Volador and Mije > Diamante Azul, Fantasy unmasks Mercurio

CMLL (SUN) 10/14/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La Catederal]
1) Magnus, Sagrado, Soberano Jr. vs Camorra, Inquisidor, Ramstein
Sagrado & Magnus replaced Metalico & Tigre Blanco. Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Fuego, Mr. Cacao, Stuka Jr. DQ Arkángel de la Muerte, Hijo del Signo, Skándalo
Rudos were accompanied by Nitro (seemed to be walking okay) and new valet Isis. Straight falls for the tecnicos, Cacao surprising Arkangel in the first, Arkangel fouling Cacao in the second. Stuka challenged Arkangel to a match in Cacao’s promotion in November.
3) Goya Kong, León, Marcela b La Seductora, Mima Shimoda, Zeuxis
Tecnicos took 1/3 in a good women’s match.
4) Fantasy b Mercurio [mask]
Very good match. Seconds were Pequeno Olimpico & Astral. Fantasy was wearing his original mask design, while Mercurio’s torn mask revealed dyed hair. Mercurio won the first with a Destroyer, Fantasy the second with a spanish fly in slightly longer than usual opening falls. After a long and exciting third fall, Mercurio went for the Destroyer again, Fantasy escaped and used his own piledriver for the win. Mercurio is Abraham Arrieta Gonzalez, from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, 25 years of age, 5 years a wrestler.
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corleone, Máximo DQ Negro Casas, Rey Escorpión, Tama Tonga
Maximo replaced Rush. Straight falls for the tecnicos, rudos DQed for excessive violence in the second.
6) Volador Jr. b Diamante Azul
Mije accompanied Volador won the first fall with the backcracker. Diamante Azul trapped Volador in the escuedo in the second. A long third fall included a bit where Diamante Azul german suplexed Volador and Mije at the same time. Mije, who was often involved near the end, took the worst of it. Right after, Volador took a wild backdrop to the floor, and was barely able to catch Mije when he was tossed out. Finish saw Azul german suplex Volador again, Mije break up the pin with a splash again, ref admonished Mije, Volador teased a foul, Azul covered up, Volador pulled his mask off and covered him for the win.

IWRG officially announced the annual Castle of Terror show for 11/01, a Thursday night taping.

The IWRG show did not air on AYM Sports tonight. The same listing that correctly predicted IWRG being pre-empted list it as airing this Monday at 9pm Central instead (and every Monday after that, though you should never believe next week’s listings for that sort of channel.) If it airs, I am not really sure how I’m going to get it cut/converted/uploaded before the usual Tuesday morning post update. That post may move to later in the day or maybe get split up somehow, I’ll see.

rudos took 2/3.
3) Estrellita, Goya Kong, Marcela b Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit, Zeuxis
Tecnicas took 1/3, Estrellita submitting Princesa Blanca.
4) Tiger b Triton [lightning]
Tiger won in 6:45 via sit down powerbomb.
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b La Máscara, Sagrado, Stuka Jr.
Sagrado was subbed in to Fuego on Sunday. Peste Negra took 1/3. Sagrado pinned Negro Casas, but Niebla was the captain and defeated captain La Mascara for the win.
6) Mephisto b Titán
Mephsito took 1/3, sneaking in a foul while Titan was handwalking.

No full show results have surfaced, but Volador did beat Prince Devitt in Guadalajara last night. Cheating was involved.

IWRG FILL (TUE) 09/25/2012 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), The Gladiatores]
1) Mercenario & Príncipe Infernal b Caballero Kid & Rider

6) Alan Extreme, Centvrión, Comando Negro, Dinamic Black, Eterno, Golden Magic, Imposible, Saruman b Chicano, Dragón Celestial, Eita, Electro Boy, La Cobra, Serpiente de Oro, Sky Ángel, Violencia Jr. [Copa High Power]
FILL 1st Generation vs FILL 2nd Generation. Alan Extreme won for FILL Gen1. Eterno and Chicano feuded.

This was Eita’s last match in Mexico. Tercera Caida and Black Terry Jr. have Eita saying goodbye.

Hijo del Signo retained the Distrio Federal Middleweight title over Oro Azul in San Luis Potosi this Sunday.

Fantasy vs Mercurio for the masks has been signed for two Sundays from now, October 14th, in Arena Mexico. Announcing a non-main event apuesta match this far in advance is unusual for CMLL.

