Volador told the press that Mexico team would be more united than the World on 09/01.

The show was said to be fine, with nothing great but building things on. Probably that’s the way of things until 09/01.

Sugehit and Zeuxis both made a point of saying they want to get the women’s matches in the semimain events and main events after their performance in the 09/16 mask match.

No lineup for next week yet.

I have quick results for Super Astros from The Gladiatores’ Facebook, but probably more details over the weekend. The big story might be that the power went out in Arena Naucalpan right before the show, but it did come back later on.

TripleMania Notes

A few more things, mostly from the press conference and the press release about it.

Copa TripleMania is now Torneo TripleMania XXV, since they’ve got a belt and not a trophy or cup. They talked a lot about how the belt they’re giving out took 45 days to construct. They did not talk a lot about how the torneo is going to work or how a trios tournament ends up with one winner. It is a trios tournament, which is evident if you look for it but not specifically stated.

Toreno TripleMania teams

  • Team Parka (La Parka, Argenis, Bengala)
  • Team Relevlos Increidible (Australian Suicide, Faby Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata)
  • OGT (Averno, Chessman, Super Fly)
  • GFW (Bobby Lashley, Moose, Jeff Jarrett)
  • Guapos (Scorpio Jr., Zumbido, Decnnis)
  • Vipers (Psicosis, Maniaco, Histeria)
  • Perro del Mal (Joe Lider, Mr. Aguila, Halloween)
  • Mexican Powers (Crazy Boy, Nino Hamburguesa, Lanzelot)
  • ex-AAA (Pirata Morgan, Villano IV, Heavy Metal)
  • Leyendas (Intocable, Blue Demon Jr., TBA)

The last two teams may not be right; by the way the field’s been listed, it should be Pirata Morgan & Heavy Metal with the TBA and Metal on the other team, but the press reports say Demon’s got the unannounced partner.

The other thing is the 14 names announced for La Llave a La Gloria are not the winners, but finalists. The actual winner(s) will be announced at TripleMania (maybe after a game of duck duck goose??), which explains why there’s so many people left.

There’s nothing said about the iPPV. Dorian did say they’ve sold 90% of tickets, and those two items are probably related. They’re not going to announce any deal that would allow people to see the show cheaper than the tickets or free on Twitch until there are no tickets are to be sold or until it’s just going to be the people who walk up to buy it anyway. If AAA sells out in the next few days, then maybe we’ll get an announcement early, but that’s unlikely. Plan on nothing being announced for TripleMania’s internet plans until Friday, the day before the show, but plan on it actually happening. There’s no sense there’s English commentary this time around and they really might as well not spend the money if it’s going to be on the level of Striker the last two years.

(At worst, if they don’t stream at the last second, the show will obviously be pirated and on YouTube as soon as it airs on TV Sunday night, so you may just have a day or two delay.)

Psycho Clown talks about the mask match. He notes the Match of the Decade billing puts a lot of pressure on them.

Other Things

The Crash is debuting in Nuevo Laredo on 10/09.

Rey Mysterio’s promo for the title match on Lucha Underground. Lucha Underground is starting in India soon on DSport, probably with Season 1. DSport appears to be a new (and probably small) station.

Kcidis draws Gran Guerrero vs Niebla Roja and brother’s masks.

There will be another Leyendas Inmortales show on 09/17 in Guadalajara.

On Edge & Christian’s podcast, Bryan Danielson revealed he hated Sam Adonis – because Adonis got to beat Blue Panther for his hair, the match Danielson wanted.

The Tampico Disturbio promotes his upcoming 12th Anniversary show.

Cordoba luchador Ringo Acosta says he’s going to retire soon.

The latest Fuego en el Ring has Aeroboy as a guest.

CMLL in ROH

08/18 London: (via Hashtag Wrestling)
Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian beat Ultimo Guerrero & Rey Bucnaero
Dalton Castle & The Boys b Jushin Liger, Mistico, Delirious for the ROH Trios Titles
KUSHIDA b Titan for the ROH TV Title

Kushida/Titan was said to be the match of the night.

