Arena Mexico, 07/29/2011

  1. técnicos
  2. rudos
  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 19:08
Rating: good
Notes: Entrances. Pequeño Violencia’s video is from a time when he was much more of a Boricua. Rudos are mislabeled in the team graphic. Oh well. Ref is Bestia Negra.

1: Rey Bucanero is announcing this show TOO. Other announcers are JCC and JCR. Olímpico & Shockercito are even on the mat, then Dorada gets the better of Violencia until Violencia just doesn’t go with him on a springboard armdrag. Dorada rallies to headscissors him out. Mini Máximo and Warrior end up together once again. Warrior back elbows Mini Máximo repeatedly close to the ropes, so Máximo just keeps bouncing back off right into the elbow. After about three of these, Warrior grabs him for a quick dance, and then punches Máximo in the face. That was something. Mini Máximo is very elusive on Warrior corner charges, and sends Warrior out with a sloppy headscissors. Warrior ducks down to avoid the dive, and turns right into the tongue kiss. Warrior spits and cleans his mouth and gets toped by Máximo, throws his body into the fans in the process. Other técnicos clean up in the ring, Shockercito taking a bit longer.

2: Shockercito sends Olímpico into the ropes with a spiffy headscissors, then kicks him free from there. Mini Máximo does a bottom rope backflip armdrag on Violencia, then a bottom rope springboard one. Mini Máximo blocks everything to set up the kiss, Violencia gets in a unblocked kick (!), backs up, charges, and misses a dropkick on the way to the floor. Máximo with the fake dive modeling pose, and they’re done. Captains in. Warrior wants a handshake, Dorada thanks to long think about it and gets slapped. Stunner. Dropkick to send him out. Shockercito in, Warrior again asking for a handshake. This time, it’s just a setup so Olímpico can broadside him. Violencia is content just watching from the apron for a while. Rudos triple team Dorada, leading to a double hiptoss into up raised feet. Mini Máximo stomped (or foot are kicked in his general direction and he moves really soon. Violencia gives him a behind the back faceslam into Warrior’s feet. Rudos find the most complicated method to have Olímpico splash Shockercito, only for Violencia to flip Shockercito right back to his feet. Dropkick sends Shockercito out. Dorada kicked about the head. Warrior holds him upside down, dropkicks from both sides of the head, triple dropkick to the head, triple dropkick to the head, triple dropkick to the head a third time. That’ll do it.

3: I’m thrown by the card girl wearing pants. The tightest pants imaginable, but still relatively modest for them. Dorada’s tossed at her feet, and then tossed into the side of the steps. He’s grabbing his wrist after. Warrior bowls him back towards the ring. Rudos really taking it to the técnicos. It’s all brawling to start this fall but the técnicos are getting well crushed. Corner charges for Shockercito, ending with an Olímpico slap. Dorada held and slapped around. Unmasked rudos load up for a double boot, but Dorada moves and Olímpico’s kicked out. Corner whip for Dorada, Violencia misses the dropkick and bounces off the corner. Warrior charges, Dorada shoves Violencia in the way, and Warrior somehow headscissors his own partner! Dorada gets Warrior in a headlock, jumping snap mare is blocked, Warrior shot off, and back with a driving clothesline. Warrior mocks the chants. Corner whip – no, Warrior gives him a knee instead. Corner whip, Dorada hops to the apron to escape the charge, then triple springboards for a – well, it wasn’t supposed to be a shoulderblock but he turned it into one when he had to. Dorada grabs Warrior by the hair as they talk. Whip, reverse, Dorada back with a two rotation headscissors, where Warrior seem to be losing it half way. Warrior out, Dorada up – but Olímpico crotches him and pulls him in the Three of Wee. Corner dropkick is close to a low blow. Olímpico pulls Dorada to the center of the ring and covers, one two Máximo crawls over and disgusts Olímpico. Máximo headscissors, backdrop for Olímpico, and Mini Máximo goes up. Máximo stops to salute, do a hip swivel dance, and fall of for a splash one two Violencia breaks it up. Corner whip, Violencia dropkick, Mini Máximo bounces out into a reveres neckbreaker one two Shockercito breaks it up. Spinning fisherman’s suplex one tow Warrior beaks I up with a flying elbow drop. Warrior yells, yet again. Whip, Warrior kicks Shockercito, lifts him up, and runs – it’s time for the corner powerbomb. I can’t believe they do that every match, but they do. Warrior sits on the middle rope or something, but Dorada pulls him off with a springboard armdrag. Dorada headscissors sends Warrior, and Dorada isn’t getting cut of this time – thru the ropes tope, Warrior catches him on his shoulders, and Dorada spins thru for an armdrag escape. Olímpico misses a charge on Shockercito, Shocker off the ropes three, four times, and finally with a flipping armdrag. Out goes Olímpico, here comes Shockercito with a tope to send him jumping into the second rope. Máximo headscissors sends Violencia out, Máximo hops to the apron, Violencia grabs him, Mini Máximo backs him off with his backside, Asai moonsault almost over shoos Violencia. Captains back inside. Dorada with a flying headscissors on Warrior, but Warrior boots him down. Shockercito in, kicking Warrior down on the run. Double while whip Mini Máximo. Shockercito catapult, Máximo kiss, and Dorada guillotine legdrop. Técnicos pose on top for the pin, one two three.

