Dalis la Caribeña, Goya Kong, Marcela vs La Seductora, Tiffany, Zeuxis: They were more off than usual here. Dalis and Tiffany were on different pages a few times (Tiffany doing her best to cover), and Goya and Zeuxis took turns creaming each other. They can do better than this.

Fuego, Metro, Sangre Azteca vs Misterioso Jr., Namajague, Shigeo Okumura: Extremely técnico focused, which is odd for a debut of a rudo. Not too odd for CMLL, they don’t usually think that way. Namajague did not come off as a rookie to me – he was very demonstrative and expressive, doing the little shaking and reacting you wouldn’t expect to see from a new guy (or a new guy to a masked gimmick), but more what you’d see from a veteran.

 

Virus never stops

Virus vs Loco Max: that felt like a long way to go to get that finish. Loco really had little he could do the match; for a guy who’s been in so many midcard singles matches, he did not seem like much of a singles match luchador here. If there was a story here, and I’m not sure there was, the idea was Virus was going to eventually win and Loco picked how he lost instead. But maybe the story here is this is a better trios feud than a singles one.

 

Kraneo tiiiimber

Hijo del Fantasma, Máximo, Super Porky vs Kráneo, Olímpico, Psicosis: The typical match you’re getting between these two teams, with four to five minutes cut out of the first fall to make the time work. You can see this one more complete on many a show, and at a higher gear. Máximo did do a heck of a leap to sell the fake low blow. Was Porky trying to plank here?

Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Rush vs Pólvora, Rey Escorpion, Último Guerrero: They showed the replay graphic for about five minutes thru the first fall and post fall, because they forgot to turn it off when they got back to live footage. Pompin screwed up the count in the third fall. That’s what this match was. Rush may say he respects no one, but he sure has some nicer feelings towards Escorpion (who does as much damage to Rush as anyone) than Pólvora (who was shrugged off and destroyed.)

Okumura & Namajague replaced Starman & Metalico and won falls 1/3.
3) Dragon Lee b Titán, Cancerbero, Stigma, Camaleón, Soberano Jr., Bobby Zavala, Cholo [torneo Sangre Nueva, semifinal]
despite being listed as some sort of tag team tournament, this was an eight man cibernetico with a battle royal to decide teams. Elimination order was Cholo (Camaleon), Zavala (Cancerbero), Soberano (Stigma), Camaleon (Dragon Lee), Stigma (Cancerbero), Cancerbero (Titan), Titan (Dragon Lee). Dragon Lee will face the winner of next week’s cibernetico.
4) Kráneo, Morphosis, Psicosis b Diamante, La Máscara, Sagrado
Mije distracted the referee and Psicosis snatched Mascara’s mask for the win.
5) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger [MEX TRIOS]
Atlantida took falls 2/3 to keep the titles.

Princesa Blanca kept the Mexican National Women’s Championship in Guadalajara over Lady Apache. Volador won the cibernetico.

On last night’s Tercera Caida, Los Traumas announced they’d soon be appearing in US indy CZW.

Halloween talks about himself, Zumbi, and X-Fly among those in the semimain hardcore match on Saturday’s Perros del mal Show. This show is going to be a great test to see how much announcing undercards matter, because the Perros haven’t really promoted anything but the main event (and even not that too strongly.)

I got nothing today (see below), so this is a good time as any to remind you that the GALLI iPPV is this Saturday.

Besides the big TRT vs Reyes del Atlantida championship match (where the Atlantis trio must have their name on the line as well!), tonight’s Arena Mexico show also starts the Sangre Nueva tournament. CMLL mentioned the tournament in graphics on TV, but really didn’t explain it all. The CMLL Gaceta preview says the winner of tonight’s tournament will face the winner of next week’s tournament and does not mention teams (like the poster emphasis), so this is looking like a normal 16 man single elimination deal.

Skandalo & Hooligan, rejected on getting a title shot by Stuka & Fuego, went over their heads to the CMLL programming department and will get their shot after all. Skandalo has connections! It sounds like this match will happen Sunday, but that lineup is not yet available.

AAA’s twitter says tickets for Rey de Reyes will run from 600 Mexican Pesos ($46) down to 100 ($8) for adults and 50 for pesos ($3). That’s a bit more expensive than Dos Leyendas.

CMLL’s website has a poster for an upcoming show in Tijuana. The undercard includes local (and el Consejo member) Mortiz. I suspect he’s not actually going to be working that show. The other poster lists Angel de Oro & Fantasma as tag team champions; perhaps there is another tag title I’m unaware of they hold.

Felino, Terrible, Volador Jr. vs Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara: Felino really hurt his team here. He goofed around into losing the second fall, then set up both the pins in the third! A harsh day for him. This was a normal match.

Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto: técnicos were trying – Máximo in particular looks more motivated than he has anywhere outside of Japan – but the rudos seemed disinterested. They weren’t making the técnicos look bad, but they weren’t doing much on their own. I don’t know if three matches in this feud is going to be so great.

Atlantis vs Último Guerrero: Every Ultimo Guerrero match with Atlantis’ spots. Big spot, pin, kickout, (long) rest, repeat with no relation with what just happened. There’s very little creativity, and none of the spots seem like the finish because these matches only end after someone tries one of their finishing moves. I think a few less false finishes here and a few more earlier might make the match more palatable, but I don’t think that’s actually going to happen. If they do the mask match this year, I expect it to be a big deal, but I’m not looking forward to seeing the match – I can’t imagine it being much more than the two we’ve already seen.
