03/24: Abismo Negro, Juvi, Perros

(so i’ve updated this post about twice in the fifteen minutes since it’s gone up. Sorry about that.)

There will be a service for Abismo today at six pm in Mexico City, so those he worked with can see him off one last time. He’s expected to be taken from there to Villahermosa, the town he was born in, to be buried.

The family identified the body yesterday, and both them and the local promoters (one of which helped search for him) have decided to say no more about the circumstances of Abismo’s death.

A wire story of his death, based off the original noroeste story and AAA’s press release about Abismo’s death has been in many papers the last two days. The second day stories are more pointing out how what AAA is saying for cause of death (heart attack) doesn’t match the noroeste story, though they have no information about why there’s that difference. The noroeste story also included a line from the local coroner suggesting steroids played a part, but that would have to be a guess on his part at this point since figuring out that sort of information usually takes much larger (if they seek it out at all – Figure Four Weekly says there will be no autopsy or further investigation at this point.)

EDIT: Tabasco Hoy (warning, here’s the picture of Abismo’s body again) says there was an autopsy done, and the official cause of death has been ruled to be drowning. There’s no clairfaction of any drugs in his system.

AAA says they found out about Abismo’s death around the end of the Monterrey taping (which caused them to cancel a post-show photo session with fans.)

In a weird note, someone wrestled as Abismo Negro Saturday night in Cancun. Absimo was scheduled to headline the AAA show in a trios with Alex & X-Pac vs Black Abyss, Chessman, and Kenzo, and AAA has said the last show Abismo worked was in Sinaloa two nights before. The local wrestlers interviewed say they thought they greed Abismo Negro as he came into the building, but it was a different guy going to the ring. Simplest answer is Black Abyss worked as Abismo Negro and someone else worked on the rudo side.

The show goes on. There was a moment of applause and remembrance for Abismo at last night’s AAA weekly show in Arena Cuatro Caminos in Nuevo Laredo.

Today’s Figure Four Weekly has the other side of the Juvi story. After Juvi found his bag, he was screaming about it in incoherent English to Konnan, blaming him, except the incoherent part meant Konnan had no idea what he was saying. Juvi later confronted Jack, and apparently bit him on the nose, so Jack destroyed him (by himself – no Konnan here.) Note to self: do not bite Jack Evans on the nose.

CMLL will start to air in France in a couple weeks. They’ll be showing a one hour show of the Friday Arena Mexico tapings on Wednesdays, starting on April 8, on Canal Jimmy. It’s going to be quite delayed from what airs in Mexico; first show is Villano V vs Blue Panther in a mask match. Hopefully the good people of France can avoid spoilers.

Hablando de Catch has a photo set of a (EAW) ring being taken apart.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 01/12 and 01/13 CMLL MVS shows, and 10/9/03 Monterrey, plus KrisZ’s

indy (FRI) 03/27 Arena Neza
1) Fuerza Guerrera & Scorpio Jr. vs Head Hunter I & Head Hunter II
2) Dr. Wagner Jr., El Hijo Del Santo, La Park vs Damian 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween

Perros (FRI) 04/03 Coliseo Olimpico de la Universidad de Guadalajara
1) Cosmico & La Parkita vs Mr. Aguilita & Pequeño Halloween
2) Gringo Loco & X-Fly vs Manowar & Payasito Luchin
3) Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila vs Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman
4) El Hijo Del Santo & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & el Hijo del Perro Aguayo

That’s a strong lineup, with tickets from 300 to 50 pesos ($21 – $3.50), where CMLL is going with 175 to 20 pesos ($12.25 – $1.40), with cheaper tickets for kids.

