Match 1: Fuego, Metro, Sagrado © vs Dr. X, Shigeo Okumura ©, Yoshihashi
Arena Mexico, 03/13/2011

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos
Match Time: 11:08
Rating: good
Notes: Maya is referee.

1: Pairs are Metro/Yoshihashi, Sagrado/Okumura (lasts about 10 seconds until Okumura gets annoyed about being slapped around and walks out), Fuego/Dr. X. Okumura comes back in to run thru all the rudos in turn, but goes for an Asai and gets dropkicked by Okumura. Rudos instantly win: Michinoku Driver/senton con giro on Fuego to take him out, easier hold for Dr. X.

2: holding and hitting beatdown. Fall graphic comes in right before the Sagrado evades a corner charge to start the comeback. After Fuego takes care of people, Sagrado lands a tope on Okumura. I think Fuego tries his usual submission on Yoshihashi, but it's a massive struggle for whatever it is. Metro has much less problem with his hold.

3: Yoshihashi/Metro chop exchange includes Yoshihashi throwing some good chops! Metro hits him harder. Metro has a fine quebradora con giro. Rolling back press is on target. Okumura can't budge Metro, but Metro can give Okumura a giant plancha. Sagrada rips Okumura's shirt to shreds before chopping him. Okumura comes back with a clothesline, but Sagrado drops him with a quebradora and holds him in a submission. Yoshihashi is a little late breaking it up, and everyone's kind of a little bit wandering around for a moment trying to figure out who should be in. It ends up being Metro and Dr. X and a kick spot that doesn’t go well. Yoshihashi manages to dump Metro, only to get sent out by Fuego, and Fuego follows with a plancha as Metro does his ramp apron dive. Captains left in, Sagrado leans away from a corner charge, lands a plancha, fireman's drop Okumura in front of the corner, and lands the springboard moonsault. One two three.

Match 2: Mephisto vs La Sombra for the NWA World Welterweight Championship
Arena Mexico, 03/13/2011

  1. Sombra rope flip tornillo moonsault (5:34)

  2. Mephisto double powerbomb (2:12)
  3. Sombra springboard flip 'rana (12:04)

Winner: Sombra (2-1)
Match Time: 19:59
Rating: good
Notes: Does Sombra's shirt have two different 3M ads on it? I hope he gets a cut of this. I mean, that would make sense, but I'm pretty sure everyone here gets paid in gruel. The real reason Místico went to CMLL is for the catering, don’t you know. The new NWA belts look fine, but I'm not going to get over the old ones not being around for quite some time. No seconds? No weight announcements, sparing us the mirth of Mephisto's total fake weight. Maya is referee.

1: Both eye each other to start and take turns diving in for takedowns. No luck on that, no luck on the first lockup. Announcers bring up Mephisto winning the title from Sombra in the first place, with JCR coming as close to saying “because we need more people for the first Universal Tournament” as they're allowed to say. Sombra gets a headlock, which leads to a trade of holds to no gain. Next exchange leads to a lengthy attempt at a cross armbreaker, but Mephisto holds off the challenger. Ah, seconds are Averno and Sagrado. Action speeds up and Sombra gets a brief cradle, but neither man can get anything logged in. Cameras find fans of both guys in the crowd. Mephisto locks on an armscisssors, Sombra forces Mephisto into a pin, Mephisto cinches up on the hold. Rings of Mephisto,, but Mephisto can't get a good grip on it. Sombra eventually reverses into a pin to escape, but is up holding his left elbow. That's what was hurting last wee, that's what Mephisto is going after. Lockup, Sombra goes after Mephisto's right arm in revenge, Mephisto waistlock him from underneath, bridge up spot, Mephisto over with a sunset flip, one two kickout.

Good shot of the elbow pad Sombra's wearing, not one he usually does. Mephisto sent in the ropes, and back with a big shoulderblock. Mephisto waits for Sombra to get moving before he gets moving himself, and avoids a Sombra dropkick. Mephisto is proud of himself, but not following up. Sombra slaps Mephisto, wristlock, up the ropes, and off with a rope flip headscissors. (Boos.) Sombra clothesline misses, Mephisto's kick, Devil's Wings, Sombra slips out before he can get lifted up, fireman's carry drop in front of the corner, rope flip tornillo moonsault one two three.

