07/06: WWE, Gudalajara, Tampico, Xalapa

There’s CMLL and WWE shows tonight in Mexico City, and AAA tapes it’s last show before TripleMania in Puebla.

ESTO recaps the whole Wagner/Mistico feud (one week.) Notimex doesn’t have much to say either.

Ovaciones and ESTO says Toscano, Heavy Metal, Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Sagrado, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Terrible, and Rey Bucanero taped an episode of El Rival Mas Debil (The Weakest Link) for TV Azteca. Ovaciones goes onto a whole digression about Pierroth no-showing (maybe that’s why MY2K Jr. is on there) claiming to be in a car accident but was later seen around Arena Mexico and how these no-shows reflect bad on CMLL (which is true, but I’d start with complaining about the wrestling events they miss – see GDL results – before the TV cameos.)

The real story is – they still have The Weakest Link in Mexico? That seems so long ago. I think I saw a rerun of a show the other where someone was making a (horrible) reference to it and it seemed so dated, and it’s still on it Mexico, huh. In England and France too – I just remember it seemingly lasting six weeks in the US before it wore out it’s charm (yet still existed.) I’d totally watch this episode, of course, and I wonder if it’ll make it to Azteca America. I bet Panther won.

WWE (WED) 07/04 Plaza Monumental Tijuana Results [El Sol de Tijuana]
1) Super Crazy b Daivari
2) Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch b Paul London & Brian Kendrick [WWE TAG]
3) Mickie James b Melina
4) William Regal b Val Venis
5) Jeff Hardy b Snitsky
6) Carlito b Santino Marella
7) Rey Misterio Jr., Bobby Lashley, John Cena b Booker T, Randy Orton, Umaga

Building was said to be 3/4ths full. Recap says Regal/Venis bored the crowd.

Ovaciones and ESTO have different lineups for tonight’s DF WWE show. It’s gone thru many revisions.

Lots of GDL stuff…

CMLL (SUN) 07/01 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Casanova b Fraile de la Muerte
2) Depredador & Guero Loco b Azazel & Mach-1
3) Artillero, Jeque, Super Comando b Metal Blanco, Metalik, Metatron
4) Malefico, Mascara Magica, Toxico b Fabian el Gitano, Gallo, Mascara Purpura
5) Averno, Efesto, Mephisto b Blue Panther, Sagrado, Negro Casas

Shocker no showed the main event, and they must’ve known ahead of time because they bumped people around to accommodate. Sagrado moved up one, Mascara Purpura moved up one, Metatron got on the card. Jeque Watch: he pinned Metalik clean. Mascara Magica fouled Fabian el Gitano – that’s a feud that needs to stay in GDL.

CMLL (TUE) 07/03 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Milenio b Virgo
2) Estrella de Jalisco b Danger (Guadalajara)
3) Guerrero Samuray b Rey Trueno
4) Leon Blanco b Asesino Negro
5) Mach 1 b Jeque
6) Angel Blanco Jr., Artillero, Super Comando b Fabian el Gitano, Magnum, Mascara Purpura
7) Olimpico & Ultimo Guerrero b Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone

Jeque Watch: he lost clean. Look at Artillero and Super Comando with an honest to god semifinal win. Ultimo fouled Marco to win, Marco challenged him to a singles match next week, and this feud is making it around the horn quite a bit. I guess they’re going to make a luchador out of Corelone or UG will die trying.

CMLL (TUE) 07/10 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Estrella de Jalisco vs Destroyer
2) Evola vs Guero Loco
3) Nuba Roja vs Exterminador
4) Metalik vs Infierno
5) El Gallo & Tigre Blanco vs Malefico & Mascara Magica
6) Blue Panther & Sagrado vs Hijo de Lizmark & Terrible
7) Marco Corelone vs Ultimo Guerrero

3) La Sombra, Rey Hechizero, Tigre Universiatio vs Gitano, Potro Jr., Silver Star

4) Extreme Tiger vs Oriental, Histeria [bull terrier]
5) Pirata Morgan & Sangre Chicana vs Antifaz & Hator

CMLL (WED) 07/04 Auditorio Municpal Tampico [Rocinante TYT CVF @ box y lucha
1) Mensajero del Muerte & Silver Fox b Baby Lover & Lumino
2) Bam Bam & Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween
3) Brazo de Platino, Mascara Purpura, Valiente b Artillero, Coco Blanco, Súper Comando
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Máximo b Loco Max, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. b LA Park, Atlantis

Main event was elimination style. Wagner pinned Atlantis, ended up getting his mask yanked by Atlantis and fouled by Park, but the ref wouldn’t count the pin. Park tried a figure four, Wagner small packaged him for the win. I wonder who booked this show.

