Match 1: Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther ©, Metro vs Negro Casas ©, Pólvora, Rey Escorpion
Arena Mexico, 11/04/2011

  1. técnicos

  2. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 7:55
Rating: ok
Notes: Polvora's entrance is still the best part of Pólvora, and that's the despite the entrance video that's about two gimmicks ago. This is quite the random assortment of people – when did the Forjando un Idolo start again? Rudos get first entrance so Panther and company can jump Negro. Monito is with the técnicos, does not take part in the mudhole stomping. Ref is Terror negro, who doesn't even budge from the ring to get involved in all of this brawling.

1: Negro Casas is laid waste to outside, and the técnicos take care of the other two. Escorpion takes the corner charges, including a Angel de Oro handspring back elbow and Metro's usual rolling back press. Negro Casas is double suplexed in, Angel de Oro adds a quebrada for the likely pin, but Panther pulls him off. They probably should've discussed that before the match! Angel de Oro does not seem upset about it, and Panther slaps around Negro some more. Negro evades a Metro corner whip, and Pólvora pulls out the big man and slaps him around. Angel de Oro runs into a heel kick and gets backdropped out, and Negro attacks Panther with kicks. Pólvora posts Metro while angle de Oro and Escorpion mostly disappear. Panther blocks a kick and turns it into a dragon screw. Panther look outside – nothing he's going to find positive there – and goes back to grab Negro. Rey Escorpion resurfaces and slaps Panther. Escorpion tries a second, and that's enough for Panther to block him and put him in an elbow lock. Escorpion screams. Pólvora tries to make the save, but Metro walks up behind, grabs Pólvora in a waistlock, walks him around to get in position, and German suplexes him for the pin. Poor Escorpion's submission does never even seem to be acknowledged by the ref. Angel de Oro holds off Negro with a superkick and then slowly chases him out. Negro sits in the first row, so Angel de Oro stands over him on the arm rests and menaces him. The técnicos are not in a good mood tonight.

2: Panther's partners go back to their corners, but the rudos are laid out all around. Negro finally blocks a kick and gets out, and the ref prevents anyone else from getting involved. Panther and Negro walk around before getting back to the brawl. Panther again gets the better of Negro, smashing his face into all the turnbuckles. Panther backs up, charges, and Negro kicks him. Nero on top of him with punches. Snap mare, Panther up to the middle rope, flying headbutt misses. Battling for a tirabuzón, Rey Escorpion rushes in and kicks Panther, and both old men fall out. Angel de Oro, and Rey Escorpion slaps him down. Angle de Oro rip off his shirt and throws it at his own corner. Escorpion off the ropes, avoidance, and shoulderblock catches Angel de Oro by surprise. Whip, Angel de Oro flipping in, back with a back spin headscissors into an armdrag. Pólvora rushes in and clotheslines Pólvora as the announcer brings up the final of the Forjando un Idolo. Why hasn't Angel de Oro ever gotten a shot at Pólvora's title? Angel de Oro flips himself to the apron and superkicks Pólvora when he's caught in the ropes. Outside in quebrada, one two NO. Pólvora clothesline misses, Angel de Oro shoulderblock, springboard, Pólvora catches him with a counter dropkick. Pólvora celebrate,s but Oro rolls out and Metro is on. Avoidance, Pólvora headlock, Metro shots him off, Pólvora sunset flip, Metro roll thru, bounce off the rope, diving forearm. Rey Escorpion pulls Metro down from the outside, but gets kicked way of the apron. Negro is impressed with how far Rey Escorpion went on that one, by his look. Super armdrag for Pólvora. Monkey flip sends Pólvora corner to corner. Back the other way - no, Negro drops Metro with a shot to the chest. Negro in and kick Metro around. Whip, clothesline misses, Metro just gets to Pólvora on a tope. Panther in, Negro on him with chops and punches , Panther flips,Negro the apron and snap his neck off the apron. Rey Escorpion and and kicks panther down. Angel de Oro after him, springboard headscissors, cartwheel moonsault to the floor connects. Back to the captains. Chop fight, Negro with kick and shove, clothesline, clothesline – no, panther ducks under. Negro grabs the ref, spins him round, but it's Panther who sneaks in the low blow heel kick. Panther covers, one two three.