Match 2: Amapola vs Estrellita for the CMLL World Women's Championship
Arena Mexico, 07/29/2011

  1. Estrellita cradle (3:11)
  2. Amapola Devil’s Wings (1:20)
  3. Amapola backcracker (4:48)

Winner: Amapola (2-1)
Match Time: 9:19
Rating: good!
Notes: Estrellita is dressed as Red Riding Hood, complete with a basket to hand out treats to the kids. That’s a way to get yourself over as a técnica. Starman is her second. Amapola has the black flow headpiece thing going. Disturbio is her second and very excited to be associated with something besides an opening match. I like how the Women’s belt still has the old Canada flag on it (which was old when this belt was made.) At least there’s one of these belts with that. Tigre Hispano is ref.

1: Amapola offers a handshake before the match. Estrellita tentatively excepts, and no one turns on each other. Chain wrestling to start which involves Estrellita yelling a lot. Bucanero is rooting for Estrellita. Lots of battling over armbars. Test of strength is equal, until Amapola just breaks an arm hold, trips it up, and holds Estrellita down. Amapola stands up, forces Estrellita down, but Estrellita sends her away to the ropes with an armdrag. Estrellita looking encouraged. Armbar, Estrellita short clothesline misses, both off the ropes, Estrellita casadora, she rolls thru, trips Amapola’s right arm underneath her own right leg while standing over both of them, then rolls Amapola onto her back, one two three. I have no idea that what was! It looked like it was exactly what Estrellita intended it to be, no screwed up, but I can’t recall seeing that cradle before. Estrellita and Starman celebrate like she already won the title, while Amapola and Disturbio are pretty well shocked.

2: Off the ropes avoidance leads to an Estrellita clothesline. Corner whip, reversed, Estrellita walks up the ropes armdrag. Headscissors just gets enough of Amapola to send her out. Estrellita teases a dive and does a dance move instead. She’s fired up anyway. Amapola wants the camera out of her face. Amapola back in, Estrellita charges, Amapola moves out of the way, sets Estrellita on the middle rope, and yanks her down by her hair. Devil’s Wings, one two three. That didn’t take long. Amapola is so proud of herself. Disturbio only slightly less so.

3: Estrellita knocks Amapola down, off the ropes, and tripped into the opposite side ropes. Running sit to the back, check, one two NO. Amapola stomps Estrellita, off the ropes, into a bad side slam, one two NO. Estrellita picks up Amapola, Amapola sings, Estrellita ducks under and turns it into a backside, one two no. Casadora cradle has some issues, and then there’s a short interruption. It was not the finish. Back, and Estrellita’s runs right into an Amapola short powerbomb. One two NO. Crowd into this. Corner whip, Amapola charges, Esterllita moves and Amapola hits the post. Estrellita out it the ramp, backing up, charging, and landing a running elbow smash plancha. Nice! Both back in, Estrellita misses a dropkick. Corner whip, reversed, Amapola to the second rope, Estrellita slaps her and goes up. Top rope ‘rana (a good one!) one two th-NO. Crowd is awful loud for no one on screen reacting. But this had been a good match. Estrellita climbs up, but Amapola meets her there. One foot on the top rope superplex! Amapola posing and pinning one two NO. Amapola freaks out a bit on that one. Amapola picks her back up. Suplex – no, small package, one two NO. Both up, clotheslines kind of hit each other as they run past. They’re both confused for a sec, then Estrellita turns around and slaps Amapola. Whip, reversed, Estrellita casadora, but Amapola squirms away. Estrellita clothesline misses, Amapola grabs her from the back of the neck for a moment, backcracker, one two three.

Amapola (and Disturbio) celebrate. Champ gets her belt back. Estrellita is down and not getting up after the finish. Amapola is not so concerned. Strecher ride is shown after some replay.