03/22: IWRG, Toreo, Mistico, Wagner, Juvi, Dos Leyenda, lineups

IWRG (SAT) 03/14 Arena Xochimilco [SuperLuchas #307]
1) Mixteco Jr. b Goleador
2) Galactik & Miss Gaviota b Avisman & Vampiro Metalico
3) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro b Multifacetico, Trauma I, Trauma II
4) Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman Jr. DQ Arlequin, Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Pierroth II
5) Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Scorpio Jr. [Rey del Ring]

New champ. Scorpio had MA2K Jr. done in a half crab, but both he and the refree were distracted by Hijo de Pierroth (Mascara’s second) beating up Multifacetico (Scorpio’s second) on the outside. Scropio let go, Mascara snuck in a foul and pinned him for the win. DQ in the semimain was for Pierroth II yanking Solar’s mask.

El Toreo (WED) 03/18 Arena Lopez Mateos [SuperLuchas #307]
1) Sombra Escarlata & Spider Boy b Mr. Flama & Sol de Oriente
2) Azabache Negro, Rey Cobra, Sismo b Black Man II, Falcon, Flecha (Skayde)
3) Romano Garcia b Danny Boy [hair]
4) Robin Hood Jr. & Super Panda b Epitafio & Terry 2000
5) Canek b Cibernetico [#1 Contenders, UWA HEAVY]
6) Dos Caras Sr., Killer Jr., Sicodelico Sr. DQ Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V

Mil was supposed to be in the main event, but was angry about something – I think the article says about not being in the main event, which doens’t make sense – and walked out of the building before his match (walking in front of the crowd to make sure they knew he showed.) Doesn’t look like this bit is drawing sell outs any more, at least not this night. Villano V yanked Dos’ mask for a DQ.

It took Cibernetico being accidentally hit by his second (Killer Jr.) and being fouled by Canek for him to lose here. That’s actually not as much as I’d thought.

Again, fighting between the seconds (Robin Hood Jr. and Rocky Santana) allowed Romano to sneak in a piledriver on Danny Boy for the win.

SuperLuchas #307 also has a big interview with Mistico. Besides the usual “I’d like to face whoever win the mask match” bit, Mistico also notes that when he was in Japan and CMLL did a Sombra/Volador vs Averno/Mephisto tag title match, it was a poor house. Mistico wants more people to be stars, but feels he should get more credit for how much he means and how hard he works. Mistico feels like he’s winning the crowd back little by little this year (though that didn’t seem to be case Friday night.) This interview is totally worth going out of you way to read for yourself.

IWRG (THU) 03/19 Arena Naucalpan
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Fuerza Guerrera, Zatura b Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Mascara ANo 2000 Jr., Oficial 911

Give him credit – Dr. Wagner indeed made this show. The usual trend for guys who join one of the big 2 is to promise they’ll still be doing all their independent bookings when the press is there, and then quickly bail on them. (Silver King and Super Porky come to mind.) Lots of respect for Wagner if he’s breaking that tend.

Coincidentally, Wagnermania has Wagner cutting a promo on website commenters critical of him joining AAA. Dr. Wagner Jr. is a YouTube shooter, which can only mean the world is coming to an end. The Gladiatores have their own interview with Dr. Wagner about current effects.

Didn’t occur to me last night, but there was no Wagner angle on Friday’s AAA taping despite one being obviously set up in Madero. AAA is now listing Wagner’s self promoted shows, which are now using AAA talent.

The other news not exactly mentioned on luchalibreaaa.com is a backstage incident with Juvi, at least if you’re willing to believe his story in Record. “The leader of the Mexican Powers” (that’s what the article says) tells Record that he went out for his match, and came back to find his bag filled with human waste. Juvi went to Jack Evans to accuse him of doing it, when Konnan attacked him and Jack joined in. Juvi claims he’s got a broken nose, and bruises on his face and body.

This is surely the same story Lizzy Valentine is referring to on her mySpace page when talking about leaving AAA. This is also all Juvi’s side of the story, and his history of telling tall tales makes it really hard to take anything he says at face value – there’s definitely more going on here. (FWIW, Jack was in Juvi’s match, and still in the ring when Juvi escaped the cage, so Juvi really could really stand to improve his sleuthing abilities.)

