Match 1: Héctor Garza, Místico, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero
Arena Mexico, 12/04/2009

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos shown
Match Time: 9:13 shown
Rating: fun for what we saw
Notes: 1: Oddly, at least with the YouTube clip I'm watching, this segments starts with the rudos celebrating for having won the first fall. For the Guerreros, that means getting their hands raised. For Niebla, that means sending Strong Man into the seats and slapping and poking him in the eye repeatedly. Replays of the finish – UG gets Místico in the Guerrero submission special, and Atlantis gets a crab. Both are effective.

Alfonso, Leonardo, and Miguel discuss at the announce desk, as the crowd serenades the rudos.

And NOW the open? Maybe nothing was clipped. They hype the top 3.

Místico hypes the 12/11 show.

2: Rudos in control. Atlantis gives Místico a spinning backbreaker. The rudos have more problems with Místico, who just shoves them away when they try to keep him in the corners. Guerreros get it together and double suplex Strongman in the middle of the ring, and Niebla surprises him with a senton. Stomps. Announcers hype the Arena Coliseo show for tomorrow. Garza in and charging UG, but attacked from behind by the other two. Corner whip, Hector leaps to the top rope and flips out of the corner, then rolls – straight to UG, who grabs him. The other two add forearms. One more try on that whip, but now Strong Man is in and backdropping Garza over, then clotheslines Niebla & Atlantis. UG ducks his, about Místico gets him with a springboard headscissors. Announcers are almost downed out by the boos, though Místico receives some cheers on his tope. Garza corner whipped yet again, but he kicks the rudos away. Strong Man up top – Strong man plancha! Místico and Garza help cover, and get the pin.

Between falls, Riano goes ringside to yell a lot. Look, Atlantis has a sign.

Look, that person won a prize, and Mr. Niebla is there to be Mr. Niebla. Does Ultimo Guerrero know Mr. Niebla thinks he's the #1 rudo in CMLL? Wow, a Mr. Niebla shirt – which she already has, - a Mr. Niebla mask, and a Sagrado backpack. A Sagrado backpack?!?!

This week, it's Volador Jr.'s to turn for the contest, but this is just the tease for it.

3: Both sides in their corner,s and none of the rudos in a big hurry here. Mostly because it's Strong Man in. Mr. Niebla asks the crowd for support before he tries this. Chest slap, no effect. Chop. No effect. Chop, no effect. Niebla keeps on chopping, and it works a little bit, but then Strong Man roars and Niebla begs off. Strong Man backs him into the corner, rips off his shirt (pop?) and chops him so hard, Niebla loses his shirt. ROAR. Chop. Strong Man asks the crowd for one more, and does it. Corner whip, Strong Man walks across the ring – no running! - and does another chop. The chops are loud, I'll give him that. Announcers promoting a GDL show. Corner whip, and this time Niebla goes in chest first, then false down. Strong Man to the middle rope to pose. Some boots. Weak pump splash. Atlantis and UG come in to break it up, but then back off when Strong Man spots him. Atlantis asks for a timeout. Promo for the next match in the lower third of the screen, while Strong Man clothesline the other two down. Rudos try shoulderblocks, which knocks Strong Man into the ropes - and he comes back with a big double clothesline to knock them down. Rudos regroup on the outside. Místico and Ultimo Guerrero now. Did UG change masks? I must've not noticed it was the split mask before. Corner pose off doesn't work so well when the rudos are getting cheered. Místico flipping run, waved by, and back with a headscissors. Atlantis in, cutting Místico off from a dive, though Atlantis seems more upset that Místico stopped. Weak Místico chant. Místico headscissors sends Atlantis to the ropes. Atlantis tosses him tot he apron, but Místico fights back with swinging kick. Springboard headscissors sends Atlantis out. Niebla in, and clothesline Místico by surprise. Niebla shakes. Niebla mocks the non-existent Místico chant, and Garza comes over to the corner where Místico's laying to lead the chant. Niebla slaps Místico on alternating sides of the face, knocking him down in the corner. Niebla dance! As they show the match from the far crane cam, Místico ends up on the apron, but comes back with a swinging kick, the second time they've done that spot in two minutes. Tag out to Garza, who gets back elbowed down immediately by Guerrero. High ten for Atlantis. Whip, Garza over, under, under a clothesline, and stop sign so he can take off his shirt. Garza flings his hair before doing it. UG kicks the shirt out, Garza loudly kicks him in the hamstring. Atlantis bumrushes Garza, with Niebla helping. Corner whip, Garza flip out over Atlantis, Niebla grabs him - this is also familiar – and Atlantis dropkick accidentally gets his partner. Garza charges Atlantis, Atlantis flips him to the apron, Garza slaps him away, then drops down onto Niebla with a moonsault from the corner. Strong Man in, and none of Atlantis' slaps work. Strong Man blocks one, roars, kicks Atlantis and lifts him up into a torture rack. UG observers, then tries kicking Strong Man to break it up. That doesn't work, and Místico cuts UG off with a plancha. La Mistica there, fallways slam on Atlantis, that's the match.