Tercera was supposed to be a tag match with the youngsters, but Brazo and Coco got added and it turned into a comedy match. I’d be so annoyed if that happened. Mini Damian got Bam Bam with the Valagueza, but Dragoncito rallied back to beat both Mini FdT guys for the win – maybe that’s the match we’re building too?

CMLL (THU) 07/05 Deportivo Colon, Xalapa, Veracruz [rodrigo_park @ box y lucha]
1) Soldado Anomio & Subzero b Guepardo & Nocturno
2) Gabriel o Gabriela, Samuray, Turbo b ?, Perro Mocho Jr., Rey Garifo Jr.
3) Marcela b Amapola [MEX WOMEN]
4) Heavy Metal, Rey Bucanero, Vampiro b Atlantis, Olimpico, Pierroth
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. b Ultimo Guerrero

ESTO also has an article about Santo in Spain. Also, Hijo de Santo is interviewed with Rumbo en Internet. If this is not a reprint of an interview I’ve already linked to, it’s close enough.

I have no idea who Niurka is, but apparently she’s a Mexican TV star who was special guest referee for Tuesday’s Arena Coliseo Monterrey show. It sounds like she acted like a complete goofball during the match, fell off the second rope when posing, and lost a (fake) nail when getting mobbed for autographs after the match. This required a hospital stay. Somehow, there are dozens are stories about this, including Rossy Moreno challenging her to a match. I presume it’s a Paris Hilton situation.

06/18: Mexico, Monterrey, Campeche

CMLL (SUN) 06/17 Arena Mexico [superluchas, ovaciones]
1) Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween b Bracito de Oro & Tzuki
2) Lady Apache, Marcela, Sahori b La Seductora, Medussa, Rosa Negra
3) La Mascara, Mictlan, Volador Jr. b Euforia, Nosferatu, Satanico
4) Amapola b Diana La Cazadora [hair]
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, Shocker b Damian 666, Halloween, Terrible
6) Mistico & Negro Casas b Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

In the main event, Negro Casas used the La Mistica and Mistico won with the casita. Superluchas has it at 27 minutes. Hair match went about 14. Diana’s wants a rematch in Monterrey. Lady Apache & Marcela replaced India Sioux & Dark Angel in the women’s trio.

Ovaciones says around 5,000 attendance, citing rain and Mexico’s soccer team playing a Gold Cup game. Amapola vs Diana was an interesting feud to me, but I didn’t expect it to be a draw any more than Leono/Mogur was a draw. Maybe this is one time blip, but it comes off to me as if you can’t just throw Mistico out there in what everyone knows will be a great match (and by all accounts, it was) and expect to pop a big house, especially when he’s been in main events and big matches plenty in that building lately. If this was a show people were really into, they probably can skip a game versus Costa Rica, but it was a feud with a complete lack of recent activity (and a sub feud only built up on the B-Show, with a build that only makes sense after the fact.)

FWIW, next Mexico Gold Cup game is on Thursday, and the final (likely between US and Mexico – I’m thinking Guadeloupe’s run of a lifetime is about over) is next Sunday.

Add a July 28th taping in Tlaxaca to the upcoming AAA show list. No lineup is announced.

AAA (SUN) 06/17 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Aguila Extrema & Arquero b Invasor & Mercurio
2) Arquero & Karis b Ramses & Rey Infernal
3) Estrellita b Tiffany, Sexi Star
4) Aventurero, Hator, Monje Negro Jr., Zumbido b El Brazo, Orus, Pimpinela, the Mummy
5) Abismo Negro, Antifaz, Histeria b Brazo de Plata, Charly Manson, Elegido

CMLL (SAT) 06/16 Ciudad del Carmen Campeche [El Gris @ el maritente]
1) ? & Angel Celestial DQ Demonio Rojo & Mecanico
2) Destello & Relampago b Gym Kata & Lasser Man
3) Amapola & Rebelde b Marcela & Sahori
4) Mascara Sagrada b Angel de la Muerte [hair]
5) Mascara Purpura, Negro Casas, Rayo de Jalisco DCO Atlantis, Mascara Ano 2000, Veneno

Magazines
Lucha 2000 #373 has Espectro Jr. signing the mask match challenge with Blue Demon Jr. in blood.
Super Luchas #217 has the death of Vince McMahon. (I will resist the urge to mock Berwyn.)
Super Luchas Grafico #23 has Mistico and Dave Meltzer.