However, the general public (and the press) are probably going to be unaware of Juvi’s history and this story looks really bad for AAA if it gets picked up in more places. It really depends on how far the story gets, but it’s tough to spin the leader of the wrestlers taking part in a two on one mugging and there’s probably some public punishment coming if this gets taken seriously. Also, whomever gave to okay to hire Juvi back inside the company (not Konnan!) is probably not too thrilled with it going so bad so quick.

Short term, Juvi’s done in AAA. I’d assume Ultimo Gladiador takes his spot in the cruiserweight tournament. Ultimo Gladiador seems to be a good dude, but no one’s been as quite as fortunate with absences as he has in AAA – he got started their with Crazy Boy’s injury and has gotten to hang around and better spots because of Juvi’s flakiness (and Super Crazy not coming in.)

Dos Leyenda follow up stories:

Villano V says he never even considered he was going to lose, and was hoping to main event a third straight anniversary show. He vows to continue fighting.

Ultimo Guerrero wants Villano IV to finish the Villanos off. UG credits Blue Panther with coming up with the idea to use the toque universal to pin Villano in the end, and goes as far as dedicating the win to Panther.

– ESPNDeportes restates the point that Villano IV is and will be the last masked Villano standing; they’ve told their sons to create their identities and not take their names (just as they did with their father Ray Mendoza), so there’ll be no Villano VI coming.

– Televisa Deportes picture comes along with tons of pictures

– I was wrong – Accion indeed has video of this match tonight. If ever one needed to understand the difference between the two promotions, this was a good two minutes for you – CMLL had a huge match decided by an abdominal stretch cradle, and this was followed by Chessman/Mesias in a cage using light tubes, and walking above the cage on barbed wire cords. Are they really both promoting the same lucha libre?

Box Y Lucha posted a truck load of articles Friday morning, none of which I saw until much later because Google Reader decided not to show new articles in half my feeds. (I think I fixed it, but who knows. As always, if I miss something worth reading, let me know.) There’s so many of them, I’m not going to write as much about them, but that doesn’t mean they’re not interesting.

They’ve got La Parka Jr. telling LA Park to get over it already and complaining about not being nominated for the the Televisa luchador award (he thought the idea was for the nominees to just be Mexican)

Dos Caras Jr. explaining his teased rudo turn was resolved off camera (everyone’s friends again, hooray), Axel talking the end of his CMLL sting much like in his SuperLuchas interview, Dark Angel talking about her trip to Japan (and not TNA, yet), Star Fire talking about her short career so far (totally wins me over in one interview, I’m a sucker), Sombrita and Mascara Dorada talking about the Puebla cage match, and Juanito Diaz, lightweight champion of the 60s. There’s also columns on Solar/Negro Navarro, Villano III on backstage fights (how timely!) and history pieces on Angel Azteca. Plus, a couple look back at Ultimo Guerrero‘s career, as if teasing a major change this past Friday.

An editoral in El Siglo de Torreon complains about the quality of libre referring. For some odd reason, they don’t think referee Viruta getting caught in the moment and doing a top rope plancha onto the wrestlers shows much impartiality.

LuchaWorld has Robert on the 12/08-9 and 12/15-16 CMLL MVS Shows, as well as KrisZ‘s news update.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 03/26 Arena Naucalpan
1) Garra de Aguila vs Keshin Black
2) Galactik & Mascara Magnifica vs Carta Brava Jr. & Mixteco Jr.
3) Fantastik, Freelance, Turbo vs Black Terry, BLack Thunder, Capitan Muerte
4) Head Hunter I, Head Hunter II, Veneno vs Arlequin, Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Pierroth II
5) Fuerza Guerrera vs Oficial 911 [IWRG IC WELTER]

911 lost, will get a title shot. OKAY. Turbo and Black Thunder appear to have become regulars here (as much as anyone who’s not a core guy is a regular.)