08/19 is ongoing as a type this, with Ultimo Guerrero & Rey Bucanero beating Mistico & Titan early on the show. Someone from CMLL has to be getting a win on Sunday to even things out; probably UG & Rey Bucanero over the Bricoes the way they’re being used.

05/23: Coliseo, La Parka Jr., LdP change, NWA tournament, AULL anniversary show, Guadalajara, Monterrey

CMLL (TUE) 05/22 Arena Coliseo [ova]
1) Mini Olimpico & Ultimo Dragoncito b Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween
2) Sensei, Stuka Jr., Trueno b Artillero, Jeque, Super Comando
3) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico, Tony Rivera b Dr. X, Loco Max, Nitro
4) Ephesto, Okumura, Sangre Azteca b Fabian el Gitano, Felino, Mictlan
5) Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000 DQ Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr.

Main event was all pushing Ultimo Guerrero vs Volador Jr., with Ultimo ripping Volador’s mask and faking a foul for victory. In the segunda, Starman was replaced by Stuka, and Jeque filled in for Ramstein, so the Jeque/Stuka feud was back for at least one night.

In it’s recap of AAA’s 05/20 TV Taping, Ovaciones states La Parka Jr.’s rehab is not going well, he’s not close to being cleared, and will be out longer than expected.

This week’s Leyenda de Plata lineup has changed. As expected, Mistico is out of the tournament itself, moved to the main event in Marco Corelone’s spot (so they can begin teasing Aguila/Mistico for 06/01.) Sagrado takes his place, and since we’re not actually rebooking anything after lineup changes, he’s the heavy favorite to win. Texano replaced La Mascara, who’s out hurt.

Sicodelico Jr. will be part of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. (Oddly, there’s a video promo with Nicho challenging for the belt, but not Sicodelcio. Plans change.) It’s a 16 man tournament, and he’s got to face someone named “Roughneck Ryan”, who’s theoretically one of the top 16 contenders in all the world despite being named “Roughneck Ryan”. Also, I’m not sure why two guys from the Texas area are having a first round match in Tennessee, but them there’s the breaks. If Sicodelico Jr. moves on, and gosh I hope he doesn’t lose to Roughneck Ryan, he’ll probably face Claudio Castagnoli and I would totally endorse that match happening. If Sicodelico Jr. wins the NWA Title, I think we’ll have to change the “Did the Gran Alternativa win lead him onto bigger things?” bit on the wiki to a Yes.

The word on the street – people all over the streets are talking about the NWA title tournament, naturally – is Byran Danielson will win end up winning the tournament. (Though now that even I know, it’ll be switched.) In a recent interview with Figure Four, Danielson talked a bit about wanting to do a stretch of wrestling in Mexico to learn how to wrestle lucha – he’s worked one Toryumon Mexico show, but that’s about it. If Bryan Danielson wins the NWA Title, CMLL absolutely must bring him in, because that’d be the awesomest thing possible ever. I’d be cool too if it was Claudio or Sicodelico and I’d understand if Danielson’s NOAH tieup means he’s got to AAA (because that’d could brilliantly insane), but just the concept of Danielson with the NWA Heavyweight Belt taking on, say, Mistico would be so fun, and probably draw. I think the NWA name actually might mean more in Mexico than it does in the US, because the Light Heavyweight title has fared quite a bit better than Heavyweight one over the last 18 years.

Medio Tiempo has a long interview/biography of Cibernetico on their site. Being an antihero and all, he doesn’t understand how parents would allow their children to be fans of his, though he gets why kids might be fans anyway.

(Notimex) A new lucha libre gym was opened in the Jardin Balbuena section of Mexico City.

Either this week’s GdR review or the opener y’all want to hear about will be posted later tonight – that’s the plan, anyway.