Replays. Tony's cartoon is – a lot of Místico drawings. Riano asks the fans what they think. Lineup hype.

Máximo tries on many wigs, then hypes the 12/11 show.

Match 2: La Sombra & Volador Jr. vs Ephesto & Mephisto for the CMLL World Tag Team Championship
Arena Mexico, 12/04/2009

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 19:43
Rating: Very good
Notes: Entrances. Mephisto has his Diablo Rojo jersey. Sombra and Volador are in black body armor. I like how they had to get empty ring footage of people doing moves, but it's not like they actually have footage of people doing moves in a match or anything. Dr. Guastvo is the commission representative on hand. Rafael el Maya is the ref. He checks the wrestlers for weapons, and continues not to find any. Rules meeting too – what could he possible be telling them? Keep it clean!

1: First contact is about :36 after the whistle, for what it's worth. It's Ephesto and Sombra. Lockup, Ephesto waistlock, Sombra headlock, forcing Ephesto down. Ephesto out to a test of strength. Hype for an Oaxaca show. Oaxaca? It's an new arena, I see. Sombra turns it around into a front facelock. Ephesto out into an armbar, and hammering the arm. Whip, reversed, Ephesto sunset flip, Sombra rolls thru, Ephesto rolls out of the way before Ephesto can get up, Sombra strips him instead – tapatia – no, Mephisto breaks it up with a sunset flip. Sombra rolls thru, but Mephisto's up. Sombra rolls thru and get his sown sunset flip, but Mephisto rolls back on top – only to eat a Volador springboard plancha. Mephisto trio up Volador, but Volador wins him with a headscissors from the mat. Zero leg trips, a little faster than usual, and with Volador doing a forward roll instead of an actual pin, so he could continue just rolling to his feet. Standoff. Volador with a headscissors, Mephisto is sent to the apron. Ephesto in, but he blocks the headscissors and drops Volador on his face. Sombra grabs his head in symbiotic pain, then springboards in for a 'rana, only to get powerbombed by Ephesto. That's first hand pain. Mephisto adds a Devil's Wings on Volador, and that's fall. Replays.

The whistle blows for the second fall, but they go backstage so Riano can catch up with Terrible, who's warming up. Riano looks for an interview, but Terrible shoos him away. That was a dumb trip. Break.

Volador Jr.'s trivia question is – coming up later.