IWRG (SAT) 03/28 Arena Xochimilco
1) Garra de Aguila vs Comando Negro
2) Eragon & Latin Brother vs Carta Brava Jr. & Vampiro Metalico
3) Mascarita Sagrada & Octagoncito I vs Espectrito de Ultratumba & Piratita Morgan
4) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Universo 2000 vs Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG) & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. [relevos sucidas]
6) ? vs ?? [mask]

Actually, I’m taking a leap and assuming they’re doing the final on this show, but the tag match is solicated as a relevos suicidas. Pretty clear favorite to lose of the four.

CMLL (SUN) 03/29 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II vs Cholo & Zayco
2) Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori vs Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Rosa Negra
3) Hijo del Fantasma, Mictlan, Sagrado vs Ephesto, Lizmark Jr., Terrible
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Mistico vs Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Been racking my brain all day, trying to figure out what the bonus match is. There’s no feud that I can think of – the show two weeks ago has little to do wtih the today’s show (thanks to all the subs.) One of Bam Bam, Pierrothito, Sombra or Sangre Azteca is probably defending their title here, if it’s at all being set up tonight. Feels like it could just be a typo.

CHOLO! Getting worried about him for a bit. Speaking of MIA guys, anyone seen Mascara Purpura lately? No matches in the last month, since the lightning match in Puebla.

CMLL (SUN) 03/29 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Katana & Malefico vs Angel del Mal & Infierno [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
2) Palacio Negro & Samurai vs Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
3) Boomerang & Gallo vs Acertijo & Mr. Trueno [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
4) Maximo, Sagrado, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) a replacement for Toscano, Hector Garza, Shocker vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero

Toscano’s booked like normal this week, but can’t make any of those shows. Warrior continues to work in GDL. That’s round 4 of the torneo, and I’m sure I’ll do a breakdown of the tournament later (so you know there’s a post coming to skip.)

03/15: Juvi, Warrior, Axxel, Lineups

(This news update is surely the most out of date before it’s published. At least partial Rey de Reyes results up next.)

COMING: Box Y Lucha is reporting Juvi has return to AAA, after a seven month absence. (He has already shown up, and I’ll get to it in a bit.)

GOING?: A Reforma article says Black Warrior is suspended indefinitely for no-showing events. Yet again – Reforma counts this as the fourth time, which sounds about right. Article notes Sangre Azteca and Dragon Rojo have no idea what this means for Poder Mexica.

GONE: Super Luchas #306 includes an interview with Axel, who confirms he’s done in CMLL. He’s sent in his resignation, but they just haven’t booked him since he appeared on the GDL Lucha Libre Festival (running against a CMLL show that night.) Axel explains that as having had permission to continue his indepedent schedule and having booked that date before signing with CMLL. In usual CMLL fashion, Axxel’s heard absolutely nothing from the company since that date. He also feels he was featured less after refusing to sign an agreement to give CMLL full rights over his name and identity (to the point where they could give it someone else someday – I would presume that’s standard for all the guys who are currently with CMLL full time.)

AAA’s website is promising an interview with Cibernetico about being booked on the US swing, since AAA’s office is not explaining it. AAA’s website talking to wrestlers, what a crazy idea. Meanwhile, they worry Abismo Negro might be distracted from winning Rey de Reyes by his feud with Black Abyss. Seeing as that happened last year, it’s a good bet.

ESTO previews Rey de Reyes, pegging Silver King as the favorite for Rey de Reyes, with Latin Lover, La Parka and Black Abyss strong candidates. Ovaciones also has a preview (and not another one of the GDL card) as well as the CMLL and IWRG ones.

Early reports out of Guadalajara say Chivas/Atlas was well out drawing Rey de Reyes early. I can only imagine how Coliseo is doing. There’s also a preview of both shows.