2: Sombra is down and grabbing his arm as we pick up. Think we might have missed something. Mephisto trips the elbow pad, and yanks Sombra's arm around the top rope. Sombra bends over in pain, so Mephisto switches to the middle rope. Whip, Sombra off the ropes, waved, by, under a clothesline, and back with a headscissors. Mephisto out, Sombra slide out after him, Mephisto rushes in and kicks Sombra as he tries to crawl in. Mephisto in no hurry, off the ropes and cut down by a Sombra springboard dropkick. Sombra out the other way – tope con giro! Plenty of replays. Mephisto rolls in first. Sombra off the apron, springboard 'rana dropped into a powerbomb, and up again for a second powerbomb, one two three.

I don't know what's going on with Averno's shirt, but it's not good.

3: My video seems to be joined in progress in this fall, though that seems to be a recording issue. Mephisto goes for a leg lock, but Sombra cradles him for two. Fall feels like it's been going on for a while, but that may just be the usual style. Both guys slow up, Sombra apparently worn down by arguing the count. Mephisto clothesline misses, and Sombra slides him out on his chest. Mephisto backs in the corner, Sombra charges across the ring, springboard moonsault to the floor. Sombra bounces into about the second row on that, next to some roses. (??) Sombra makes it back in first, Mephisto sneaks in behind him. Cavernaria! I hoped Dragon Rojo put an end to that in every single match. This one doesn’t last long. Crowd is loud, with a lout of distinct voices. They keep showing and mentioning Vicki Palacios, so I'll write her name here. Sombra charges Mephisto in the corner, Mephisto plants him on the top turnbuckle and slaps him one. Valagueza? Yes., Mephisto moves to the middle of the ring and drops the hammer. One two NO. Crowd now behind Sombra, louder than they were against him before. Devil's Wings, no, Sombra revers into a double arm suplex, one two NO. Sombra's hand whacked Maya's in the face on the kickout, oops. Sombra got his elbow pad between falls. Sombra tries to get up, but falls down. Both up. Sombra forearms, shoulderblock, run up the corner, slipping, and Mephisto crotches him. Mephisto climbs up with Sombra. This seems like an bad idea. Middle rope crucifix powerbomb – actually works! That move never actually works! One two th-NO. I guess it didn't totally work. Averno can't stand it. Crowd loud. Mephisto slams Sombra in the middle of the ring. Out to the apron, very slowly. Mephisto thinking about going up, thinking about it, climbing up – top rope senton con giro, no one home! Sombra crawls on top, hooks a leg one two NO. Crowd is getting into every near fall more than you'd think. Sombra sets Mephisto in the center of the ring, crosses himself, sets up near the ropes (boos), springboard backflip into a moonsault meets knees. One two – hand on the ropes. Mephisto tries Devil's Wings a third time, but Sombra reverses it into a 'rana this tone, one two th-NO. Mephisto should keep trying that, Sombra's bound to run out of ways to turn it in his favor at some point. Mephisto up first. Sombra thrown into the ropes, but is too tired to do Spider-Man hang. Mephisto still charges, and Sombra still drops down to cause Mephisto to go out. Kick keeps Mephisto out.

Boos as Sombra sets up for a dive – Asai reverse tope con giro! Mephisto doesn't as much catch it as get obliterated by it. They landed with a thunk, and Sagrado and the Doctor are both concerned. Sagrado slaps Sombra about the face to see if he's alive. Replay – oh, Mephisto mostly missed the catch. That's never good.

Both back in after the replay. Seconds yelling for their men. Averno tries to start a Mephisto chant. Sagrado strikes first, dumping Mephisto in the corner. Heading up. Rope flip tornillo meets knees! Mephisto covers, one two NO. Devils' Wings – and it HITS! He's done it! One two th-NO. Okay, he hasn't done it. Devils' wings again! Mephisto covers one two th-NO! Averno can't believe it. Mephisto can't believe it. Mephisto probably should try another move. Sombra tosses off his elbow pad, but he can barely get to his feet. Mephisto rips him up, casita, Sombra rolls thru, Sombra casita, one two th-NO. Crowd thought that was it. Both slow up again. Sombra off the ropes, Mephisto flips him to the apron, Sombra forearms him back from there, springboard flip 'rana one two three!

Sombra strips off his shirt in exhaustion. Sagrado carries him around the ring. Handshake after the match, though Sombra's arm is still bugging him. Mephisto puts the belt on the champion.
