08/05: Mistico out 6 weeks, Atlantis in hospital

Box Y Luchas #2830 says Mistico will be out for six weeks. Currently, he’s booked all over the place for next week, so there are going to be some issues. This’ll put Mistico out till the Anniversary show. I wonder if he would’ve taken time off (or been able to take time off) if Perro wasn’t back.

Superluchas reports Atlantis was taken to the hospital tonight, after getting kicked in the head by Dr. Wagner Jr. in their trios match at Arena Coliseo tonight. No update on his status. (Update: Over on ByL, Alexis says it was a Toscano kick.)

Accion’s CMLL clips were of the Arena Mexico main event. Lots of crowd shots of the big turnout. Mistico was limping in all the clips we saw him, but it seemed like a Hector Garza clip caused it. They show the finish – or at least lots of Perros swarming the ring – out of order, to go back and show more Perro/Mistico stuff. Mistico limp seems to get worse, and they stretcher him out at the end.

The AAA clips were of Chessman, Cibernetico, Zorro vs X-Pac, Head Hunter I, and Sabu from Leon. Early highlights of Cibernetico are actually all of people running into his outstreched arm and doing all the work for him on the bumps. Sabu tries to put Zorro thru a table, but the table won’t break. AAA seems to have an issue with that. With Copetes down, we see Mesias foul Ciber and Kenzo put Killings on top. If you notice that Killings wasn’t listed up there, you’re one step ahead.

I saw the Azteca DeporTV clips from Tuesday Coliseo as well, but nothing really noteworthy on them. I got to see as much of Electrico as I did in that cibernetico, that’s for sure.

07/29: Accion, Naucalpan, FSE

Accion

CMLL: Mistico vs Wagner, of course. Even in clips, there’s lots of shots of the soap opera costars. Mostly Wagner highlights, with Mistico getting in his stage dive. They skip the setup to the Ultimo run-in and the Mistico pin. Heroic job by Baby Richard for not noticing Ultimo climbing the ropes as he came back in to count the pin.

AAA: TripleMania main event, though it’s listed as Kenzo/Mesias vs Ciberentico/Chessman. We do get to see Charly and X-Pac, so who knows what that’s about. Chessman’s suicide attempt gets the skeletal replay, and it’s listed as 6m (19.6 feet) dive. The table not breaking sure didn’t help anything. Mesias’s accidental fire spot is well done, as those things go, and I was all set to mock it.

I missed DeporTV America today, but the video should be up tomorrow.

IWRG (THU) 07/26 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas, IWRG]
1) Halcon Salvaje b Shuriken
2) Yamato b Cerebro Negro, Nitro, Alex Koslov, Hijo de Mascara Ano 2000, Black Terry, Villano III, Pierroth, Pierroth JR., Electroshock, Loco Max, Kai, AK47, Hijo del Solitario, HIjo de Anibal, Hijo del Diablo, Captian Muerte, Fantasma de la Opera, Kid Tiger, Trueno, Marco Rivera, Freelance, Fierro, 911, Cyborg, Xibalba, Sasaki, Ave Fenix, Star Boy, Misterio Verde [Rey del Ring]

That’s in reverse order of elimination (Yamato is the winner, Cerebro Negro was second to last, etc.) Match went 1h40m and airs on a special IWRG/TVC broadcast, August 13th.

(box y lucha foro) On Tercera Caida, Konnan said he plans to be back in two months. He floated bringing in ROH guys to AAA. I expect US indy guys to show up in AAA in the next couple months, and almost would be disappointed if they don’t. At the same time, I don’t expect them to be specifically ROH guys – since they won’t have much name recognition in Mexico, you find better bargains in cost and availability elsewhere, and ROH has been down on lucha forever – like about since Konnan’s match there, right? Not that I’m trying to make a connection, that’s just the last time I can think of it happening, maybe there was some Super Crazy stuff after.

THAT was a pointless digression.

CMLL on FSE #48 had
07/01 Coliseo: Euforia, Nosferatu, Satanico b Felino, La Mascara, Valiente
07/01 Coliseo: Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero b Toscano, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000

Did I score a perfect on my lineup project this week? Yay for me. (The FSE lag helps.)

07/01: notes, Accion

No FSE show today, as previously noted. Ovaciones was Sunday’s card.