2: Seems as though they picked up the match right after the whistle, so we haven't missed anything. Volador immediately misses a dropkick on Ephesto in the corner. Corner whip, Volador kips out, Ephesto charges into the corner, but stops short of hitting it, Volador turns and charges him, Ephesto moves out of the way and smashes Volador into the corner. Volador bounces out of the corner, in place for Mephisto to dropkick him back in. Sombra in with a springboard roll. Under a Mephisto clothesline, tossed by Mephisto to Ephesto, who throws him back first into another corner. Corner whip, Ephesto in after with a clothesline, Ephesto whips Volador out, where Mephisto grabs him and holds him by his side – hey, it's the Hombre Sin Nombre veg-a-matic special! Legdrop connects, but rudos let Volador go and grab Sombra. Whip, rebound hiptoss. Running kick by Mephisto. Crowd cheering for the rudos? Volador is grabbed and whipped. Double clothesline misses, and Volador back with his rebound (double) back elbow), but the rudo are unmoved and kick him down. Still, that delays the rudos enough that they've lost track of Sombra, who comes in with a springboard dropkick to either back. Rudos out. Sombra helps Volador stand on the top rope, for a Asai moonsault onto Ephesto. Sombra goes to another corner for a double jump tornillo. Everyone down, everyone getting counted out. Replays of the dives. Everyone struggles to get back in. Sombra and Mephisto in, Sombra missing a dropkick, and Mephisto slapping him down. Promo for the main event. Corner whip, Volador backdrops Mephisto to the apron and swing kicks him down. Ephesto comes in and kicks Volador down, but Sombra bumps him, flips himself to the apron, then comes back in with a springboard somersault 'rana. Meanwhile, Volador pulls Mephisto off the top rope with a 'rana of his own – three counts for both. It's tied up.

Replays. Leonardo finds more fans. Break just as the third whistle blows.

Místico hypes the 11/10 shows.

Volador's trivia question – what name did he use before he was Volador Jr.? Wiki users are out of luck!

3: Why is that man in ape mask? When will this fall actually start? Volador and Mephisto in. And ad for a Morelia show is covered up by a lottery ad – this is pretty predictable. Ephesto gets in a cheap shot from the outside while Volador runs the ropes, then taunts the crowd from the ramp. Volador waits for him to come back to the apron and superkicks. Volador off the ropes, boosted out of the ring by Mephisto, and into a headscissors on the ramp for Ephesto. Mephisto misses a clothesline, but still scoops Volador on his shoulders. Mephisto walks around for a while before Volador gets his arm scissors escape. Pose – boos, then cheers, then boos. Replays of some of his high spots. Sombra and Ephesto in. Headlock, Sombra shot off, over, waved by, up and over armdrag. Ephesto spins to the corner. Mephisto in, Sombra tries to push off him for an armdrag, but Mephisto pushes him away, then kicks him in the chest after he lands. Both rudos in. Ephesto holds Sombra, but Mephisto open hand slaps him. Sombra hiptoss Mephisto, bumps Mephisto, and uses Mephisto to help out on a rebound headscissors on Ephesto. Mephisto kicks Sombra way, but Volador immediately comes in with a springboard headscissors. High ten, técnicos pass each other once, Sombra fakes a dive by hiding in the ropes, and Volador goes over him for at tope con giro on Mephisto. Sombra turns, runs, and goes over the top post for a tope con giro on Ephesto. That was impressive, but this has just been an ordinary match to this point. A well executed ordinary match, so far. Replays for the dive, and it's clear they clipped the match at this point.

Rudos kick Sombra out, and Ephesto helps set Mephisto on the op rope for a tope con giro onto Sombra. Volador makes the mistake of sliding out of the ring when Ephesto is running, and of course that leads to an Ephesto tope. Referee counts everyone out, as the crowd chants for the rudos again. All four end up in – maybe another clip here? Rudos miss dropkicks, técnicos try 'ranas but get powerbombed. Feet on the ropes, one two, NO. Everyone slow up. Rudos headlock the técnicos and for bulldogs, they're shoved off into each other. Técnicos quickly set up so Sombra can be boosted into a dropkick on the rudos. Rudos out, técnicos climb to the corner together – stereo moonsaults off the same corner. Referee counting everyone out, once again. Volador back in first, as fans waving Mephisto some air at ringside. Ephesto ends up back in. He chops Volador, but Volador waved for support, walking away. Mephisto comes in, standing, while Sombra is still down on the apron. Double whip by the rudos, Mephisto chop, Ephesto bodyscissors, Mephisto doesn't bother helping out on the faceslam, watches Volador start to reverse it, and then walks away. Dumb! Sombra grabs Mephisto and holds him while Volador gets that bodyscissors cradle reversal, one two NO. dramatic slow count time. Feuding horns! Rudos get it back together. Volador's slammed in the middle of the ring, and the rudos go up to the middle ropes, salute each other, and try diving headbutts. Mephisto doesn't even make it to the same zip code as Volador, and Volador sits up to avoid Ephesto's. The funny thing is that was an old Averno/Mephisto spot, so you'd think Mephisto would be the one who could do it. Volador inside cradles Ephesto, and Sombra springboard 'ranas Mephisto. One two NO on both. Rudos take control again. Ephesto is breathing very hard. Volador whipped into the corner, but he sidesteps Ephesto's charge and gets Mephisto with a headscissors. Superkick for Ephesto. Volador setting up for something, but they switch to a crowd shot again. Crowd boots Volador as he climbs, and he's taking too long – Mephisto is able to get all the way to the apron and sweep Volador off. Sombra pops up and springboard dropkicks Mephisto off the apron. Ephesto charges Sombra, but Sombra scoops him up and drops him down. Rope flip moonsault - eats feet! Ephesto poses , then goes for a casita - but Sombra blocks it and cradles him, one two THREE. Big cheer – people will cheer, just not as much as people will boo.