CMLL announced the En Busca de un Idolo tournament, the tournament won by Titan back in June, would start airing on TV this weekend. It started way back in April, so this old footage, but it’s footage which was only uploaded to CMLL’s website and not a single video was viewed by more than 3,000 people. Not many people would’ve seen it, though CMLL’s mentioned Titan as winner plenty of times. The original En Busca de un Idolo press conference mentioned there would be an accompanying show on Cadena3, and the teaser videos for the tournament teased outside the ring interviews. Neither actually happened, but perhaps it’ll be worked into the presentation of this tournament now.

CMLL.com has the wrong TV information on their show. They say Fox Sports, but it’s actually the secondary channel Fox Sports Plus (+) on Saturday at 10pm . If you watch Fox Sports, you’ll get a news show. Show is on 10 pm on Saturday and is only a half hour long, so either one match and some talking or two edited matches.

Prince Devitt talked to Fuego en el Ring about his trip to Mexico, which will wrap up after Friday’s title match with Dragon Rojo. Devitt says Dragon Rojo and Volador (who doesn’t feel bad about losing to in Guadalajara because he’s Volador) are two very different wrestlers with different strengths and weaknesses, and his job is to expose their weaknesses. Insert joke about Dragon Rojo weaknesses right here. Devitt says he hopes to challenge the winner of Ibushi/Low Ki for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight championship in November, December or whenever the promotion wants to do it.

Argenis & Argos discuss how they’re unlikely to actually get along in their Karonte Family vs Foreigner match on the LEGEND show this weekend. (And I’ve finally fixed the lineup; the Karonte team replaces the AAA guys taping the new show instead.) They team with Magnus & Dr. Karonte vs Zumbi (Brazil), Heddi Karoui (France), Dowki (Japan) and Maya Balam (who turns out to be from Guatemala!)

Voxxi has an interview with the director/producer of Tales of Masked Man, the lucha libre documentary airing on PBS stations this Friday.

Ricky Marvin says he’s coming back to Mexico in October (for MXW, not AAA), and it reads like he’s coming back full time in 2013. That would be surprising, he seems to have a pretty solid place in NOAH.

In an unsurprising development, the last announced international all star show in Colombia on 09/29 was canceled. The shows on 09/15 and 09/22 had previously been canceled due to “a new law.”

Rob has highlights of Dos Leyendas 2012

LuchaWorld has Alfredo on the Anniversary show, this week’s IWRG TVC Deportes show, and KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 09/30/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dragón Celestial & Serpiente de Oro vs Imposible & Infierno Kid Jr.
2) Centvrión, Dinamic Black, Saruman vs Alan Extreme, Black Terry, Temerario Infernal
3) Carta Brava Jr. (IWL), Oficial 911, Oficial Fierro vs Carta Brava Jr. (IWRG), Rayan, Spartan
4) Dr. Cerebro, el Ángel, Hijo de LA Park vs Comando Negro, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Oficial AK47
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Máscara Sagrada, Veneno vs Cien Caras Jr., Factor, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000

Second match looks a lot of fun. May have the Carta Bravas on the right side – the one with the original Oficials is listed as “Carta Brava” and the opposite is Carta Brava Jr.

CMLL (TUE) 10/02/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Virgo vs Magnum
2) Esfinge & Metatrón vs Bárbaro Cavernario & Ráfaga
3) Astral, Fantasy, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pierrothito
4) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Valiente vs Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Olímpico
5) Atlantis, Mistico, Titán vs Averno, Pólvora, Último Guerrero

Someone doesn’t belong in that main event: Averno! That’s his first time facing Mistico. They meet again in Tijuana at the end of the month, so someone’s finally decided to let the mostly highly pushed tecnico in the promotion work with the best rudo in promotion.

Polvora can only be there because they’re either setting up a match with Titan or setting something up with the Invasors.

Fantasy/Mercurio (& Volador/Devitt?), Factor wins in IWRG, AAA TV expo match online

CMLL (SUN) 09/23/2012 Arena Coliseo [CMLL on Terra]
1) Apocalipsis & Inquisidor b Camaleón & Freesbe
Rudos took 1/3, Apocalipsis pinning Camaleon for the deciding pin.
2) Cancerbero, Hooligan, Súper Comando b Höruz, Leono, Metálico
Super Comando replaced Nosferatu. Rudos took 2/3. Hooligan Crash on Leono and Cancerbero top rope inverted silla on Horuz.
3) Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pierrothito b Aereo, Fantasy, Shockercito
Rudos took 1/3. Pierrorthito beat Astral and Mercurio snuck in a foul on Fantasy again. More mask ripping. Mercurio and Fatansy agreed to their mask match, which seemed set for next week.
4) Fuego b Sangre Azteca [lightning]
Fuego won in 8:10 when Sangre Azteca did a top rope splash on to Fuego’s knees.
5) Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma, Super Porky b Ephesto, Morphosis, Negro Casas
Tecnicos took 1/3. Morphosis and Negro Casas had problems leading to the finish, but it didn’t seem to be going anywhere. Negro had an equally random face off with Porky after the match.
6) Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Prince Devitt DQ Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Volador Jr.
Tecnicos took 2/3, Volador blatantly fouling Devitt, then making belt motions.

