Billy el Malo & Escoria vs Argos & Semental: Good match. The audio weirdness detracted a little bit; the crowd seems into it enough to do chants at the proper times, but there was no ambient noise except for the really loud ring, making it feel more like a match in empty arena or a barely attended indy show and not a seemingly packed Toluca crowd. Argos was fine as a rudo, and had less trouble than his AAA técnico appearances. This felt like an opening card match and not one where guys were going any place bigger than this, but it was good for an opener.
Dr. Wagner Jr. & Drago vs Halloween & Octagón: A match of people clowning around, and occasionally wrestling. The majority of the people involved in this one were not into it, and it was an un-pleasurable television watching experience. If this finish isn’t really going to matter – and it didn’t because Consejo was there to make us ignore it – then there’s no reason to do a foul and a chair shot to the head. This was a match better of not occurring.
Jack Evans vs Chessman, Texano Jr., Nicho el Millionario in a AAA’s Rey de Reyes semifinal match: This is a rare AAA match I wish got more time; they were doing good until this got taken over by weird storylines – Nicho’s wandering act and Tirantes screwing Texano. There has to be a way to get out of referees screwing the rudos from now on, because it’s going to get odd for the good guys always needing help to win. Everyone looked good here.
LA Park vs La Parka, Electroshock, Silver King in a AAA’s Rey de Reyes Tournament semifinal match: Listed as a four way, but more or less a missing Park vs Parka match due to the editing. La Park destroyed La Parka, who managed to keep surviving for quite a while but never got as much as he took. The powerbomb on the tub looked especially painful, but Parka was bleeding long before that. If you liked their previous matches, this is an 11 minute version of them.

La Braza & Pimpinela Escarlata vs Pasion Kristal & Yuriko: Bad. Braza is normally poor, and Pasion Cristal and Yuriko were screwing up things all over the place. Pimpinela was way above the rest of this, but that’s not saying that much. Maybe they shouldn’t be putting the exoticos on TV if this is what they’re going to be doing.
Daga, Fenix, Gran Apache vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro: Good until the last minute or so, where 911 and Apache did not seem to be in the same book. They got the finish, and it was neat to see the Oficials win (clean, they don’t even do that in IWRG), but there was nothing otherwise about the match that made them look like a great team for people who had never seen them. AAA’s team got in a lot of offense, Oficials were missing the teamwork spots.
Cuervo & Ozz vs Chessman & Último Gladiador [AJPW TAG]: Nothing but turn taking doing moves, the whole way. Not really done at the speed to make it worked, way too slow for that. This match left the me cold, and the crowd didn’t seem to get into it – it never built to anything, it was just stuff happening until a conclusion. This AJPW title bit hasn’t meant a single thing in AAA.
Héctor Garza vs Heavy Metal, Toscano, Joe Lider in a AAA’s Rey de Reyes Tournament semifinal match: I liked this match more that everything before it; the four way worked as far making this an interesting match. I usually have problems with everyone in this match (referee included) but it melded together well. I have no problem with Heavy Metal losing to his own hold (on a night he was honored, even), but he did look far more lucid here than his previous time thru. Always a nice sign. Garza biting Sombra’s finish is sure an peculiar choice – he should’ve picked one of his better ones!
Cibernético vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Juventud Guerrera in a AAA’s Rey de Reyes semifinal match: It’s silly to have Piero and Tirantes only cheating the Consejo guys once and acting normal all the way up to that spot, but I can’t complain about an AAA match having ‘not enough’ rudo heel spots. This was some run-ins and some wrestling and nothing worth great.

Argenis, Atomic Boy, Relampago vs Ángel Mortal, Gran Apache, Tito Santana: Good match; Atomic Boy and Argenis are adding different ideas to their repertoire, which is great if they’re going to be on TV more than once every months. Relampago remains Relampago, but he was better than last time out. Apache and Tito were in the right places at the right time; Angel Mortal looked a little bit slow but it could’ve been the other guys going too fast.
Dinastía, Mascarita Divina, Octagoncito vs Mini Chessman, Mini Histeria, Mini Psicosis: Really good minis match. Felt short than it actually was, but they just had a lot they wanted to get thru. Dinastia looked impressive and unique in his debut, just what you wanted. The rudos seemed better than they have in the past; they could still use one more good one, but they had tricky técnico offense to keep up with and managed it well here.
El Elegido & Fenix vs Alan Stone & Dark Dragon: Fenix and Dark Dragon did their thing and Alan seemed to be trying. Elegido was less than usual. The match finish was one of those nonsensical evil guys doing evil things for no particular reason – if Konnan just wanted Alan out of the group, why even let him have the match? I don’t think we’re going to be seeing a lot of Alan Stone either way. I wonder where this leaves the mixed tag titles (or maybe we’re just not going to be see a lot of those either.)
Cibernético, Daga, Electroshock vs Chessman, La Parka, Último Gladiador: if AAA was the kind of promotion that showed crazy things as much as CMLL shows that clip of Naito being clotheslined on his head, that would actually be a somewhat defensible finish. As it was, the crowd totally bought the brainbuster as a finish (and it will be, because no one besides Gladiador – and maybe Dark Dragon – will be silly enough to agree to something like a top rope Canadian Destroyer), and instead UG kicked out of that at zero to set up the crazy dangerous stop that they’ll never show again. You’re doing crazy moves only to impress yourself, that’s not the way it’s supposed to work. Chessman and UG did great work here. Electroshock was way into showing off all his moves. Cibernético and Parka is definitely an issue, but not a particularly hot one; changing each sides doesn’t totally take away from this being a decade long feud.
Dr. Wagner Jr. & El Mesías vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Halloween: fifteen minute match with no finish, a great use of my time. Actually, the técnicos were most assuredly about to win, and win easily considering where the Perros used to be. It is Halloween, and Halloween and Damian exist to take losses in matches like this, so it’s not really a big deal. I haven’t been high on Mesías vs Jarrett because Jarrett’s not been around, but it’s not like Mesías has been all that interesting either.

Fabi Apache & Mascarita Dorada vs Mini Histeria & Sexy Star: good built to a Dark Dragon vs Mascarita Dorada match that I don’t believe is ever happening or even really planned. Sexi said she did not want to wrestle for these fans, and the woman kept true to her word! This was ominous start.
Cibernético, Daga, Fenix vs Dark Dragon, Dizzy, La Parka: Another poor outing. Fenix looked more unready for this level in this match than he has since appearing. He blew both dives he tried and had plenty of other spots not go right or nearly go wrong. Daga’s debut did not look as spectacular as Rocco’s either, though he was much better than his partner. Cibernético looks liked a man with no working knees, which is actually normal. Dizzy, only here to make up the numbers, seemed more in mind to try and catch someone’s eye to make it on TV. That didn’t help the match any. The conditions may have played a part in this, but there needed to be some adjustment made to the slippery surfaces if that was the problem, and these guys just kept trying to do their matches. Better to do less spectacular stuff and actually pull it off than mess up anything. To top that off, we get the AAA classic “tecnicos win, immediately get killed to make sure the win didn’t mean anything.”
Extreme Tiger & Jack Evans vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Halloween: Match wasn’t itself anything special – though probably the best thing on this show – but they continue to get this story over well. Perro being befuddled about losing was amusing. Lots and lots of replays.
El Mesías & Zorro vs Héctor Garza & LA Park: They went twenty three minutes, put Garza thru table thing (sort of) and then made it all about Joaquin and Konnan and LA Park. This was not a good use of anyone’s time. It was not a really much of an interesting match up to that, a lot of killing time and trying not be killed in a ring that wasn’t working out well for anyone.