WagnerMania posts video of Charly Manson on Tercera Caida

A column in Box Y Lucha disputes the notion that flying lucha libre is a new thing.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 03/19 Arena Naucalpan
1) Galactik vs Epidemia
2) Miss Gaviota & Skayde vs Carta Brava Jr. & Heavy Boy
3) Freelance, Pendulo, Turbo vs Black Terry, Mr. Condor, Muerte Roja
4) Chico Che, Fantastik, Multifacetico vs Arlequin, Black Terry, Pierroth II
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Fuerza Guerrera, Zatura vs Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Oficial 911

Reps from NWA Mexico, UWE and Wagner here. Wish it was an ongong thing, but at least this show gives us Turbo working higher than Skayde for once. Pierroth’s are getting a big push here leading up to the Pierroth benefit show, I think.

GROON (SAT) 03/21 Arena Azteca Budokan
1) Rey Neza vs TOny Cirio, Maquina de la Muerte, Skyderman, Potro de Plata, Galactico, Demente, Espiral Negro, Pilio, Caballero Bus
2) Mini Cibernetico, Mini Ozz, Mini Scorpio vs Mini Apache, Mini Oriental, Mini Zumbido
3) Rossy Moreno vs Lola Gonzalez, Vicky Carranza, Esther Moreno, Crazy Star, Valentina, Flor Metalica, La Chola, Afrodita, Cyber Star, Demente, Miss Janeth [cage]
4) Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman vs El Signo, Negro Navarro, Rambo
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Scorpio Jr., Ultraman Jr., Zumbido vs Cien Caras Jr., El Hijo del Solitario, Hijo de Leatherface, LA Park

And this is the Groon Tribute show.

IWRG (SAT) 03/21 Arena Xochimilco
1) Galactik vs King Drako
2) Eragon & Latin Brother vs Avsiman & Mixteco
3) Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II, Zatura vs Black Terry, Fantasma de la Opera, Tetsuya Bushi
4) Multifacetico, Pendulo, Ultraman Jr. vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Bobby Lee Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Scorpio Jr. vs Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Universo 2000

Zatura and Bushi still seemed tied up, so their feud is probably ongoing.

CMLL (SUN) 03/22 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Acertijo & Mr. Trueno vs Katana & Malefico [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
2) Palacio Negro & Samuari vs Angel del Mal & Infierno [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
3) Boomerang & Gallo vs Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
4) Mascara Dorada, Mictlan, Valiente vs Felino, Satanico, Virus
5) Averno, Mephisto, Texano Jr. vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero

Yay, the right teams. Also, Felino, Satnaico and Virus are apparently the magical Dorada Carrying Trio.

IWRG (SUN) 03/22 Arena Naucalpan
1) Galactik & Halcon 2000 vs Comando Negro & Epidemia
2) Mascara MAgnifica & Miss Gaviota vs Africa Salvaje & Sangre Africana
3) Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II, Pendulo vs Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Mixteco Jr.
4) Multifacetico, Ultraman Jr., Zatura vs Andy Barrow, Arlequin, Black Terry
5) Bobby Lee Jr., Fantasma Jr., Scorpio Jr. vs Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Pierroth II, Universo 2000

I like that second match, just to help IWRG pump up the unique wrestler count again.

CMLL (SUN) 03/22 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Sensei vs Caligula & Messala
2) Bam Bam, Saturno, Ultimo Dragoncito vs Pequeno Violencia, Pequeno Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Rosa Negra
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, La Sombra vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Marco Corleone, Mistico, Shocker vs Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Neither mask man here, but Negro and Mistico rematch.

Saturno? There’s a guy last year in Guadalajara and Monterrey with that name. Probably not the same guy! (Probably the GDL guy.)

09/28: IWRG, links, lineups

Solo Luchas
Solo Luchas

IWRG (THU) 09/25 Arena Naucalpan [SuperLuchas #283
1) DVD b Anubis
2) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II b Eragon & Pendulo
3) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Sauron b Freelance, Jack, Zatura
4) el Hijo Del Anibal, Latino, Multifacético b Black Terry, el Hijo del Pierroth, Veneno
5) Juventud Guerrera & Zumbido b Fuerza Guerrera & Shocker

Guerrera turned out to be true to their word – they refused to fight each other during the match…at least until Fuerza surprised Juvi with an armbar to win a fall. After the match, the Guerreras turned on the ex-Guapos.