Box Y Lucha has Sunday’s Arena Coliseo’s lineup…

ALEX KOSLOV, VOLADOR Y MARCO CORLEONE VS. ÚLTIMO GUERRERO, SANGRE AZTECA Y MÁSCARA 2000
SAGRADO, LEONO Y TONY RIVERA VS. ECLIPSE, MISTERIOSO Y OKUMURA
ÚLTIMO DRAGONCITO, PEQUEÑO OLÍMPICO Y BAM BAM VS. PEQUEÑO HALLOWEEN, PEQUEÑO DAMIÁN 666 Y MR. AGUILITA
RAYO TAPATÍO I Y RAYO TAPATÍO II VS. MESSALA Y CALÍGULA
LÁTIGO Y MALIGNO VS. MR. CREÍBLE Y SANSON

The Mr. Creible match is either one of the trainee dark matches which we never actually hear about, or just four random names as place filler so it looks like five matches. CMLL will announce Dos Jr. vs Universo for the CMLL Heavy title on Monday, I figure.

CMLL: Blue Panther vs Lizmark Jr. We star off with this horrible Lizmakr Jr. legdrop, and it gets only okay from there. Lizmark ripped, but didn’t yank off Panther’s mask during the match. Panther going for revenge ripping started the run ins. It’s too bad Blue Panther has no friends to save him, because he’s beat all the way to the back.

AAA: La Parka Jr., Latin Lover, Zorro vs Mesias, Kenzo, Ozz – all the tecnicos getting beat until Cibernetico walks out, does nothing, and that starts the comeback. Zorro gets in his move on Ozz, Mesias spears Zorro, Cibernetico distracts Mesias, Latin superkicks Mesias and puts him in a casita for the win.

06/24: notes

We’ll go over things in full tomorrow, but a few quick bits

Mistico retained the NWA Middleweight Title over Averno in Merida
– Lita was announced as working TripleMania on this week’s AAA TV in Mexico
– Box Y Lucha’s cover story is “Is Black Warrior leaving CMLL?” and one of the inset stories is “is Intocable is leaving AAA?” Anyone get a copy? Might be worth reading.

Accion

CMLL: Main event trios from Arena Mexico, including Corleone hitting his dive, and Monito knocking down Garza with a dive. Dives from Panther, Shocker, and Corelone (looking stiff on a off the ramp clotheslines.) Babe Richard was outside with Garza when Lizmark pulled Panther’s mask, and the other ref was looking at the floor for whatever reason.

AAA: La Parka Jr., Cibernetico, Chessman vs Mesias, Kenzo, Ozz from Merida. The clip starts with a Zorro run in, so at least they’re not wasting time. Chessman gets in spears on Mesias and Kenzo, Zorro gets in a thrust kick on Mesias, but Konnan knocks Chessman off the top rope, and some how that’s good enough for the pin. The rest of the Sect hits the ring and beats everyone down. Didn’t see Parka at all here – I don’t know if he’s meant to be outside the ring or what.

05/06: Mistico injury may be worse, Lucha 2000 show, FSE

Mistico’s situation might have gotten quite a bit worse. According to an article on Esmas, he was telling people at the lucha libre expo that he could be out 6-8 months. It appears the initial “3 weeks” estimate is actually how much time they want him resting before they take another look at it, and see if surgery is necessary. If it is, he’s out till ’08.

The story of Mistico’s injury keeps changing. In that article, they’re going with the idea Perro hurt it (as hype to build up to the match, which might just happen a bit later.) KrisZ noted Mistico seemed hurt Tuesday in a match in Cuervanaca, but I think that just might have been the last bump before they got him to the doctor. CAN52 had the kid’s day Warrior/Mistico match from Sunday, and Mistico’s left shoulder was already heavily taped. During the match, Mistico took Warrior’s bullet tope into the front row, with his left shoulder going directly into the seats, and this article credits that dive as well (thought that may be hype as well.)

If Mistico is out for an extended period of time, CMLL wouldn’t necessary half to strip him of his championships, and filling three titles at once might be a bit much. On the other hand, it allows them to get the belts off Mistico without Mistico actually jobbing. I’d guess they’d take away the tag team titles – Averno & Mephisto vs Negro and a replacement partner seems about right – but the two singles titles could be inactive for a half year and it wouldn’t be a problem.

CMLL’s going to have to startnig planning the rest of the year without Mistico. I suspect we’ll get a Perro stips match, and they seem like they’re pushing towards Shocker/Ultimo once again. Lots of stuff will have to be worked out.

Mistico being hurt long term would seem to end his chances of jumping to WWE at this point; CMLL would probably pay him more while sitting out than WWE would, at least until he’s established there.