Lizmark, Huracan Ramires Jr., La Parkita were in Michoacan, talking about lucha libre as their anti-drug.

CMLL (TUE) 06/19 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Estrella de Jalisco vs Fraile de la Muerte
2) Carlo Roggi vs Rey Trueno
3) Metatron vs Depredador
4) Flash vs Malefico
5) Oro II vs Jeque
6) Fabian el Gitano & Hijo del Faraon vs Ephesto & Texano Jr.
7) Rey Bucanero & Shocker vs Atlantis & Olimpico

CMLL (FRI) 06/21 Auditoio Municipal Torreon [El Siglo de Torreon]
1) Chamuco Trevino, Espanto V, Sexy Francis vs Emperador Azteca, Hijo del Soberano, Sexy Piscis
2) Princesa Blanca & Sahori vs La Nazi & Medusa
3) Sangre Azteca & Silver King vs Alex Koslov & Felino

This is a free show. They’re doing a match between radio show personalities (I’ve skipped it here), so I’m guessing the station is subsudizing the show.

VIP NBLLM (SAT) 06/23 Roots Magic Club [Tiger Marino]
1) Angel de los Ninos, Polaris, Ultrasonic vs Flechador, Halcon Guerrero, Urco
2) Leon Guerrero, Terry 2000, Turbo vs Black Heart, La Furia, La Mosca
3) Caramelo, Nino X, Super Nino vs Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Suicida
4) Villano III vs Solar, Black Terry, Super Muneco, Coco Rojo
5) Albarone, Villano IV, Villano V vs Axel, Ultimo Dragon, VIP Negro

06/17.2: Sunday Mexico top match results, Accion, FSE

Alexis says champs retained tag titles and Diana lost her hair. I thought Alexis was perhaps just pulling one over on me, but then it’d be a vast conspiracy with superluchas as well.

Amapola kept her hair. I can’t believe it. That’s awesome.

Accion:

CMLL: Main event trios from Arena Mexico. Mistico looked fine in the highlights. We don’t see the Perros interfering, just walking to ringside – ah, I guess Lizmark slipped in to punch, though you can’t see him right away.

AAA: Scorpio Jr., Zumbido, Alan Stone vs Elegido, Oriental, Alebrije, which would’ve been the semimain from the 06/08 taping. Spots, spots, and Guapito low blowing Alebrije with a headbutt to get the Guapos the win. Tecnicos all had purple outfits, which probably desn’t actually mean anything but I thought I’d point out anyway.

CMLL FSE #45 has
06/10: Arkangel de la Muerte Okumura, Loco Max, Nitro b Fabián el Gitano, Metálico, Tony Rivera
06/10: Místico, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero b Damián 666, Halloween, Misterioso II

06/18: Mexico notes, links

Ovaciones previews today’s Arena Mexico show, with interviews from the hair match participants, Amapola and…Dark Angel. No, no change in the match, Diana couldn’t make the press conference so Dark Angel was talking on her behalf. Amapola of course took this to mean that Diana was scared, and that Dark Angel would be next to lose.

Ovaciones also repeats a statement from CMLL – do not believe a man who claims to be Mistico II, CMLL has no Mistico II. (That’s Sombra.)

CMLL (SUN) 06/17 Arena Mexico
1) Bracito de Oro & Tzuki vs Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween
2) Dark Angel, India Sioux, Sahori vs La Seductora, Medussa, Rosa Negra
3) La Mascara, Mictlan, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satanico
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, Shocker vs Damian 666, Halloween, Terrible
5) Mistico & Negro Casas vs Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

I’m thinking Diana and champions retain, only because there’s been no angle leading up to it. I feel less sure about the title match than I do the hair match, even with the weird build in the hair match (which I’ll go over next.)

There’s also an AAA TV taping in Toluca.

Amapola vs Diana in a hair match on 06/11

I decided to spin this digression off to it’s own post. Henrik and Robert can thank me later.

