has a notes roundup (they’re pretending to put tickets on Ticketmaster again, starting this Tuesday) and a phone interview with Diana (who would’ve won if only not for her kidney stones and twisted ankle.) Diana’s looking for a rematch in Monterrey in August, which doesn’t leave her a lot of time to grow her hair.

AAA (WED) 06/20 Auditorio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi [El Sol]
1) ?, Astro Latino, Dragon Chino ?? Principe Leon, Turbo X, X Turbo
2) Apolo Star, Centella Inca, Super AAA ?? Americo, Black Maravilla, Cosaco Loco
3) Fabi Apache, Rossy Moreno, Tiffany b Cinthia Moreno, Estrellita, Sexy Star
4) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Mascara Divina DQ Antifaz del Norte, Brazo de Plata Jr., Chris Stone
5) Fuerza Guerrera, Hator, Zumbido b Latin Lover, Super Astro, Tinieblas Jr.

Tineiblas subbed for Juvi. Latin Lover beat Hator for the win. In the semimain, Antifaz fouled Crazy Boy for the DQ. I think Brazo Jr. with the rudos was just a random thing – like Zumbido interfering in the women’s match. Gran Hamada made an appearance on the show.

Attendance is listed as slightly above average – disappointing, but someone credited to the previous Mistico riot.

07/01 AAA TV Taping Lineup (Monterrey)

5) Charly Manson, Chessman, Zorro vs Abismo Negro, Antifaz, Histeria
6) Cibernetico, La Parka Jr., Latin Lover vs Kenzo Suzuki, Ron Killings, X-Pac

Air Date
Mex: 07/08
US: 07/28

Hey, Konnan’s a man of his word – that took about two days. I’m not as high on Killings as people who were watching TNA during this title run, but I’m thinking, if you’ve got to do foreign heels, he’s better than Head Hunter. What a collection on that tecnico side – if they weren’t all out of angles before TripleMania, I’d almost expect a “shock” turn, because it’s less weird than those three.

Mesias is listed with the Vipers team in the semimain (and, one would assume, also there to take Abismo’s place if needed.)

I don’t know if Juvi vs Fuerza in a chain match will be good, but I do believe it’ll be interesting. Joe Lider and Sangre Chicana are seconds.

Let’s all pretend I didn’t give away where they’re going with the Alfa bit. I can’t believe I got that one on blind luck.

No Hamadas? Are the clowns done already?

Tickets are 100 to 300 ($9.3 US to $27.9).

06/10 AAA TV Taping Results (Merida)

AAA TV (SUN) 06/10 Poliforum Zamna de Merida [El Mitomano @ box y lucha, KrisZ]
1) Cinthia Moreno & Estrellita DQ Ayako Hamada & Canadian Angel
2) Laredo Kid & Sexy Star b Fabi Apache & Gran Apache
3) Cuervo, Escoria, Espíritu, Psicosis II b Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger, Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera
4) Alberije, Latin Lover, Oriental, Zorro b Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Super Calo, Zumbido
5) El Mesias, Kenzo Suzuki, Ozz b Chessman, Cibernetico, La Parka Jr.

Air Date
Mex: 06/17
US: 07/07

Tecnico team up in the main event failed, but that was due to a lot of run-ins. After the match, Cibernetico challenged Mesias to a hair match at TripleMania. That card floating around has a six man tag with those two and hair on the line, so this fits that lineup but doesn’t confirm it.

Latin did win the seminfinal, small package on Scorpio, but was laid out by the Legion/Sect after the match. They also did a bit with the local promoter defending the honor of Merida to Konnan. Super Calo replaced Abismo Negro in the match. AAA’s been good about mentioning injuries of late, so I don’t think that’s the problem with Abismo. I think they’d also pull him from lineups if it was a suspension with a known end date, so that leaves – contract issue? He really should’ve been here to keep the feud with Latin going, and that he’s not means it’s serious.

Juvi was hurt going into the tercera and probably didn’t actively particpate. It turned into a hardcore match, and both Lider and Tiger ended being hurt during the course of the match.

Fabi Apache got the foreign women disqualified – I’m assuming that’s Tiana Ringer being given a Sarah Stock-like gimmick until told otherwise – for interference. So of course, Nemesis did not get the tecnicos DQed for doing the same thing a match later. Welcome to AAA.
