CMLL Guerreros del Ring on CAN52 #223 (02/27/2010)
Recap: 03/01/10

Mistico cleans house on Sombra and Volador with his belt, but they end up stomping him down. Highlights from that trios match, focusing just on Místico and Volador. Finishing superkick doesn't look any better this time.

Julio Cesar previews the next match.

Match 1: Fabián el Gitano, Guerrero Maya Jr., Leono vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro
Arena Mexico, 02/21/2010

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos

  3. rudos

Winner:  rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:08
Rating: not good
Notes: Dr. X does a brief promo for his side. Leono doesn't seem to believe his own promo. I guess they're the captains, because they don't have the normal graphic for them. Dunno. Let's find out together (unless you've looked at the colors up there.)

1: Tuareg is in white, and Maya is in his lavender outfit, which isn't that far off from the Tuareg purple, so I'm baffled for a moment as Nitro is baffled by Maya's armdrags. Nitro answers with one back, and tags out. Hooligan is all excited for some reason, even though he's facing Fabian. After a bit of grasping, Hooligan gives Fabián one (1) hiptoss, Fabian yells, and Hooligan kills time by picking a fight with Leono. Fabian is slow to get up, but he's game for more. Hip toss by Fabián, which took some effort by both men not to screw up, Hooligan goes for zero leg covers, but Fabian wants to get in armdrags, and then they go back to the zero leg covers. Fabian tries to chase Hooligan around the ring, but Hooligan just backs up to his corner and tags out. Smart man. Leono and Dr. X. Leono's added scratch marks to his back. Still not intimidating wearing pink. Armdrags and zero cover and Leono getting his bandana pulled off. This is going nowhere. Nitro and Guerrero Maya in, Maya screams as he comes in, off the ropes, over, back elbow knocks him down. Whip, clothesline missed, May flips over a backdrop, waved by again, and back with a springboard armdrag. Nitro rolls out, and Maya goes up – plancha to the floor. Leono and Hooligan in, Hooligan chases Leono, who pulls off into an unconvincing leap into a rolling rosa. That looked 97% Hooligan doing the work there. Fabian and Dr. X stand around looking at each other, before Fabian gets an armdrag and a seated wristlock. Fabian almost falls down while applying the wristlock, which is so great. Except there's two more falls to come, which is not great. Guess this means Maya and Nitro are captains.

Angel de Oro thanks you for voting him Novato of the Year. Not me, I voted Diamante. TWITTER REPRESENT.

Miguel talks about Felino vs Ciclon Negro

Amapola talks about winning Luchadora Of The Year. It's kind of crazy – the only ruda against three (Dark Angel, Lady Apache and Marcela, if I'm remembering it right) pretty popular técnicas, and she won going away. Maybe that world championship still means something?

2: Fabian and Hooligan start, with Fabián evading a charge by flipping off the ropes as Hooligan slide out. Somehow, this leads to a corner headscissors by Fabián. Armdrag, armdrag, quebradora, Hooligan complains about this some how being a foul, then leaves the ring. Leono blows an Octagon style spinning armdrag against Dr. X, and the rudos decide to start the beatdown right there. Not a moment too soon. This match could use three falls of beatdown, if you asked me. Fabian takes corner clotheslines from two, while Dr. X is still busy beating up on Leono. Double backdrop for Maya. Spinebuster, dropkick to the head, Maya sent shaking his head out. Fabian is set up on the mat, and Nitro adds a middle rope senton to eliminate him. Nitro spinebusters Leono, and and he and Dr. X force him into a double armbar cradle for the other pin. That looked off, and Hooligan adds a low blow headbutt even as the refs are counting the pin.

Disturbio does a random promo. Disturbio?

Julio talks about Talisman and Mocho Cota's hair match.

Dragon Rojo thanks the fans for voting for him as Revelacion of 2010.

3: FLASHING STROBE LIGHTS. Rudos still in control. Camel clutch/dropkick on one técnico. Fabian takes a corner low blow dropkick. Leono flips free of a backdrop, then ducks a casual double clothesline. Rudos turn around and wait for the técnicos to come in. Maya's only slightly late, Fabián a lot more. Leono and Nitro have to wait for some bodies to move out of the way before Leono can headscissors him out. No dives, Leono just waits for Dr. X to come in and miss a clothesline, then superkicks him. Dive now? Leono teases the tope, ends up landing the pescado. Maya armdrags Nitro around, and gets great high on a springboard reverse tope, but Nitro still dropkicks him out of the air. One two three. Hooligan Clash on Fabian for good measure, but I think the fall was already over. Don't want this one to last any longer than it must.

La Mascara thanks the fans for his técnico of the year and trio of the year win.

Miguel talks about the next match.

Match 2: Blue Panther, Toscano, Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
Arena Mexico, 02/21/2010

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos

  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:40
Rating: good, Valiente parts were superb
Notes: Hey, Nosferatu & Euforia together. They should form a tag team. Someone really likes shooting right into the strobe lights. I have the worst headache now.

