Match 1: Metálico & Starman vs Disturbio & Hijo del Signo
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos

  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:39
Rating: below average/ok
Notes: Referee is Tigre Hispano.

1: Pairs are Metálico & Disturbio and Starman & Signo. Has to be that way after the laws were passed to prevent Metálico & Signo from continuing to feud. First two don't accomplish much, but Disturbio refuses to back down from Metálico. Starman and Signo just don't accomplish much. Speed picks up after the first cycle, with everyone getting involved to take out each other. Starman flapjacks Signo and ties him up in a slight tapatía variant.

2: Metálico shows off various armdrags with Disturbio. Starman pulls off a headscissors off the apron on Signo. Signos turns the match around for the rudos by tripping Metálico from the outside. Disturbio's double knee smash finishes Starman, and he dumps Metálico so Signo can land the top rope splash.

3: Signo and Metálico are a bit rough with each other when they finally fight. Starman sneaks in a quebradora on Signo, Disturbio dropkicks him out, then sidesteps Metálico dropkick. Chop. Whip, Metálico with a neat step over into a sunset flip for two. Signo breaks that up, which is more pinfall breaks then I'd think we get. Signo pounds on Metálico, Metálico scoops him up, drops him with a rolling forward slam and cradles him for three. Disturbio fights his way to the top rope, but is pulled off and pinned.

Match 2: Hijo del Fantasma, Rey Cometa, Tritón vs Ishii, Namajague, Shigeo Okumura
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos

  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:40
Rating: good
Notes: Referee is Pompin.

1: Pairs are Rey Cometa/Namajague, Triton/Okumura, and Fantasma/Ishii. Ishii takes a headscissors and gets up hitting and choking Fantasma. Fantasma blocks a pinch and enziguris Ishii, which doesn’t seem so great. Namjague's pulled in the splits in the fist fall, ducks the kick, and inside cradle Fantasma, but still ends up superkicked by Fantasma an tumbling out. Fantasma goes for a tope, but Okumura pulls down the ropes and Fantasma spills out onto the ramp. Triton planchas Fantasma, drops him in the corner, and Cometa lands his 450 splash one two three. Triton put him too close, I think. Triton dumps Ishii in the opposite corner, and slightly makes contact on a twisting senton con giro for the other pin.

2: Cometa knocks Namajague back with a big chop Looks like we missed some earlier back and forth. Rope running evasion, Cometa twists Namajague with a headscissors, then sends him high in the air with a monkey flip. Cometa rolls out, and rushes to avoid any tope con giro. Triton pulls off a nice headscissors on Okumura before missile dropkicking him out. Ishii hits Fantasma hard with a clothesline and suplexes him for a two count. This is one of those times I rewind to see if I missed the turnaround spot, and there really was none. Ishii tries to pull Fantasma's mask off, needs work on it. Fantasma thrown into the rudo corner and cover sup as he gets attacked. Corner charges for him. Fantasma crawls to his corner and tags in – well, both guys. Triton comes in. two man faceslam on Triton, Namajague holds on for his German suplex, now rolled over into a sitting on top of a pin – that's some bending. It's enough for pin. Cometa and Ishii have trouble starting the delayed superplex but it comes off good when they get to it.

3: Namajague starts the fall chopping around Triton, but Triton monkey flips him in short order. Okumura puts Triton out with a big boot. Ishii is still slow to realize when he get can get involved (any time he wants), but likes headbutting people. Okumura and Namajague give Fantasma the super twisting armbar, and Namajague actually tries to get a pin on it, then argues a lot when it doesn't work. Fantasma sneaks in for an inside cradle for two. Fantasma tags to – well, both guys again, and they both come in. Triton leaves, and Namajague slaps Cometa in the face multiple times. Cometa slap Namajague back – back across the right. Namajague slaps Fantasma down. Whip, double boot with Okumura, double pose. Triton is whipped into the corner, rudo whip Fantasma in, Triton flips him to safety a and takes out Okumura and Namajague. Ishii forearms him, Cometa dropkicks Ishii, Namajague forearms him, and Fantasma lands the Phantom attack on Namajague, who flips around. Okumura breaks up that pin. Triton springboard headscissors him, fireman's drops him in the center of the ring, standing moonsault and Ishii breaks it up. Ishii and Cometa have a chop versus forearm, when Cometa wins by ducking and dumping Ishii. Quebrada, Namajague breaks up the pin. Fantasma bumps Namajague, off the ropes, huracanrana, one two three!

