CMLL FSE GdR - 04/13/08 (#86)
Recap: 05/18/08

Open: Dr. Wagner, again. Actually, they just repeated the bit from last week.

Intro: Ephesto joins Julio Cesar to preview the show. Marco Corelone explains Marco > Olimpico.

Outside the Ring: Monito

Match 1: Hooligan (c), Loco Max, Skandalo vs Metalico (c), Starman, Super Nova
Arena Coliseo, 03/30/08

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:06
Approx Rating: Ordinary.
Other Match Notes: Tecnicos do a group promo. Starman speaks last and only gets five words in. That's why you don't speak last. The entrance doors appear to be malfunctioning. The rudos are all in the Tuareg gear, though they caption as "Guerreros Tuareg" again. Loco Max basically interviews his teammates, and it works out pretty well.

1: tecnico showcases. Metalico went a while and I still don't recall any of it, Starman was at usual undercard level (basic stuff done fine), and Super Nova was barely in for more than a moonsault to the floor. Metalico didn't get the best Okie roll but stayed on for the finish. Terror Chino did count out the rest, which was good because I had already forgot Hooligan was the captain.

El Baul del Ring

2: Metalico gets in his apron headscissors early, which an easy tip off the next guy in will start the beatdown. Sure enough, Loco clotheslines Starman and knocks off the rest of the tecnicos. Rudos have good teamwork. Starman is done after a double backdrop and a walking senton from Skandalo, but the rudos don't seem to hurry to find someone else to pin, and just don't get around to coming back. It's not like they're dived on, they just forget. Odd.

El Arte de Catch

3: Both Starman and Metalico get worked over, but Starman reveres a double rebound suplex into a double armdrags, which looks quite near the same. Nova then accidentally gets his partner when trying to dropkick Loco, and Loco follows out with a tope con giro onto Starman. The other three come in, and Metalico doesn't even bother to throw a dropkick when he's boosted up. He just lands on his feet, and Hooligan grabs him and gives him the chest stabber. One two three, that's the fall. Rudos do not appear to know and Skandalo almost maims Super Nova on a behind the back piledriver.

El Diseno: Angel Azteca Jr.

Match 2: Black Warrior, Ephesto, Olímpico (c) vs Alex Koslov, Blue Panther (c), Marco Corelone
Arena Coliseo, 03/30/08

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 12:37
Approx Rating: Nothing particularly memorable
Other Match Notes: Blue Panther talks about his great partners. Black Warrior takes time to talk about all his opponents.

1: Alex/Olimpico and Panther/Ephesto have decent battles on the mat. Warrior and Corelone don't go that way. Marco's oddly wearing a t-shirt, but it quickly becomes obvious he's wearing because a) it's his t-shirt, go buy it and b) he intends to rip it off mid match. Of course, the camera misses that spot. Beatdown happens immediately after, with Alex taking a big spin bump off a clothesline. Marco has the crowd behind him, but it doesn't help for the slingshot Warrior legdrop combo. Something odd happened before the landing there, but I don't know what. It just didn't' look right on impact. Olimpico takes care of Panther in his usual fashion, and that's it. Warrior kills Corelone with another middle rope legdrop, so I guess he wanted to make sure. Wait, no, a third! DQ THAT MAN. I know excessive violence when I see it. Corelone turns over and rolls to safety just to prevent a fourth. Of course, they replay the blown one - it looks like Olimpico lost hold of Corelone over his knees, so Corelone fell off towards the corner, and Warrior missed as a result. I'm guessing from Warrior's view point, it looked like Corelone bailed on taking the move, which would explain why Warrior would want to give him two more.

Q: Quien fue el primer luchador que gano La Leyenda Azul?
A: Blue Panther

2: Rudos still in control, and teaming up for combos on tecnicos. Olimpico and Ephesto manage to double suplex Marco, who very visibly and hilariously screams out a four letter word on camera. My notes are gone from this point - I need to get a laptop that isn't going bad at some point. Watching it again, I can tell you Marco gets the usual comeback, getting Warrior twice with the left hand of stone. Olimpico locks in a exotic submission and takes his time letting it go.

Arte de Catch: the Star

3: Tecnico showcase. Highlight is the inevitable Corelone/Warrior dance off. Corelone gets in Warrior's move and knocks him out AND knocks out Olimpico for good measure. Alex sends Olimpico out and follows with a tope con giro, which starts the end game. Corleone gets Warrior with a springboard clothesline and breaks out a cristo for the finish - that'll work. Again, Panther gets his victim in an exotico hold and doesn't let go for a while.

Replays, no interview, and they're done.
