CMLL on Televisa #1148 (04/06/2013)
Recapped: 04/07/2013

Arena Coliseo history package, about the founding of the building. This is a lot of the same footage as seen on Cadena3, but re-edited with a JCR voice over and none of the interviews. More boxing, and trying to draw lines between Santo and Místico La Nueva Era, Blue Demon and Diamante Azul (people who look nothing alike!), Cavernaria Galindo and Terrible, Black Shadow and Sombra, Gori Guerrero and Ultimo Guerrero. Among the montage at the end, Oro makes a rare non-dying appearance, always nice.

Announcers segue to a preview of this show.

Match 1: Astral & Shockercito vs Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito
Arena Mexico, 03/29/2013

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:41
Rating: good
Notes: Yay minis. Referee is Pompin.

1: Astral and Pierrothito start off on the mat, Astral managing to keep it even and armdrag Pierrothito at the end of their first big exchange, though Pierrothito repays him at the end of the next. Slaps send them to making tags. Demus makes rudo motions to Shockercito. Demus is back to wearing pants as opposed to his wacky outfit on other shows. He throws Shockercito around and makes fun of the Shockercito strut, but Shockercito comes back with armdrags of his own. Nice helicopter headscissors too. Shockercito headscissors sends Demus out of the ring and rushes in and back elbows Shockercito out, but Astral dropkick him. Demus back in and planted Astral with a shoulder powerslam. Demus pulls off Astral's shirt and slaps him in the chest. Astral is a lot skinner of late. Corner whip to the rudo corner, Pierrothito kicks Astral away, and Demus punches Astral in the butt. Hmmm. Rudos slap Astral in the corner. Corner whip, Astral sort swing thru the ropes but gets stuck half way, and whatever Shockercito tries to do is edited out. We still hear the boos when Demus is back and throwing him around. Pierroth nicely monkey flips Shockercito into a headscissors on Demus, and the técnicos pull off finishes from there.

2: Demus messes with Astral, both try clotheslines, neither goes down, but Astral is in worse shape. Astral headlock, shot off, flipping run, off the ropes evasion,f ace off, and back to the slap fight. Demus off the ropes, and puling up just short of an Astral dropkick. Whip, they try the dropkick again, and this time Astral makes contract. Pierrothito drops Astral with an off the shoulder spinning faceslam. Slap to the back, kick, and tag back to Demus. Demus spinebuster, giant swing, Pierrothito adding the dropkick. Shockercito trying to help but Demus moves out of the way. Shockercito tries a springboard plancha, gets caught and dropped in a front backbreaker. Rudos slap Shockercito into the back, then tosses him far on a rebound hiptoss. Astral in with a plancha , but the rudos move. Técnicos sent into each other, then lifts up for finishes.

3: Demus bites Astral all over the chest, then switches to the hand. Demus drops Astral near the corner, tags in Pierroth, tags in him again legally, and Pierrothito slings himself in with an elbow drop. Crowd chanting for the rudos, who have been the better team. Shockercito lands on his feet on a toss, and Demus accidentally tosses him into a headscissors on Pierrothito. Astral springboard armdrag sends Demus out. Pierrothito and Astral evade, then oddly hesitate on the next spot. Messy looking springboard headscissors send Pierrothito to the ropes, and he throws himself out chasing Astral. Astral tries to follow out immediately with a slingshot tornillo, but overshoots Pierrothito and lands on the floor. Pierrothito stomps him down to cover. Demus and Shockercito in, but they've sort of lost the crowd in the moment. Shockercito casadora armdrags Demus, and yanks him around by the head in to rudo positions. Shockercito triple, no, quadruple headscissors! Demus is out, exhausted. Shockercito staggers to the corner – but Pierrothito shoves him to catch Shockercito. (No DQ.) Astral back in, headstand headscissors onto Demus blocked and Demus powerbombs Astral on the floor. Shockercito back in, but pulled up in a Gori Bomb. Inverted bridging chinlock, Shockercito gives. Pierrothito holds his right arm in. Astral counted out.

Pierrothito doesn't even want Demus to raise the bad arm after the match. Demus raise the good arm and dances to Pierrothito's music. Pierrothito appears to be trying to shake life into it. Astral is also strechered out.

80th anniversary promo.

Match 2: Máscara Dorada vs Rey Escorpión in a lightning match
Arena Mexico, 03/29/2013

Winner: Rey Escorpion
Match Time: 7:33 (clock shows 7:53)
Rating: very good
Notes: joined at the whistle. Referee is

