1: Pairs are Skándalo/Dragon Lee, Nitro/Cometa, Arkangel/Azteca

JCC asks Dragon Rojo who the better Dragon is. Dragon Rojo picks himself. Announcers talk about Nitro coming to Arena Mexico since he was just a kid. Dragon Rojo talks about himself and the Tuareg being together back in the Guerrero Pandilla days, but now Dragon Rojo is “otra mivel”. Arkangel chops Cometa for just standing too close to him, and Maya has to work hard to get Cometa to leave. Arkangel has a neat double wristlock headscissors, then they do dueling trapped in corner headscissors bit. Azteca slingshots armdrags Arkangel, then pops Skándalo on the apron. Skándalo rushes in as Azteca puts on a leg lock. Tuareg niftily evade each other on a whip spot, and take Azteca out with a inverted facelock/dropkick bit. Nitro in to help too, ducking under leapfrog and kicking Azteca down. Arkangel and Skándalo go back to the corner, but rush back in to boot Azteca at the first sign of trouble. Cometa rushes into to dropkick them, but misses, and the beatdown is on. Cometa lifted up to Arkangel on the middle rope, and powerbmbed/thrown off. Dragon Lee in and chopping everyone, but Nitro fells him with one good shot. Double back elbow, lift up, and Nitro lands the low blow missile dropkick. One two three. Skándalo Drive on Azteca

2: Rey Cometa is propelled out of the ring by a Skándalo low blow dropkick. Dragon Lee whipped into a corner kick, and Arkangel adds his low blow elbow drop. Cometa rolls under a double clothesline and dropkick Arkangel out Aztec and Dragon Lee in with springboard planchas – but Nitro catches Dragon Lee, and Azteca just misses. How odd, especially since the técnicos turn it around 2 seconds later. Dragon Lee back with a knees to the side shooting star press. Cometa gets Arkangel with a torito after the fact.

3: Dragon Lee flipping run is followed up by Dragon Lee hesitating on ducking under a clothesline. Dragon lee works over Arkangel with kicks in the corner, then tries chops. Arkangel turns him around, hammers him a bit, but Dragon Lee ducks out and chops him down. Corner whip, reversed, Dragon Lee runs up the ropes and flips out. Dragon Lee chops Arkangel way, Arkangel goes to far away, Dragon Lee bails on the springboard armdrag and just ends with another one. Dragon Lee chases Arkangel out. Nitro drops Cometa with the surprise clothesline. Cometa flips himself to the apron on a corner charge and gets in the tornillo armdrag. Back spin armdrag is a bit new. Cometa tease dive, but Nitro bails, and Cometa flips around the ring. Azteca in, rolling under a clothesline and an shoulderblocking Skándalo down. Whip, reversed, Azteca handspring, around to an armdrag. Skándalo chop blocked, wristlock, walk up the ropes, bounce spinning tornillo armdrag. Azteca escape a quebradora, Skándalo kicks him anyway, double underhook package piledriver! One two three. Yea, not kicking out of that one.

Dragon Lee in with a top rope armdrag. Kneelifts don't come close to Skándalo (which is tough), but Dragon Lee still is able to fireman drop Skándalo in the corner for Cometa's 450. Skándalo's done.

Arkangel in, ducking under a Dragon Lee clothesline and dropkicking Cometa out. Clothesline for Dragon Lee too. Azteca stares out at the crowd. Chop. Whip, Dragon lee springboard front flips out to the apron. Forearm for Arkangel,. Dragon Lee backs up runs again, springboard headscissors back in. Arkangel out, Dragon Lee runs up – the corner tope con giro! Cometa in with a plancha on Nitro. Off the ropes, torito – no, blocked, powerbomb, Nitro turns it into a crab, and Cometa gives.

Arkangel looks to be hurt after the match, grabbing his head.

Match 2: Fuego, Sagrado ©, Sangre Azteca vs Misterioso Jr. ©, Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis
Arena Mexico, 02/17/2012

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:51
Rating: good
Notes: Monito is out with Sagrado. If Vangelis is no longer a Nazi, he should get a cape and change his colors to complete the M. Bison look. Referee is Babe Richard.

