Intocable’s career appears to be over

On Saturday, Intocable (Rene Gomez) had a match on the AAA TV Taping with the debuting Stone Brothers versus Mr. Aguila, Charly Manson and Psicosis. During the course of the match, Psicosis kicked him in the back (the report says flying kick, but that could mean any number of kicks), and Inotcable lost feeling in his right arm and right leg. A doctor checked on him then, but did not find the eventual injury. It was only a day later in Monterrey (and possibly after dragging himself thru another match) that the spinal injury was discovered. The problem appears to be with the connections to his fifth and sixth vertebrae, but it also appears to be only partially reversible. The reports do seem to allow the slimmest chance he will ever be the same.

Intocable was, at least until the CMLL jumps of the last few months, a second tier guy who was on the track to become a top one. He fit the Pena idol babyface mode of a young attractive (in a male-stripper sense) self confident man. He was Latin Lover’s obvious successor, to the point where Latin wanted assurances Intocable would cut out his stripper antics as to not draw attention from his own. While not great, Intocable was good enough to fit in with the AAA workers and their style.

AAA aggressively recruits similar types to Intocable, so they’ll be able to find a replacement. He didn’t appear to have any pending feuds (although the match on Saturday might have been an attempt to establish one, or his role as AAA Tony Rivera to team with the Stone Brothers), so he can be dropped out of TV easily, though I expect the match where he got hurt will be televised at some point.

Hopefully, Intocable gets at least enough feeling and range of motion back to have a normal life.

CMLL (TUE) 06/21 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Karisma & Espiritu b Polvora & Vaquero
2) Molotov, Sombra de Plata Jr., Valiente b Mogur, Jeque, Flecha
3) Stuka, Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico b Hooligan, Super Comando, Koreano
Line quoted for Ryan: “The felines follow by good way, now have an opportunity by the crown of pairs of the Coliseo Arena.” I smell title match.
4) Black Tiger, Emilio Charles, Hijo de Pierroth b Brazo de Plata, Lizmark, Felino
You know, most of the time, guys work either Tuesday and Friday. But then Black Tiger is not most guys.
5) Mistico, Atlantis, Blue Panther b GdI (Ultimo, Rey, Olimpico)
Atlantida on Olimpico for the victory. Ovaciones is upset with Mistico for not doing an interview with them last week.

Averno & Mephisto retained the CMLL Tag Team Champion over Blue Demon and Satanico in Guadalajara.

Box Y Lucha’s cover has shot of the cage match. The poster is Ultimo Guerrero

Inside:
– interview with Bronco talking about his dream to one day wrestle in Arena Mexico; Mistico and Dr. Wagner recruited him to fight Perro’s faction.
– interview with LLF’s Dark Angel, talking about visiting Mexico City to learn. She says she came from Canada to wrestle in Mexico because there’s not the same passion for wrestling (or maybe just lucha) up there.
– Perro Aguayo explains his rib injury was actually *before* the Cage of Death, but he wrestled anyway. Could explain why he was the first one to leave. His goals are Universo’s hair (for obvious reasons) and Mistico’s mask (because he’s the golden boy of CMLL)
– interview with Elektro, briefly mentioning his previous CMLL stint as Ultimatum. Sounds like he’s on a part time, per-show agreement. He says he wrestled like he wrestled in AAA because that was the style of the promotion, and he’ll be more CMLL like in CMLL. Elektro seeks matches with Bucanero, Olimpico, Mephisto, and Nitro. Was Nitro around last time Elektro was around and that’s why? Weird pick.
– interview with Averno. His dad didn’t let him near wrestling when he was growing up, trying to steer him towards any other career. He talks about being really nervous for his match (10/18/96), teaming with his dad against Cassandro and he thinks Guerrero Star (but he can’t remember – Cassandro is easier to remember.)
a longer interview with Crazy Boy.

06/21 news

The main Ovaciones interview is with Villano IV and Villano V in an identity protection bit: there’s a guy wrestling as Villano Jr, claiming to be trained by Villano I, and the existing Villanos dispute all of that. As far as Villano III, IV and V are concerned, they are the last Villanos.

Ricky Marvin heads back to Japan on Friday. He’s planning on returning to Mexico in September.

I posted a recap of this past weekend’s CMLL on Sunday, but I forget to link to here it till now. I wasn’t as blown as away as I hoped to be; they needed to have three complete matches instead of four cut ones.

I’m going to see if I can knock off another recap of something this week.

06/20 news

LuchaInsider is DOWN. They were too far in the negative on points, I guess.

I didn’t even attempt to proofread. Sorry!