LUCHAS 2000 (SAT) 05/05 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, Mr. Reyes]
1) Valiente b Cerebro Negro, Danger, Extreme Tiger, Flash, Free Lance, Leono, Mascara Purpura, Mictlan, Super Nova, Texano Jr., Virus
2) Volador Jr. & Volador Sr. b Hijo de Rey Misterio & Rey Misterio Sr. and Stuka I & Stuka Jr. and Misterioso Jr. & Misterioso Sr.
3) Rayman & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. b Lizmark Jr. & Lizmark Sr. and Cien Caras & Hijo de Cien Caras and El Hijo del Mascara Ano 2000 & Mascara Ano 2000
4) LA Park b Villano III, Blue Demon Jr., Villano IV, Silver King, El Hijo del Solitario [hair]

LA Park took Villano III’s hair. Not much to Virus and Valiente were said to have a good sequence at the end of the opening cibernetico; hopefully, we’ll see a bit more of that with Virus’ rudo turn.

Sign On San Diego has a big story on lucha libre, talking a little bit about the shows in Tijuana. Isn’t there indy lucha libre in San Diego? I thought so…

Accion:

CMLL: Main event trios, with Mistico’s cameo. Mistico had three of his belts with him – no IWRG. Aguila had Groon-like painted on muscles. I’m not sure that’s the way to go. Lots of dives highlighted, and Perro picked up another clean win, this time over Negro.

AAA: Highlights from the cage match, with Abismo leaving and Cibernetico and Mesias left in. Mesias chairshots Cibernetico, but Zorro throws in the cane to him and Cibernetico rallies with that, and a chokeslam. No post match uniting is shown.

FSE has
04/29 Coliseo: Averno, Dos Caras Jr., Mascara Sagrada b Mascara 2000, Sangre Azteca, Universo 2000
04/29 Coliseo: Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila b Maximo, Sagrado, Texano Jr. [MEX TRIOS]

IWRG’s site is still down.

04/22: More AAA TV notes, Jeque/Stuka finish, Accion

Rodrigo_Park @ box y lucha has a recap of the 04/20 AAA Xalapa taping. Notes not mentioned in Ovaciones:
– the taping started 3 hours late; it was an outdoor show, so they didn’t want to start till the rain stopped, but that doesn’t help the fans who were stuck out waiting.
– the show suffered due to the wet ring; a Fuerza Aerea member blew a spot badly because of it
– Joe Lider and Crazy Boy ran in the Sect/Barrios match for the usual spots. Joe might have hurt his knee in here
– Cibernetico was nowhere to be found on the show, so after the tag match, you had a scene of Charly and Chessman versus the whole Sect and the whole Vipers. It did not fair well for the Hell Brothers.
– La Parka Jr introduced Tinieblas Jr. as his replacement.

The recap mentions Octagon was walking strange to the ring and, friends of his noted (so this secondhand, thirdhand when you’re reading it here) they smelled alcohol on him. Seeing as the wrestlers must’ve been sitting backstage with nothing to do for three hours, it certaintly seems possible they might have had a beer while killing time. I don’t know if it means he was drunk or what.

CMLL FSE was as noted yesterday, which means
04/13 Mexico: Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Luna Magica, Sahori
04/15 Mexico: Stuka Jr. b Jeque [mask]

I have to say, my personal highlight from the the mask match was Arkangel (and Jeque’s family) wearing a Jeque shirt – I can not believe such a thing exists.

Jeque TOTALLY got screwed. Stuka sorta did too, because the match story wasn’t Stuka getting a big win, it was Tigre Hispano screwing up. Jeque missed a top rope move, Stuka covered him, Jeque kicked out at 2, and Tigre Hispano counted three anyway. I had feared it was Jeque doing a little business for himself, but from the move that led to the finish and the amount of time left in the show, it was pretty obviously designed to be a near fall and Hispano screwed it up. FSE showed slow motion replays clearly showing Jeque getting his shoulder up – this was bad. After the three count, everything fell apart; I think Jeque wanted to ignore the three count and keep going, but Hispano didn’t immediately wave off the three count, Jeque quickly realized they were screwed and gave up the goat.

They MIGHT be able to do a return hair match here, but they sure shouldn’t be putting Tiger Hispano in another big match anytime soon.

We got a crying child though. That was great.

Accion:

CMLL: MONKEY VS MONKEY, though they really didn’t explain what was up with that, and Evil Black Monkey got beat up by Bucanero and strechered out too. Lots of focus on Ultimo/Shocker to build up next week’s match, and the finish.

AAA: Mexican Powers vs Guapos. Crazy Boy moonsault off a high object, CHECK. Joe Lider’s new outfit is ugly, but he was good enough to beat up Guapocito and Scorpio Jr. for the win.

According to Bob Barnett on Figure Four Daily, part of Vampiro’s return to CMLL is to set up a deal between the promotion and a Canadian PPV company. That would be cool, if it happens.
