Texano advances (!), IWRG results, next week’s lineups

CMLL (FRI) 06/05 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, Box Y Lucha, Cesar, SuperLuchas]
1) Astro Boy & Bengala b Caligula & Messala
2) Amapola, La Nazi, Princesa Blanca b Dark Angel, Lluvia, Sahori

3) Heavy Metal, Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura b La Mascara, Metro, Sagrado
4) Black Warrior b Mascara Dorada [CMLL Universal, eightfinal]
5) Texano Jr. b Hijo del Fantasma [CMLL Universal, eightfinal]
6) Averno b Dragon Rojo Jr. [CMLL Universal, eightfinal]
7) La Sombra b Sangre Azteca [CMLL Universal, eightfinal]
8) Texano Jr. b Black Warrior [CMLL Universal, quarterfinal]
9) La Sombra b Averno [CMLL Universal, quarterfinal]
10) Texano Jr. b La Sombra [CMLL Universal, semifinal]
11) Hector Garza, Shocker, Volador Jr. DQ Dos Caras Jr., Naito, Yujiro

Surprise: Texano advances to the final. Not a surprise: no match over 5 minutes in the tournament. Texano beat everyone clean (though Warrior more wiped himself out on a missed dive than anything Texano did), and apparently his finish is the Tornado Texas.

No parnters facing partners, this time around.

Dos got desperate in the main event and fouled Shocker. That sets up a super libre (no DQ) match between the two.

Ovaciones says Star Fire replaced Marcela in the woman’s match, but Cesar and SuperLuchas both say it was Lluvia. Ovaciones says Marcela missed the match because she’ll be undergoing knee surgery today (actually, before the time you’ll have read this) – I hope they’re wrong there too, but they’re probably correct.

FWIW, the Universal championship sure looks like yet another belt, and not a one time tournament trophy.

Kcidis’ latest cartoon looks at the guys who won their way into this tournament.

IWRG (THU) 06/04 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Guizmo b Radamantis
2) Epidemia & Heavy Boy b Comando Negro & Goleador
3) Avisman, Fantasma de la Opera, Tetsuya Bushi b Diva Salvaje, Miss Gaviota, Pendulo
4) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro b Trauma I, Trauma II, Zatura
5) Fuerza Guerrera, Pirata Morgan, Ricky Cruzz b Angelico, Bobby Lee Jr., Scorpio Jr.

They’re building a feud between Ricky Cruzz and Angelico, though I don’t know if Cruzz is scheduled to be around long enough to pay that off. Zatura accidently hit one of the Traumas to cost his team the match, and the Traumas beat him up after.

Proyeccion Luchistica talks with Pirata Morgan about the Infernales.

Luchando Libre previews tonight’s final AAA taping before TripleMania.

WagnerMania has a two part interview with Psycho Clown.

DJ Spectro has photos of the new Santo exhibition.

CMLL (TUE) 06/09 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Principe Valiente vs Camorra & Cholo
2) Amapola, La Nazi, La Seductora vs Dark Angel, Estrella Magica, Sahori
3) Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo
4) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Mictlan vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr.
5) Blue Panther, Shocker, Toscano vs Naito, Ultimo Guerrero, Yujiro

Toscano’s return.

CMLL (FRI) 06/12 Arena Mexico
1) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
2) Maximo, Sagrado, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
3) Mistico vs Ultimo Guerrero, Hector Garza, Volador Jr., La Mascara, Negro Casas, Mephisto, Ephesto [CMLL UNIVERSAL, torneo]
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Toscano vs Atlantis, Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla
5) Shocker vs Dos Caras Jr.

Ultimo Guerrero vs Texano seems possible. Negro Casas vs Texano seems possible – more so than Texano vs La Mascara, actually. I think Mephisto and Ephesto can be ruled out. Main event is NOT listed as super libre.

Tickets are 1 peso ($.08 US) for any child with an adult. I’d bet on this show going quite long, and CMLL doing anything else they can think of to make sure you’re not interested in seeing another show the next day.

CMLL (SUN) 06/14 Arena Mexico
1) Starman & Trueno vs Artillero & Super Comando
2) Fabian el Gitano, Metalico, Tony Rivera vs Bronco III, Dr. X, Hooligan
3) Flash, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
4) Blue Panther, Mictlan, Sagrado vs Ephesto, Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr.
5) Averno, Mephisto, Texano Jr. vs Hector Garza, Mistico, Toscano

Fan appreciation show being the day after TripleMania is also no concidence. Is the (current) main event a hint as towards next week’s final? The Trios title match is not listed, yet.

AAA (WED) 07/01 Cancha German Evers
1) Shyru Dragon vs Mario Mora
2) Aerostar & Relampago vs Billy Boy & Kempo Dragon
3) Alex Koslov & Rocky Romero vs Alan Stone & Chris Stone
4) ?, Konnan, Teddy Hart vs Jack Evans, Marco Corleone, Mesias

This is the first show here since Konnan won control of the building. Interestingly, it’s being hyped as The Final Battle.