3) Rayo de Jalisco Jr, Dos Caras Jr, Hijo de Lizmark vs Pierroth, Blue Demon, Hector Garza
3) LA Park, Bronco II, Elektro vs Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero
Elektro you know – this is his CMLL redebut. Bronco’s not the Bronco who previously was in CMLL. CMLL says he’s from Monterrey, with 10 years of experience and was trained by Chucho Villa. The assumption is Silver King finally had to drop the Black Tiger identity – at least in CMLl, since they don’t want problems with NJPW – and decided to just change masks.

CMLL (SUN) 06/26 Arena Coliseo Lineup [cmll]
1) Shockercito & Bracito de Oro vs Gitanito & Sombrita
2) StarMAN, Brazo de Plata Jr., Ultimo Vampiro vs Guerrero del Futuro, Ramstein, Reyes Veloz

With El Texano’s retirement, Signo and Negro Navarro are bringing El Texano Jr. into their Los Misioneros de la Muerte.
5) Mascara Sagrada, Matrix, Black Dragon vs Black Tiger, Pantera, Enfermero Jr.
Tiger’s apparently going to keep using the name outside of CMLL – if he even is Bronco.

3) Matematico, Villano III, Ultraman, Mano Negra, Rambo, Brazo de Oro, Gallo Tapado Jr., Stuka Jr., Halcon Dorado Jr., Hermano Muerte Jr., Bobby Lee Jr., Blackman II [Copa Shadow, cibernetico – I think]
4) Mil Mascaras, Blue Demon Jr., Solar, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Dr. Wagner, Angel Blanco Jr., Enfermero Jr., el Hijo del Galdiador.

Super Lucha’s cover is of course, Mascara Magica’s bald head. Does “Octagon tiene mal de Parkinson” mean what I think it means?

Important Stat!: Don Poncho Penaloza, the offical barber of CMLL, says Mascara Magica was the 82nd head he’s shaved.

CMLL (FRI) 06/16 Arena Mexico Results [O’Campo]
1) Ultimo Dragoncito & Pequeno Olimpico b Pierrothito & Fire
2) Sangre Azteca, Averno, Mephisto b Satanico, Felino, Metro
Metro looks green.
3) Dr. Wagner Jr., Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Dos Caras Jr. b Canek, Pierroth, Terrible
Wagner and Canek are ripping masks again.
4) Groon XXX, La Parka, Lizmark Jr. DQ GdI (Ultimo, Rey, Olimpico)
Park ripped of his own mask and threw it to Ultimo. Ultimo busted Groon open, and the two challenged each other to a singles match. Good luck Ultimo! O’Campo says it felt like a normal show till this point.
5) Mascara Magica lost in the Cage of Death match
They had staggered entrances. Mistico got punked out on the way to the ring by Perro Aguayo and they locked the cage without him, so he was forced to climb up the cage and dive onto everyone. They only kept everyone ien the ring for 5 minutes. People weren’t thrilled that Perro took off first, having expected a Mistico/Perro climax. When Mistico, Mascara Magica and Damian were left, Magica wanted them to beat down the rudo enough so he’d be an easy pin, but Mistico took off. Magica, ticked, left the cage to get Mistico and his mask, but you have to win fall by pinfall or submission, and so he had to come back. Damian got the win with his wacky neckbreaker. Both Perro and Damian are said to have suffered rib injuries.

Cage of Death quick results

There’s a quick order of escape report on Box Y Lucha’s forum

1) El Hijo del Perro Aguayo
2) Universo 2000
3) Halloween
4) Negro Casas
5) Heavy Metal
6) Hector Garza
7) Mistico
8) Damian

So, yes, Mascara Magica lost his hair. We’ll go over the rest in the morning.

06/17 news

Mistico’s opponent for the Dragon Door debut show on 07/19 is – Ultimo Guerrero. Of course.

Ovaciones’ Cage of Death hype interview today is with Mascara Magica. Magica remembers he lost his mask in just this type match, but does not plan on losing his hair. He’s got no friends in this match besides himself, and he’s just concentrating on not dying. A fine goal.

Let’s look at the card again.

CMLL (FRI) 06/16 Arena Mexico Lineup [superlucha]
1) Ultimo Dragoncito & Pequeno Olimpico vs Pierrothito & Fire
Does it matter? Probably not. Tecnicos will take it.

2) Satanico, Felino, Metro vs Sangre Azteca, Averno, Mephisto
I expect Metro to be put over. Did I mention he’s Fabian el Gitano here? There you go.