Match 3: Delta & Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Gran Guerrero & Último Guerrero in a CMLL World Tag Team Contenders eightfinal
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

Winner: Guerreros
Match Time: 3:43
Notes: Referee is Tirantes.

Delta & Gran do opening fall like mat work (for them), which seems out of place when I see the file lasts around five minutes. Handshake at the end, huh. Ultimo is earing a black mask, Gran a gold, a rare difference between them that you can barely make out. Maya and UG go a higher speed and last about 30 seconds before the other two guys are line. Delta is whipped into a headscissors on Gran Guerrero, and UG walks into a Maya missile dropkick. Delta tosses Maya into a tope con giro on UG, and then lands his own moonsault to the floor on Gran Guerrero. Replay shows UG made a real good catch on a dive that didn't go as far as they thought. Guerreros run over the técnicos as they all come back, in, and immediately tie them up on the double submission for the win. This is the template.

Match 4: Diamante Azul & Marco Corleone vs Terrible & Vangellys in a CMLL World Tag Team Contenders eightfinal
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

Winner: técnicos
Match Time: 4:08
Notes: Referee is Pompin.

Azul and Vangelis do the Azul slide into a kick to the face, which is still good. Forearm fight, Vangelis slams Azul but misses a senton. Azul slides out on Vangelis for no reason. Vangelis does not dive because he's not Ephesto. Oh, it's a contrived set up to Azul dragon screw, I see. Wheel kick, check. Terrible lets Marco dance a bit before chopping him around. Marco punches Terrible until Vangellys helps out. Azul takes corner clotheslines. Rudos stand around so Marco can punch them. Terrible rallies back, but sends Marco to the apron. Marco punches him down, but Vangellys lands the tope thru the ropes again. Azul back in, Terrible misses a charge, Azul superkicks him, then giant armdrags Vangellys. Azul lines up the rudos, and Marco lands Aero Italia on Terrible for one pin. German suplex on Vangellys for the other.

Match 5: Mistico & Valiente vs Psicosis & Volador Jr. in a CMLL World Tag Team Contenders eightfinal
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

Winner: Invasors
Match Time: 2:59
Notes: Joined with the fight in progress. Referee is Tigre Hispano. Mije is with the rudos.

Rudos lay out the técnicos. Crowd chants for Volador. Volador drops Valiente in front of the corner, and Psicosis flattens him with a senton. Mistico's kicked down in the corner. Valiente ducks a double clothesline, Místico springboard dropkick, and the técnicos land a tope con giro and a tope on the rudos. Multiple replays. Near finish breakups back and forth, though Místico struggles on a tapatía with Psicosis and Volador and Valiente have all sort of problems with the usual Volador superkick spot. Won't boo Volador even in a both. Volador's La Mística escape is clumsy looking (mostly on Místico's part). Psicosis gets a backcracker on Místico, Volador superkicks and backcrackers Valiente, that's it .

Match 6: Atlantis & La Sombra vs Ephesto & Misterioso Jr. in a CMLL World Tag Team Contenders eightfinal
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 2:04
Notes: Referee is Tirantes. Whistle blows after Atlantis and Misterioso have locked up, or maybe the sound is edited that way.

Misterioso armdrags, Atlantis tries to put him in a tapatía, Ephesto breaks up and takes a couple quebradora s. Atlantis really shouldn't have to even tag in Sombra tow in this. Misterioso makes it happen by pulling Atlantis out. Crowd boos as Sombra springboards into plancha Ephesto. Sombra headscissors Ephesto out. Double tope by the técnicos into the rudos. Everyone wanders back in, Misterioso gets Sombra in a Gori stretch just so Atlantis can turn into a cradle while Atlantis gets his own on Ephesto. Crowd wants to boo Sombra more than cheer Atlantis.

Match 7: Diamante Azul & Marco Corleone vs Gran Guerrero & Último Guerrero in a CMLL World Tag Team Contenders quarterfinal
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

Winner: Guerreros
Match Time: 3:45
Notes: Referee is Pompin.

Gran Guerrero is having trouble with his chest piece staying in place – it flares up in front of his face for the second match in a row while he's on the mat with Azul. Guerreros quickly double team Marco, but Marco makes the leapfrog comeback the next time he's in. UG knocks Marco to the apron. Azul clears him out and Gran Guerrero takes his monkey flips. Azul ramp tope con giro on Gran, Marco Aero Italia on UG, but UG rolls thru for the pin. UG slams Azul and GG top rope splashes him for the win. Crowd seems surprised. Marco claims his tights were pulled!

