Welcome To The Show Vignette: Shocker and Ke Monito

While Alfonso Morales is hyping up coming shows and this up coming show, he's interrupted by a man in a black ski mask. It's Universo 2000! And he's really unhappy with referee Rafael Maya for DQing him in the mask match, essentially costing his mask. He was never beat, and he wants to still have his mask. Morales points out it was his fault he used a DQ-ible move, and nothing's really solved.

Vignette: Guapos 2000. Things covered
- Fabian Gitano being pictured in a newspaper with his mask off! I think he apologizes.
- Roll Call of the members: Misterioso, Karisma, Maximo, Espiritu, Lobo Vikingo, Texano Jr., Tigre Metalico, Leono, Brazo de Oro Jr., Brazo de Plata Jr., Fabian Gitano, Alan Stone. Alan Stone is the only one who talks, and it's not made especially clear that he won the contest. Rather, it's more than all of them are representing Guapo U in a never ending struggle with Los Guerreros.

Match 1:  Canek (c), Black Warrior, Shocker vs Dr. Wagner Jr. (c), Universo 2000, Terrible
Arena Mexico, 09/24/04

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:16
Approx Rating: 70

Other Match Notes: Tecnicos out first. Canek seems to get annoyed with people reaching out to far to high five him. We get the long intro (and Matrix outfit) for Shocker. Wagner is in rudo mood, and holding up the WWA Heavyweight Championship belt with a valet. He's wearing one of his neat split masks, half Wagner, half Universo. Next out is Universo - wearing his mask! Crowd isn't happy with that. I think Terrible's been using "American Women" for a while, but I still find it crazy. He rushes towards the ring, stops, and sticks out his tongue to annoy Shocker, and it actually works!

Obviously, we're building up to a moment where Universo gets his mask pulled off and we see his face - so the introduction video has him with his mask off, so we can see his face. They showed it in the open, as well. Simple mistakes like that kill me.

Beatdown, with Wagner and Universo initially focusing on ridding Canek of his mask. The top half gets ripped off. Individualistic beatdown, with Terrible only supplying the non-striking on Shocker. Side back breaker. It occurs to me that right now, they may think they're still building up Shocker vs Terrible as a big match for the year ender. Wagner, from his actions, still doesn't know he's going tecnico. He got a mixed reaction coming out, and a small chant when he stopped to remove his ring clothes during the beatdown, which causes him to look at the crowd confusedly. You can see the red hair sticking out of Universo's mask. While Wagner's taking forever to get out of his jump suit, Terrible and Universo are teaming up for some simple stuff on the tecnicos - double backdrops and the sort. I kinda keep expecting something to go wrong and fingers to be pointed at the guy out of the ring, but everything flows pretty smoothly on Shocker, then Warrior. Crack directing gives us a view of Canek as Terrible and Universo pin Warrior after a double spinebuster but they do turn back in time to see the two and the three. (2:35) Canek in, and now Wagner is back in to beat on him. Off the ropes once twice THRICE for the dropkick to the head. Universo gets in the pin while Wagner's posing (2:56) Oh wait, he's not posing, he's going after Monito. Shocker tries to save his buddy (currently higher on the food chain than Mascara Magica), but Universo and Terrible dispose of him. WAGNER SPLASH! UNIVERSO BIG SWING! Luckily, Monito falls right into a Shocker's hands. Unluckily, Terrible stomps both of them out of the ring. Universo and Terrible hold the ring while Wagner goes out. In a strange but funny moment, Wagner sets up to suplex Canek on the floor and apparently Canek tells him that's not going to happen, so Wagner has to improvise some kidney punches as if he was doing them all along not to look like a dope. Warrior gets posted as we take a look at replays. Break time.

Beatdown continues onto the second fall. Inside recapping for you: "beatdown continues" means "I'm going to surf the web until I look up and notice the comeback happened, then rewind and fight out why." Of course, thru the magic of bizarre clipping and random action, I don't even get to make it thru that sentence before we go from Shocker getting beat up at the announce both by Terrible and Wagner to tecnicos having complete control of the ring. Including Wagner being beat in the ring. Anyway, the point here seems to be Canek untying Wagner's mask, and ripping it off - which he does, since that's not a DQ. And Warrior tries to upstage it with a running dropkick on Wagner and posing. Sometimes, I don't think they lay out matches too well in Mexico. Anyway, Warrior beats Universo out of the ring, leaving Wagner in it, and Canek wants hi mask next. Instead, we settle down a while so everyone can have a good look at Universo's face. Okay, Shocker and Terrible now. Why not. Terrible with a kick, shot off, Shocker pulls him down by his hair. Shocker off the ropes, over - no, tripped up by Terrible. Terrible off the ropes, shoulderblock flips out Terrible. As Terrible goes to mockingly do Shocker's trademark posing, we get the Rabid Fans Camera shot. Because when Shocker's getting knocked down, they're gonna go CRAZY! (They do go partially-crazy when they realize the red light's on.) Terrible chop, whip, big boot is slid under, Shocker ducks the clothesline and pulls him down by his hair. And then he starts pulling him up by his hair! Yea, the hair/hair match was still the plan at this point. Monito adds a butt splash, and Shocker covers Terrible for the pin (2:36) as Warrior comes off the top with a cross body for Universo. Universo's clothesline is blocked, whip by Warrior, reversed into a corner whip, Warrior with the kip up sunset flip out, one two three. (2:47) Wagner thought about getting involved, opted not to when Canek confronted him, and now will walk al the way to the back if Canek keeps following him. Wait, no, he's taking a stand! Open hand slaps - no effect. Okay, now he's leaving. Look at the huge nice Black Warrior banner in the third row. Wagner opts to hang around a little more, and gets pounded up the ramp, and down the ramp. Look at the crowd because the fighting, who needs the fighting. This match has really made me annoying, huh? REPLAYS.