Match 2: Máscara Dorada vs Mephisto for the CMLL World Welterweight Championship
Arena Mexico, 11/04/2011

  1. Mephisto powerbomb (2:13)

  2. Mascara Dorada ranita (1:46)
  3. Mascara Dorada armbar (17:19)

Winner: Mascara Dorada
Match Time: 21:18
Rating: excellent!
Notes: Seconds are Kahoz (in a Mephisto mask and Diablo Rojo jersey) and Dragon Lee. Ref is Babe Richard. Rambo is commissioner.

1: Early exchange of basic headlocks and armbars. They're off the ropes quick evasive until Dorada can get in an armdrag. Mephisto flips Dorada to the apron, and drops him with a clothesline. No hurry, but then a baseball slide than comes up empty. Mephisto takes himself to the floor and Dorada follows with a headscissors of the apron. Maybe I should count those. There's bound to be a few. Back inside, some video problems speed us thru the end of the first fall, but it appears Dorada lands a springboard plancha and goes for Toyota roll, only for Mephisto to block it and powerbomb him for the pin.

2: Dorada rushes Mephisto in the corner, comes up empty. Mephisto kicks him in the back as he rebounds out. Whip, flapjack, kick to the face. That's beat Dorada, so I guess its' why babe Richard is so concerned. One arm drop! Two arm drop! Three arm – Dorada holds it up, Babe Richard pats him on the shoulder to count it, and Dorada drops the arm. I guess that still count! Hey, Mephisto, you interested in beating this man up? Corner whip, Dorada evades the charge, flips off Mephisto's chest – the recuperative powers of this young man! - ducks a clothesline, lands a shoulderblock and walks up the ropes while turning around for a springboard headscissors. Dorada off the ropes, and back for a slingshot turning plancha – that was actually like a bigger pescado, I guess. Dorada shoves a guy on his landing; fan was fleeing his seat, but not fast enough. Replays. Balk live, Dorada kicks Mephisto away from the apron, springboard flip into a Toyota roll, one two three. JCR said “La Ranita! La Ranita! La Ranita!” so I'm thinking it might be a La Ranita.

