CMLL FSE GdR - 10/14/07 (#59)
Recapped: 10/20/07

Intro: They're hanging out backstage at Arena Mexico. Julio talks up the people who've roamed these halls - Santo! Blue Demon! This show is such a let down if you're going to put it like that.

Outside the ring: India Sioux.

Match 1: Averno (c), Ephesto, Mephisto vs Alex Koslov, Maximo, Rey Bucanero (c)
Arena Coliseo, 09/16/07

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:39
Approx Rating: Fine enough for a midcard match, nothing special.
Other Match Notes: No entrances, though Averno appears to have his belt. How random.

1: Mephisto and Rey start with a normal basic opening, complete with zero leg trips, and tag out. Maximo and Averno are next, though they stop to look at the crowd, and so do we. We miss no action. They appear to be turning and off some lights to provide the rhythm for cheers. That's a bit much. Averno and Maximo exchange slaps, and Maximo kiss his hand and pus it it to Maximo's mouth. Maximo off the ropes, cartwheel, Averno's clothesline misses, Maximo's headscissors does not. Springboard armdrags sends Averno out, and Maximo follows with a tope, a bit surprising. Alex in and headscissors Mephisto out - springboard plancha immediately follows. Ephesto misses a clothesline on Rey and gets a spinebuster. Rey stands over Ephesto and grabs his legs to pick him up - but Ephesto hooks him into a headscissors cradle, one two three! Rudos got one move in and won. Sucks to be Rey. Alex is unconcerned, sitting in the lap of a front row woman.

Rudos do more damage working over the tecnicos after the fall then they did during the match.

2: Maximo is laid out on the ramp to start the fall, so the ring girl decides to put a foot on him to pose. Maximo's not thrilled, first dismissing her, then rushing after he when she turned around. Maximo gets the ring card, but Averno immediately attacks him from behind and gets the card himself - smash it goes over Maximo's head, shattering rather easily. I don't think it ever made contact with Maximo's skull, instead exploding upon contact with his mohawk. Averno's partners are firmly in control in the ring. Alex has found another lap to flail into. Rudos collect Maximo from the ramp so they can bring a tecnico in the ring, but take their time doing it. Maximo's whipped into a spinebuster, and Ephesto takes a double rebound hiptoss on top of him. Bucanero in, and trying to get the crowd to cheer as he's held on the ropes. Whip, Bucanero rolls under a double clothesline and Alex hits Mephisto with a springboard forearm. Rudos are all set up on the middle rope - is the crowd booing or Buuu-ing? Bucanero his the big sit. Alex frog splashes the pile, Bucanero this a second rope senton on the pile, and Maximo hits the middle rope splash for the pin. The crowd seems not happy. I dunno.

El Arte de Catch: Tope Suicida - actually a tope! YAY

Dr. Wagner says VIVA MEXICO VIVA WAGNER. Also, Arena Mexico is his house. This is what being on a delay does to you.

3: Rudos are still regrouping as this fall starts. Ephesto confronts Alex to start off the fall. Ephesto off the ropes, over, and connecting with a jumping elbow thing. Not really sure. Armdrag by Alex, and then the stop sign so he can blow kisses. Ephesto tries to cheap shot him, Alex ducks and gives him a jumping enziguri. We look very closely at an Alex supporter while Averno and Mephisto apparently attack him. Alex sorta Breakdance to his feet, only to get booted into the corner. Mephisto whipped in after, Alex moves, kicks Averno as he charges, backflip run, backdropped to the apron, but he comes back with a springboard clothesline for Averno. Mephisto charges, Mephisto gets dropped with a backbreaker. Averno charges, escapes the backbreaker, but still gets superkicked. Alex feels himself up for the crowd. Ephesto back in, to face Rey this time. Ephesto wants a handshake? It's in the third fall, and Rey's still got his vest on. Ephesto doesn't get that handshake and teases leaving. Mephisto in instead, Rey ducks his charge and dropkicks him. Averno stops Rey with chops, Corner whip to Mephisto who puts him on top, but Rey fights him off, wand walks off his back into a headscissors on Averno. Kick to Mephisto is caught, enziguri is ducked, Mep celebrates and Rey comes back with a spinning heel kick. Crowd is very very quiet. Rey ducks a clothesline from Ephesto and gives him a kinda bodyscissors powerbomb. Ephesto is dropkicked out, and Rey follows with a slingshot tope con giro. All other four end up in the ring, with the Terror-ists whipped in each other. Alex gets boosted up for a dropkick, but no one's home. Stereo kicks to the gut, tecnicos are lifted up, held up, and dropped for dual Devil's Wings! That's it. This rudo team doesn't need to get much in, because they're getting the last move in.

