CMLL Line - did not air/probably was not taped (#153)
Typed: 10/20/04

Due to Olympic coverage, CMLL's Televisa show was preempted for three weeks. This is the first of those weeks, replacing the 08/13/04 show.

I have no idea if the shows were even taped, but CMLL does consider any show, taped or not, at Arena Mexico as part of their continuity. This is what you might have seen, if they aired an episode, based on the show results

1) Shocker, Mascara Sagrada, Negro Casas beat Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy, Terrible

The CMLL vs Northerners rivalry got a little expanded here. Terrible teamed with Garza and Tarzan and he'd start regularly teaming with those two and Perro Aguayo Jr. from here on out.

The more important bit was the Original Mascara Sagrada debuting in Arena Mexico. Like LA Park, he'd been in a long legal battle with AAA/PAP promoter Antonio Pena over who owned the gimmick. Unlike Park, Sagrada was able to find prove Pena didn't create his image; Sagrada's gimmick was actual the result of a magazine write in contest, where the challenge was to come up with a new character. A kid came up with the Sacred Mask idea, not Antonio Pena, so there was nothing Pena could do to stop him from using it on TV. This was Sagrada's first oppurtinty to do just that. Sagrada kept his status as independent, but would appear on CMLL to regain some visibility and try to convince the public that he was the original/best Mascara Sagrada, since Pena continued using the gimmick for one of his own AAA wrestlers.

Tecnicos won; I have no specific notes, but I'd imagine the idea here was to profile Sagrada.

2) Perro Aguayo Jr. DCO El Hijo Del Santo

This was the big singles match after Perro smashed the Leyenda de Plata trophy, but being three weeks old, it wasn't really time for a lucha blow off. I imagine this was a brawl, and the brawling let to the finish.
