CMLL (FRI) 10/11/2013 Arena Mexico [CMLL on Terra]
1) Astral & Eléctrico b Pequeño Olímpico & Pierrothito
Tecnicos took 1/3. Astral had many bad spots.
2) Dallys la Caribeña, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit b Goya Kong, Marcela, Silueta
Dallys may now be “Dallys la Gladiadora” – announcers used that name. She’s got a new dark look, black hair with blue highlights and a gladiator helmet. Marcela welcomed her to the ruda side by hitting her very hard, including spiking her on the second fall Michinoku Driver. Third fall came down to the feuding two, Marcela double stomping Dallys but Dallys kicking out, then using a double underhook suplex for the win. Dallys challenged for Marcela’s title.
3) Gran Guerrero, Misterioso Jr., Vangellys b Ángel de Oro, Fuego, Stuka Jr.
Originally announced with Ephesto, Misterioso replaced him on Monday. Rudos took 1/3 in the usual match with most of these guys. Gran Guerrero fit in fine.
4) Averno b Titán [lightning]
Originally announced with Mascara Dorada. Titan replaced him on Monday. Titan took a lot of the match, but Averno (again) threw him into the barricade on a tope, then pinned him with one hand in about seven minutes. Titan needed medical attention after the match, which didn’t stop Averno from unmasking him.
5) Comandante Pierroth, Ephesto, Rey Escorpión DQ Máximo, Super Porky, Valiente
Dragon Rojo was originally announced, but replaced by Ephesto on Monday. Maximo & Super Porky were DQed for excessive violence on Rey Escorpion – specifically, closed fists, which will be legal next week.
6) Rey Bucanero, Tama Tonga, Terrible b La Sombra, Marco Corleone, Rush
Rudos were wearing their TRT gear (where appropriate), but were wearing Bullet Club t-shirts and referred to as Bullet Club Latinoamerica. It appears Tonga beat Rush for the deciding pin.

Rush & Tama Tonga seem to be paired up at the moment. I’m not a huge fan of the Bullet Club idea because it continues the trend of CMLL treating itself like a NJPW minor league, but it does solve the problem of figuring out which letter Vangelis is in TRT.

There’s a story going around that referee Rafael el Maya has left CMLL. It’s said he left on good terms. We ran into Rafael el Maya on the first day we were in Arena Mexico. He had found out he was left off the Anniversary show and was headed into Arena Mexico to talk to Paco Alonso about it. He didn’t seem angry, but didn’t understand the decision. In the end, CMLL used seven referees on the 80th Anniversary show, and he was the eight left off. Maya’s better than some of the ones they used and it’s a shame he’s leaving.

Jack Evans, Faby Apache and Taya visited patients at a hospital before Thursday’s show

AAA will have a webchat with Perro Aguayo Jr. on Monday. The first part of their interview with Faby Apache is up.

Porra Fresa previews Monday’s card.

“Mini Scorpio Jr.” is instructing a lucha libre school in Chimalhuacan, though it would have to be Scorpio Jr. based on the info they give for him and the picture (or someone’s making up facts.)

Tinieblas Jr. talks about his career, explains OCESA/WWE followed his model of promoting when they came to Mexico.

EAW – the double ring group – says they’re coming back in November to run shows in Baja California and Sonora. It’s very boastful and critical piece for a promotion which hasn’t run a show in a year and a half (and hasn’t run many successful ones ever.)

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 10/18/2013 Arena Mexico
1) Diamante, Fuego, Tritón vs Misterioso Jr., Puma, Sangre Azteca
2) Ángel de Oro, Máximo, Stuka Jr. vs Terrible, Tiger, Vangellys
3) Marcela vs Dallys la Caribeña [CMLL WOMEN]
Marcela is champion. Ninth defense.
4) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
5) Super Porky vs Rey Escorpión [hair, super libre plus]
6) Rey Bucanero & Tama Tonga vs La Máscara & Rush [CMLL TAG]
Tama Tonga & Rey Bucanero are champions. First defense

CMLL did everything but give the show a special name – or one of the Shocker/Negro/Rush or UG/Atlantis apuesta matches. It’s compelling if you’re interested in CMLL, though I’m still not sure it’s going to draw anyone away from the WWE show. (WWE’s doing that themselves.) The most recent show with two title matches was on 2012-04-10, with Bucanero/Maximo and Pierrothito/Electrico. (No hint of that last one happening again any time soon based on last night.)