Latino is a Villalobos wrestler, a Latin Lover knock off. Dr. Cerebro still wants that title shot against Freelance. People trip over title shots in IWRG, I don’t know what’s taking that one so long.

There’s no big article places, but this week’s SuperLuchas also notes in a couple places that there’s a unhappiness with TV Azteca airing WWE SmackDown on Friday nights, feeling it could damage Arena Meixco business.

Villano V is livid with Mistico for trying to take away from his victory by suggesting there might have been a Villano switch. V5 doesn’t want to wait until next Anniversary, he wants to face Mistico right now – Mistico may be hurt but so is V5 – so he can take his mask and maybe break his leg.

Meanwhile, Blue Panther does not like the idea of a career vs career match with the Villanos.

Fabian el Gitano opened a gym yesterday, and the opening was well attended by CMLL wrestlers. I think I speak for everyone where I wish the gym is a tremendous success, to the point where Fabian is so busy counting his money that he no longer has a chance to wrestle. Interesting side notes: Dragon Rojo Jr. showed up as Diamante Negro for reasons he didn’t feel like explaining coherently (he says it was to be confusing, and it was) and Okumura showed up to remind Fabian they still have issues. Fabian vowed to break Okumura’s other arm given the chance, and promised to not lose like Mictlan if Diamante Negro ever put up his mask agianst his.

Villano III and Tinieblas (Sr.) talk to El Heralado de Tabasco. Tinieblas says he’s considering retiring, but he’d want to have a grand retirement show with eeveryone who he’s ever known. V3 says Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero are little girls afraid he’s going to take their masks.

SuperLuchas has lots from the Lucha Libre Fan Fest: general milling about, Villano V, and Dark Angel. They’ve also got footage from LA Park in Spain.

In Ovaciones, Pantera Surena says she’s returning to the ring (for Martha’s group) and wants to put together a group of mini luchadoras.

AAA has a note about wrestlers help out at tree planting chairty event. The Psycho Cirucs have now planted 200 tress without being defeated!

LuchaWorld has Robert on 03/25 CMLL TV (pondering the existence of Princesa Blanca) and Rey dey Reyes 06 as well as KrisZ’s news update.

WrestlingObserver recaps this week’s AAA TV show.

WagnerMania’s posted a Blue Demon Jr. interview.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 10/02 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon vs Epidemia
2) Pendulo & Terror Negro vs Judas el Traidor & Sauron
3) Freelance, Pegaso Extreme, Rey Cometa vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) el Hijo Del Anibal, Latino, Multifacético vs Black Terry, el Hijo del Pierroth, Ghost Rider
5) Shocker & Zumbido vs Fuerza Guerrera & Toscano

I think Shocker and Toscano have met before. That’s the ex-Fuerza Aerea guys working the second match as IWRG approaches it’s (apparent) goal of using 300 different wrestlers this year.

NWA Mexico (SAT) 10/04 Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera
1) Turbo vs Black Thunder
2) Skayde vs Dr. Cerebro
3) Super Muneco vs Pierko el Boricua
4) Incógnito vs Danger
5) Negro Navarro vs Solar I, Shu el Guerrero, Black Terry
6) Blue Demon Jr. vs El Dandy
7) Juvi, Mil Mascaras, Tarzan Boy vs Antifaz, Hator, Head Hunter I

Slightly adjust from when it was announced – No Shocker and no Cien Caras.

CMLL (SUN) 10/05 Arena Coliseo
1) Leono, Metálico, Tigre Blanco vs Ephesto, Vangelis, Virus
2) Fabián el Gitano, Stuka Jr., Tony Rivera vs Halcon Negro, Loco Max, Satánico
3) Grey Shadow, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Mephisto, Mr. Águila
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Atlantis, Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla

Not only do we have four matches (they’ve got a filler one for the 5th), but also Halcon Negro continues his non appearances. Ephesto and Virus working the opener doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense either, so maybe there’s more of a shuffle coming here.