3) Dr. Wagner Jr., Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Dos Caras Jr. vs Canek, Pierroth, Terrible
We should get some indication if they’re going with this as match for the anniversary show. Canek’s side takes it.

4) Groon XXX, La Parka, Lizmark Jr. vs GdI (Ultimo, Rey, Olimpico)
Another Groon showcase. I don’t think they’re going any deeper than that.

5) Universo 2000, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Mistico, Mascara Magica, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Damian 666, Hector Garza, Halloween [cage of death]
I’m not so interested in this match; I haven’t seen a match of this type I’ve really enjoyed, and I expect it’ll be one of the minor names who drops his hair: Mascara Magica, Halloween or Damian. I figure it’s Magica.

06/16 news

Talk about burying the lead: 7 paragraphs down in Ovaciones’ interview with Chessman, they mention Chris and Alan Stone have jumped to AAA. They were just on the Arena Coliseo card Tuesday and Alan was in the Cibernetico on Friday. Alan’s on the lineup for Sunday’s Coliseo show as well.

If this leads to an undercard tournament for the Arena Coliseo Tag Team Titles, this is a great thing. Otherwise, eh. I guess Shocker and Alan can team up now! You’ll note below, Alan and Chris are still working the third match on the card, but maybe will get on TV now.

Chessman’s interview is a heat up for an AAA show this weekend. He wants to win the Mexican National Tag Team championship with Ciberentico; current champs are La Parka and Octagon. He also rips Ponco de Nigris: terrible actor, two left feet dancer, not as hot as Latin Lover. Cibernetico would like to wrestle him, because he figures he could shave him pretty easy.

AAA (SAT) 06/18 Auditorio Municipal de Torreon, Coahuila
1) Lola Gonzalez, Fabi Apache, Martha Villalobos vs Diabolica, Tiffany, Xochitl Hamada
2) TD, Colorman, Angel vs the Black Family
3) Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Intocable vs Mr. Aguila, Charly Manson, Psicosos
4) Abismo Negro, Hator, Chessman vs Latin Lover, Zorro, Shocker
5) La Parka vs Cibernetico [lights out]

I keep thinking there’s an AAA taping this weekend, but I see no listing of one. I’m sure I’m getting months confused, but it’d be nice if they updated their website again.

In today’s hype for the Cage of Death, Hector Garza explains the tencicos have five because they’re just that scared they won’t win. They’re still losing, of course.

Robert hears Sin Limite is just in summer reruns.

06/15 news

CMLL (TUE) 06/14 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
There was a modest tribute to Black Shadow on the card. Shadow was there and took part. IWRG says they’re going to be holding a big show for him on 07/30.
1) Polvora & Vaquero b Molotov & Meteorix
2) Super Comando, Jeque, Flecha b Brazo de Plata Jr., StarMAN, Valiente vs
3) Hooligan, Loco Max, Arkangel b Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Tony Rivera
4) Blue Panther, Lizmark, Safari b Black Tiger, Ryu Taguchi, Okumura
5) Rayo de Jalisco, Brazo de Plata, Black Warrior DQ Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy, Terrible
Hector pulled Rayo’s mask

CMLL has taken publicity photos of Mistico with his mask off, so there’s no delay in creating upcoming show posters should he lose. I think that’s unfair. They should make everyone shave their heads in case they lose!

Tickets are supposedly 70%, so I think they’ll have a big number once day of the show sales take place.

Ovaciones says the Villano III/Rambo match was very bloody and not good for those with heart conditions. Sounds fun.

06/14 news

There’s an interview today with Halloween and Damian, about the Cage of Death match. They’re not thrilled that it’s 4 on 5 and they’re part of the 4. FdT plans on making the match theirs, and leaving the tecnicos laying in the cage.

In the middle of the interview, they randomlly mention that Perro was wrestling with two fractured ribs last Friday. He still plans on wrestling Friday.

Besides the CMLL stuff, they also hype a card FdT is headlinging in Hidalgo.

Volador & Ricky teamed (despite not being on the same team) to give Misterioso a Spanish Fly to eliminate him second to last, and Volador finished off Ricky for the win. This match aired on CMLL TV.
4) Groon XXX, Atlantis, Blue Panther b Pierroth, Rey Bucanero, Olimpico
Groon showed a much larger move set than any time before.
5) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Universo 2000, Mascara Magica DQ Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hector Garza, Halloween, Damian

6) Fatasma de la Opera & Carta Brava b TKX & Mike “Suicida” Segura
In turn, the winners got attacked after the match, leading to:
7) X-Trangers (Otis Idol, Hornet, Ash Lavigne) b Black Sect (Fantasma de la Opera, Carta Brava, Cerebro Negro)