Match 8: Atlantis & La Sombra vs Psicosis & Volador Jr. in a CMLL World Tag Team Contenders quarterfinal
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

Winner: técnicos
Match Time: 1:47
Notes: Referee is Tigre Hispano.

Rudos jump the técnicos. Volador now wears half mask to the ring, and goes after Sombra's mask. Mije lands the middle rope headbutt drop on Atlantis, then headbutts him in the chest. Sombra Devitts his way to a comeback. Atlantis quebradoras Psicosis, Atlantida on Volador, Brillante Bomb on Psicosis, done.

Stellar Moments

Lo Doloroso: Sobreano headscissors walking the top rope on Guerrero Negro

El Rudo: Guerrero Negro Jr. Buca Storm on Soberano

El Tecnico: Rey Cometa tornillo on Puma

El Lance: Triton Special on Puma

Lo Admirable: Phantom Attack on Tiger

Match 9: Atlantis & La Sombra vs Gran Guerrero & Último Guerrero in a CMLL World Tag Team Contenders semifinal
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

Winner: técnicos
Match Time: 4:53
Notes: Referee is Tirantes.

Everyone takes each other out, with the técnicos teasing dives but running out to attack the Guerreros and whip them into each other. Guerreros immediately turn it around because that's the way of tournaments. Tecnicos turn it back around immediately to set up topes on either side of the ring. UG and Sombra back in, Sombra sets up for a top rope huracanrana (and seems distracted by the boos), but of course that's going to be reversed into a super powerbomb for two. Sombra dumps UG in the opposite corner and connects his rope flip moonsault, but Gran breaks it up. Gran sit down powerbomb, Atlantis breaks it up. Gran clotheslines Atlantis, elbow drop, cover for two. Atlantis quebradora for two. Atlantis teases the moonsault, but UG trips him up and teases the Guerrero Special. Sombra breaks that up, drops UG on the mat, Atlantis planchas Gran Guerrero one two NO. Técnicos tie up the rudos arms, flip them over, and bridge to cover for three. That seemed underwhelming. Tecnicos celebrate like they accomplished something.

History Capsule: Dr. Wagner Jr.! Todo x el Todo footage, and mentioning him winning the AAA title. I can't believe this aired on a CMLL show and shows they can apparently do whatever they want.

Match 10: Euforia, Mephisto, Mr. Niebla vs Ángel de Oro, Shocker, Thunder
Arena Mexico, 09/24/2013

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos

  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:21
Rating: eh/okay
Notes: Zacarias is with Mr. Niebla. Clip after entrances to the rudos suddenly beating up the técnicos, and it's unknown why. Niebla is attacking Angel de Oro, so it's not a Shocker/Niebla thing like usual. Angel de Oro has a very patriotic outfit, as if it's gear he bought for an Anniversary show appearance. Referee is Tirantes.

1: Maybe it's a “show is running long, let's move it along” thing. Euforia kicks Thunder on the floor many times. Euforia tries to lift Thunder up on the buckle to take off his mask, and Thunder really doesn’t want to go for a while. Mephisto holds Shocker is a a tirabuzón for a while until Tirantes finally calls the submission. Shocker's the captain, so Niebla's powerbomb and pin on Angel de Oro doesn't matter. Well, maybe it matters to Angel de Oro. Zacarias gets in a splash on Oro.

2: Thunder avoids a corner charge a minute in to start the comeback, which is just booed a lot. Thunder tope con giro on Euforia, double mecedora by the técnicos for the win in a quick one.

3: Euforia runs away from Thunder a lot. That kills a bunch of time, as does Shocker and Mephisto do building up a single chops. Shocker has the power to no sell Niebla's chops to the chest this week. Euforia is somehow not big enough to knock Thunder down with shoulderblocks. Niebla walks out on Mephisto after bing hit by accidentally, and Angel de Oro and Mephisto pose a bunch before get going. Oro wins that, of course. Niebla catches his spit, Oro dropkicks him out an lands the inside out moonsault. Shocker gets he time killing submission on Thunder struggles climb the top rope to plancha Euforia, Euforia gets up kicks Thunder and powerbombs him for one pin, while Mephisto cradles Shocker for the other. Euforia slaps Thunder in the face repeatedly after the match, which may or may not be part of the scheduled performance.

Announcers wrap up.