Emilio Charles Jr. says VIVA MEXICO

Match 2: Emilio Charles Jr. vs Mascara Purpura in a hair/mask match.
Arena Coliseo, 09/16/07

  1. Emilio half crab (2:54)
  2. Purpura running shooting star press (2:03)
  3. Purpura small package (4:01)

Winner: Mascara Purpura
Match Time: 8:58
Approx Rating: As disappointing as the rest of the feud.
Other Match Notes: I like how is says VIVA MEXICO right behind Mascara Purpura as he enters. Dubbed entrances. They really need to fix that. We get a five second promo from Mascara. I don't think we're going to get a lot more of them. Not that Emilio's promo is that long. No seconds!

1: Emilio is attacking Purpura as we're still looking at valets. Clothesline knocks him down. This is a semimain in Arena Mexico, maybe the last time Emilio Charles will ever be in the position on a non-legends show, and he's still wearing the black t-shirt over his gear. Whip, big boot. Purpura rolls out, but Emilio is after and knocking him silly with a shot to the chest. Into the announce desk they go. There's five people behind it, if you count the production tech. Emilio chokes Purpura out with cord while ranting to the announcers. Purpura's picked up just to be chopped down. Emilio back in, and ref warns him before he starts counting Purpura. Hey, there's one person with a Purpura mask in the crowd. One person. Whip, clothesline. Crowd is booing, but it doesn't seem like booing the rudo booing. They're mostly quiet. Purpura gets up, Purpura gets punched down. Emilio goes after the mask and looks around for the people to react. They don't. Corner whip, corner clothesline. Match is getting hooted and whistled at. Whip, spinebuster, tilted half crab, and that's the fall.

Q: [Emilio] Con que nombre inicio su carrera y quien lo desenmascardo?
A: Se llamaba el Socio y lo desenmascaro el Halcon 78

I had no idea Emilio was masked!

2: We've got two ring girls holding up two fingers, since Averno broke the sign. Purpura's been tossed to the outside as this fall starts, but he easily makes the count. He's just pounded when he does. Headbutt by Emilio. Purpura is stretched over the ropes. I think the crowd would've been tough regardless, but the wrestlers aren't getting them into it. Emilio with a whip, reveres, and Purpura lands a backbreaker. There's cheers, followed by a lot of boos. Another backbreaker as you just hear the boos now. Purpura ducks a clothesline, connects on a springboard reverse tope, and adds a running shooting star press! One two three. Again with the cheers turning into boos.

El Arte de Catch: La Plancha! And this is right too! YAY.

3: Three ring girls here. Did we break that sign without realizing it? Somehow, we clip ahead to Emilio getting the cavernaria on Purpura. Announcers and referees sell it big, with the referee about to call it multiple times, so A for effort. Still doesn't happen. Purpura goes for 'rana, Emilio rolls thru, one two NO. Ref is dramatically counting slow now. Crowd shot, and back to the ring - either Emilio fouled Purpura with a mule kick or Purpura faked it, it's very tough to tell from the part we jumped in on. It looked like a little more like fake, but the announcers are reacting like it hit. Ref is shaking his finger, but counting anyway, one two no. What happened there? We get a replay, thankfully enough, and it looks the kick hit thigh (which sometimes is close enough.) Purpura cradle Emilio for two. If that was supposed to be a foul, playing of the previous finishes, they really should've gone right to the finish after. Who knows,. Emilio takes off his shirt, then just stands there, and Purpura gives him a rolling forward cradle into a jarrocha, or something like it. Emilio doesn't give up right away, and Purpura can't hold it on long enough. Purpura looks to draw from the crowd, and they boo him. Purpura is very confused. Purpura slam Emilio and head to the middle rope, amidst lots of boos. Purpura is expecting the "don't go up, you'll miss" reaction, but it seems more to be the "can we see the main event already"? type. Purpura comes back in the ring, drops an elbow, and heads up again. Top rope 'rana (maybe) is turned into a powerbomb, and Emilio's all fired up. Figure four, reversed into a small package, one two three. Ric Flair, that was not. Purpura does get cheers.

Barber hits the ring, and fireworks go off. Purpura gets on microphone and gets booed. Emilio's gets bits and pieces clipped off. Emilio gives Purpura credit for winning. Replay - we can't actually see Emilio's shoulders from the view they showed us now and originally. A reverse angle shows Purpura's arm might have kept Emilio from having his shoulders down, but that's about normal. One final look at Emilio, who hair is cut but not shaved off.

That's it.