Third fall. Wagner yells at the crowd some for cheering for Canek, though I can't tell if they're actually doing it. Canek and he start, as I hope for a quick end. Wagner with an open hand slap. Armbar, reversed into a monkey flip by Canek. Canek waits for Wagner to get up and armdrags him down. And armdrags him down again. Canek kick catch (Wagner: "NO NO NO NO NO") enziguri! It didn't look as horrible as you might think it did, although it had no follow thru. It did knock Wagner out of the ring. Crowd shot. Universo camera shot. Let's be honest: Universo looks like a freaking clown. And not even a scary one. What the utter heck was he thinking? That he wanted to look like a clown, I guess. It is vaguely the orange of his alternate gear, though I think it's a bit too red. Back in the match, it's Terrible and Warrior, and Terrible running into a Warrior kick. Warrior stands around and poses and Terrible kicks him. This would not be a good singles match. Powerbomb? No, double leg takedown by Warrior, he's kicked away, and Warrior rebounds into the corner, falling down into a low blow headbutt. Warrior off the ropes, big boot knocks Terrible out. Terrible should run, but he doesn't - WARRIOR TOPE. Terrible seems to be in much pain. Shocker and Universo in and exchanging open hand slaps - and they're really behind Shocker. Back to slaps, with Shocker going off the ropes for a hard one and Universo begging off from more. Universo uses the opening to get in a shoulderblock, but runs into a Shocker drop toe hold. Shocker Elbow drop comes up empty, but Universo charges into a drop toe hold of out of the ring. Apron dive by Monito! Pescado by Shocker! Canek and Wagner, and Wagner getting beat - backdrop, (weak) clothesline), snap mare, and Canek's going for the mask. Big rip job, but somehow Universo's got back in - and he rips off Canek's mask. Let's pretend they chose the worst possible angle (Wagner's ripped mask, at Canek knee level) to show Canek's mask getting ripped off because they didn't want us to see Canek's face. He's covered up by the time we do see him, and the match is over. (DQ 2:33) Universo's going to keep stomping. Canek covers up and eventually gets to the floor, but he's not getting his mask back - Universo's sticking it in his tights! Ew.

Stellar Moments
-
Tzuki double jump corkscrew plancha! Olimpico with a bodyscissors into a small package!
- Misterioso gives Olimpico the Gory Special Neckbreaker, getting a big "ooooh!" from the crowd
- Mephisto's killer sunset flip bomb to the floor on Misterioso
- Pierroth low blow kicks Atlantis
- Ultimo Guerrero uses the reverse bodyscissors powerbomb on LA Park to retain the LH Championship

In other (unlabeled) footage from this week, Apolo Dantes got beat down and taunted by Pierroth, Pierroth, and Pierroth. Scary law firm. He wants the Capos; I think he wants to give his and his sons a monopoly on the evil business around these parts, so the cowboys gotta be run out of town. Good luck on that.

Vignette: El Hijo del Perro Aguayo tells Negro to listen, and be calm - he beat him for his hair, and he's going to beat him for the 71st Anniversary Trophy. Any more questions?

Vignette: Negro Casas is going to win the trophy match, so he can challenge Perro Aguayo for a one on one hair match. BARK BARK RRRRR

Match 2: Negro Casas vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo for the 71st Anniversary Trophy
Arena Mexico, 09/24/04

  1. Negro Majistral Cradle (2:47)
  2. Negro sharpshooter (6:32)

Winner: Negro Casas
Match Time: 10:19
Approx Rating: 78

Other Match Notes: Negro has new music, and a new outfit here. White trunks, white knee pads, white and blue boots. Why are tecnicos entering first lately? This trophy was never mentioned before (unless was last week on stuff we didn't see) and never will be mentioned again, so I wouldn't sweat it; it's more of an excuse to do the Perro/Negro match without putting hair on the line and tell the fans it means something. They don't bring it to the ring to start the match, anyway. No pre whistle fighting, shocking!

