CMLL GDR FSE - 05/13/07 (#40)
Recapped: 05/15/07

Dark Angel joins Magadan and Julio to preview the show. Much to my disappointment, she disappears for the rest of the show, though they seemed to talk about her for a bit. Alex Koslov and Mephisto do open promos. Whoever won the last mask contest gets the mask here, too.

Match 1: Euforia, Nosferatu, Satanico (c) vs Felino (c), Mictlan, Tony Rivera
Arena Coliseo, 05/06/07

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:56
Approx Rating: Eh. Not as good as their first match, for sure.
Other Match Notes: Infernales are wearing the black hoods here. Euforia and Nosferatu do the pre-match promo, and Nosferatu looks very much like Chamaco Valaguez Jr. here. Even the rowdy tecnico fans are wearing "Vote For Perro" shirts.

1: Per usual, we join in progress, here watching a Mictlan and Chamaco exchange end. We get Euforia/Tony, and then Felino thru everyone. Nosferatu gets dropkicked out and Tony gets him with at open. Felino takes care of Satanico while Mictlan gets in his fireman's carry powerbomb for good measure.

Clip: Black Warrior at the lucha libre expo.

2: Felino and Satanico get into a brawl in the ring, with the other four still there. Satanico of course wants to take out it outside, where they can tease punching and not actually do it. Satanico does a bit of instigating behind the refs back. Felino and Satánico take it back inside and tell everyone else to clear out so they can go at it. This works with the wrestlers, but when Satanico tries to get the referees to leave, they're not down with that. So Satanico turns attention to the fans instead, and, hey, there are few enough out there this week where it might work. It doesn't, so Satanico just tags out. That was so random. Tony and Euforia again. Superkick count: 1. Tony sends Euforia out with a headscissors, gets cut off with Nosferatu, and does not look good at him at all. Superkick count: 2! Thankfully, that's the one generic CMLL midcard tecnico move Mictlan has not yet mastered. He looks fine with Euforia, and powerslams and dropkicks Nosferatu out. There can only be one new guy with a demon gimmick! I guess. Infernales regroup, and Felino dumbly tries to jump them, quite literally. They move, and they work him over in the corner 3 on 1. Tecnicos make no effort to help as Felino takes corner charges, and Infernales make a wish with his legs. I think the referees are warning the tecnicos for not coming in, but we don't see it enough to know. Tony's next, and whatever the new guys are trying to do, they don't actually do it. Satanico shakes his head and calls for the next spot, which is a double suplex. Better. Satanico kicks Tony out, and back elbows Mictlan as he comes in. Double axhandle to the midsection, though the timing is off here. Everyone pins him for the win, and Satanico actually consults the refs to see if he needs to get someone else. HE does, so they grab Satanico. Well, Satanico gloats while the other two grab him. Measures punch knocks Felino down. Felino tries to battle up, but he's grabbed for the triple submission.

Promo: a generic one from Wagner.

3: Apparently the comeback started during the break, but the tecnicos are easily in control when we return - in fact, theyr'e so far along, it's time for the rudos to take control back by shoving them all off on triple bulldogs. It doesn't seem like they're pressed for time this week, with no features. but they sure have been editing. Mictlan and Tony get back elbowed out and the new guys do topes. Felino and Satanico in and easily distracted by the Felino chants. They get into a chop battle, and Satanico ends that with a knee. Whip, backdrop. Euforia has suddenly reepapred, and he fireman's carry slams Felino. Nosferatu off the top rope with a splash, and a triple submission pose. That's it? That's it. Quick. Replays are kinda pointless, since showcasing the highlights more than once makes them as long as the fall.

Magadan talks to the Infernales. Looks like Satanico has gotten Felino mask, though he cuts his promo more on Mictlan since he happens to be laying outside the ring. Nosferatu and Euforia get in words while Satanico gives Mictlan a couple more boots for being mouthy.  Mictlan complains about all the 3 on 1s. Welcome to lucha, dude. Infernales beating up Tony for good measure, and then Mictlan again when he tries to make a save.

Promo: very short one from Dark Angel

Match 2: Mephisto (c), Misterioso II, Virus vs Alex Koslov (c), Neutron, Ultimo Dragon
Arena Coliseo, 05/06/07

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:24
Approx Rating: Seen better fro these guys, but fine enough.
Other Match Notes: They briefly mentioned Maximo's interview once they actually got around to previewing the show in-ring, but the first time we actually know Neutron is taking his place is when he comes out for the match (though I think you could see him in the previews.) Ultimo Dragon does the pre-match promo for his team, and he comes off like he has sub-Corelone familiarity with Spanish. Odd. Is that one of those things? Misterioso is wearing one of those hoods - I guess it's all the fashion in '07. Entrances are clipped for whatever reason. Misterioso is crazy fired up for his promo. This is a low-fi main event.