Match is still going, because they've got to pin both men and actually remember that in a match this important. Referee counts out Mephisto (as one part ends and another starts) Mephisto charges Sombra, clothesline misses, and Sombra puts him in a full nelson. Volador sizes up a superkick, and everyone in the crowd warns him about how this one is going to go – still doesn't stop Volador from accidentally superkicking his partner. Mephisto off the ropes sunset flip on Volador, Volador reversal – just in time to get blown up by a badly timed Sombra dropkick. Supposed to get Mephisto with that one, no so much. Sombra tries to grab Mephisto with a bodyscissors, but Mephisto squirms out of that. Everyone down for a second, and the crowd starts a Mephisto chant. Sombra springboard plancha, caught cleanly by Mephisto and spun around into a less clean spinning slam. Devil's Wings! One two th-wait, no, the referee decides Sombra's shoulder is millimeters off the mat, even though it doesn't appear to be the case – and Sombra has made no effort to kickout. This is why CMLL needs new referees. Sombra's not even convinced that he's still alive in this match, arguing it! Announcers are as baffled as the rest of us.

After a replay of that, Sombra has rolled to the apron – for the purposes of our story, we're pretending he's been eliminated, even though that does not appear to be the actual case – and Volador and Mephisto pull themselves up. Volador springboard plancha flattens Mephisto. One two kickout, the referee almost getting taken out on it. Volador bumps Mephisto and goes to the ropes, but Ephesto trips him up from outside. Volador is more distracted than hurt, and Mephisto cradles him from behind – one two NO. Neither rudo can believe it. Referee warns Ephesto, not that it's going to help. After that screwed up spot before, Ephesto getting his team disqualified to end the match would not be so surprising.. Volador charges Mephisto, who trips him up and tries a casita. It's bad, and Volador shows him how to do it right – one two NO. What a great time to show the announcers. Actually, if everyone's just going to lay down for a second, might as well. Volador is up first, but the Crowd still seems more behind the other guy. Mephisto Volador of the ropes, waved by, flipping run – but Mephisto catches him with a dropkick to the back. Mephisto can't follow up, can look around. Volador set up on the top rope, and Mephisto climbs up behind him. Middle rope crucifix bomb? This has a low success rate in these sort of matches - sure enough, here's the reversal into a 'rana. Volador falls on top, one two there.

Very nice replay package. Riano interviews the champs, then Tony uses Volador to promote the Teleton, then Riano talk to more fans.

Vignette: Terrible & Texano prepare/cut promos. Face off with No Limit

Match 3: Terrible & Texano Jr. vs Naito & Yujiro for the hair win
Arena Mexico, 12/04/2009

  1. Terrible & Texano Jr.
  2. No Limit
  3. Terrible & Texano Jr.

Winner: Terrible & Texano Jr.
Match Time: 17:50
Rating: Happily good
Notes: Rayo's music with a live band! Luckily, this means Terrible and Texano in western gear and not Rayo. They've got red/green gear, instead of the usually black/white. This is oh subtle but I think they're the Mexicans in this match. La Nazi is bizarrely with them. No Limit has their more usual music. Team Mexico rushes them, and battle on the stage. Yujiro's insult t-shirt get ripped off him, but the Japanese get the better of the pre-whistle brawl.