The best part of this Halcon Negro lineup stuff is it’s not just some pre-release version of the lineup going out to the magazines, it’s what CMLL is posting on their website every week.

CMLL (SUN) 10/05 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar vs Valentin Mayo
2) Idolo & Nube Roja vs Exterminador & Güero Loco
3) Magnum, Metal Balnco, Metatron vs Infierno, Mr. Trueno, Rey Tureno
4) La Máscara & Máximo vs Hijo del Fantasma & Valiente and Olímpico & Último Guerrero and Misterioso II & Sangre Azteca [torneo corona, sf]

Just after they finished one tournament here, they start another.

IWRG (SUN) 10/05 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon vs ?
2) Miss Gaviota & Super Halcon vs Drakot Kid & Furia Guerrera
3) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II vs Cerebro Negro & Dr. Cerebro
4) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Black Terry, el Hijo del Pierroth, Veneno
5) Latino, Multifacético, Tinieblas Jr. vs Head Hunter I, Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

Mesias talks about TNA

Over on the Noti AAA Blog, there’s an interview with Mesias, who explains both AAA and TNA are okay with him working for both promotions and they’re working on his dates so there’s no conflict, despite the Konnan/Killings stuff.

Mesias says he’ll start on the next PPV, running in on Abyss’ match, and then they’ll tape a skit for TV where he tortures Abyss. Explaining the angles you’re going to do ahead of time is probably not the way to go (least of all because they’ll probably change their minds five more times.)

They also plugs Juvi’s website, http://www.juventudgx.com/ – much like Crazy Boy’s site, it’s starting out as a single page picture plugging a contest.

06/12: Puebla, Hamadas, Lineups

CMLL (MON) 06/11 Arena Puebla [hugo999 @ box y lucha]
1) Forajido, Super Star, SWAT b Aguila Guerrera, Ares, Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Centella de Oro, Legionario, the Tiger CO Espiritu Malgino, Karissma, Toro Bill Jr.
3) La Sombra, Super Nova, Valiente b Dr. X, Negro Navarro, Nitro
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero b Atlantis, Averno, Mephisto
5) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila

Tecnicos won the main event in straight falls and want a shot at the Mexican Trios titles. Espiritu Maligno was hurt on a dive by the Tiger, which ended the match. Tiger kept attacking him as he was being carted off, which restarted a brawl with the rudos.

Madrea @ El Martiente has pictures of the AAA Merida taping on Sunday, though they’re still not up yet and not as much on results. He notes the building was full, but a lot seemed to be there only for Latin Lover. (So, that’s 8 comments at least.) Juvi didn’t wrestle, due to some sort of arm injury and Cuije was using a walker – maybe these things will make sense after hearing about the previous taping.

La Presna talks about Ayako Hamada debuting in AAA over the weekend, as well as “Angela from TNA”. (???) Gran Hamada is also starting with the promotion, and the article teases a Mixed Title title challenge.

Some fans were critical of Los Cinco Magnificos because Perro’s opposition seemed more talented, but lost on votes. Perro Aguayo Jr. defended his win, saying his team was the best.

Box Y Lucha #2822 has Mistico winning the LdP. Nice action photo too.

El Halcon #92 is up, with interviews with Maximo, Lady Apache and Tzuki.

The San Diego county fair will have (unspecified) lucha libre on Saturday and Sunday. According to the website, there’s two shows on each day, free with admission to the fair.

This article about marketing towards Hispanics includes a photo of Blue Demon Jr. throwing out the first pitch at a Dodgers game. Weird. (thanks to mikeinformer.)

Selected lineups below. Figure out the latest random Japanese youngster who’s wrestling in IWRG.
