CMLL on Televisa- 12/06/08 (#901)
Recapped: 12/08-12/18/08

These announcers stand up are one take and one take only.

Shocker is with the trivia winners this week, and has an awesome cowboy hat. Rey Bucanero does the trivia contest this week.

highlights of the bodybuilding contest. We seem to have settled on the mystery women's name as "Niktel". There's also a Magnifica there we haven't seen before. . They spend so much time on this. Polvoro gets interview time! Paco gets interview time! It sure seems like it's his idea, since he's visible here unlike everything else.

Match 1: Misterioso II (c), Virus, Dragon Rojo Jr. vs La Mascara (c), Valiente, Hijo de Fantasma
Arena Mexico, 12/05/08

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:16
Approx Rating: Good
Other Match Notes: Hijo de Fantasma has a Fantasma baseball cap. I remember, at a Congress show, there was a guy with a Dr. Wagner hat where he either made it himself or got it at a flea market or something, and it was so cool. Hijo de Fantasma's not as cool, but it's good for Hijo de Fantasma. In a blatant attempt to suck up, he's wearing the shirt of the rowdy tecnico section. Seems like they've redone the video entrances.  Why do the guys with the GDL belts always have them, when no one else does? Misterioso is wearing a Santos jersey, I believe. Pompin and Terror Chino are your refs.

1: Virus/Fantasma go for minute son the mat, Virus doing slightly better but both good and fast paced. Dragon Rojo/Valiente is less battling for holds and more standard even stuff, Dragon Rojo bailing after an armdrag. I just realized, I've watched more than 1/4th of this show's runtime, and there's been no fall. Not just 1/4th of the match, 1/4th of the show. Misterioso lasts even less against La Mascara, but that's more to set up Mascara clearing out all the rudos with swinging kicks. Virus still reverses from a plancha to give La Mascara a Gory Bomb (Mascara doing a poor job of getting his head up.) Valiente dropkicks Virus, Misterioso gets Valiente with plancha. Misterioso manages to trip Valiente into the ropes, and Dragon Rojo adds as guillotine legdrop for one pin while Misterioso gives Fantasma the Gory Special for the other. That ended quick. Replays.

2: Still one on ones to start this fall. Valiente escapes Misterioso's offense for a while, still gets enziguri-ed. Misterioso whips Valiente into the corner, Valiente starts double jumping up for something, but slips on bounce one and (safely) falls out of the ring. Rudos stomp Valiente down, Tecnicos go after the rudos, and the referees back everyone off to check on Valiente. He seems to be hurting  form his right arm, but otherwise okay. Match takes a moment to get back going, long enough for a replay. Fantasma and Dragon Rojo compare muscle groups. Dragon Rojo is not impressed by Fantasma's abs, or his pointless handsprings. Spar works better. And...Dragon Rojo just rolls out. How odd. Misterioso gets into a posing contest with Hijo de Fantasma, and feeds himself for a headscissors. Fantasma evades Virus' handspring elbow, but runs into a hiptoss that takes him onto the ramp. He better learn a comfortable way to land on the ramp (and not back first) if he's going to keep on doing it to set up his spot coming back in. La Mascara and Virus dance, Mascara finally landing dropkicks to take control. Mascara ends up taking a header on a turnbuckle when virus moves out of the charge, but Virus pulling Mascara over the apron somehow lead to a super painful looking armdrag on Virus to the floor. Valiente planchas the other two, flips over them on a backdrop, and then gets out of the way of Hijo de Fantasma's ramp running double clothesline. Valiente gets a, uh, crooked figure four neck crank armbar on Dragon Rojo Jr. while works in his swinging DDT to set up the cross armbreaker on Misterioso. Tied up.