1: Yep, clipped. Virus and Koslov are 3/4ths thru their opening mat exchange when we start, which makes me very sad. It takes Magadan about 10 seconds to say Jimmy Neutron - Dr. Morals would've gotten it done much quicker. He and Misterioso look good opposite each other, except for the posts where Neutron is standing for a second waiting to take a legsweep. Tags to Mephisto and Ultimo. Announcers talk about Astro Rey. I'm just always happy when I pick up something they talk about. This is Ultimo Dragon one on one, though he seems to have added a "stop" sign to his set. Mephisto tries to draw a foul off Dragon's heel kick, but it ain't happening. Mephisto ends up going outside to recover, which means Dragon can get his Asai Moonsault in right away. Neutron and Misterioso in, and speaking of getting in things, there's the springboard reverse tope. Alex is all "I might as well do my move TOO" and that's the fall.

Promo: generic India Sioux promo.

2: We pick up with Koslov killing Misterioso with a chop. His next one isn't as painful, but it's still not fun. Koslov has inherited the tecnico flipping for no reason disease, and annoys Misterioso with comedy before smacking him upside the head with a jumping enziguri. Dance Time! With a special rude hand signal the rudos. Virus rushes Alex in response, Ultimo rushes him, and all six are in the ring quick. The rudos get a jump on the tecnicos, and the beatdown is on. Nothing particular interesting early on, just general beating. While, Dragon selling his arms being cranked around the ropes is amusing, but not how it's supposed to be. Dragon takes corner charges before being knocked out of the ring. Koslov in next, but only for a brief second. Triple faceslam for him, and everyone grabs an appendage for the submission. Dragon brought in quickly, but they ditch him and beat up Alex instead. Misterioso gets in his Gory Special, and a triple submission finishes him as well.

3: Beatdown continues with a triple boot for Neutron. Alex brought in and worked over - he gets the old drop toe hold -> camel clutch -> dropkick to the head combo. Ultimo in and trying to kick his way out of it, so they grab his leg and kick him hard on the side of the thigh. Mephisto bites his foot thru his boot! I don't think that works, but points for effort. Virus has Ultimo in a toe hold at the same time, but they're well in the ropes and the ref yell at them till they let go already. Neutron takes a backdrop, an elbow drop, and senton. Replay of the thigh kick, as the announcers were wondering if it might be a low blow - nah. Koslov held on the apron, and booted to the floor. Dragon dared to come in, and immediately brought in to be worked over the same way again. Rudos taunting the crowd. Corner whip, Misterioso whipped in after, Dragon moves out of the way, double kick to Virus and Mephisto as they charge in, handspring back elbow into them as they try a double clothesline (instead of Mistico's handspring flip over the clothesline.) Dragon waves in the troops and the crowd. Chops and kicks for everyone, spilling out to the floor. Virus gets posted by Alex, Misterioso gets posted by Neutron. Dragon works Mephisto in the ring, and then throws him out to join the brawl. Dragon gets in his kicks, though I don't know if that counts as his combo. Mephisto escapes to break up a Neutron hold on Virus. Neutron's kicked out of the ring, so Dragon takes his place. Mephisto's clothesline is reversed, right into a hammerlock headscissors cradle, but Misterioso breaks that up with stomps jus tin time. Neutron in to take him, but Misterioso stops him with  chops. Corner whip, Misterioso charges in, Neutron moves out of the way, and Neutron spears the post. Mephisto wanders around the ring, where Neutron can get him with a no hands tope con giro. Alex eventually wings Virus out of the ring, and gets him with a nice springboard plancha. Dragon and Mephisto, captains, left back in. Dragon blocks Mephisto's kick and gets him with the tree kick Combo. Dragon Cutter, one two three. Tecnicos celebrate. Replays. Lots of replays, because there's plenty of time left. Did people throw money in the ring? The match was just okay.

Julio interviews Neutron, but does not lead with "where the heck have you been for nine months? And where is Metro?". Everyone gets mic time because we have time, and Koslov never got to blow a kiss during the match (at least as far as we saw - probably in what was cut out of the first fall.)

Show ends about 2 minutes early. I have no idea what was up here with the timing. Someone needs a new watch.