1: No Limit throws Texano in the ring, leaving his partner behind. Whip, Yujiro hiptoss, Naito dropkick to the face, Yujiro legdrop, Naito senton con giro. Texano in, and lunging Yujiro. Naito slaps Terrible in the back to stop him. Double hanging vertical suplex. That's not as impressive with two men, though I guess it might be harder to coordinate. Rudos try to whip the técnicos into each other, técnicos turn around, and Japanese collide. Naito is chopped to one corner, and Yujiro is dropkicked down. Is the Crowd booing the Mexicans here? That's harsh. Naito superplex, Terrible's top rope splash, one two Yujiro breaks it up. Breaking up a pinfall in the first fall? Noe he's definitely booed. Replay of the near finish. Terrible whips Yujiro, Terrible turns it around, Texano gets Yujiro with a back elbow, bodyscissors chinbreaker combo, one two three. Referee helpfully points out Naito to the Mexicans. He whiffs on his charge, Mexicans scoop him up, and and drops him with a two man press powerbomb. One two three

2: Terrible and Texano ready to go in their corner, Japanese taking their time on the mat. Crowd loud for the Mexicans. Naito and Texano in to start. Naito tries to get Texano to look up, but Texano's not falling for it. Chop exchange. Naito loads up for a chop, and kicks instead. Off the ropes, over, under, Texano sneaking into dropkick him down. Texano screams. TER RI BLE chant, gosh. Sunset flip reversal spot goes wrong for the Mexicans. Yujiro comes into take advantage, and he and Texano battle for a second over who's going to whip whom. And where. Yujiro whipped to the corner, Texano, Yujiro moves, and Texano takes the knee bump to the floor. TOPE drives Texano over the front row. Terrible and Naito in, both avoid, Naito goes high and lands on the mat, Terrible kicks him in the face. Naito rolls out, Terrible follows with a roll into a pescado, but Naito punches him on the way down. Maybe a forearm? Replay is unclear.

Whip, Rudos bring Terrible in, and get him with a press powerbomb of their own. One two three. Crowd boos, but Terrible comes in and tries to punches his way in to control. No luck. Corner whip, Yujiro sandwiches him in the corner with a back elbow while Naito does his roll into his pose. Naito backs all the way up, runs, leaps off Yujiro's back, and lands the dropkick. Suplex into a powerbomb neckbreaker combo, one two three. Replays. Raino provides an update from the rudos corner.

3: Terrible and Yujiro to start, and doing a hard chop/slap exchange. Terrible's clothesline can't knock Terrible down, Yujiro's forearm can't knocks terrible down. Both charge, both clothesline, both go down, both partners cover, one two NO. Japanese batter the Mexican in the ropes with a forearm. They back up, charge, and clothesline them both out. Naito and Yujiro annoy the crowd a bit, then charge. They stop at the ropes, but the Mexicans pull them out and whip them into each other. Yujiro is knocked down, and Naito is lifted up - and rammed into the post shoulder first. Replay of that to cover up a clip.