3: Probably a longer fall? Probably. Dorada flipping run very quick, and a headscissors sens Mephisto the corner. Dorada charges in, Mephisto tosses him behind, Dorada bounces off the middle rope into a push off headscissors. Mephisto out, Dorada runs – tope con giro wipes out Mephisto. Replays. Mascara Dorada circles around the other side to come in. Mephisto in, waving Dorada by, Dorada back with a 'rana, one two NO. Dorada up to Mephisto's shoulder, barely, headscissors, one two NO. Dorada casadora, but Mephisto crawls away before Dorada can lock on whatever he was going for. Mascara Dorada waits for Mephisto to get up,waits for him to charge, and flips him to the apron, and runs off the far ropes – right into a dropkick, flipping Dorada spectacularly to the floor. Dorada looks up while recovering. He's expecting something for Mephisto – Mephisto Asai moonsault! Can't remember the last time he did that one. It wasn't quite Angel de Oro level, but it got the job done. Replays, and then Mephisto back in. Dorada springboard plancha, Mephisto rolls thru, one two NO. Mascara Dorada very effortless clotheslien is grabbed by Mephisto and turned it a pumphandle front slam. One two NO. We're in dramatic slow count territory. Corner whip, Mephisto charges in, Dorada flips him to the apron and back elbows him off. Dorada up top - setting his feet – walking the top rope! And off with a springboard moonsault onto Mephisto. Dive connected well, but Dorada is down grabbing his knee. Dorada crawls in, Mephisto behind him – there's the cavernaria spot so we know its' a CMLL singles match. Dorada breaks free. Both guys very tired. Seems a bit early for that, but they've gotten the dives in so it is this time. Mephisto makes the first move, pulling Dorada in a Gori special. Dorada waves his head no and yes and no and yes but ends up not giving, reversing into a rana one two NO. Mephisto kicks Dorada away, then charges, and Dorada plans him on the top rope. Dorada slaps him once, climbs up facing out – then walks the ropes and pulls Mephisto off with a headscissors, one two NO. Dorada has all sorts of rope walking tricks he's just been waiting for the right moment to break out, I see. This does seem like the right moment. Dorada of the apron, charge, Mephisto drops down and Dorada rolls himself all the way top the ramp. Running back – floating headscissors grabs Mephisto and sends him out. Dorada dive #4? Super slingshot great tornillo, whoa. I was sure that was going to be the Brillo Dorada, and then he breaks out dives you don't even he has. Replays – 1.5 spins on that one, very tight. Back live, Mephisto, Dorada on the apron, springboard sunset flip, Mephisto rolls thru and blows up Dorada with a dropkick. One two NO. Mephisto slams Dorada and heads to the corner. This seems unwise, but he manages the Asia earlier. Mephisto taking his time going up – top rope senton con giro comes up empty. Dorada turns and falls on top, one two NO. Dorada drags Mephisto a bit and points to the corner. Is he going up? Dorada solicits the crowd. Don't ask Dragon Rojo, he's probably not good with when not to do this. Middle buckle moonsault, one two NO. Dorada's hair is spilling out of the bottom of his mask. Dorada brings Mephisto closer to the corner, then backs up the other corner – Dorada runs back to the Mephisto corner, headstand of the second rope into a standing position on the top rope, then spins back like a rope flip moonsault – just so Mephisto can get his feet up and kill him. Dorada is ridiculous, not that it helped him there. Mephisto covers, one two NO. Dorada looking in better shape of the two, the first to his feet. He waits for Mephisto to charge him, and then tosses him to the ramp. Mephisto tries to battle in, and takes a knee to the head. Dorada slingshots over Mephisto and to the ramp, then backs up a few steps. Running flipping run on the ramp, under a clothesline, Mephisto charges and takes the big hiptoss in. Dorada a bit gassed aright now. Springboard 'rana turned into a powerbomb one two NO. Mephisto's strategy appears to just wait for Dorada to do something just stupid enough to be killed for. Dorada backs up to the corner, Mephisto charges, Dorada flips him to the apron and clotheslines him down. Dorada climbs to top rope – senton con giro to the apron misses! Mascara Dorada is both insane and broke in half, Mephisto rolled in time. Mephisto drags Dorada way from the ropes one two NO. Bucanero explains how much that totally hurt. I have no doubt. Here's a replay, which is unnecessarily since I've just rewound and watched that eight times. Devil's Wings! One two foot on the ropes! Bad, bad positioning by Mephisto there. He had 'em. Mephisto is hurting, and slow to recover. Grabbing his left arm before following up. Corner whip, Mephisto plants Dorada on the top rope. Top rope Gori Special, reversed into a hurracarrana, of course. Dorada can't hold the cradle but lands on top, one two NO. Crowd loud behind Mascara. Corner whip, Dorada charges, Mephisto sets him up top. Valagueza! Mephisto carries him into the corner of the ring, and snap the neck one two NO. Announcers are unsure about the count. Both up, Mephisto drop toe hold, casita, no, Dorada rolls thru, casita of his own is a bit messy one two NO. Dorada clothesline misses, Mephisto reverses into a arm scissors. Dorada pounds the mat, but waves his finger no. Mephisto trying to stretch the arm out – but Dorada turns it and gets to the bottom rope. Both guys winded. Both up, Mephisto clothesline misses, Dorada hits his clothesline, but Mephisto isn't going down. Mephisto tells him to bring it. Off the ropes, clothesline blocked, Mephisto standing crucifix, Dorada tires to block it, but Mephisto brings him down hard. One two NO. Mephisto sits up, Dorada cradles him one two NO! Mascara Dorada off the ropes running spinning armdrag bit doesn't go well but headscissors works. Dorada springboard reverses tope meets dropkick, but Mephisto is hurting too much to cover. Now leaping on top, one two NO. Mephisto grabs Dorada. Corner whip, reversed, Mephisto flips himself to the apron and slaps Dorada away. Mephisto up top, Dorada jumps to the top rope to join him, both grapple there, Mephisto slaps Dorada and jabs him in the side. One arm hooked the other arm – Dorada blocks, but Mephisto grabs it – off the top rope Devil's Wings! One two th-NO! What will it take? Dorada can't believe that's not three. Dorada of the ropes, bad camera switch, rolling front leg sweep into a armbar – Mephisto fights – and gives! Dorada survives.

Mixed reaction. Crowd noise seems to be turned down as Dorada gets his belt. Dorada almost trips over himself when he turns and sees an edecan in there; they appear to be handing out (typically tiny) trophies with belt defenses, as they do in Japan. As they do in the REINA pictures they probably saw. I would guess. Mephisto and Dorada shake hands and Mephisto raises Dorada's arm and puts the belt on him.
