  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 17:19
Rating: eh
Notes: Joined just before the match gets started. Tirantes is referee.

1: Atlantis and Dragon Rojo start, with Rojo going to a chinlock for a while, then a long standing surfboard. Atlantis escapes that to a hammerlock, but takes a back elbow to the jaw. Atlantis is stunned, and has Tirantes check his nose for blood. All good. Tags to Guerrero and Azul. Guerrero looks a little intimidated by Azul's size, as if this is the first he's contemplated Azul is so tall. UG keeps Azul down with leglocks, but Azul battles out of them. UG blocks the arm scissors. They scramble more, accomplish nothing, and tag out. Slow start here. Dragon Rojo misses a dropkick right away, Atlantis bumps him to the técnico corner, UG races in, Atlantis casadora cradles him for one pin. Escuedo on Rojo to finish it. Slow start, sudden end!

Announcers hype the rest of the show.

CMLL Cartela: Sunday – Averno vs Sombra

2: Guerrero slaps down Atlantis and tags in Rojo. Corner whip, Rojo clothesline, , senton de la muerte. He hangs up there a little long, which may be why Atlantis convulses a little extra. Rudos attacks Rojo's arm. Rojo dropkick to the knee, dropkick to the head. Atlantis tries to tag out, but Rojo pulls him back so Guerrero can kick him. Again a near tag, but they pull him short. Clothesline in the corner, Rojo low blow dropkick. Atlantis rolls out, and Azul hops over him to face Rojo. Rojo's shoves Azul back into rudo corner and Azul tries slapping both. That works, but not for long. Rudos do a two man version of the flying sit. Crowd starts singing for the rudos. Tecnicos whip in o each other, ties together, and double submitted. This is all to form for right now.

3: Azul and Rojo in, Azul superkicking Rojo in the corner and laying him out with his corner senton. Guerreros comes in, but Azul stops him with one hand, lifts him two, and press slams him in the ring. This has so far just been everyone just doing their moves in turn. Just missing some quebradoras. Azul tries to add a delayed elbow drop and misses. UG blocks the clothesline before Azul tries it, flips Azul, Azul off the ropes and headscissoring him. Azul screams, crowd boos. Atlantis and Rojo slap fight ends with Rojo kicks and dropkick. Rojo poses. Whip, reversed, Azul clothesline misses, Atlantis armdrag and, yes, quebradora. Guerrero in, and Atlantis points at him. UG shoulderblock, off the ropes, Atlantis hops over and monkey rolls him out of the ring. Atlantis out quick (clip?) and slapping Atlantis. Tecnicos run the rudos into each other. I don't know they got out there so fast! Tirantes counts them all out. Rudos thrown in, and fighting off the tecnicos. Técnicos rammed into each other. Azul falls off the apron, and the rudos hiptoss Atlantis in to the ring. Rudos leave him in the corner, then grab Azul. Whip, double clothesline misses, Azul boost dropkick on Rojo. UG takes the knee bum out, Azul topes both rudos. Atlantis pulls them up, and Atlantis topes – but only gets Azul. Well, good for the rudos. UG brings Azul in while the others rest. This guys are taking many breaths too. Corner whip, reversed, UG steps to the middle rope and invites Azul. Azul comes in, double jab, front superplex. This is every UG match ever. One two NO. UG clothesline misses, UG plancha caught and turned into a spinning side slam one two NO. Replays. Everyone else is back in their corners. Azul puts UG on the top rope, climbs up himself, top rope 'rana blocked into a superbomb. One two NO. Atlantis in and dropkicking Rojo as the other guys check out. Running plancha gets Atlantis a two count. Azul 'rana, Rojo rolls thru one two NO. Atlantis casadora cradle one two NO. Atlantis goes up – for a moonsault? No, so UG can set him up for the Guerrero Special. Azul picks UG on his shoulder to break that up, and it's the usual slam on one, plancha on the other near fall. Calling things usual seems unnecessary. Rudos rush off the ropes, clotheslines, técnicos don't go down. Rudos try again, técnicos go down. That was easier than I thought it'd be. Rudos high five, bounce off the ropes again, and técnicos clothesline them. Técnicos high five, try 'ranas, rudos turn them into powerbombs with their feet on the ropes, that also doesn't work. Atlantis dropkicks Rojo out, then gives UG two quebradoras. One two NO. Announcers into the match, crowd less so but still a bit. Me, not much. Atlantis slams UG, and goes up for the moonsault again. UG gets up and boosts Rojo into a dropkick to Atlantis' legs. UG knocks down Azul with a back elbow. Rudos thrilled. UG goes for the Guerrero Special, while Dragon Rojo – decides to whip Azul into the ropes? Azul reverses it and Rojo hits the ropes, but it's the same effect either way, UG goes tumbling off the top rope. UG gets up, looks at Rojo (who grabbed the ropes) and is very unhappy. Rojo misses a clothesline on Azul, UG walks past Azul to shove Rojo, Azul just grabs UG from behind to German suplex him, and Rojo runs right into the Atlantida. New champs, like that. Crowd is shocked, then starts cheering.