Mascara & Rush are already the national trios champions and it’s unusual for a team to end up with two different sets of team titles at once. (There’s no sign of a trios title match coming up to balance things, too.) Again, this may be the start of a longer issue for Rush & Tonga.

This same setup – teaming with Marcela, getting angry on Marcela, turning on Marcela, and asking for a shot at Marcela’s title – is how Princesa Blanca won the national women’s championship. It would be disappointing if history repeats itself, because Dallys being declared the best luchadora in CMLL kind of makes a mockery of the whole thing.

IWRG (SUN) 11/03/2013 Arena Naucalpan
***Castillo del Terror, 2013***
1) Mini Multifacetico & Voladorcito vs Bracito De Plata & Mini Canis Lupus
2) Dragón Celestial, Fulgor I, Imposible vs Ciclón Black, Guerrero Mixtico, Karate Kid
FILL vs Rivera
3) Dr. Cerebro, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Trauma I vs Apolo Estrada Jr., Decnnis, Fuerza Guerrera
4) Tony Rivera vs Bombero Infernal [hair]
5) Pirata Morgan Jr. vs Carta Brava Jr.Alan ExtremeCanis LupusTrauma IIGolden MagicRelámpagoCentvriónOficial 911Picudo Jr. [Castillo del Terror, mask, cage]
ten minute minimum.

Not clear candidates to lose the cage match. I guess 911 is the favorite, but not by much. It’s very possible Carta Brava Jr. will eventually get a new character in AAA so he could always lose his old one but that’s no sure thing.  I feel like the hair match is pretty clear how it’ll go, but not the main event.

IWRG, Tama Tonga in CMLL, marathon show

IWRG (THU) 10/10/2013 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG]
1) Araña de Plata Jr. b Seiya
One fall.
2) Fulgor I & Fulgor II b Alfa & Omega
3) Alan Extreme, Canis Lupus, Fresero Jr. b Centvrión, Emperador Azteca, Golden Magic
4) Trauma I, Trauma II, Veneno DQ Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
Tecnicos took 1/3. 911 faked a foul in the second, Trauma II in the third.
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Toscano b El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., X-Fly
Tecnicos took 1/3.

There are very limited pictures, but I did not see a TV camera in any of them. That would mean Sunday is the taping. Again, Sunday’s show is a CMLL/Furor production, next Thursday is an AAA/RCH show, so IWRG proper is not back until 10/20.

Today’s CMLL show is based around the returning Rey Bucanero & Tama Tonga, teaming up with Terrible against La Sombra, Marco Corleone and tag challenger Rush. Tonga arrived a couple days ago, and said he and Bucanero are on the same page and he doesn’t care who challenges for the tag team titles. In the undercard, Brazo de Plata and Rey Escorpion face off one more time before their hair match, Dallys starts on the ruda side, and Titan versus Averno appears to be the TV main event.

Turnout might be down from usual; the Mexican National Futbol Team has a critical home game versus Panama which starts the same time as this show. CMLL is doing a 2×1 deal for anyone with a Mexican team jersey – you have to wear a green jersey, and you get a seat in the green section. That might be a cool visual, though I’d think if you were excited enough to wear a jersey you’d probably rather go watch the game.

The Mexico City Box Y Lucha Libre commission is sponsoring an eight hour marathon show, where the price of ticket is 50 pesos worth of hurricane relief donation. CMLL, IWRG, AULL and anyone other promotion they can find will be participating. I would so go to this show, start to get bored around hour four, then get way into it around hour six.

