CMLL on Teleformula #49 (05/29/2011)
Recapped: 05/29/11

Announcers are Rey, JCR and Felino, who are back to calling GDL matches. This show, I dunno. Of all the shows to go back to GDL for...

Match 1: Delta ©, Gallo, Stuka Jr. vs Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis ©, Virus
Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, 04/12/2011

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. técnicos

Winner: Gallo (2-1)
Match Time: 17:27
Rating: not good
Notes: Odd picks for captains. Refs are Samurai and a new guy.

1: Opening battles go Okumura/Stuka, Gallo/Vangelis, Virus/Delta. Felino is still not a fan of Gallo, but he and Vangelis are the most adventurous. Virus/Delta seems the most basic, finishing with Delta sending Virus out with a headscissors. Rudos immediately storm the ring, lay out Delta, and take care the other two.

2: Beatdown. Nothing special. Gallo ducks a double clothesline and headscissors Vangelis out, which is not the most graceful looking sequence. Gallo ducks another clothesline to tope Vangelis, and the announcers go wild. Stuka plancha Virus, Okumura fails to break it up, Delta jumps from the wrong corner and has to turn in mid air to land a plancha (no luck, good job of hiding it), both técnicos fight to win with small packages. That was not good.

3: Virus falls all over the place for Gallo. Delta takes care of both Virus and Vangelis, chasing the Nazi into the crowd. Stuka gets in a top rope twisting armdrag on Okumura. Virus nearly meets him on a counter rollup, then the two kind of run into each other. Stuka ends up deciding to slam Virus, cuts his throat as if he's going up, circles back to put on a leg lock, and is of course cradled for three.

Gallo immediately makes Virus tap out, which should be a bigger deal but we're moving right on.

Okumura missile dropkicks Gallo out, Delta flying armdrags Okumura out, and follows with a tope con giro. Back to Gallo and Vangelis, shoulders are exchanged, Gallo trips Vangelis into the ropes and takes him of with a bad backcracker. One two three. Win for Gallo!

Match 2: Máximo & Rush vs Héctor Garza & Volador Jr.
Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, 04/12/2011

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:49
Rating: lame
Notes: I did miss that one edecan. Rush is in full heel mode. Maximo's hair is still short. Ref is Loco Estrada. Crowd looks awful.

1: Garza powers Máximo down with a double wristlock, but Máximo still somehow manages to turn it into a kiss. Máximo keeps it up, and Garza walks out. Volador breaks out the testicular claw again on Máximo. Rush finally gets in, but Volador punches him down, so I guess that's the beatdown. These rudos are in no hurry, of course. Garza does manage to get his trunks almost pulled down in the corner, so check that off the list. Garza kick to the midsection does set up Volador's backcracker. Garza easily full nelsons Máximo, dragging him into the ropes for Volador's guillotine legdrop. That's the fall.

2: Rudos technically still in control, though Garza is too busy staring at the crowd to save Volador at first. Rush side steps a corner charge, almost slips while superkicking him, ducks a Garza charge, and stands there while Máximo headscissors Garza. Rush back suplexes Volador, double stomps him, and then yells at the referee in the time it takes Máximo to get a casadora cradle.

3: General clowning around. Highlight is Rush vs Garza is Volador not even bothering to go onto the apron, just standing in the corner to wait his turn. And his turn doesn't last long. Rush ends up with a tope on Garza, Máximo kisses Volador, Volador fouls Máximo, that's the match.