Perro wants a handshake to start! Yes, that'll work. They opt for trash talking while the referee calls for the whistle again. Negro SLAP to the face. Slap back. Both guys back up, and circle. Look at the wacky ref cam, and CLIP

Perro holds Negro upside down and rams him into the corner chest first. Negro's left hanging, but Perro shakes him free with a dropkick. They've obviously been going for a while, but we did not miss a fall. Perro picks up Negro just enough to kick him down. Negro sits up, Negro gets dropkicked down. Referee does that thing where he kinda Negro down even though Perro isn't really within five feet of covering him. Negro gets a shoulder up at one. More kickery and stompatude. Suplex - changing his mind to bridge, then letting go of the bridge for a normal cover when the referee runs around the pin to pick the wrong side to see Negro's shoulders. (He did try to correct his mistake; it was Perro switching covers which screwed him.) One two NO Perro picked him up. Perro picks him all the way up for chops. Dragging Negro around in a front facelock, then a headlock. Headlock takedown, and wrenching the head. This is technically fine but not inspiring and not the brawl we expected yet. Back up to a headlock. Negro escapes with a kneebreaker, and goes to work on the left leg with kicks. Casas Special, but Perro slips out of the La Majistral.  Perro clothesline Negro, but now he's not going down. Slap, off the ropes, right into the dropkick to the knee, and La Majistral works this time - one two three. (2:47) Replays.

Nothing much going on during the break. I expect the beatdown brawl to happen within 30 seconds. Real time or not, I don't know. Lots of circling and handshaking request to prove me wrong. Casas finally gets this started with a jumping heel kick, which Perro sells like death. ARMbar. Elbow to the elbow. Chops by Casas. Kicks to the chest and head. Okay, I'm wrong. Messing with Perro's hair. Arm crank over Casas' shoulder with bonus wristlock action. This match is methodical. And slow. Fujiwara armbar! Perro won't give quite yet - we've got 15 minutes to the top of the hour! - and manages to slide to the ropes. Casas takes him back down for a wristlock we don't really get the best look at. The best look is not the ref cam. Perro tries to punch out of it, and Negro cranks the hold in harder each time he does. Cross armbreaker! is not going to work because they're really close the ropes. This could've been the right match for, say, a Blue Panther and Negro Casas match, but not for this feud or Perro. It's also boring me. I know this arm work is not going to mean a thing in a minute or two when they get to throwing chairs, so it's hard to get interested it. Also hard to make me care about this is another CLIP

Perro's totally in control now. He ought to get ask for more clips. Unfortunately, he's going for a half Boston Crab. NOW Perro is leaving the ring and going for the blue steps, which means the match as officially started. The steps are set up on the ramp, and Negro is brought out to join it. Perro sits him on top of the steps, and boots him down. Perro gets warned, so he kicks the steps out of the way and glowers at the crowd as Negro easily gets away. Negro wanders around ringside, a little too much because it leaves him open for Perro to ambush him. Fans are a bit slow to realize Perro's about to mess up their section, but Perro does get one front row seat clear. In a great move, the guy sitting next to Negro stays there, and asks Negro if he wants a drink of his beer! Negro declines, and Perro gives him a boot upside the head. Overly Friendly Fan puts an arm around Negro's shoulder, but Negro angrily pushes him off, worried that it's going to get hurt in a second, I believe. Another big boot from Perro, who pulls Negro away from the people who wont' leave, and drags him on his back around the outside. Finding people who are more wiling to move, Negro is set up in a chair again, Perro takes his time backing up and getting set, and barrels at Negro. Negro moves, and Perro acts a bowling ball, running into and turning over the first three rows of seats (all vacant ahead of time.) Negro celebrates as he goes to track Perro down, and stomp him into the remains of the steps. Negro pulls Perro out by his hair, and walks him to a seat on another side, kicking him into seats, then kicking him while he's sitting there. Perro thrown in, and Negro stops to pose before picking up Perro. Negro in no real hurry, setting Perro up in the corner, slapping him down in one shot, and working him over with kicks and knees. Perro's seated in the corners, Negro backs all the way up, runs, and kills Perro with the dropkick to the face once again. I don't know you want that as a routine spot. Sharpshooter! That's it. (6:32) Perro disputes that he didn't give up (referee thought he did) and gets in the referee's face. Negro stops the argument by going for the Casas Special again. This time, La Majistral gets blocked by a low blow, so it's like doing the DQ finish without having a DQ. Perro's not going to come out of this empty - shoved down goes the ref, slammed down goes Casas. Perro goes up - top rope stomp!  Referee is already up and trying to pull Perro off from the stomping, but he gets shoved away two times. Third time, Perro takes care of him for good with a low blow kick! Stomping to make this more intense after the match than during it. Looks like officials are unhappily watching outside, but Perro keeps on stomping. Referee Baby Richard shows up - apparently, it's not official till someone raises Casas' hand, no matter how obvious that Casas won on either the give up, the DQ low blow, or the referee low blow, all seen by the initial low blow. Anyway, Baby Richards looks to be the next guy beat up, but CMLL security swarms Perro, and forces him out of the ring. 5 versus Perro is just barely enough to get him out of the ring and up the ramp - they're not helped by Negro wanting to get in another shot, but they do manage to block those two off from doing more. Perro wants to go back to the ring to gets Casas, and actually gets free for a second, so they pick him off his feet and drag him out. Okay. Rather extravagant event to help Perro keep his heat, I guess.

Next Week: Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, El Hijo del Santo, Tarzan Boy, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Mistico, Hijo del Perro Aguayo and much more.

Replay of all the finish related activates, and we're out.