CMLL (SUN) 06/10 Arena Coliseo [ova]
3) Dark Angel, Diana La Cazdora, Luna Magica DQ Amapola, Poly Star, Princesa Sujei

Tecnicas won the first fall, beat Amapola in the second fall, and Amapola came back in for the DQ. Last week, Diana beat Amapola with (a horrible ‘rana and) her hand grabbing the bottom rope. Somehow, this leads to a hair match. I have a small glimmer of hope Amapola might pull this one out, just because she has yet to actually win a match in this feud (even when she got a pinfall last week in the first fall, it was on Apache, not Diana), but it’s just a glimmer.

Check out how things have been going for the rudas lately

04/17: Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda b Luna Magica, Marcela, Sahori – Tuesday show, didn’t air!
04/22: Diana La Cazdora, Marcela, Sahori b Amapola, Diosa Maya, Princesa Sujei
04/27: Marcela & Princesa Sujei win qualifying cibernetico
05/04: Marcela b Princesa Sujei [MEX WOMEN]
05/06: Dark Angel, India Sioux, Sahori b Hiroka, Princesa Sujei, Rosa Negra
05/13: Lady Apache, Luna Magica, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
05/18: Dark Angel, Diana La Cazdora, Marcela b Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
05/27: Amapola, Medussa, Rosa Negra b Diana La Cazdora, Luna Magica, Marcela – did not air?
06/03: Dark Angel, Diana La Cazdora, Lady Apache b Amapola, Medussa, Princesa Sujei
06/10: Dark Angel, Diana La Cazdora, Luna Magica DQ Amapola, Poly Star, Princesa Sujei

Rudas are 2-7-1 in the last 10, and no wins on TV since mid April. The May 27th match must’ve set up the Amapola/Diana feud, but never having actually seen Amapola win the match (surely via grabbing the ropes), it’s been awful one sided.

Anyway, Diana/Amapola for their hair on Sunday at Arena Mexico hasn’t yet been officially announced on CMLL’s site, but Ovaciones reports it and Alexis mentioned on Box Y Lucha last night, so it’s on. I hope Amapola doesn’t run to the back before she lets anyone see her bald head because that might kinda be why we’re doing this.

Update: CMLL.com’s posted an update confirming.

04/27: AAA TV, Mexico Preview, Puebla, Chicago

cmll

AAA’s got a taping today. Perhaps you’ve forgotten the lineup – it was only announced four weeks ago. The big main event is a six way cage match: Cibernetico, Chessman, El Elegido, El Mesias, Abismo Negro, and whoever replaces La Parka Jr. Semimain is a incredible atomico.

ESTO
Notimex
Mundo de Hoy.

The big show this week is Sunday – I expect that to sell out, and I would guess around 8 or 9,000 here. Main: mini monkey madness. The Perro/Mistico face off in the semimain is getting more attention. No one seems to care about the women’s cibernetico. I guess I will! (If you’re Henrik, or would like to be, skip down to the **************.)

Thanks for coming
Diosa Maya
Seductora
Atenea

Gotta figure this whole match airs somewhere, because what other people is bringing in random people except to put them on TV? I don’t quite understand why this is a 14 person match, but maybe someone here will surprise us and earn a more regular spot. (The bigger achievement is a 12 fall women’s match with no Dark Angel not testing the fans patience.) They’ll be the first three out, at any rate.

Regulars with little chance
Sahori
Medussa
Luna Magica
Rosa Negra
Princesa Blanca
Diana la Cazadora

If Sahori or Luna Magica advance and we get them in singles matches, I may lose my mind. Blanca’s probably not much better, but we don’t see her much. Medussa’s a non-factor, but Rosa Negra has looked good the last couple times I’ve seen her, and I wouldn’t mind her advancing past her normal position here. She’s not going to, but oh well. Diana need work in the ring, but she’s got enough personality and looks that I’m sure they’d do more with her if they had a chance. Her schedule makes her unlikely

Remember, we’re advancing two people from here to a match next week. I’m presuming it’ll be ruda vs tecnica…

Rudas with a real chance
3) La Nazi
2) Princesa Sujei
1) Amapola

The Pierroth influence seems to be on a down ebb the last six months. I don’t know if he’s lost influence, or if they’re just taking a break before ramping him back up again. As long as he’s around and La Nazi is connected with him, I think there’s a chance she could win the title. It’s the least chance of the final five, but there’s an obvious big/small story you can do for the final, and they’ve done it well in trios.