1: Pairs are Fuego/Okumura, Sangre/Vangelis, and Sagrado/Misterioso. JCR and Dragon Rojo debate Dragon Rojo's exit from Poder Mexica. Sangre does trap Vangelis in a nice suspended bow and arrow, and some back mounted holds. Sagrado sends Misterioso out with a springboard headscissors, but Misterioso yanks him off the apron as he goes for an Asai. Sangre drops Okumura with a heel kick, Vangelis fails to elbow drop the right guy, Fuego springboard splashes both rudos, técnicos charge, right into the rudos finish. Misterioso adds a superkick to Fuego's German, for added pain.

Why are the técnico fans waving around a giant pair of trunks?

2: Rudos boot Sagrado. Corner charges for Fuego. Sangre is stomped by everyone. Double drop toe hold, dropkick to the backside, and lifted back first into the post. That leaves Okumura in alone Fuego rushes him, but Okumura trips him right out of the ring, and Vangelis knocks him the rest of the way out. Sagrado and Okumura chop it out, with Sagrado sneaking in a kick. Before the técnicos gets anymore, the cavalry arrives, Misterioso kicking Sagrado and posing. Whip, reversed, Sagrado quebradora! Misterioso sends Sagrado back to Okumura, Okumura send him out, and Vangelis nails the thru the rope spear. Fuego in and dropkick Misterioso, but Okumura backdrops him to the apron. This is not going well for the técnicos. Rudos take Sagrado to his stage, and Vangelis flips jacks him on the steps. Inside, Misterioso gives Sangre a flapjack and a kick to the face. Back on the ramp, Sagrado has somehow gotten loose – dive off the stage onto Vangelis. Fuego take out Vangelis, and Misterioso is lift along. He sets up Sangre up top, but Sangre shove him off – estacas azteca. (Dragon Rojo is sure this one is a foul.) One two three.

3: Fuego and Misterioso have a battle over slaps to the back. Fuego back bends under a clothesline, then flips over Misterioso's back for an armdrag. Vangelis drops Fuego with a very safe death valley driver. Sangre breaks that up and powerslams him. Okumura breaks that up, quebradora, quebradora, Sagrado runs in to break it up, and Misterioso just yanks down the middle rope so Sagrado goes tumbling! I guess Sangre kicked out anyway, not sure. Sangre flapjack, dropkick to the head. Misterioso and Sangre have a bit of a faceoff and a bit of a chat. Misterioso chop, Sangre recovers, Sangre chop. Misterioso of the ropes, sunset flip, Snag rolls thru, low blow dropkick, Fuego and Vangelis splash both, one two kickouts. Vangelis shoulderblocks Fuego, Sagrado kicks Vangelis, Okumura missile dropkicks Fuego. Okumura celebrates, Fuego sneaks in a cradle, one two three

Fuego clothesline misses, Sagrado wallops him with a clothesline. Pumphandle powerbomb one two three.

Sagrado springboard 'rana on Vangelis. Sagrado and Misterioso chop fight. Misterioso tells Sagrado to stop - why don't we dive instead? Sagrado falls for it, and Misterio hammer shim with a clothesline. Misterioso off the ropes, but Sangre trips him up. Sagrado dropkick to the face, and Misterio rolls out. Vangelis dropkicks Sagrado out, and Sangre comes in to face him. Stop to look around at the crowd. Monito telling him to go fight. Chop fight, Sangre taking the worst of it. Sangre off the ropes, headscissors reversed to face first powerbomb. Vangelis trying a tapatía? Vangelis pulls it off – no he does not, it fails, but they get to a double pin anyway. One two three. Uh, draw?

Both argue with Babe Richard. Babe Richard decides Misterioso and Sagrado must fight? That's not quite the rules, but apparently it is the rules. Sagrado casita, shoved off, Misterioso clothesline reverses into a torito one two NO. I think Sagrado thought that was three. Crowd getting into it. Misterioso corner whip, charge in, Sagrado set him up top. Don't go up! Sagrado swing kicks him. He goes up! Misterioso trips him up, Rosa Driver, one two three. Will these técnicos ever learn?