  1. On wwitv.com you can it. Just navigate the site to Mexico and scroll down to Ch. 44 or CadenaTres.

  2. ok thanks man. We’re trying to launch the Lucha Libre here in Italy, and Cadena Tres, along with the luchalibremexicana channel on YT and the Televisa Juares is a good help to promote the CMLL and AAA here.

  3. @Mr_Stylesclash: What part of Italy are you from? I have family in Regio Calabria, and my mother’s side is from Bari. I’ll never see anyone again b/c I will never get on a plane again, and this is before Air France 447.

Do you think Lucha Libre is something Italians will like?

  4. @Rob: Do you have a CURRENT picture of H.D. Sicodelico? If not do you know where I can find one because the last time I saw him he was anything but “on steroids.”

  5. That’s fantastic! Well, but sometimes i gotta come here as a tourist, you’d have a great time here! I live in the north of Italy, in a small city near Milan which name is Crema, not a good one but it’s quite calm hehe.

I think it would be, there are a lot of lucha fans here in Italy already, and in april, two of the most important italian newspapers, the Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera, talked about Lucha Libre very well, and their comments about were good, also better considering that the newspaperes here usually write shit about pro-wrestling, specially when they talk about the WWE. They wrote down that it’s better than the WWE (the most popular here in italy among the fans) and the Corriere della Sera also sent a journalist and a photographer at the Arena Mexico and Arena Coliseo shows to take some pics and write an article, but unfrotunatly they ranked Lucha as “fake violence to avoid the real one” (it’s normal considering that sometimes they publish bad articles) but they talked about well BTW, while Gazzetta della Sport talked very well about lucha!

Lucha Libre is having a good success in Spain, as well as in France, where lucha libre style matches are organized, the CMLL is televised with a one hour show, and a lot of places with Lucha Libre “theme” are been opened in the last few months. So i guess that if CMLL would be televised here, it would probably have a good success, not just in Italy, but in Europe, specially in Italy (but we need to wait for another “wrestling boom” first to propose the CMLL (not AAA)), France (a country that is knowing a HUGE “wrestling boom”) and Spain (due to the similar colture and language).

  6. @Jake: I was the one that said he was on roids. Nothing against the guy, I just thought he was on the juice, especially considering the fact that he threw Euforia & Nosferatu around like they were minis.(I’ve never seem that before :)) No offense to you or him , I was just saying what was off the top of my head, ( and like usually making an ass out of myself in the process. :)) No harm, no foul.

  7. Wow, the opener on AAA TV today was great! Everyone looked good but especially the new (is he still considered new?) Mascarita. First time I’ve seen him doing the spinning moves and looking good instead of it seeming really forced and/or him getting the 100% assistance of Mini Abismo. Really wish we could get a Billy Boy/Gato singles match. People should check this out.

  8. @Jake: I know, but i didn’t get why the WWE signed Sicodelico Jr. I hope he wouldn’t end up like some other wrestlers in the lowcarding because it will be sure that they will change everything of him, including gimmick and style.

  9. @Calabcd44: I didn’t take offense. I was just wondering because last time I saw him he was fat.

Sico if you by chance read that…sorry..:)

  10. Wow, just saw the photos from the latest EAW show. It’s like a who’s who of U.S. indy guys nobody has ever heard of. I noted there were more unknown indy guys on the card than fans in the stands.

  11. I wrote an article about EAW back in april. It’s an Indipendent with the major I, and i guess that this is their real first show, after the exihibition of some months ago.

    Rob link the pics :)

  12. http://www.boxylucha.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45284

Not sure if the pictures will come up if you aren’t registered.

JOHN SCOTT! How can EAW not be drawing a full house of 8,000 when JOHN SCOTT is on the show!

Even the bimbos came along for the ride!

Honestly… how can a promoter even justify paying these people? I’m not trying to bash any of them b/c maybe they have talent but they aren’t drawing a single extra fan nor will they draw any new fans to come to the next show. So you’re pretty much paying their way to come down for no reason at all when you could just throw a rock and hit a Mexican indy guy who would love to work the undercard for cheap.

Plus now someone has to do a JOHN SCOTT luchawiki bio which sucks.

  13. @Rob: This is my understanding of what they are trying to do… They want what they have to be different so they are bringing in talent that no one outside of said wrestler’s local territory has heard of. This is in the hope that someone will catch on.

Great in theory… But not great when you run once every two months.

  14. @Rob: So this person is just some indy guy I never heard of. For some reason Adam Pierce-Shirt comes to mind .(Remember him and, Brental Bright .:)

  15. @Rob: One is Derrik Nikirk(SP?) who used to be under contract with WWE. The other who I believe was called John Scott is GQ Gallo from IZW in Arizona.
