Recap: 04/28/10

Show features hype for the 04/30 show and Hector saying he's not a rudo.|

Match 1: Delta ©, Guerrero Maya Jr., Molotov vs Dr. X, Nitro ©, Raziel
Arena Mexico, 04/18/2010

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:59
Rating: OK
Notes: Nitro and Dr. X do their promo as part of the lineup screen. That's a cool idea. Referees appear to be Edgar el Guero and Rodolfo Ruiz.

1: Delta & Raziel can't get started without the rudos getting involved. Delta tries to intimidate the Tuareg, who just wait for him to turn back to action and launch the beatdown. Maybe there are some people who can intimate people who carry swords around all the time, but 2010 Delta is not one of those people. Beatdown is a lot putting in holds and kicking the head. Raziel goes after Delta's mask because it's just the thing to do this season. Nitro, the man out months with knee surgery, is doing top rope splashes. I dunno, these people have a lot more dedication to entertain at the cost of their bodies than I might. Maya makes a delayed save, but it doesn't matter since Raziel is finishing off Delta at the same time. Rudos roll up Maya for good measure.

2: Rudo beatdown is just wrapping up. Delta runs the ropes while trying hard to keep his mask on, and maybe that's why he loses track of whatever spots he supposed to do with Dr. X, and has to bounce off again before trying it. Not so good, and followed up by Delta over shooting Nitro on a sunset flip. Nitro, much to his credit, doesn’t just fall over into it, but turns and elbow drops Delta. Rudos whip Delta again, and this time Raziel accidentally boots him into a dropkick on Nitro. Corner whip, Delta walks up the ropes and the post, and comes off with a moonsault onto Nitro. Nice. Guerrero Maya in, blocking a hiptoss and getting one of his own. Walking up the ropes armdrag sends the Cancerbero out, and Maya follows with a thru the ropes tope con giro, crashing into the front row. Molotov and Dr. X, in, Molotov knocking X down with a step over kick, and finishing with a – Tequila Sunrise? Sure. Dr. X is not the captain, and the people at the control of the camera eventually figure out we're waiting for the rudos to be counted out – there they ware, that's the fall.

3: Joined with Maya in an armdrag run. Springboard spinning one sends Dr. X out, and switch to Nitro and Delta. Delta's counters are cool, his offense doesn't come in as well. Molotov and Raziel are in not for long – or maybe it's just Delta tries to get involved for a large part – then it's back to Nitro & Delta. Delta has some good moments, and he has some moments where he seems out of position. End game is Raziel crushing Maya with an Ephesto tope (Maya slides out to escape, gets killed), and Dr. X tripping Molotov off the apron when trying an Asai to leave just the captains in. Delta gets distracted by a Dr. X trip from the outside – too distracted, because Nitro's expecting him to be some place as he's yelling at Dr. X – then whipped to the corner. Delta can’t help but climbing up and jump off, which works perfectly for Nitro's counter dropkick. Strong win for the rudos.

After replays, Delta challenges Dr. X to a singles match – no backup, no Cats (?). Nitro grabs the microphone, explaining he doesn't understand what Delta is saying – the Tuareg aren't going to let one man go alone, they're all together, and how about a mask vs mask match. Molotov throws in his challenge to Nitro. Dr. X makes it a youth vs experience thing, and Guerrero Maya wants part of this as well.

Match 2: Brazo de Plata ©, Máximo, Sagrado vs Shigeo Okumura, Taichi, Villano IV ©
Arena Mexico, 04/18/2010

  1. técnicos
  2. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:03
Rating: not much
Notes: V4 says he's here representing Ray Mendoza Jr., and he hasn't forgot his feud with Porky.

1: After a Sagrado/Taichi opening of note, Máximo sneaks in a kiss on Okumura to start his usual run. He whiffs on a springboard headscissors – Máximo doesn't get as high as others, but I've seen people go over for ones at that level; not Okumura here – and strikes the mat hard. Okumura stomps him a bit and Máximo meekly rolls out. Porky comes in, and shoves Okumura down with his fat. This gets us to the Villano vs Brazo battle, which is mostly the Villano rolls around as Porky moves an arm in shi direction. Porky's hipcheck to Villano’s head in so devastating, Villano stumbles backwards, thru the ropes, falling to the floor hard on his back. I guess the idea was to get trapped between them and fall a lot safer, because that was a huge bump for a comedy move. Porky splashes both Japanese, and the rudos drop them in position for their finishes. (Sagrado gets in his springboard moonsault on Taichi, but goes for a submission so Porky's move will count.) Porky sits on V4 for good measure.

2: Rudo beatdown, including Taichi stepping on Monito. Break while the beatdown is still going (but it's only about a 2.5 minute segment.)

Just after returning, Máximo trips V5 out of the ring, leisurely ducks a double clothesline, and leads the Japanese into a springboard dropkick form Sagrado. Máximo & Sagrado tope the Japanese, leaving Villano 4 and Porky in a chopping battle. This last about 15 seconds before V4 blatantly foul kicks Porky, and that’s the match.

As the técnicos are checking on Porky in the rings, and the rudos are confronting them than waling out (and they’re sticking with this short longer than usual) – Maniaco, Monsther, Histeria, Chucky hit the ring and attack the técnicos. They actually miss Histeria and Psicosis coming in, going to a shot of the others running. Chucky beats up Monito in the corner. The rudos come back. Villano IV, really an independent of his own, eagerly jumps back in to help stomp down the técnicos, then waves Taichi and Okumura to join him. They do, and the rudos easily heave the better of the outnumbered técnicos. Lots of punching. Crowd is yelling at this. After about a minute, security climbs into the ring starts puling the rudos off, which actually allows Sagrado to get in some good shots on the invaders. The CMLL rudos are backed up to the aisle, while the invaders are forced thru the crowd and to the side door. They argue, and the fans start pelting them with garbage.
