Match 1: Hombre Bala Jr., Pegasso, Super Halcon Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Hijo del Signo, Hooligan
Arena Mexico, 09/25/2012

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:35
Rating: good
Notes: Referee is Tigre Hispano.

1: Pairs are Signo/Halcón, Arkangel/Bala, Hooligan/Pegasso. Arkangel has a long discussion with Signo before coming in again, then turns around, all the time waiting to be hit, but Halcón is just that slow on the pickup. It gets better when he's actually in there. Arkangel stops his flurry by barley stepping away from a corner charge and inside cradling Halcón. Halcón rolls thru for a submission, but Signo breaks it up. They go back to dueling over armbars, an odd bit for five minutes into a match, Bala adds an exchange before taking over, but Arkangel clotheslines him to get loose. Arkangel tags Hooligan in, Bala comes back on him with a swing kick and a rope flip moonsault for three. Signo and Pegasso wait until they're done for their finish, a headscissors into an inside cradle. That's different. Halcón and Arkangel fight even though Hispano is pretty clear the fall is over. Hispano gets in the middle to stop it.

2: Signo and Pegasso work well together. Bala improbably knocks down Hooligan with a springboard tope that just brushes him. Hooligan kicks Bala down, but Bala trips him on the ropes for the double kneedrop. Hooligan rolls out but Bala flies out to splash him. That was shot really well, Bala came out of nowhere nicely. Halcón walks over to the rudo corner and swipes at someone. Signo thinks it's him, but Halcón clarifies it's supposed to be Arkangel, and they make the tag. Arkangel leads Halcón thru more basics, Halcón getting in some flip armdrags before the rudos all rush in (no tags – the rules are dead!) Double hiptoss, triple boot. Bala brought in, and held in the corner for a while as Hooligan stops to taunt Pegasso. Low blow dropkick, check. Double suplex on Pegasso, and Signo goes a long way for a top rope splash to finish it.

3: Signo easily chops Bala out of the ring, then circles Pegasso into an attack on from behind by Hooligan. Pegasso runs oddly, now and forever. Pegasso sneaks in a sunset flip, but Hooligan breaks it up. Arkangel, winning my heart, twists Pegasso's right leg so Pegasso has a reason to be limping. Pegasso screams in pain and kicks free with the other foot, but Arkangel just trips him up again and goes after the foot. Halcón in and throws down. Arkangel shows off with a bridging cover, one two NO. Arkangel puts on a tirabuzón, Halcón reverses to one of his own, and the rudos break that up as well. Signo drops Halcón with the off the shoulder slam. Rudos come in, and miss a double clothesline oddly positioned but happening to allow Halcón to run up the corner for an armdrags. Everyone taking out everyone ends with Pegasso dropkicking out Hooligan, then headscissors Signo when he comes out for seconds. Pegasso gets him with a slingshot tope con giro. Other four in, rudos immediately win!

Match 2: Estrellita, Goya Kong, Marcela vs Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit, Zeuxis
Arena Mexico, 09/25/2012

  1. tecnicas

  2. rudas
  3. tecnicas

Winner: técnicas (2-1)
Match Time: 18:09
Rating: eh
Notes: Referee is Maya. Estrellita is in her Wonder Woman gear. I’m surprised she keeps the lasso!

1: Marcela and Zeuxis start off, where Marcela is surprised and slightly impressed by Zeuxis mat work at the beginning, then shifts into maestro (maestra? Auto-correct does not like that) gear and easily works Zeuxis in to crazy submissions. Zeuxis has to resort to a kick to get her to stop. Zeuxis has a new ridiculous move where she stands on one foot, holds her other foot in her hand, and lets it go to reflexively kick her kneeled over opponent in the head. No good shot out of it because the production crew has no idea it’s coming. Marcela flips out of a gutwrench, armdrags Zeuxis around, and sends her packing with a double underhook backbreaker. Estrellita dances, Sugheit kicks her around, mocks Estrellita, and kicks her some more. Sugheit is in no hurry. Estrellita is flipped to the apron, but almost falls to the floor. Estrellita dropkick ends their exchange. Goya does her usual bit with Blanca. Zeuxis comes back in to give Marcela something that doesn’t look right at all - a fireman’s carry into a faceslam, except Marcela goes down like she’s expecting a gutbuster. Marcela promptly does the move like how she imagined it to Zeuxis, and follows with her cartwheel double knee drop. Sugeith gets in a shot from the outside, but Marcela takes over on Blanca and the técnicas clear house.

2: Sugheit gets booed after taking the ring card, though Bruni the edecan is egging the crowd on. Trying to protect her own job! Rudas nearly randomly take over when Goya misses a corner charge and they all attack her. Beatdown is mostly kicking and such, though the Ladies do pull off a toss into a gutbuster. The follow up kick didn’t seem especially well timed, but you take what you can get. Blanca and Zeuxis put Goya on the middle rope and toss her off for one pin, while Sugeith submits Estrellita for the other.

3: While men’s beatdown often tend towards hold and hitting, women’s ones seem more about tossing and hitting. Sugeith uses a spinebuster only to set up another kick, because that’s the way she works. Marcela kicks the Princesas away as they charge, and they in turn accidentally kick Zeuxis to start the full scale comeback. Lots of kicks and such. Estrellita gets a near fall on a sunset flip roll thru dropkick on Sugheit as everyone else clears out, then headscissors Sugheit out. Goya traps Zeuxis in a Rosa, but the Princesas race in to break it up. Princesa lure Goya to splash Marcela by mistake, but let Marcela roll out. Blanca holds Goya in a camel clutch, but Estrellita trips Sugehit out of the ring. Blanca dropkicks Goya out, Zeuxis moonsaults to the floor in her direction while Estrellita springboard planchas Blanca for two. Estrellita casadora into her inverted figure four, and Blanca gives.