The fourth episode of DTU TV is up.

10/10 AAA TV Results (Tlahuelilpan)

AAA TV (THU) 10/10/2013 Plaza de Toros Jorge Guiterrez, Tlahuelilpan, Hidalgo [Black Terry Jr. (Flickr), Lucha Libre AAA]
1) Dinastía, Faby Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata b Mamba, Mini Charly Manson, Taya Valkyrie
Faby submitted Taya. Cuervo was hanging out near ringside during the match and attacked her after. Faby fought him off but the rest of La Secta attacked. Cuervo asked Taya if she’d like to take Faby’s hair, and suggested they challenge for the mixed tag titles.
2) Angélico, Australian Suicide, Jack Evans b Daga, Psicosis, Steve Pain
Moved to the second. Australian Suicide was the mystery person, as usual, and was welcomed to AAA by taking Psicosis staples to the chest. Gringos hit their usual move on Steve Pain for the win.
3) Fénix & Octagón b Eterno & Pentagón Jr.
Moved to the third. Fenix landed a tornillo on Eterno.
4) Cuervo, Espíritu, Ozz, Scoria b Cibernético, El Mesías, Electroshock, La Parka
La Secta beat Cibernetico via foul after Faby ran in (and was no help.)
5) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Silver King, Texano Jr. [cage]
Made a cage match. Order of escape was Monsther, Silver, Murder, Mascara and Psycho gave Texano a Canadian Destroyer to escape. La Secta attacked Psycho Circus after the match and challenged for the trios titles.

Air Date: 10/19. This looks like a one show taping, which usually means only the top 4 air on UTDN – but they ran that angle in the opener so maybe they find a way to air all five? Or maybe one of 2/3 gets cut.

La Secta running over everyone on this taping (though I’d be surprised if the semiman wasn’t 75% the tecnicos getting all their usual spots, because that’s just the way they’re going to work these matches.) AAA continues to build to Guerra de Titanes, which is great except for Heroes Inmortales being next Friday.

Happy to see a new direction for Psycho Circus. It does seem to imply something about the title match next Friday.

Rare sighting of the six sided ring! Not sure if they needed it just for the cage or just pure randomness.

10/12-14 lucha times

box.

Todo x el Todo this week, if you want a different reason to talk about Hijo del Santo.

== AAA ==

AAA-Televisa: First and probably only week from SLP. Which makes it easy to figure – top 2 (three way tag, Texano vs Psycho Clown) air on Televisa, with the other three way match and the Gringos trios added on UTDN/Regional.

== CMLL ==

FOX: Pesta Negra vs Atlantis, La Mascara, Marco and Estetas versus Avernos.

52MX: Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Virus! I am so thrilled I get to watch this again. Also something with the Guerreros and Atlantis that went about five minutes.

C3: Tag Team tournament final, Rey Cometa vs Namajague feud

TVC Deportes (Puebla): main event is Angel de Oro, La Mascara, La Sombra vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Ultimo Guerrero, but the match you care about is the maestros trios.

En Busca de un Idolo: I was a week behind. Vangellys vs Stuka and Valiente vs Fuego in the second matches of the second round

Terra: Titan vs Averno on Friday, Atlantis/La Mascara/Titan vs Ephesto/Mephisto/Volador

== Other ==

IWRG-AYM Sports: No telling which show they’ll air, but Thursday was an IWRG show and Sunday is a CMLL one.

Noches de Coliseo: Probably the Kato Kung Lee tribute show.

IWL: If it airs, it should be more of the 09/14 show (WWA Trios, Porros vs DTU, IWL Heavyweight)

DTU: I figured out this is tough to figure out when you’re writing it while the show is on the air. They should be wrapped up with the Arena Solidaridad show, so maybe they’ll be on to the 09/19 Arena Cuatro Caminos taping.

TxT: first part of the Leon taping, which usually means the first three matches. A Bobby Lee & Rayman vs Heddi Karaoui & Zumbi tag match as a TV main event.
