CMLL FSE GdR - 01/27/08 (#73)
Recapped: 01/28-29/08

Intro: A fine trio of rudos, Averno, Leobardo and Sangre hang out with the announcers. Sangre waves at the camera like a goof. La Mascara's not getting his title. Averno talks about being a real world champion, unlike Rey and Dos. Sangre mugs into the camera to end this.

Intro, 2: Julio Cesar hangs out with a buzzed Rey. I mean his hair. I think. Rey's much more laid back then the rudos.

Match 1: Dr. X (c), Ohara, Shigeo Okumura vs Flash, Leono, Máximo (c)
Arena Mexico, 12/23/07

  1. tecnico
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: shenanigans
Approx Rating: Clipped
Other Match Notes: No entrances. Mima Shimoda is hanging around with Ohara and Okumura, as usual. Dr. X gets promo time! Not much. Same with Maximo. Mima ends up shoving the tecnicos, and Flash sells it big. Flash is awesome. Of course, Leono gives her a big kiss. Mima chops him. Maximo tries to throw Mima out, but it's not as much out as down into the mat. Mima's dress flies up a little, so Okumura rushes over to fix it and Ohara blocks the cameraman from shooting it. Mima rushes around the ring while we get a replay of the kiss. Looks like Ohara escorts her back to the aisle, but we look at the valets instead.

1: Dr. X appears to want Ohara to stop goofing around and wrestle, good luck on that. Maximo and Ohara start. Lockup, Maximo with a waistlock, switch, Maximo with an armdrag out, and an armdrag to send Ohara out,. Ohara is stunned on the outside, so Maximo points to the crowd a bit. tags to Okumura and Leono. Okumura has a bandage on his forehead. Okumura off the ropes, over, quick stop, whip, reversed, Okumura slides on Leono's leapfrog, Leon off the ropes, Okumura misses a clothesline, Leono connects on a shoulderblock. Leono roars. Crowd boos. Okumura waits for him to turn back around so Okumura can punch him, but Leono ducks it and kicks Okumura in the legs to knock him down multiple tome. Okumura's pulled back to his feet by his chair. Open hand slap, whip, reversed, and Leono comes back with a spinning headscissors. Leono of the ropes, single twist slingshot tornillo the floor. Wasn't expected one so soon. Flash rushes in, missing on a dropkick to Dr X. Dr. X chest slaps him into the corner. Shoulderblock, Dr. X heads towards the opposite corner but Maximo's waiting for him and armdrags him. Flash charges into a boost from Maximo, landing on to Dr. X with a - I think Dr. X tried block a  'rana try into a powerbomb, but lost his footing and fell backwards. Flash hit the mat hard, Dr. X hit the bottom rope hard. Flash ends up sitting on top for a pinfall, but they're too far in the ropes for the ref to call it. (So maybe it was his fault?) Flash pulls Dr. X away from the ropes and covers again while Maximo gets a second rope butt bump for the fall.

2: Okumura tries to broker peace between Dr. X and Ohara, but they're Dr. X is still mad at him. Dr. X starts again Flash. Handshake? No, Dr. X shoulderblock. Flash kips up to his feet and poses before Dr. X has a chance to get to the ropes. Dr. X bumps him again, off the ropes, Flash leapfrogs over, then rolls backwards to catch Dr. X with an armdrag. Dr. X Chest slaps him Flash, corner whip, Flash runs up the ropes and moonsaults into an armdrag. Flash teases a dive but moonsaults off the rope instead. Maximo back in to take on Okumura. Crowd on Okumura's case. Maximo tease a handshake and matador waves Okumura on by. Again. Again. Maximo makes up for it with a hug, and then goes for a little more. Maximo off the ropes, cartwheeling over a leapfrog, Ohara forearms him in the back and grabs him, Okumura tries a double chop, Ohara ends up taking it. Okumura hit his partner hard and did not seem to mind. Hiptoss for Okumura. Ohara tripped into dropkicking his partner, Maximo headscissors Ohara out. Dr. X in while Ohara tries to explain what happened to Okumura. Dr. X yells at them to get it together, then gets all of his strikes blocked before being kissed by Maximo. Dr. X is not amused. Ohara and Okumura rush the ring, bash Maximo and knock the others off the apron. Slow motion replay of the kiss. Lots of kissing going around this match. Flash brought in for corner charges. Dr. X does the low blow dropkick. Leono takes Ohara's rising knee lift, and Okumura finishes him with his reverse DDT. Ohara throws Maximo thru the ropes and onto the stage. Dr. X swings from the apron into the ring to dropkick Flash in the corner, and that's the fall.

3: The turnaround has been cut out, and the tecnicos are taking turns clotheslining Dr. X in the corner as we pick up. He's held for Maximo's running butt to the groin. Okumura comes in to lamely miss clotheslines and eat a backbreaker. Ohara at least hits everyone, but stops to pose and gets stomped down and thrown out. Another crowd shot to cover up a sizeable clip, and back in time to see Leono hit the springboard elbow drop on Okumura for the pin. Maximo slams Ohara and splashes from the second rope. They cut out a Flash dive! How dare they. Now I'm just angry.

Clip ahead for Leobrado/Maximo hilarity. Crowd is loudly into Maximo's antics. They do show multiple replays of Flash's dive - a tope near the corner, with Flash turning over at the last second - so it kinda works out.