Fantasy & Mercurio did microphone challenges/agreements, so I think they’re set for next week. Volador just made hand motions and didn’t get the microphone, so I assume they’re waiting until after Dragon Rojo’s match on Friday. 10/07 is the first Sunday of the week, the usual Fan Appreciation show in Arena Mexico, which would make sense for one or both matches.

The Terra feed, outside of one switching error late, was perfectly fine this week. It took couple months, but they got it figured out.

IWRG (SUN) 09/23/2012 Arena Naucalpan [AYM Sports]
2) Centvrión, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic b Alan Extreme, Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro
Alan Extreme replaced Eita. Tecnicos took 1/3 when Carta Brava IWL ran in and attacked Carta Brava IWRG (right in front of the ref, who did nothing.) This looked like a very good match.
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Trauma II
Oficials took 2/3, AK47 submitting Trauma II.
4) Cien Caras Jr., Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Súper Nova b Freyser, Hijo de LA Park, Veneno
Rudos took 2/3, Cien Caras sneaking a foul on Veneno.
5) Máscara Año 2000 Jr. & Oficial Factor b Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Trauma I [seeding]
Everyone attacked Pirata Morgan, but he made a comeback and pinned Trauma I with a front cracker. Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. beat Pirata with a northern lights suplex.
6) Trauma I b Hijo de Pirata Morgan [loser advances]
Trauma I submitted Pirata with a kneebar.
7) Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Oficial Factor [loser advances]
Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. won with a backcracker.
8) Oficial Factor b Hijo de Pirata Morgan [Rey de Reyes, IWRG JUNIORS]
Oficial Factor’s mask was on the line as well. Factor ripped up Pirata’s mask to shreds (his face was very visible.) Pirata went for revenge, but pulled Factor’s mask off. That should’ve been a DQ, but they stalled, then Pirata held Factor down and put his mask back on. After the ref took some blows, Factor pinned Morgan with a powerbomb and feet on the ropes.

This was the debut show on AYM Sports. While AYM listed the show starting at 6:30, it really started a few minutes before 7 and ran until around 9:45 (45 minutes over the listed time.) The opener took place while the announcers were talking. The crew is basically the same group which did the IWRG show on Teleformula (except for Aldo, who worked for that network; I assume the replacement guy works for this network.)  The show also included backstage interviews. The first one had a missed cue, but they were smoother the rest of the show.

I did live results for the first show. Do not expect that to be an every week thing. Though, given the history of IWRG shows not on TVC Deportes and shows on AULL in general.

I was watching as I was doing other things, but I thought the first two matches were good. They were working as if there was a brand new audience watching. I don’t think anyone really watched Tinieblas promotion, or the AULL shows, or the Revolution Free Style shows when they’ve been on this same network, but maybe live will be a difference.

Main event had only been announced as Rey de Reyes title, but both belts ended up on the line. No mention of who might be Factor’s dad.

AAA posted the Samurai del Sol, Fenix, Joe Lider vs Nicho, Daga, Dark Dragon match from the Lucha Libre expo. That would’ve only aired on the regional show, except at least our usual channel did not get the regional show this week. It’s nice AAA put it up.

AAA’s TV also mentioned they’ll be taping 10/12 in Tlahulilpan. That’ll be the first post Heroes Inmortales show.

LyC announced today their  show was moving to 3:30 pm on Sundays. I didn’t see until many hours until after it aired, and the usual 5-7 show was on anyway, but I guess that was the highlight/music video show.

La Copa’s weekend lucha column says the Mexico State lucha commission threatened on “social media” to stop the IWL show for endangering wrestlers and fans with their extreme matches. The Mexico State lucha commission is on Facebook? (This could’ve just been someone passing on word of what they might do. And it doesn’t appear they actually did anything, as always.)

Black Terry has photos from the XMW show this Saturday. There’s video from the matches on his YouTube channel.

Rob has Rey Cometa’s first interview on AAA TV, Black Warrior destroying Toscano with a tope, the first ever La Mistica, and highlights of 09/04/12 CMLL.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news updates and the 09/15/12 AAA recap.