Back and forth armbars until Escorpion hiptosses Dorada to the ramp. Dorada catches his breath, ducks a Escorpion clothesline, and headscissors him up the ramp. Dorada hurries up the ramp, sets himself, and comes off easy with a tope con giro. Dorada celebrates, then catches his breath. Escorpion poses near the ring. Referee appears to be counting, not that it matters. Escorpion kicks Dora back, but still takes a backdrop into the ring, Dorada back up the ram, and running in for a springboard headscissors to send Escorpion out the other side. Dorada of the rope – huge tope, pressing Escorpion into the barricade. Replays from multiple angles. Dorada back in first. Springboard huracanrana, one two NO. Dorada off the ropes, tossed up and down with another huracanrana, one two NO. Dorada shoulderblock, Escorpion unmoved and slapping Dorada in the face. Dorada slaps him back, off the ropes, and Escorpion spins him out with a shoulderblock. Escorpion chop Dorada back into the corner. Corner whip, Dorada kicks Escorpion away, charge out into a powerslam one two NO. Dorada to the corner, Escorpion charges, Dorada flips him to the apron, slaps him there, goes to the top rope – and misses a senton con giro on the apron! Escorpion tope con giro wipes Dorada out. Replays of that. Dorada is a crazy for that senton, but he seems to only do it once every two years. Another replay of Escorpion dive. Back live, Escorpion in, Dorada in on him with a springboard plancha. Torito, two count. Escorpion jabs Dorada, lifts him on his shoulders, and drops him on the top buckle. Escorpion backs up, charges, and forearms Dorada in the back. Escorpion yells at the people. It's five minutes on the clock, though we've lost 20 seconds along the way.

Escorpion out to apron to slap Dorada down, but Dorada pull himself back up. Escorpion is stunned, and punches Dorada to knock him back down. It doesn’t work. Escorpion stands astride the top rope and fights Dorada,a but Dorada back elbows him away. Crowd shot, Dorada turns around, and pulls Escorpion off with a headscissors one two NO. Dorada pounds the mat angrily. Crowd chants for him. Both men wait for each other. Dorada runs, tossed up, huracanrana blocked this time into a sit down powerbomb one two NO. Both up, Dorada chops Escorpion back, but Escorpion kicks him down. Escorpion charges, right into the giant monkey flip to the floor. Dorada out to the ramp. Crowd shot. Dorada runs, flying headscissors off the ramp into Escorpion, crazy looking. Escorpion recovers on the outside while we get a replay. Replay is even better. Back live, just in time for a Brillo Dorado, Dorada manging to land on his feet after it. Dorada chant, but Escorpion throws him back first into the barricade. Escorpion back in, Dorada springboard, Escorpion powerbombs, then lifts him and drops him for another powerbomb one two three. Wow, that was a sudden finish.

CMLL Cartela: Tuesday @ Arena Mexico – Diamante Azul, Máximo, Brazo de Plata vs Felino, Negro Casas, Mr. Niebla

Diamante greets the special fan of the week. An older fan who has older fan favorites and likely has no idea who this Diamante guy is.

Match 3: Marco Corleone, Rush, Shocker © vs Mr. Águila, Volador Jr. ©, Terrible
Arena Mexico, 03/29/2013

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. técnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:04
Rating: okay/good
Notes: Rudos have already attacked. Always amused when I notice I've missed a sub only when I go to do the recap. Volador is replacing Rey Bucanero here. Comandante is with the rudos. Referee is Tirantes.

1: Volador destroys Shocker with a superkick. Marco does fine with Terrible until he can drag Marco to the rudo corner and get help. Rudos hold Shocker for Aguila to punch, and he pays them back by sending Shocker into their kicks. Catapult hold/legdrop on Shocker. Terrible wins a chop fight with Rush, and sets him in the corner for Volador's running double knee smash. Terrible spinebuster and tilted crab finishes Rush.

Volador uses a testicular claw on Marco, then finishes with the backcracker.

Rudos beat up on Shocker in between falls, which seem to be no problem. Announcers are more interested in Tirantes' shoes.

2: Everyone pounds Rush. Marco's quickly taken care of. Shocker avoids corner charges and takes care off all the técnicos to start the comeback. Shot for Comandante, big for Aguila, Terrible dropkick Shocker out, and técnicos wipe Terrible and Volador out with apron dives for the win. Shocker chases after Aguila.

3: Marco and Rush get in their usual spots, though there's some weird (and maybe just bad) editing on Marco's springboard plancha to squeeze a crowd shot. Crowd boos Rush a lot. Announcers are more interested in Comandante. Rush wins the chop/punch battle with Terrible this time, which just gets him booed some more. Rush and Marco chop each other, and Marco raises Rush's arm. Shocker get to Aguila with no problem, but Aguila still get sin the jumping spinning heel kick. Aguila celebrates, runs into quebradoras, and Shocker clotheslines them both out (again.) Terrible batters Rush with kicks to the chest and back. Rush manges to reverse things, and slaps Terrible in the corner. Terrible dropkick Rush out of the ring, Rush jumping oddly before impact, and follows with his plancha off. That sequence seemed off a bit. Marco adds his running plancha ton Terrible, who does a good job of catching it. Volador tope con giro's Marco'. Shocker and Aguila in one more time, Shocker tries his big boot, Aguila deflects it at Tirantes, Tirantes turns away after nearly getting hit, Aguila fouls Shocker and cradles him, one two three.

Rush threatens to kill Tirantes, then walks off before Tirantes can walk off. Replays.

Mr. Aguila says he proved one more time that he – and they – are better.

Crowd reaction shots to wrap it up.