Tecnicos celebrate. They find a lot of shots of happy fans. Ultimo Guerrero and Dragon Rojo pantomiming what happened is far more interesting. UG's not buying Rojo's story. Dragon Rojo did screw up, but Ultimo Guerrero was the one who cost them the match. Commissioner – looks like Gustavo – hands the belts over to he new champs.

CMLL Cartela Tuesday: Pólvora, Niebla Roja, Ultimo Guerrero vs Diamante, Titan, la Sombra

and Friday: CMLL Universal “the most exclusive tournament” - I dunno, 16 guys are in, about the same as every tournament you run. Also, the footage they use includes a lot of guys who are not in this tournament and no mention of who actually is.

Match 2: Ángel de Oro, Místico ©, Valiente vs Ephesto, Euforia, Mephisto ©
Arena Mexico, 08/03/2012

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:41
Rating: good
Notes: Clipped entrances. Mephisto has a sword. I haven't seen Perro's sword lately, HMMM. Mistico's goes a little bit longer, and they turn off the lights to put him in a spot light. Fireworks! Fray Tormenta . There is some negative hooting. Tormenta gives him a benediction. Loud Místico and “puto” response chant before the match starts. Referee is Terror Chino.

1: Valiente and Euforia start, trapping each other only briefly for pinfalls. Valiente tries for the multiple kip up armdrag, Euforia escapes that, Valiente still manages to monkey flip him seconds later. Oro & Ephesto are next, with a sunset flip reversal bit eventually leading to a big Ephesto clothesline. Ephesto takes his time to follow up with a splash, and Oro knees him on the way down. Headscissors sends Ephesto out and scrambling out of the way of any drive. Angel de Oro does a handstand pose, and then points to Místico to ask the crowd. Crowd noise picks up as he comes in. Mephisto in as well, wondering why they aren't cheering him. Místico goes around the ring, pointing at the crowd many times, before they look up. Mephisto knocks Místico down, Místico kip up armdrags him away and poses. Ephesto takes advantage to forearm and stomps Místico down from behind. Mephisto trips up Místico, but Místico comes back with a headscissors off the mat. Jumping snap mare, no, I guess it's into a weird headscissors that doesn't come off well. Místico keeps going, up the ropes for a headscissors. Mephisto is immediately up so they can do zero trips and a standoff. That was abrupt. Other rudos rush in, kicks Místico down, and clean of the apron. Triple Infernal bomb, Místico almost not turning over to get up enough but the rudos work it out. They stomp Místico and keep out the rudos for a while. Referee belatedly tries starts to cont. Angel de Oro rushes in to break it up, rudos throw him away, and the ref reaches 10.

Rudos press slam Místico out onto Valiente and Angel de Oro for good measure.

2: Rudos hold the ring. Mephisto sets Místico top and unties his mask. Mephisto almost accidentally pulls it all the way off before Místico can get a hand up to block it. Tree Of Woe kick to the chest. Replay. Mephisto rips up Mistico's mask next. I guess Mephisto liked the old guy better! Euforia take a turn to flapjack and dropkick Místico out. Seated dropkick off the apron for Angel de Oro. Backdrop for Valiente. Ephesto gives Valiente the shoulderbreaker, but allows him to roll out. Whip, triple boot to send Oro out, and rudos all pose. Tecnicos back in – Devil's Wings on Valiente, shoulderbreaker for Oro, that's the fall.

3: Mephisto goes back to bullyign Místico around. Whip, Místico headscissors Mephisto out and lands on his feet, then runs for at ope con giro on the rudo. Valiente in, missing a dropkick on Euforia. Euforia whips him back to the corner whip, Valiente flips him to the apron, Euforia slaps him back, Angel de Oro superkicks him over the corner. Ephesto in, Valiente runs the ropes, hops, and backdrops Ephesto. Valiente shoulderblocks Ephesto, flips off the top rope buckle, and headscissors Ephesto out. Valiente tease the dive, but just flip off the middle rope. Oro flipping run , roll to the apron, and he superkicks Mephisto again. Outside in moonsault for two. Loose headscissors sends Mephisto out. Angel de Oro rolls out, but slingshot back int o pose. Crowd booing now. Angel de Oro fires up the crowd for another Místico appearance. Euforia in. Plenty of booing, though really just a lot noise. Místico off ht ropes, flipping run, Euforia misses a dropkick, Euforia flips Místico to the apron, Místico battles back with kicks, and springboard in with a headscissors, again landing on his feet. Inside springboard to the floor into a tornillo on Euforia! That was pretty incredible. Místico goes back in to celebrate. Replay. Back live, Valiente drops Ephesto with this the layout front cracker for a pin.

Mephisto runs in for another one, but turns it around and gives Valiente one himself! One two three!

Oro in, but Euforia runs in and shoves Oro right out. Místico planchas both, they toss him, he lands on his feet. Mephsito tosses Místico up, Místico shoves and flipped off, Mephisto dropkick gets his partner instead. Místico flipped to the apron, forearming Mephisto away, backing up the apron, and running back with a springboard – slip, hitting the ropes on the way over. Místico rolls with it, and armdrags Mephisto right out. Springboard shooting star press to the floor! Mephisto and Angel de Oro in, Oro casadora mecedora, Mephisto gives.

Angel de Oro retrieves Místico to get his hand raised, and then carries him on his shoulders. You were the guy who actually won, dude.