Lucha Libre in Japan

09/22 NOAH: Ikuto Hidaka [O] & Daichi Hashimoto b Super Crazy [X] & Ricky Marvin [G+ Cup]
This result sent Hidaka/Hashimoto to the final, where they lost to Taiji Ishimori & Atsushi Kotoge. Ishimori & Kotoge will get a shot at Crazy & Marvin’s GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Titles on 10/08, which appears to be Crazy’s last big match before returning home.

09/23 REINA X WORLD: Leon b Silueta, taking falls 1/3 of a three fall match. Okumura was in the crowd for the show. Okumura has seemed to work as CMLL office representative with NJPW. I’d guess that was happening here.

No CMLL participation on NJPW’s PPV today, but Tama Tonga mentioned in interviews that he’d be coming to Mexico next month. Tama, one of King Haku’s sons, wrestles more like Jimmy Snuka than his father. He really should be in as a tecnico and would do well in that role.

03/06 CMLL Puebla Fan Appreciation Lineup (mini mask match)

CMLL’s announced the next fan appreciation show for Puebla:

CMLL (FRI) 03/06 Arena Puebla
1) Lady Apache & Sahori vs Mima Shimoda & Princesa Sujei
2) Hijo del Fantasma & La Mascara vs Dragon Rojo Jr. & Sangre Azteca
3) Marco Corleone, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
4) Mascarita Dorada vs Ultimo Dragoncito, Pequeno Ninja, Pequeno Olimpico, Fantasy, Electrico, Nino de Acero, Bracito de Oro, Sombrita, Sauron[cage, mask]

Okay, issue 1: it’s listed as a 14 mask match, with only 10 names. Pierrothito and Pequeno Warrior were in Puebla last night, so they’re surely working this show too. Tzuki fits too. Maybe a mini Dinamitia to round out the numbers? (Maybe Mini Lizmark, unretired?)

They’re obviously trying to build up the numbers (though – why is a 14 mini match any bigger draw than an 8 mini one, presuming you’re just dropping the lesser 6?), because issue #2 is “who is Sauron?” If I get a vote, I’m voting for hypnotic pterodactyl gimmick over evil wizard gimmick. I would actually know this if I watched more of Puebla and IWRG, because a wrestler by that name turned up on both places from August to December last year.

Third cage match in 3 months. Kinda hitting that button a little hard. Also, since this is Friday, that means Mistico and crew won’t be in Arena Mexico – perhaps a Ultimo Guerrero/Blue Panther vs Villanos match?

07/07 (2): DF Lineups

As per new standard operating procedure, only Tuesday and Friday ones. Bihari, you may want to be seated for the Arena Mexico lineup. Actually, everyone should, there’s a pretty fun surprise.

CMLL (TUE) 07/10 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II vs Caligula & Vaquero
2) Bam Bam, Bracito de Oro, Celestial vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeno Damian, Pequeno Halloween
3) Fabian el Gitano, Flash, Tony Rivera vs Arkangel, Hooligan, Nitro
4) La Mascara, Maximo, Volador Jr. vs Satanico, Texano Jr., Virus
5) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Universo 2000

I think that’s as high as Flash has been, but it’s Tuesday. Is Sangre Azteca’s story inspiring because, after all this time, he’s finally up in the main events or is depressing for it to take all this time for him to finally be up in the main events?

CMLL (FRI) 07/13 Arena Mexico
1) Sombra de Plata & Stuka Jr. vs Artillero & Polvora
2) Bam Bam vs Pequeno Olimpico, Bracito de Oro, Fantasy, Electrico, Pequeno Halloween, Pequeno Damian 666, Mr. Aguilita, Fire [ciber]
3) Alex Koslov, La Mascara, Mascara Purpura vs Damian 666, Euforia, Texano Jr.
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Sombra vs Atlantis, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Mistico & Negro Casas vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Ultimo Guerrero [CMLL TAG]

Who’s missing? No Ultimo Dragoncito, Tzuki, Pierrothito and Pequeno Violencia – that’s gotta be a tag match at a spot show somewhere. Mini cibernetico’s gotta make air.

No apparent follow up on the Panther vs Perros stuff. News page teases Villano V vs Blue Panther in a mask match. Eh, no.

With Atlantis in the building for the main event tag, perhaps we’ll know how he feels about Ultimo hooking up with his archrival and offering him membership in the Guerreros. I wonder how Bucanero feels about this! (I bet he doesn’t know yet.)