Terrible kicks Naito in the shoulder as he stands on the apron, then climbs to the top rope – plancha onto Yujiro and Texano. Didn't even know they were down there. Naito up top now – twisting moonsault on everyone. Not the prettiest one, but it did knock the pile down. Crowd is noticeable quieter than thy were before the clip. Replays of Naito's dive, which kinda overshot everyone, but close enough. Naito in, but both Mexicans to pose him. Naito tries attacking them both, abut they both kick him down. Corner whip, Texano in with a clothesline, Texano whips him out into a Terrible takedown. Lasso motion – giant swing dropkick combo. I guess it could be a swing motion too. Texano covers, one two and Yujiro break sit up. Yujiro punches Texano and throws him out. Terrible tries kicking Yujiro, but he catches in and dragon screw leg whips him. Yujiro loads up Terrible on his shoulder – powerslam. One two NO. Yujiro pounds the mat in frustration. Naito walk around ringside, but comes back in to help when Yujiro holds Terrible. Naito charges, and of course boots his partner, clear out of the ring. Corner whip, revered, Terrible boosts his partner behind Naito, Naito begs off from Texano, right into Terrible's waistlock. Texano hops to the middle rope – dropkick/German suplex combo. Both sets off shoulders look down, but I think they're only counting Naito's – one two and Yujiro breaks it up. Naito stomp the boot – loading up? No, spear on Texano, pretty effective. Yujiro is all fired up, but still surprised by a Terrible dropkick. Everyone down, the Mexican more active and up first, waving to the crowd. Everyone looks tired. Japanese charge with clothesline, and knock the Mexicans down. Crowd boos as Naito screams. While we see a replay of it, No Limit tries for the same thing again, but get stopped by Texano and Terrible. Tornado Texano on Naito, Terrible Clash on Yujiro. One two – Yuriko seems to kick out, and Texano seems to stop covering Naito, distracted by Okumura and Mima Shimoda running down the stage to ringside, though they would've been too late to break it up anyway. The Mexican spot the interlopers in plenty of time, and they never get all the way to the ring, stopping about eight feet away and arguing. Okumura argues, then leaves on his own before the commission can do anything. Mima starts to leave (confuse), then comes back – and finally La Nazi shows up to clothesline her from behind. Mima gets up misses a clothesline, and Nazi gets her with a ugly looking one. Nazi grabs Mima by the hair, and drags her all the way to the back. Terrible & Texano watch, and No Limit cradle them from behind – one two NO.

Yujiro clothesline Terrible, taking them both to the floor. Naito and Terrible up. Naito miss a clothesline, Terrible nails him with a superkick. Thumb across the throat, guess this is it. Texano loads Naito up to his shoulder again, but Naito reverses the finish to one of his own, small package, one two THREE.

Crowd seems a little stunned. Replay. Texano is low to leave. Yujiro brings Terrible in, as the crowd chant for him. No Limit chops him into the corner. Open hand slap, knife Naito mocks the chant. Corner whip, Yujiro misses the corner charge, Terrible whiffs on a clothesline on Naito. Naito grabs him, and Yujiro points before charging – charging lariat gets his partner. Yujiro is stunned, and cradled – one two three. Crowd is happy. Kids in the crowd are happy.

Terrible waves to the crowd for support. Kick for Naito. Whip, Naito springs off the ropes with a big flying forearm, and celebrates it. It was a pretty good. Crowd very much dislikes Naito. Naito shoves Terrible in to corner and poses a bit more. Chest slap. Shaking Terrible by his hair. Corner whip, Naito charges in, Terrible flips him to the apron, but Naito chest slaps him away. Naito starts climbing, Terrible chops him, eye pokes him and super-armdrags him. Cover? Cover! One two NO. That was a bit incredible – Baby Richard made a weird motion to make the third count even longer. Texano jumps on the apron to argue, but gets threatened with disqualification. Terrible off the ropes, but Yujiro trips him up. Yujiro's very proud of himself, up until Terrible goes thru the ropes to kick him down. Baby Richards looks out of the ring to tell them to knock it off – while Texano comes in, picks up Naito, and fouls him! Naito rolls around in pain, and Terrible goes to the top rope. Texano cheers him on – tope rope splash! One two THREE! Big pop.

Mexicans are thrilled – all of them. Fireworks! Confetti (eventually- I guess you don't want to do that the same time as the fireworks.) Texano and Terrible are very pleased. Barber is quickly in the ring. Highlights package for that match. And back for the haircut. Yujiro gets shaved first. Tony has a racist caricatures of yellow men with buck teeth. But I guess they're bald.

Next week: Strong Man, Ray Mendoza, Super Porky, Averno, Volador, Negro Casas, Hector Garza, Mephisto, Máximo, Ephesto, La Mascara, Okumura, Mascarita Dorada, Lluvia, Mini Damian, Amapola, and much more.

Naito getting his haircut now.