3: Still one on ones, with Valiente dominating Dragon Rojo as they pick up. Dragon Rojo manages to strike back with a middle rope dropkick. Dragon Rojo pulls himself up, charges Valiente near the ropes, and takes a front suplex. Oh well. Virus saves for his partner, and works over Valiente with chops. Corner whip, Valiente tossed up to the rope ,but safely backflips back. Virus till manages to leg drag him into a half crab. Fantasma makes the save with an enziguri to the back (which is not an enziguri, I know!) Fantasma gets a bodyscissors cradle on Virus for 2. Virus misses, Fantasma does not miss on his dropkick. Misterioso does not miss on his missile dropkick, but it's pretty darn ugly. Misterioso takes his time following up after a chop, which is good because they're using the long shot. Whip, flapjack faceslam, kick to the head for extra effort. Misterioso stops Fantasma from rolling out and asks the crowd if they'd like one more. Corner whip, Fantasma lifts Misterioso up, and La Mascara comes in with a giant sunset flip one two no. Mascara chops Misterioso. Whip, reversed, and Mascara is coops right up into the Gory. He escapes in time, but Misterioso escapes from the sunset flip. Mascara is able to send out Misterioso with a rolling dropkick. Virus dropkicks out Mascara, Valiente misses on a dropkick of Virus. Virus waits for Valiente to get up, charges, and gets set up on the top rope. Valiente goes to join him, but he's back elbowed to the mat, and knocked down by a Dragon Rojo clothesline. Fantasma gets Dragon Rojo with his own top rope clothesline. Misterioso comes into face him, Virus still perched on the top rope. Fantasma escapes a sunset flip, and Mascara sends out Misterioso with a dropkick, setting him up in perfect position for Valiente - double jump whooooa Valiente loses his balance and grabs onto the rope, then rests himself and jumps off for the moonsault. Very excited not to botch that. In the ring, Virus is on his feet long enough knock Fantasma back, and dive on him with a plancha. Fantasma rolls thru, allowing Mascara to get Virus in his bodyscissors into a campana. Dragon Rojo charges Fantasma, Fantasma scoops him up in martinete position and Dragon Rojo submits to the possibility of taking a martinete. That's some move. Fantasma drops him, relatively safely.

Tony drew a picture. Fantasma is a phantom, donating to the teleton pig. That has nothing to do with this match!

Hey, it's fans at the show. Calendar says Mistico is putting up his CMLL Welterweight Title. Good to know.  No mention of the tournament on Tuesday.

Rey Bucanero's trivia question: Who did he beat the to win the CMLL LH title?

Match 2: Negro Casas, Sangre Azteca, Mr. Niebla (c) vs Shocker (c), Toscano, Dos Caras Jr.
Arena Mexico, 12/05/08

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:43
Approx Rating: blah
Other Match Notes: No entrances for this match. Tell me how that's supposed to work.

Rudos jump the tecnicos for the beatdown. Toscano's switched to a white shirt this week. Not one that doesn't look like he just grabbed a random workout shirt ("ask me if I care" - ask him if he cares about his abs) and cut it up a bit, but the rudos are nice enough not to rip it off. Shocker gets put in a half crab to end it. Beatdown continues thru the second fall. Toscano kinda squirms out without taking anything., and it's not the comeback. Its like a spot normally to set up a comeback, but the rudos just stay in a while longer, until Shocker reverses a whip and gives Mr. Niebla a backdrop. Brawls, brawl, brawl, pose. Negro tries a 'rana on Toscano and fails. Dos has changed up the press slam a little bit. Highlight of the third fall is no one wanting to fight Dos. Toscano has apparently decided to give up selling this time around. Dos is still booked like a monster. Shocker is the wily guy who overcomes, but only for moments. Shocker does throw Sangre around, but he's Sangre. big edit after Niebla knocks down Shocker to start the end game. Toscano sucks on a boosted dropkick and the crowd lets him know about it. That somehow lads to the finish. While the other two get their finishes, Shocker gets the reinera on Niebla, spinning himself dizzy. Shocker's so much better.

Stellar Moments
repeats!

Match 3: Atlantis (c), Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero vs Mistico (c), Marco Corelone, Blue Panther
Arena Mexico, 12/05/08

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos 2-1
Match Time: ?
Approx Rating: Okay
Other Match Notes: So, this got wiped out in a crash. But, then, it also wasn't finished because the third fall got caught off. Rudos took the first one with a usual beatdown and a three man submission on all three tecnicos. Tecnicos eventually got a comeback in the second, but it didn't last too long - Marco missed the Superman dive, hitting Panther instead of the rudos. With those two whipped out, Mistico and UG ended up back in. Mistico's springboard 'rana got reversed into a powerbomb, and UG opted to rip off the mask instead of pin.

My video ends after that fall, but the match ends with UG winning after a foul.