1: Vangelis and Blue Panther! My head still hurts. Rudos rush in when panther has Vangelis in a pinning predicament, and take off before the técnicos get there. Valiente just needs to hit someone, so he shoves Vangelis (who appears to take no responsibility for his partners actions.) Toscano and Valiente and up chasing the other rudos halfway up the aisles. Nosferatu has a new, gold mask. Same basic design, but different colors. Everyone goes back to the corners, and Panther and Vangelis start just long enough for Panther to have his back turned towards the rudos, so they can rush in and stomp everyone this time. After Panther's been worked over, Vangelis high fives his partners, who decided to leave him alone with Panther. BAD CALL. Panther reverses a sunset flip, setting Vangelis up for a Toscano plancha. Toscano comes back with a headscissors on the next pass to send Vangelis out. Nosferatu flattens him with a back elbow, and gives one to Valiente for just standing on the apron. Corner whip on Toscano, Toscano climbs up to the top rope, stands there for a second, then jumps off with and armdrag on Nosferatu. Toscano poses, but gets cut off by a Euforia big boot. Valiente gets Euforia with a top rope headscissors, then moonsaults off the middle rope. Euforia catches him and holds him upside down, but Valiente reverses it so he's holding Euforia, dropping him in the chest breaker. One two three. Valiente does not screw around!

Sangre Azteca promo for 52MX

Vangelis & Nosferatu promo with greatly amusingly inappropriate promo. Vangelis is into disco, I guess.

2: Vangelis wants a handshake from Valiente to start off, but Valiente wants to fight. So Vangelis hits him, and Valiente falls down. Maybe a better plan next time. Vangelis armdrags Valiente, but he cartwheels out of it, and Vangelis out with a springboard armdrag. Nosferatu misses a bombs away senton, Valiente blocks everything he has to offer and slaps him one good. Dropkick sends that one out. Dive? No, Valiente slides out, ducks under Euforia's clothesline, flips off his boost, lifts Euforia over his shoulder, and rams him head first into the post. DON'T STEP TO VALIENTE. Valiente's partners raise arms, because Valiente is awesome. Toscano and Nosferatu in. Wait, no, Euforia instead. Avoidance, Toscano spinning headscissors ends Euforia out. Tarzan stops to pose to the crowd, and gets Vangelis with a bodyscissors armdrag next. Stop to pose again. Panther in, ready to face Nosferatu. Nosferatu is less ready. Somehow, it ends up with Vangelis being in when they start. Panther knocks down Vangelis with a plancha and stays on him oddly. Nosferatu rushes in to kicks Panther in the side of the head many time. Nosferatu grabs Panther, and Panther grabs his arm for the armbar. Euforia breaks it up just in time. Chops knocks Panther into the corner. Corner whip, reveres, Panther charge in, Euforia puts him up top, Panther kicks away his kick and pulls him over with a middle rope headscissors. Nosferatu in, catching Panther and dropping him with a spinebuster. Vangelis takes over on Panther, Northern lights suplex – that's his move! - one two three! Nosferatu held off the other técnicos just long enough.

Ultimo Guerrero thanks everyone for his votes for Rudo of the Year.

3: Rudos hold Panther for Euforia to chop. Euforia does, rudos celebrate, and Panther rushes Euforia. Vangelis and Nosferatu are a bit slow to realize what's going on, but do kick down Panther and help stomp him out of the ring. Vangelis takes care of Valiente, and Nosferatu kicks Toscano questionably low when he tries jumping him. Euforia slams Panther on the ramp. Toscano take this match's low blow dropkick. Maybe they're overdoing that spot just a bit. Corner clothesline for Vangelis, then whipped the other way into Euforia's boots. Triple boot kicks on Valiente. Toscano come in, and gets kicked by everyone at once. Toscano manages to get the boost up on Vangelis' charge. The other two rudos pay no attention, turning around just as Valiente has Vangelis in an off the top rope sunset flip. Panther and Toscano try to cut off the other two with sunset flips, but the rudos actually block both of them. Valiente doesn't work either, but the rudos stay in control. Triple headlock, triple bulldog, shoved off into each other. Toscano and Panther hook Nosferatu and Vangelis into a sort of star (Panther and Toscano holding different body parts), and Valiente adds a springboard into 'rana, one two everyone kicks out. Rudos in control again, clearing the ring of all but Panther. Vangelis has him, but the his partners chop Vangelis down by mistake. Nosferatu and Euforia kick Panther down, but Toscano and Valiente come in with sunset flips on him, and Panther Vangelis gets Panther. Everyone kicks out again. This time, people start backing out of free will, which kind of leaves no one to fight. Euforia moves out of the way of a Toscano corner charge, boots Panther, but the misses Toscano on a corner charge and spears the post on the way out. Valiente immediately hits a nice Valiente special. Panther reverses a Nosferatu clothesline into a small package, and Toscano finishes with a small package out of a bodyscissors. That's the match.

Replays. And that's it.