Match 2: Averno (c), Mephisto, Sangre Azteca vs Dos Caras Jr. (c), La Máscara, Rey Bucanero
Arena Mexico, 12/23/07

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:11
Approx Rating: good build to a match that's not on this show.
Other Match Notes: Mascara has red pants that look like warmup gear but apparently are not. Unlike Rey, Dos has his belt. La Mascara talks about the upcoming title match with Sangre. Sangre has his belt. Even though these are usual dubbed entrances, they don't do it a good job of it, and the two ring announcers are talking over each other. Tecnicos jump the Averno in the aisle, though we get a promo from Mephisto about Dos Jr. before the match gets going.

1: Averno headbutts Rey, who jumps over a railing to get in the seats (a foot drop, maybe), pushes thru the crowd and walks down an seating aisle to get back to the ring. Odd. Averno needed time to take off his robe anyway. They brawl over there. Tecnicos generally seem to get the worse of the brawl. Sangre wastes no time ripping up La Mascara's mask, and it's only kept on because Dos Jr. breaks that up. Rey and Mascara both get beat up on the ramp. Mephisto slams Dos. Sangre manages to crank Mascara's neck around a railing and talk to the camera at the same time. That's talent. Averno takes Rey around ringside. Rey fires up when they get into the ring, and immediately gets kicked down. So there's that. This is an all brawling beatdown. Rudos immediately group up as I type that. Triple boot for Rey, and he's finished with a double armbar/leg pull. Mascara tries to come in to help, and Sangre stomps the crap out of him. Mascara's held to the mat and Sangre lands his top rope low blow-ish missile dropkick to finish the fall.

Q: What important mask did Averno win?
A: El Hijo del Gladiador

2: Beatdown goes on. Averno chases Dos up the aisle, chasing away the ring girl in the process. Rey Bucanero and Mephisto battle by the announcers, so of course that's all they can pay attention to. Averno pulls Dos back to the ring, but then just let shim go, which seems kinda like misplaced effort. Rey comes into to be attacked fit, and takes the flying sit. Dos is kicked a bit in the corner before being set up for the sit. He does not move out of the way, a bit of a surprise. Mascara rushes the ring and gets some shots on Sangre before help arrives. Averno stands on top of Mascara and poses and a "ole ole ole Ciber Averno, Averno" chant breaks out. Averno's quite thrilled, though I'm still not sure I heard that right. Mascara immediately starts the comeback, avoiding a corner charge and headscissors Averno. Sangre misses a senton, and get sup in time to get knocked down by a superkick. Rey gives Mephisto a double knee gutbuster as the other tecnicos start setting up the rudos on the ropes. Rey adds Mephisto on the pile and his this running sit on all of them. Mascara and Dos add (bad) 619s. People need to stop doing that if they're not going to make it look good. Replays of Rey's move, seemingly cutting out something with Mascara and Sangre. The other two are cleaning up after they pick up from the replay.

3: Sangre and Mascara start chest slapping each other. Sangre gets around to cheating, kicking Mascara's leg out and stomping him. Whip, reverses, and Mascara plants him with a backbreaker. Sangre decides to get out while he can, and Mascara chases him at ringside a bit. Tags to Averno and Rey. Both take a moment to get the crowd going, and Mephisto's in "helping" before much longer. A lot more Averno & Mephisto failed double teams than anything Rey does. Sangre comes in to confront him and calm the crowd, thought at doesn't work so well. Rey throws him off when he tries a bodyscissors and does his own springboard elbow drop before leaving him for La Mascara to take over. Mascara gets his mask ripping revenge, dragging Sangre cross ring while doing it. Sangre gets out of there while the refs yell at Mascara, and then protests from a safe distance. Tags to Mephisto and Dos. Crowd loud behind Dos. Dos off the ropes, over, under, Mephisto off the ropes and directly into an armdrag. Dos tries another, Mephisto bails on it, Dos drops to the mat alone and kicks Dos square in the head. Mephisto celebrates his aim for a bit. Corner whip, Mephisto charges in, Dos kip up and out, Averno grabs Dos, Dos kicks Mephisto away as he charges, elbows Averno away, corner enziguri for Mephisto and gives Averno a backbreaker. Is Sangre going to come in? Yea, with a plancha that Dos has no problem catching. Dos rocks Sangre in his arms a little bit, drops him in the ropes, and dropkicks him out. Dos teases a dive and poses. Mascara back in again, Sangre in to face him but then thinks better. Averno will do it. Mascara still wants Sangre, but Averno cuts him off. Mascara off the ropes, over, under, ducking a clothesline and back with a headscissors. Mephisto clocks Mascara from behind before he can do more. Mephisto holds Mascara for a shot, but of course Mephisto ends up taking a chest slap, and then a headscissors form Mascara. Averno gets taken out with a spinning armdrags, and Sangre has no choice but to come in. Shoulderblock for Mascara, off the ropes, right into the path of a rolling dropkick. Mascara out with a tope, and Sangre throws himself into the second row. Everyone else ends up in the ring, and Dos and Rey quickly finish it off.

Replays, and Mascara and Sangre talk up Tuesday's title match and teasing a mask/mask match.