80th Anniversary Video Package: Salvador Lutteroth’s first show. They sure like using movie footage and pretending it’s from the first show.

Match 3: Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs La Máscara, Sagrado, Stuka Jr.
Arena Mexico, 09/25/2012

  1. Peste Negra

  2. tecnicos
  3. Peste Negra

Winner: Peste Negra
Match Time: 17:12
Rating: ok
Notes: Zacarias is with Pesta Negra. Referee is Tirantes.

1: Negro and Stuka have an okay standing chain wrestling battle, Negro backs off after a couple armdrags in about a minute, Stuka challenges him to come back in, and they go a slight bit more. Sagrado and Felino have a standard exchange leading to zero leg trips and Felino armpitting Sagrado. Again, it seems over before they just go on. Sagrado gets Felino in a couple holds, Niebla breaks it up with a slap to the back of the head, then runs off dancing. Sagrado slaps Niebla back at the next exchange, and scares him third thirds of the way up the ramp. Crowd loud when Niebla and Mascara come in. Tirantes forces Mascara to leave, because he didn’t a right, so Mascara steps to the apron and immediately tags back in. That really accomplished a lot. Mascara and Niebla pose off, with the crowd definitely cheering Niebla over Mascara. Mascara’s slaps only causing dancing – both of them dancing, actually. Mascara takes off his shirt in the first all, he’s just that serious . Chop battle, Niebla slide out on a while, mascara chases him out and Negro nails him with a back elbow. Rudos jump the técnicos from there. Niebla throws Mascara hard into the barricade. Negro holds Sagrado own for Felino’s elbow drop and covers, but Tirantes refuses to count, insists Negro is the legal man, and sends Felino on his way. Negro busts out a double underhook suplex, then tags Niebla for a top rope splash. Niebla slaps around Stuka, and Negro Casas puts on a sharpshooter for the fall.

Titan promo! He talks about what he’s already accomplished this year, and he’s going to beat Mephisto next.

2: Felino runs Mascara from corner to corner before dropkicking him in the head. Negro gets in some shots. Sagrado randomly quebradoras Mr. Niebla before Felino takes him out. Rudos give Stuka a triple headbutt. Mascara ducks a double clothesline, superkicks Niebla off the apron, and topes him to start the comeback. Sagrado planchas both Casas brothers, then drops Felino for Stuka torpedo splash. Negro trips Sagrado and tries a casita, but Sagrado roll thru for his own pin. Tirantes has no issue counting the pin this time.

3: Rudos stall before the fall. Sagrado's offense looks better with Negro than Felino (oddly slow for him, and quick to the comedy with Niebla.) Crowd loud for the Mascara/Negro matchup, chanting for Negro as he drags Mascara around by his mask. Mascara pays him back by dragging Negro around by his hair. Felino quickly gets in a cheap shot, but Máscara comes back against both of them. Felino looks better here. Zacarias tries his luck, but Mascara pushed him away. Zacarias charges, Mascara leapfrogs over him, Niebla kicks Zac by mistake and Máscara superkicks the parrot out. Niebla corner Mascara and slaps him around to set up the Niebla dance. Spit is – caught. Mascara kicks Niebla in the head on his neck charge and headscissors him right out. Negro and Stuka have a fierce chop battle until Negro begs off. Negro gets in a heel kick on a corner whip, but Stuka comes right back with a quebradora. Stuka rolls to the apron on a corner whip, fights Negro away, and missile dropkicks him out the other corner. Niebla in and dropping Stuka with a clothesline. Niebla does a new wacky dance. He's a man of many wacky dances. Crowd cheers for Niebla as he slaps Stuka in the face. Stuka fights back, much to the crowd's unhappiness. Niebla stops that by spitting in Stuka's face (which really shouldn't work, he's got a visor!) Normal whip oddly reversed into a corner whip to set up monkey flips. Felino in, Stuka flipping run, headscissors, out goes Felino. Stuka to the apron, and Sagrado monkey flips him into a tope con giro not Felino. Sagrado back in, Negro connects on a roll thru kick to the head, but Sagrado turns him around into the corner and puts on a time kilking hold. Mascara plancha on Niebla, but Niebla pulls him into a hammerlock/headscissors takedown. Sagrado's looking the wrong way, so Mascara gives without his partner realizing who exactly won – he sees Tirantes raise his ends to indicate the end of the fall and celebrates while Niebla gets his hand raised behind him!

Sagrado's reaction to finding out he's lost is never shown, lots of crowd shots instead.

Notes: Bane enters second, Titan resists urge to dive at him. Ref is Maya.

Titan takes Mephisto down, Mephisto armdrags him off the mat, Titan headstand rolls thru and backflips. Mephisto is not slightly phases. Titan off the ropes, up to Mephisto's shoulder, and off with an armdrag. I'm not sure what that was! Titan teases a dive, jumps to the apron instead, and pull of the rope flip moonsault there. Back life, Titan sits Mephisto on the top rope, slaps him to weaken him up, and pulls him off with a springboard headscissors one two NO. Both up quick, Titan inside cradle, one two no. Both up quick again, Titan casadora – no, Mephisto crawls away. The casadora is the most feared setup in CMLL right now, Mascara is in every rudo's head.