All I ever seem to say about Princesa Sujei is “she seemed much better in AAA”, but she’s been okay in CMLL. A Sujei title reign doesn’t particularly interest me – her big rival is Dark Angel and obviously that won’t work – but she’d be a fine enough opponent to put over one of the tecnicas.

Amapola is the best Mexican ruda female worker of the moment and would be a really fun champion. The problem is, the last time Amapola had a big Arena Mexico singles match, she kinda walked out of the building without letting anyone see much of the her freshly unmasked face, and CMLL was very unhappy. I don’t know if CMLL is over that; I’ll be remained ever convinced she was passed over for the CMLL title for that reason, and it’s not like CMLL gets over things very quickly. I think Amapola’s a strong bet for moving on, because it’ll be the best match, but I don’t know from there.

Tecnicas with a real chance
2) India Sioux
1) Marcela

That’s it. That’s the list.

India’s not ready for a big spot like this, unless they’ve been secretly working on the title match or something. It’s way too soon to give her a title – she’s an appealing tecnica, and I think India challenging for a title against a respected but evil ruda is one of the few things in this division that might be a draw, and I wouldn’t give it up this quick. You could do worse than having India in the title match; unless one of the unknowns shows up big, this is a weak tecnica side.

Is Marcela the best Mexican tecnica worker of the moment? Yea, I think so. She’s quality, but she’s missing a spark that makes you realy want to see her. Marcela seems like a great secondary tecnica, a fine worker who could be the top women’s sidekick or put over the feared ruda to build her up for another challenger. I don’t think she’s a top star, and it’s really impossible for her to be when Dark Angel and Lady Apache are ahead of her.

The Mexican Women’s Belt, it really means nothing at the moment. It was part of Lady Apache’s wardrobe, not a meaningful championship. Having Amapola face Marecla, the best possible match from this lineup, would be a good first step in making something of it, but the most important part is what they do with the belt after the title match. They’re investing too much time to just forget about it in a couple weeks.

**************

Ovaciones and AAA’s site talk about La Parka Jr., El Brazo and Chucky visiting a children’s hospital. I say this everytime, but I totally wouldn’t be sending CHUCKY to a children’s hospital. Still, it’s a nice gesture. A lot of lucha types seem to take time to visit with kids during this weekend every year.

CMLL (FRI) 03/30 Arena Puebla
1) Alex Koslov, Lizmark Jr., Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000
2) Rey Bucanero vs Hector Garza [CMLL LH]

VIP has rescheduled their next show for 05/12. Perros del Mal are not on the lineup. They’re running a small fair show on Sunday for Kid’s Day as well.

Perro Aguayo Jr. wants people to keep voting for him, so he stays on his reality show. Fair enough.

the Yahoo Picture Wire has a bunch of shots from a recent Coliseo Guadalajara show.

Blue Demon Jr. will be in Chicago tomorrow to sign autographs and promote his energy drink. I’m surprised that no one local is trying to split the cost and run a show with him….

OH! Someone is!

Scheduled: Blue Demon Jr., Mascara Sagrada, Casandro, La Parkita, Tzuki, Espectritio, Pequeno Violencia, Aguila del America, Lancer 2000, Guerrerito del Futuro, SWAT Kat, Lupillo el Terrible, Aguila Tapatia Jr., Halcon Galactico, Mia Martinez, Great Cheyene.

Friday: (150 W Illinois Ave., Aurora, IL); doors open 6, bell at 6:30
Saturday: (351 Oakwood Ave., Waukegan, IL); doors open 6, bell at 7
Tickets are $10 for kids, $25 for general, $30 for ringside (329 Mexican pesos)

After my freakout/meltdown with the last show I tried to go to, I’ve kinda distanced myself from such things for a bit. This one is 15 mintes from my house, so even though I’ve seen all the names on this list live at this point, I sorta have to go, right? Maybe.

(HoyInternet) There’s a lucha show in LA on Sunday, including Los Chivos and Magno.

Not to say Mistico’s a star, El Universal has a story about his face being partially exposed in a Black Warrior mask, plus a photo of the Incident. That’s all the article is. The people at El Universal don’t watch the TV show much, I’m thinking.

IWRG’s site is still down.
